Putin's Approval Rating At 3-Year Highs (As Obama Hits Record Low)

Tyler Durden's picture

On the heels of President Obama's approval rating plummeting to 41% - a record low - it is perhaps ironic that the supposedly despotic (amid shrouded in Hitler-comparisons and homosexual hatred) Vladimir Putin has seen his approval rating soar to 71.6% - a 3 year high - as Interfax notes "we now have a complex society that supports the president, primarily because of his stance on Ukraine." Interestingly 64% saw Ukraine as a key current event while 32% said that success at the Olympics was most important.

Via Interfax,

The rating of Vladimir Putin registered by the All-Russia Public Opinion Research center (VTsIOM), which exceeds the rating he had after his inauguration in 2012, will most likely stay high and may even increase, Nikolai Mironov, general director of the Institute of Priority Regional Projects, said.

"Putin's rating is even higher than it was in May 2012, when he became president. His rating has now reached the highest point. I believe it may stay at this level and may even increase," Mironov told Interfax on Thursday.

"We now have a complex society that supports the president, primarily because of his stance on Ukraine. It's not only 'Putin's majority' we spoke about earlier and which was composed of people from specific social groups. We now have a much broader consensus. We have managed to achieve the consolidation of society, which is expressed in this rating," he said.

"The stable increase of the president's rating is due to the successes in two Sochi Olympics: the main Olympics and the Paralympics. But the main thing is the president's stance on the political situation in Ukraine and in Crimea. This stance is aimed at defending the interests of the country and helping Russian people. It's very important to voters and respondents. No doubt, that influences the rating," Mironov said.

Putin's approval rating has now reached 71.6%, which is the highest point in several years, a poll conducted by VTsIOM shows.

Russians have been positive about Putin's work for several weeks now, since mid February, and the president's approval rating has gone up 9.7%, the public opinion poll says.

Putin's rating is increasing on the background of the political crisis in Ukraine and the situation in Crimea, which 64% of the respondents called the main events of the past week, and the success of the Russian national team in the Sochi Olympics and the beginning of the Paralympics (32%).

Russians have generally approved of the president's work for the past few years (60%). The previous highest rating of the president was registered in May 2012 (68.8%), immediately after Putin's inauguration as head of state.

So Obama needs to invade another country, have a successful home Olympics, and ban homosexuals?

The People always love the strong armed & charismatic leader, whether its Putin or Ceasar. History has shown this time and time again.

This is why the US republic will eventually fall to an empire lead by populist "leaders" and then to a feudal system. I do not what this, but I've sadly started to think it might just be the default state of man.

The list of people who benefited (or at least could sleep better) by Litvinenko's death is very lengthy, but those were actually endangered by continued presence on this planet are largely European persons...

What do approval ratings of sheeple mean?

Remember Roosevelts election slogan of keeping the USA out of a European war? Well, the freemason and One World globalist already had talked with Warner Bros. and the big Hollywood and Jewish newspaper owners, how long it would take to turn the public opinion of the sheeple. Answer: 6 months.

And since so many ZHers believe Putin was acting while Obama was passive, while the coup was a result of the Western activity, tells me, that the propaganda is working PERFECTLY. It just needs some time in the next months to sharpen the picture of a passive West and aggressive Russia a bit more...

Comparing watching and listening to Putin speak, and the likes of Obama or Kerry, or Harper for that matter is remarkable.

On one hand Putin is composed, thoughtful, concise, eloquent. On the other side, you have the average western stooge who mixes nonsese with rhetoric and adds ample hysteria in for effect. It is shameful.

Either way, like Bashar Assad, Putin enjoys popularity the average western politician could only dream of and the west's explanation is always the same - it is support at the barrel of a gun, which is patently preposterous.

Putin is a mobster and a thief. One of his main money-laundering men Dmytro Firtash, was arrested in Vienna this week at the request of U.S. authorities, the Austrian government sources said on Thursday.

Reuters reports that Firtash, 48, is one of Ukraine's richest men, an oligarch whose close links to Russia and involvement in the gas, chemicals, media and banking sectors gave him substantial influence, notably during the administration of recently ousted, Moscow-backed President Viktor Yanukovich.

Putin is not a dictator. He is just like Obama representing interests of Russia criminal oligarchy who hate Russian people. Most of Russia oligarchy keeps their money and their families in EU and the USA. Look at Russia Foreign Minister Lavrov. His family lives in America. These people do not need or want any major confrontation with the West. Putin and his surrounding are fighting to preserve their territory from the invaders. It is all.

The present fight is about a territory oligarchy in the West and Russia control. If Putin will go too far, Russia oligarchy will remove him.

Summary

Both the West and Russia are looking for an “honorable way” to divide Ukraine. The problem is that Ukrainian and Russian people might not cooperate with US and Russia mobsters.

PS

ZeroHedge is equally uninformed about Russia and Gold investing.

