After Annexing Crimea, Russian Troops Are Piling Up By The East Ukraine Border
Despite the relentless protests of Kiev, and of course the G7 group of world's most indebted nations, in the past two weeks Vladimir Putin once again succeeded in outplaying the west and annexed the Crimea peninsula without firing a single shot (granted there is still potential for material situational deterioration, one which would involve military participation by NATO whose outcome is not exactly clear). The market has "priced in" as much, with prevailing consensus now dictating that Russia will preserve its foothold in the Crimea however without additional attempts for annexation: certainly Poland is hoping and praying as much.
However, as the following photos taken on the Russian side of East Ukraine, next to Belgorod, the Russian airborne troops ("VDV") are now piling up, only not in Crimea, which needs no further Russian military presence, but ostensibly to prepare for the next part of the annexation: that of Russian-speaking east Ukraine.
On the clip and pictures below, one can see Russian troops on the move near the border with Ukraine in the Belgorod Oblast, about 20 kilometers from the border with Ukraine near Kharkiv:

The problem is not that we have the rule of law, it's the laws themselves and the corruption of the process by which they are made. As you say, there are far too many laws, but worse, most of them are bought and paid for by vested interests. The system as it was intended to work expected that our representitives would actually represent us, and would negotiate with one and other in good faith (when did that last happen in congress?) to pass those laws that are necessary for socity to function in a way that balances everyones rights and responsibilities.
The system based on the rule of law, as described on paper (the constitution) is fine. It's just that we don't currently have that system.
I would ammend this to say that the problem with the west in general is that the rule of law and what it is has either been forgotten or so severely perverted that noone really understands what it was originally intended to be.
We no longer have rule of law or a system of justice but rather a "legal system" which is not law as our forefathers understood but rather regulatory in nature and abusive of the very individuals that 'the law" was originally intended to protect.
Freedom has been hijacked by a team of laweyers and bankers masquerading as politicians. It is a problem that can likely only be fixed with lengths of rope and pitch forks.
Sadly - I suspect I am by and large alone on this one. And since one man does not a revolution make I am content to sit and watch the whole mess fester, rot and eventually burn. Indeed - every nation get's the government/system it deserves. We in the west are not exceptional.

I think you've misunderstood Putin's popularity. There are few nations on earth that aren't under the thumb of western banking interests. Well DoChen if you have been reading the posts you would know that up to 1/3 of ukraine gold deposits are in east as well as oil and gas. Most of coal deposits are there as well as valuable MIC factories that Russia relies on. They overall make money on the deal.

I remember that and the behavior by Germany was absurd. There was constant yelling by the Germans for the US to get out, but when we said OK they realized the loss of money that came with it and switched their tune immediately.
