NSA-Fan Feinstein Slams CIA Spying And Intimidation

Tyler Durden's picture

Having been vociferous over her support for the NSA's domestic espionage programs, we couldn't help but see the ironic hypocrisy of Senator Diane Feinstein's accusations that the CIA secretly removed documents from computers used by her panel to investigate a controversial interrogation program. As WaPo reports, Feinstein "is not taking lightly" the fact that the CIA appears to have violated the Fourth Amendment, which bars unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as various federal laws and a presidential executive order that prevents the agency from conducting domestic searches and surveillance. President Obama has since expressed "great confidence" in CIA chief John Brennan (unless of course he crossed a red line).

The irony and hypocrisy begins... (Via WaPo),

The head of the Senate Intelligence Committee on Tuesday sharply accused the CIA of violating federal law and undermining the constitutional principle of congressional oversight as she detailed publicly for the first time how the agency secretly removed documents from computers used by her panel to investigate a controversial interrogation program.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) said that the situation amounted to attempted intimidation of congressional investigators, adding: “I am not taking it lightly.”

...

She confirmed that an internal agency investigation of the action has been referred to the Justice Department for possible criminal prosecution. And she said that the CIA appears to have violated the Fourth Amendment, which bars unreasonable searches and seizures, as well as various federal laws and a presidential executive order that prevents the agency from conducting domestic searches and surveillance.

She has sought an apology and recognition that the CIA search of the committee’s computers was inappropriate, she said. “I have received neither,” she added.

CIA chief Brennan is defending his agency's role:

the agency did nothing wrong and “has tried to work as collaboratively as possible” with the Senate committee. He said he would defer to a Justice Department investigation and wait for the facts to come out.

Brennan said he wants any historical record of the program to be accurate and balanced and said the CIA was not trying to thwart its progression or release.

“The CIA agrees with many findings in the report and disagrees with others,” he said.

Asked if he would resign if the CIA was found to be in the wrong, Brennan said he would let the president decide his fate.

“If I did something wrong, I will go to the president,” the CIA director said. “He is the one who can ask me to stay or to go.”

And in response to this:

  • WHITE HOUSE SAYS PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA HAS "GREAT CONFIDENCE" IN CIA CHIEF JOHN BRENNAN EVEN AS KEY SENATOR ACCUSES AGENCY OF SPYING ON CONGRESS

Limbaugh was right when he said they couldn't get behind spying on us fast enough but the minute the spying was on them it was hell breaking loose. This woman is dumb - but like a fox. She knows what has to be done to get us under the Socialist heel and she's doing a pretty good job - thanks to the idiot California voting base who reelect her by huge margins every time.

Sometimes at the end of the rope you find more problems than solutions. We tried violence during the revolution, its a temporary solution to a permanent problem. The blame also lies at the feet of our parents and grandparents who got drunk on middle class prosperity and fell asleep at our collective wheel. Teach yourself, get involved locally, and most important teach your kids to think critically and this too shall pass :) Republics and other ideals and mindsets, like cells and galaxies, have a cycle my friend.

Feinbergbloomsteinbitch has a net worth of about $100 million that she didn't have when she came into office.

Think there might be a few million records related to those decades worth of shenanigans?

They are gonna be crawling up every orifice you've got, bitch.

And you thought you were their poster girl.

Silly brownshirt.

All DC ironic hypocrisy is strategically and carefully planned. I would bet there were a number of meetings with her cohorts as to how to gain benefit from both sides of the debate. Many of her liberal constituents don't have a great deal of favor for the NSA. I would also guess she met with the agency and struck some sort of deal on how protect her privacy and how to best approach her concerns in an open forum. As a NA Indian would say "they speak with fork tongue".

You and Ed Snowden too.

http://www.nbcnews.com/storyline/cia-senate-snooping/snowden-feinstein-hypocrite-blasting-cia-spying-n49881?ocid=msnhp&pos=2

You tell em Ed. You may not be pure, but, you are right.

Feinstein is desperately trying to demonstrate she has some control over CIA and NSA activities after she and her committee were completely embarrassed by revelations to the contrary in the Ed Snowden incident and subsequent events. She also wants to steer more power and money from the CIA to the NSA, which is favorable to her and her constituents.

What’s really interesting (and hypocritical) to me is that Feinstein pretends to have her panties in a bunch over this single CIA example of invading privacy and abusing personal data. But, it’s nothing compared to what Facebook, Google and Twitter (three major corporations headquartered in her state) do to their customers every day. In fact, it’s an essential part of their business model.

Want proof? The only way I could find to post this comment without routing it through a Facebook, Google, or Twitter account was to do it here.

I hope you all realize that the Senate's feud with the CIA and NSA is staged. The Democrats hold the Senate by pretending to be the bullshit humanitarians and the CIA and NSA get their funding. The only way the Democrats can pull it off is to sell it to the American people. Sorry, I don't buy it. The spy agencies couldn't care less what the American people think of them. It's another disgusting power play by the scum that rule.

So, according to Feinstein, it's ok for the NSA to spy on the average American, but it's not ok for her Imperial Highness in the Senate?  Hypocracy, they name is Diane.

Where is JSOC's allegiance?

Where is the broader military's allegiance?

Peeps at the Alphabets could make a whole lot more dough getting a job selling shit, like everyone else in this carnival.

That there is some corruption or abuse, that's par for the course. It's everywhere.

But is it simply because they are constantly leaned on by politicians?

If their motivation is not strictly money, is it possible that it really is country?

With some politicians, you would have to ask, which country ...

Demonstein's 2nd attempt at an awb could well have been a ruse to placate the progressive left.

But it failed miserably after a letter was published and signed by over 1000 special ops and mil personnel, decrying the attempted coup on the 2nd amendment.

There are growing rifts between those "power elite" and their minions, and other branches of .dotgov.

Keep a close eye out and an ear to the ground. And keep the shit filter running, you're going to need it.

Welcome to the rest of the world that Jefferson and Monroe would not approve Senator Feinstein! Approval of NSA activity using general Warrants made us all identified targets of every Agency of the federal Government. Some of those Agencies are already prosecuting without trial innocent citizens. Your problem is a small thing compared to others!