Putin is being demonized in the West and was even called Hitler by Hillary of "We came, We saw, He died." fame - just preparing the nation for war:

In the wake of the right-wing coup in Ukraine organized by the United States and the European powers, the American media is responding with a torrent of inflammatory war propaganda directed against Russia.

In the newspapers and on the airwaves, the demonization of Russia is unrelenting. The coverage of events follows a single simplistic story line. The actions of Russia are portrayed as the epitome of evil. Its president, Vladimir Putin, is the devil incarnate.

The historical background, the economic interests, the political context and the geo-strategic calculations that underlie Russia’s actions are ignored. No facts are allowed to get in the way of the programmed message. No lie is too absurd or ridiculous. The purpose of the propaganda campaign is not to convince public opinion, but to intimidate it.

Monday’s lead editorial (“Russia’s Aggression”) in the New York Times does not contain a trace of analysis. It consists entirely of denunciations, saber-rattling and limitless hypocrisy.

The Times begins by denouncing “Putin’s cynical and outrageous exploitation of the Ukrainian crisis to seize control of Crimea.” Reality is stood on its head. The United States supported right-wing and fascistic forces in Ukraine to bring about regime-change in a country on Russia’s border. These operations were exposed to the world in a telephone conversation leaked last month in which the US ambassador to Ukraine and the US assistant secretary of state discussed the composition of a new Washington-backed government. Of course, the Times makes no reference to this episode.

With breathtaking cynicism, the Times demands that Obama tell Putin that Russia “has stepped far outside the bounds of civilized behavior, and that this carries a steep price in international standing and in economic relations.”

Who is outside the bounds of “civilized behavior?” The United States has intervened in country after country—from Panama, Grenada and Vietnam to Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya and Syria. Its military operations over the past quarter-century have resulted in the deaths of at least a million people.

True that.

My daughter, a notorious liberal while at major Midwest university not noted for a liberal bias, had to drop her poly-sci course because even she felt that the polemics were so one sided and intolerant of alternate viewpoints that the course was absolutely worthless.

Working in the real world has modified her world view considerably.

Then again, I wasn't too surprised at the change because she always had a finely tuned bullshit detector.

A gift that no university can impart and most seem to want to actively destroy.

No one can deny that Putin stopped the Syrian war that Obama tried to start with lies about sarin, and probably saved at least 100,000 lives, and he is nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for that.  And he gave asylum to Snowden when no other country in this world would do that.  And Snowden's revelations have been invaluable for human freedom and dignity.

If "akak" does not give others the freedom to think and believe as they want, he is a controlling fascist fool.  I suppose if he finds the world not to his personal preferences, he will pull out of it too.

Pulitzer Prize-winning investigative journalist Seymour Hersh has published an article demonstrating that the US government and President Barack Obama knowingly lied when they claimed that the Syrian government had carried out a sarin gas attack on insurgent-held areas last August.

You need to just observe a little more closely. Obama was the puppet of Saudi and Qatari agitators for their precious pipeine project through Syria.

It was largely stopped by the blogosphere and ZH played a major role in facilitating that. Sure, it played into Puttin's hands - how couldn't it when Obana proved he was a total tool?

Putin is playing realpolitik there and nothing more.  Just outplayed and outmanevred the US/Israelis/Saudis & Gulf States/Turkey.

Obviously fooki sam isn't capable of understanding the second sentence of this quote:

"Whether the mask is labelled Fascism, Democracy, or Dictatorship of the Proletariat, our great adversary remains the Apparatus—the bureaucracy, the police, the military. Not the one facing us across the frontier or the battlelines, which is not so much our enemy as our brother's enemy, but the one that calls itself our protector and makes us its slaves. No matter what the circumstances, the worst betrayal will always be to subordinate ourselves to this Apparatus, and to trample underfoot, in its service, all human values in ourselves and in others."

Wow, that´s a very good post.  What you just wrote is paralleling something I am reading to help me make a better guy.  I am not going to mention the book as I have had enough of junks for today.

Avoiding dishonesty and all evil is good for the soul, and will make things better not just for the individual, but it will seep out into the world as a whole.

There is power in that kind of thinking.  Kudos.

Maybe THAT should be another resolution: avoiding dishonesty (esp. here at ZH).

Come on, you can't let some people's behavior towards you change your behavior towards other people. I am interested.

Also, about avoiding people, I don't think that if a person shows one flaw we should avoid that person in entirely unrelated forms of interaction. It is just that honesty, of all human traits, is so fundamentally important that almost all forms of human interaction depend on it. Losing that is about the worst thing a person can do to to oneself.

I have especially enjoyed learning that the US will not acknowledge Crimea's attempts to use the exact same legal maneuvers Kosovo used to gain independence from Serbia, which the US supported.

