Crimea will apply tomorrow to join Russia:
Crimea's regional government will make a formal application today to join the Russian Federation, the local pro-Moscow leader said on Twitter after a disputed referendum to break away from Ukraine.
"The Supreme Soviet of Crimea will make an official application for the republic to join the Russian Federation at a meeting on March 17," Sergiy Aksyonov said in a tweet.

The U.S. is rejecting the vote in Crimea even before the results are released.
The White House says Sunday's referendum on succession is contrary to Ukraine's constitution.
The U.S. says the world won't recognize the results of a vote held under what it says are "threats of violence and intimidation from a Russian military intervention that violates international law."
A written statement from the White House calls Russia's actions in Ukraine "dangerous and destabilizing."
The U.S. is urging other nations to "take concrete steps to impose costs" against Russia.
Secession was expected to be approved overwhelmingly.

Dear Sir,First I would like to congratulate on the very successful democratic vote undertaken in the Crimea I will copy this email to all the embassy's of Russia and others around the world
Quite clearly the people of Crimea have spoken and spoken loudly and with one voice.
With a 79 % turnout and a thundering 93 % vote to join Russia they have seen through the propaganda the lies and spin and voted with their feet.
Not only to join the Russian Federation, but for their right to self determination.
This is a truly remarkable vote of confidence, and all democratic people should be delighted that what the people of Crimea decided, they decided in such overwhelming numbers.
This is showing a true vision for what the people of a country want by such an overwhelming measure of support and such a tremendous level of unity.
Unfortunately this event is marred , indeed scarred by the weasel words of many, those who would deny the people of Crimea a voice whilst pretending to be democrats themselves by nature.
Instead they resort to lies, propaganda and spin. And worse.
Obama claims the the people of Crimea and their voice will be ignored, that the election was illegal, then lied about his own intentions when he broke the agreement reached and signed in February with Russia.
Further he was involved in attacking the people of Crimea and the Ukraine by clandestine support and use of thuggery and corruption to destabilize the situation in an attempt to gain power in the region and many of us know well and understand the machinations of his government.
Many despair at the extravagances and distortions of the very same people who profess to espouse the very essence of democracy whilst denying it not only to their own people but to those in Crimea and elsewhere. Such is the sanctimonious barkings of those who will now have tantrums in Washington and in London and Brussels. Be assured that many many people in the US in the UK and in Europe cheer the democratic activities taking place in Crimea and could only dream that their own countries could have such unity on an issue, instead of being riven in two by the ceaseless trampling of democracy in thier own countries and have such unity amongst their own citizens.With rights fought for, and earned over centuries being trampled now by the gross distortions of truth as the weak and feeble crony politicians, obama Barrusso and Camoron vie with each other to make the loudest noises and the biggest threats, more people that one might imagine in the West understand what has happened today,
The lies concerning the so called invasion of Crimea by Russia, when the truth is that just in 2010 an agreement was signed by the Ukrainian Government for the Russian bases in Crimea to be extended until 2046 are glossed over and ignored. The cries of the act of an election being called, being branded illegal, is breathtaking in its hypocrisy. But the illegal puppets now installed in Kiev, by the puppet masters of the US the CIA and the illegal undemocratic and unaccountable actions being undertaken in the UK and in Brussels as added support does not go unnoticed by millions in the west who see through this charade. They see these actions and events for what they really are, and that is not to say they are blind to the actions taken by the Russian Government either, or in any way condone those actions that destroy peoples rights, but the sheer depth of hypocrisy in this instance regarding Crimea is beyond the pale. Today the so called foreign secretary of the UK denounced the result and had the gall and temerity to claim that the UK will not recognize the wishes of the Crimean people. You can be certain that millions of British are cheering the Crimean people and are sickened by the hypocrisy of the foreign secretary, who denounces the election, when his own government reneged on a promise of a referendum over Europe, thereby stabbing his own people in the back.Such things are not forgotten or forgiven by millions in the USA or the UK or Europe, This only persuades those such as myself to write to you to confirm that the feeble words and risible actions and grandstanding by these politicians can not and will not mark an acceptable standard by which we would wish to judged.
Instead we denounce it loudly on behalf of the people of Crimea and our support for their rights to Vote for their own self determination, and to send a clear unambiguous message to those politicians in the West that they should tread carefully in these troubled times and weigh their words and actions first.

Declaring a “national emergency” over the planned referendum in Crimea to determine whether or not to join Russia, the US president asserts that asset seizure is possible for any US person “determined by the Secretary of the Treasury, in consultation with the Secretary of State”:
