Australian PM Says May (Or May Not) Have Found Objects Belonging To Flight MH370
Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott has some interesting comments in the dreadful disappearance of Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. While addressing parliament today, he stated:

There is not much color yet but it appears that 2 objects have been found and the Aussies are diverting more aircraft to search the area.

Australia's prime minister says objects possibly related to the missing Malaysia Airlines flight have been spotted on satellite imagery.
Prime Minister Tony Abbott told Parliament in Canberra on Thursday that a Royal Australian Airforce Orion has been diverted to the area to attempt to locate the objects. The Orion is expected to arrive in the area Thursday afternoon. Three additional aircraft are expected to follow for a more intensive search.

Mr Abbott described the breakthrough as "new and credible information."
"The Australian maritime safety authority has received information based on satellite imagery of objects possibly related to the search," Mr Abbott said.
"Following specialist analysis of this satellite imagery, two possible objects related to the search have been identified."
Mr Abbott said he had informed his Malaysian counterpart, Prime Minister Najib Razak, and promised to keep him updated.
Abbott cautioned, however, that the task of locating these objects will be extremely difficult and "it may turn out that they are not related to the search for flight MH370."

One half of the political tag-team that is skull fucking this nation at the behest of their owners. If he opens his mouth, my immediate response is to call bullshit...or just laugh at the stupid shit he says.
Australia has neither a political party nor a single politician who I can call visionary.
As for Tony Abbot (Liberal) he is definitely not the sharpest knife in the draw and may be a few chromosones short as well.
The previous two labor leaders were pathetic as well. Kevin Rudd had a narcissistic ego and Julia Gillard was totally out of her league, hated by even her own party members.

For a country as rich and trouble free as Australia, its achievements fall far short of potential.
Just wait for its property bubble to burst as soon as the Chinese money stops and then reverses direction.
My venom is a response to Abbott's reliance on three word slogans and watching him orate as through he suffers from dementia.
His political party's detailed budget and plan for governance really makes me grind my teeth, though. It is a pantomime of modern democracy. Truly sublime.
As for the 'opposition' party...I guess I can thank them for indoor plumbing, but they have long since expended the political capital gained by that modest achievement. Today they are simply a farce.
The closest that an Australian PM has come to being truly visionary would be Keating. Though to be fair, he did borrow his best economic reforms from a commission and report called by Fraser; a report that called for widespread neoliberal microceconomic reforms. Now aborted, with it's festering remains stiched into the closet Keynesian, mercantilistic, Frankenstien's monster that exists today.
It's simply product differentiation and and act, Joh Bjelke Petersen did the same thing, you talk weird, sound like a naive yokel, play dumber-than dogshit, get underestimated, and then you pounce, smash the opposition and win.
Joh did that for 20 years. Ronald Regan was also master of the art. Abbott is doing the same thing. The guys that rise to that top and use this technique are the most calculating and effective of all. And let me remind you that George W Bush did exactly the same thing.
None of these men were ever dumb, they were just extremely effective. And all from the Right of politics.

I have only a limited understanding of rational and public choice theories; that actors are primarily self interested, that they focus on ends that interest them and the means they use to achieve those ends have the greatest percieved excess of benefits to cost. This is important because a criticism of the current government is that 'they had a plan to win the election, but no plan to govern.'
Their ends were simply to get into power. Post hoc justifications of a 'mandate' aside, their motivation for seeking power was never made clear to the Australian public. Now that Abbott and friends hold the balance of power, self interest will motivate them to hold onto that power via the 'rational' means they seem to be most experienced with, ie. dog whistles, finger pointing, disinformation, secrecy, post hoc bullshit, slogans and quotes short enough to fit on a headline. All designed to keep the sheep distracted while the owners sell their farm out from under them.
I would much prefer to believe that Abbott is a simpleton with a disproportionate sense of entitlement and anger management issues. A junk-yard terrier, that believes it's a mastiff. Much better stupid than evil. But what the fuck do I know? He's probably just a nice guy with not-bad-looking daughters, right?
Although I have no familiarity with the theories you mention, it occurs to me you are describing a perfectly rational person pursuing their values and most people would call that 'normal' behavior and the use of sound judgement. You are just implying the distinction they will use any means to achieve that desired end, so not really normal actually.
So you are saying in effect that normal people are self-moderating individuals, who will not use every means they could to achieve their desired end, but will feel a moral influence that is more important to them than the end. So you feel strongly that this self-limiting is more significant than the absence of restraint. Well, there are many people acting without restraint in this world and so far at least, old Joe and Abbott do act with self-imposed limits and restraint.
Erdogan on the other hand is exhibiting the sort of lack of restraint and a capacity to do anything to get what he wants, that is actually psychopathic. Can you imagine a blathering prick like that in Canberra?
So I don't buy the branding of Abbott as one thing or the other. If he's a psycho he's a very self-disciplined one, and self-discipline is self-regulation and self-moderation.
He does not seem to fit the psycho category of someone with no restraint to achieve an ends. So I can't consider him particularly abnormal. However, he did speak much faster when he was a front bench minister, he didn't play this dumb and slow routine ten years ago, so that's most likely a considered deception, a tactic that could be described as a subterfuge That I would accept. But that's what politics is, tricking people into giving away their power and their money voluntarily, for state protection.
Well I think we probably do agree on what we think of that.
I'll leave it with this comment: I found the video of Abbott as a talking animal dishonest and deceptive, and seemed to be created by a pretty spiteful person. I can't imagine doing something like that to any one. It wasn't funny, it was just vicious, and smacked of strong political or ideological motivations of a pretty vile sort.
Now, do you find it entertaining and it made to snicker with glee, or did you find it in poor taste, without a point and juvenile?