A tool of the government? Usually that isn't needed when your country is under attack, not that lying isn't a function of most regimes like ours here in the States, but the best propaganda Putin can dish out is simply to tell the truth. If I had to fault him, it would be in not telling enough of the truth, such as against the opposition, us. Expose all of our lies, all the NGO/CIA et al associations, not to mention all the startup capital that feeds firms like Twitter, Facebook etc. Expose the usual false flag ops with our economic hitmen, and jackals.... which Ukraine is full of just now, as well as others in Venezuela etc. They are doing a decent job educating their people about this pattern from the 90s under Yeltsin when our friendly oligarchs took over and destroyed the state, its economy etc. Same thing we did with the Bolsheviks, the Nazis etc. See the pattern? It's the same one everytime. Welcome to the NWO, the Global Police State, something they would prefer to finish before Mother Nature comes in to do her cyclical Spring cleaning... hinted to be next month, and every 28 million years, the geologic records tell us it's a species extinction level event... and you can see that there aren't many species left on the planet other than us, our pets and our food sources. This is why some call it a 26, some call it a 30 million year cycle.... every time this 'dark star' of ours, a brown dwarf or "cool, dark star" as NASA prefers to call it, comes around in its nearest approach... said to be around Pluto's orbital zone... so not a direct hit for us, but it affects or resets the outer planetery orbits and thus ours over the following years, BUT, the real 'cleaner' is what follows.... think 'Day After Tomorrow' but add cometary fireballs, volcanoes and major EQs as the planet's EM field changes. Should be fun. Can't wait, how about all of you?

Putin doesn't need to tell his people that they are under attack, they had our type of 'lux' just a few years back, they recognize evil when we present it to them, too bad so many in Ukraine don't... and I don't think they'll get enough time to learn before the jackals take it to the next level.... false flag attack, if the chatter today is correct: www.youtube.com/watch?v=pzjbJbK48jQ [A poster below it says it is in Ukrainian, not Russian just in case that issue is imagined]

Occasionally there are some useful links in the comments sections in anything Putin-related but yeah Putin is nothing but a classic Russian strongman and little more.

Losers (as almost always) will be the little guy in Ukraine who get caught between either the US/EU dragent or invaded by Russia.  In an ideal world, Ukraine would be allowed to choose its own path and vote accordingly.  In real life with Russia right on their door step, that will never happen.

Not a question of when Russian tanks and massive infantry columns move into eastern Ukraine but a question of when.  Putin will repeat exactly what he did in Georgia, carve out/annext large portions of eastern Ukraine and the Crimea, and the international community will do nothing because China supports them and the rest of the world doesn't care enough.

The only way things will really heat up is if Putin marches massive armored columns through Western Ukraine and essentially tries to annex the entire Ukraine outright while threatening neighboring countries including Poland and Romania.  At that point, even the EU/NATO would have to respond and respond ina viable way or cease to be a non-entity.

Putin is a very shrewd politician.  He knows that American foreign policy is in disarray.  It is unfair to have a duel of wits with an unarmed opponent (the US).  We all want to believe that Russia is being hurt financially by this crisis.  But is it?  While the USD crumbles, Russia has accumulated 1000 tons of gold which is going up in value.  The US and US backed IMF will need to bail out the Ukraine on it's debt.  These debts are owed to Russia, so in essence, the US/IMF will be paying Russia billions.  And this still won't stop Putin from annexing the Crimea and possibly the Eastern Ukraine.  So who is winning?

BTW, freezing the assets of Russian expats will be shooting ourselves (the US) in the foot.  The Russians have been buying US real estate for cash.  Freezing their assets will derail our weakening housing recovery. Russians are also major depositors in off-shore accounts.  How many international banks will be hurt by freezing Russian assets?  I'm sure there are bankers who are peeing in their pants right now.

Russia cutting off oil and gas shipments would hurt the EU countries badly. Russia could stop accepting payment for oil/gas in USDs, driving the USD even lower as other currencies or gold rush in to fill the void.  Higher energy costs for the EU countries will also damage US trade, since the the US companies sell 35% of their exports to the EU, and the EU will have less money to buy them, or just dump their depreciating USDs for other currencies.

Occasionally if the article is on a specific economic topic or issue (non-Fed usualy), you get some really good or insightful commentary that is useful and at times enlightening.

Indeed, he is a happy man.

The ham-fisted ass-hats in the US State Dept. formented a revolution they cant control and gave him carte-blanche to 'secure' the majority Russian population in Crimea and spur the autonomous region into a referendum vote to ally with Russia rather than the West.

Has anyone seen hoardes of pro-west Crimean refugees trying to bust through to escape the bear?

Free beach front property for him and let the Anglo-American /EU axis take the west and it's unsupportable debt.

The pipelines are private property and are absolutely worthless without gas in them so they are pretty well hands off.

Win for Putin and a win for IMF banking cabal.

A bit of suck for the Western Ukraine when they have to dance to Christine's tune for their supper but that's the price they chose.

At least for the present...

Things could change momentarily.

$36.50 a day ain't much.

Obama would have to pay at least double that for me to post something positive about him.

That is, if I could think of something...

Ok, I got it.

"Don't forget. Obama is half white."

Ummm...er....ahh...

Damn, this is too much like work.

Fuck it.
