Soros On Putin's "Blind Spot" And Why "Europe May Not Survive"

Tyler Durden's picture

"Europe faces 25 years of Japan-style stagnation," warns George Soros in this brief Bloomberg TV interview, adding that without deeper integration, "it’s an incomplete association of nations and it may not survive." While claiming that the financial crisis may be over they now "face a political crisis," with the voluntary association cracking due to the creditors (Germany) being in charge. However, he hopes "Ukraine is a wake-up call to Europe, because Russia has emerged as a rival to the European Union." Putin, Soros worries, "has a very different idea of what a society should be like... he has a blind spot - he believes people can be manipulated and cannot resist." That's not the case according to Soros, who exclaims "people do believe in freedom."

George Soros on what is facing Europe today:

"What is facing Europe, unless there is a more radical change is a long period of stagnation. Nations can survive in that way. Japan is just trying to break-out of 25 years of stagnation, where Europe is just entering. The European Union is not a nation. It’s an incomplete association of nations and it may not survive 25 years of stagnation.

"The financial crisis as such is over. But now we are facing a political crisis, because the Euro crisis has transformed what was meant to be a voluntary association of equal sovereign states that sacrificed part of their sovereignty for the common good into something radically different. It is now a relationship between creditors and debtors, where the debtors have difficulty in paying and servicing their debt and that puts the creditors in charge. And that divides the Eurozone into two classes – the creditors and debtors. The creditors are in charge and unfortunately the policy that Germany in particular is imposing on Europe is counter-productive and is making the condition of the debtor countries worse and worse. So, right now Europe is already growing a little bit, the Eurozone, but that’s only because Germany is forging ahead and more than let’s say Italy and Spain are falling behind. "

On Central Banks and whether he cares about the weakness we saw in the data and deflation:

"That’s going to be a very tough year for the banks. They are under pressure, because they have to meet the stress test. The banks have an interest in passing the stress test rather than reviving credit to the economy, so the banks have a transmission mechanism for the people’s savings channeling it into the real economy. They are not fulfilling their function."

On Ukraine's impact on Europe:

"Ukraine is a wake-up call to Europe, because Russia has emerged as a rival to the European Union. Putin has tried to reconstitute the Russian empire as a rival for the European Union and has been very successful politically. Not terribly unsuccessful financially and economically, because the Russian economy is not doing well at all, but Putin has outplayed, outmaneuvered the European Union, because Europe it [inaudible] to form, it demanded too much and offered too little. So, it wasn’t difficult for Putin to output it. But the Ukrainian people stood up and demonstrated by actually sacrificing their lives. Their commitment to be part of Europe, so this is a challenge for Europe and Europe needs to rediscover its own European identity instead of each country just pursuing its national interests and getting further and further into conflict with the others. There are certain core principles and this is a political thing – democracy, open society, freedom that Europe has believed in and ought to actually stand up and be united."

"Putin has a very different idea of what a society should be like. He believes that people can be manipulated. He actually has got a blind spot. It’s beyond his comprehension that people can spontaneously resist. He believes that if Ukraine resists that there is a conspiracy that people, that Americans, CIA, my foundation are conspiring to threaten him or to undermine is policies. And that’s not the case, people do believe in freedom. "

Soros?  Isn't he dead yet?  Well, at least we won't have long to wait.  Bitches.

soros is smart and successful, however if he really believes that "The financial crisis as such is over" i am astonished.  more likely, it seems to me, he is lying or, more exactly, propagandizing.

Soros is the ultimate badguy.  He'd give Bond a run for his money.  Doublespeak all day.

Yeah, Ernst Stavro Blofeldt, with his face melting a bit. Nazi collaborator stirring up neo-nazis for the good of an "open society". Of course that openness ends when it comes to central banks not issuing debt-enslaving fiat currencies and taking IMF austerity up the oompah.

Holding a central bank for ransom is how he made his first $1Billion in a day.  No wonder the BS propaganda, "Putin, Soros worries, "has a very different idea of what a society should be like".  King George needs to stop the idea of Russia breaking ties with the IMF... Bad for Quantum and all.

My only wish is that the BRICS break the back of the western banking cartels. Soros and his ilk have much to answer for through their manipulations of societies for their own evil goals and gains. Fuck Soros and his band of merry idiots, of which the entire US administration is included.

This corrupt son of a bitch talking about freedom?  He's out their promoting progressivism and defending the establishment political banking nexus as much as anyone, as anti liberty as you get.   He's one of these "democracy, democracy, democracy" type guys who knows fully well that's the ticket to slipping in authoritarianism by the uneducated masses own hands.