I regard Abbott as an empty suit, so my preferred mode of 'attack' on the guy is to use his own statements against him, to hold him to account for any claims he makes in office, or in pursuit of office. Give the guy enough rope and allow him to hang himself.
I didn't find the Hyena face video particularly entertaining. It would have been better, IMHO, just to give a bit of extra context to that Kerry O'Brian interview, so that the uninformed could make up their own minds about Abbott.
What I find distasteful is the guy pimping his daughters out on a reality TV show. The PR jerk that came up with that stunt should be ostracised from polite society.

CIA "Boeing Uninterruptable Autopilot" was always in Control
CIA/BOEING admit taking control over the airplane as soon it was airborne, ... comm & all, and there was nothing the pilots could do about it, even Cell phone jamming is built into the 777, so say experts.
“It really boils down to who ultimately was controlling that aircraft in the final portions of the aircraft’s flight because when it took off it was under the command of two humans, a 53 year old captain and 27 year old copilot. At any point after the autopilot was selected, an agency with the ability to remotely take control of that airliner – if any of those agencies pushed the button to take control of that airliner – they would have been in control and the crew could have done nothing [about it], and that is due to the feature called the Boeing Uninterruptable Autopilot,” McConnell said.
According to McConnell, this is not a conspiracy idea or potential feature of the aircraft; it can be done with current technology onboard the plane.
“Boeing Aircraft Company on the 3rd of March of 2007 said that they did indeed have the Boeing Uninterruptable Autopilot deployed. In the article where they announced it, they said by the end of 2009 all airliners in the world would be thus equipped. That brings us to 2014, which is five years after 2009,” McConnell said.
If this had involved a Delta flight operating in the United States, Delta, the FAA, the Air Force or the Navy could have captured control of the aircraft, including landing procedures, and taken it away from the flight crew using Boeing’s technology the meant to protect us against another September 11 type attack. Control of the aircraft once taken cannot be regained by the flight crew.
Fox News has reported that “At 1:19 p.m. on March 8, 12 minutes after the plane had changed course to the west, co-pilot Fariq Abdul Hamid gave a routine ‘All right, good night’ in his final radio call.” And on “The Kelly File" Wednesday night, former FAA spokesman Scott Brenner said one of the pilots must have entered the new direction into the flight management system, which he said would be virtually impossible for either the pilot or copilot to do without the other noticing. However the pilots may not have been responsible for entering the new waypoints that took the plane on a westward trajectory, according to McConnell.
“I don’t think they did do it, but even if the human pilots caused that excursion to the West, Malaysian Airlines FOC, which is the systems operations center, they would have the ability to capture their own aircraft [and] so would a variety of other entities,” McConnell explained.

Not only is it “uninterruptible” — so that even a tortured pilot cannot turn it off — but it can be activated remotely via radio or satellite by government agencies. The system might even include senors on the cockpit door that activate the autopilot of a certain amount of force is used against it. “There is a need for a technique that ensures the continuation of the desired path of travel of a vehicle by removing any type of human decision process that may be influenced by the circumstances of the situation, including threats or further violence onboard the vehicle,” the patent application explains. To make it fully independent, the system also has its own power supply, independent of the aircraft’s circuit breakers.

Lots of smokes and mirrors! The things on the satelite images dont look like airplane parts and might even be unusual wave forms. I would be surprised if they found anything (mainly because they dont want to). To me the most interesting lead is still the eye witnesses from the Maledives, that is if it can be confirmed that they really said what was published and/or havent changed their minds since...

Now the focus has turned to Diego Garcia too much for their comfort so they have to do something to get that focus away from there. And lo and behold. How convenient but the truth still is:

- Satellite data suggests that the last "ping" was recieved from the flight somwhere close to the Maldives and the US naval base on Diego Garcia.
