Now that the non-fighting and the Crimean annexation is over, all that's left are cheap words and hollow threats.
First, Ukraine has effectively given up on claims to Crimea...

... but hopes to make Russia's life more difficult:

And just in case Russia decides to steamroll unobstructed into other areas of East Ukraine, Kiev is pretending it is taking measures:

Finally, Ukraine somehow still thinks it has any leverage:

Good read but I think Orlov has it competely wrong with the parallels between the Soviet Union's collapse and the U.S. in 2014 terms.
First off the U.S.S.R. would never have threatened it's borders, first with Yugoslavia, then Georgia and with Chechnya the way the U.S. has for nearly two decades. Second and the icing on the cake is going after Russia's most important naval bases and maritime industries. It would be like Russia in 1990 taking control of Richmond through a coup and attempting the sabotage and takeover of Newport News and Oceana Virginia!
We have much to learn from the ex-Soviet Russian peaceful transition that ensued against all those "obstacles" that could have taken the U.S.'s extreme path but didn't!
I think Putin's speech after the Crimea vote is both his and the Country's finest hour. The U.S .and NATO motivations were the opposite of it's intentions and it ended up cementing Ukraine and Russia even closer.
Shit will really begin to hit the fan when the Western part of the region of Ukraine asks Russia for inclusion alongside Crimea. And it will happen.
Then we will see what the U.S. is willing to risk once that takes place!

Also fewer Russian tourists will visit Ukraine. This will make a big impact, since most tourists coming to Ukraine are Russians.