Christ, Lenin even laid that plan out bare for all to see.

Soros, do the world a favor; put a gun to your temple and pull the trigger!!!

Earth has only so much water, oil, gas, food, and ability to absorb growing numbers of people, at some point in time there cant be any more growth unless you have a world war to kill off millions so that they you can get back into the growth phase again.  So stagflation is a way of life, nothing wrong with it. Europe should keep the immigrants out and decrease its population by a few tens of millions, the life will be better.

So this is what fxxk EU meant...All these chess moves are pre-conceived, hummmmmm.

ATM's picture

Of course they are preconceived. The whole point of the Euro was to create the problems that lead everyone to the same conclusion -a Federal Europe. Soros even infers it if not outright declares ""it’s an incomplete association of nations".

The goal is one Europe, then one Eurasia, then one world, controlled of course by the authoritarian overlords.

He strikes me as exactly the type who means nothing of what he says.  Sorta reminds me of American politicians.

I'm quite certain Obama will show Putin who the boss is.  Right now Russia is playing right into Obama's plan.  He is about to unleash hell and Kurt Russell is coming with him.

I'm ambivalent about Soros. He's seems to have a nearly unlimited ability

to make money and has gone on to other playpens.

Because he's not a kneejerk conservative and promotes policies(and people)

who impinge on your more limited money making skills, you hate him.

He seems to have a more realistic world view than most of you.

Forget about Soros,

Read what he said and think about the Putin Mancrush team here at ZH.

With such emotions, it diminishes the ability of people to think rationally

PeaBird's picture

There's no Putin mancrush here at ZH, purely because some people wish to show the argument from the Russian side by quoting a few article from RT or Russian Pravda. Not when we are total immersed in CNN, CNBC, Reuters, Bloomberg, WaPo, WSJ, blah, blah, blah... In terms of the actions of both men on the world stage, most folks on ZH view Putin the same as they view Obama... There's really not that much difference in terms of their actions. But it does seem that whilst one man is playing chess, the other is playing tiddly winks.

Soros: talking his book and singing like the good globalist canary he is.

When you view everything he says from the globalist angle, you realise that when he says "Europe may not survive", what he actually means is that "Brussels" may not survive or the European Union may not survive..Good riddence. Europe will survive just fine with or without the parasite that is the EU. It is Europa or Brussels or the EU that won't. I love the veiled threat that Europe "will not survive 25 years of stagflation". What? Without Brussels? Hahaha...What a clown.

And "Putin's blind spot" about "people do believe in freedom" is perhaps the same as the EU's blind spot? Hypocrisy at its finest.

Keep talkin' ya book Mr Schwartz, we wanna hear from your own mouth, more of the globalist agenda. From this hit interview, we now know that Russia is a target on the globalist agenda. As if that's a relevation??? </sarc> It's no secret that the plans for the encirclement of Russia & China are still in full swing. That Europe will be sacrificed at the alter of 25 years of stagflation, if it doesn't do what it's told, and vote integrate in order complete & finalise the Brussels takeover project. And that Central Banks are not doing enough to further the process of taking total control.

One final thing. The comment about Russia "emerging" as a rival to the European Union. Notice a few things. Firstly, Russia has ALWAYS been a rival to Europe. Since the Vikings discovered the Russian river system, and started mixing with the local Slavic population to form what we now know as modern Russia. The rivalry is not a recent phenomenon. Secondly, Soros does not mention that Russia is a rival to says it is a rival to the European Union...a bastard representation of Europe...that's rather revealing...Thanks again Mr. Schwartz.

flapdoodle's picture

The globalist agenda Soros is pushing shines through in everything he says.

Soros mentions Japan as going through 25 years of stagnation and in the same breath says that the EU will go the same route because it is not "...integrated enough..."

Hello, anyone home? Japan is one of the most "...integrated..." nations on this earth - if "integration" is what leads to break stagnation, Japan should have broken out decades ago. More integration for EU is certainly no remedy for "stagnation", just an excuse to further the NWO agenda...

I'm glad Soros credits people with "believing" in freedom. Note he didn't actually claim they HAVE freedom, even though the highly "integrated" Western MSM propaganda apparatus bombards them constantly, assuring them they are really "free", and that Soros is pushing "democracy".

The only "freedom" the sheeple have are in the choices offered to them at the store...

Any Soros interview is just an excuse to push the NWO...

Things are falling apart and all are running to get in position for when the whole game implodes and what they can grab and fight over.  It's amazing Soros said what he did, he didn't even say anything about the US.  In fact I think the US will also go into a stagflation scenario for decades if not longer.
