"We'll Destroy Twitter" Blasts Turkish PM

Tyler Durden's picture

It appears the madness is contagious. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, embroiled in an ongoing and huge corruption probe, lashed out at "international conspiracies" in a speech at a rally in Bursa. "We'll dig up Twitter - all of them - from the roots," he raged, "they'll see the power of the Republic of Turkey." With the looming elections - sure to fair and equitable to all - he warned he would "settle scores" after winning. Indeed...

Via Bloomberg,

“We’ll dig up Twitter and so on -- all of them -- from the roots."

"When people say, ‘Sir, the international community would say this or that,’ it doesn’t interest me at all," Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan says today, according to state-run Anatolia news agency.

Erdogan, quoted at a rally in Bursa, also says:

Court decision has been made regarding Twitter, without elaborating on the decision

"International conspiracies are a part of this"

"They’ll see the power of the Republic of Turkey"

Social media vs. crazed oligarchs.

At least we know which side the ZeroKnowledge crowd is rooting for.

ZeroHeads hate government so much that they want government to make a "gold backed" currency.

outamyeffinway's picture

Ironic isn't it?

"Don't control our lives  but please, control our money!"

fonestar's picture

It would mean they would have to take responsibility, stop shifting blame and maybe even learn something.

So in other words, not happening.

Steve in Greensboro's picture

Actually, we would like the U.S. government to exit the currency business and banking business altogether.  Let the market decide.  Laissez faire, et laissez le bon temps roulez.

TPTB_r_TBTF's picture

Free Markets are inherently inefficient.

The real world is populated by humans who don’t have complete information, who may have bad information, and some who just make mistakes.  Many free market participants act irrationally, and they all act egoistically.

O.k., o.k., who mentioned the Armenian genocide?

DoChenRollingBearing's picture

Most of us do know a gold-backed currency is not flexible.  Why not just have gold reserves, as Europe does?  The Euro is not backed by anything, yet they account for it at market value quarterly.

Of course, the solution for individual ZeroHeads is to become your own central bank!  Buy physical gold!

BTC can be part of that equation too.

Optional: CA$H, water & food, guns & ammo, key medicines, the list goes on forever...

fonestar's picture

Yes and gold has nothing to do with a gold standard.  Just like GLD has nothing to do with GOLD.

Only a scammer and a fake libertarian would want government involved in any type of currency issuance.

DoChenRollingBearing's picture

Let a thousand currencies compete!

(I do not understand the reds for yr benign comment)

alangreedspank's picture

No government in currencies is the ideal. But even going back to a fake gold standard (1933-1971) would be a plus.

fonestar's picture

There is no reason for any "standards" whatsoever.  If you have circulating gold & silver coins you don't need "standards".  And if you put .gov markings all over the coins that's saying that the .gov writing, mottos and not the content that is important.  Or your county's gold is somehow better than another country's gold.  It's pretty easy to see how the posters here, their parents and grandparents were swindled.

DontGive's picture

But what will all the gov tit sucking useless eaters do if they can't controll our lives?! You selfish foney, wont you think of the childrens?

alangreedspank's picture

Your criticism of the 1933-1971 "gold standard" is invalid as there was no coins circulating at all.

fonestar's picture

fonestar was speaking of "standards" in general.  If there is one ounce of silver or gold in a disk, there is no reason to call them dollars, pounds, rubles, yen... whatever.

KickIce's picture

That's because a gold standard helps control politicians and bankers.

Just take a look at the CPI post 1971.

Bend over and grease up for TPTB douche.  You all know they're invincible.

Classical Erdogan citizenism: introducing extortion as being done to the benefit of the extorted and through the sacrifice of the extorter.

It is a mattering point because Erdogan citizenism citizens love to sell some social virtues like loyalty to nation, race, team or whatever group that be when it is obvious that the thing that has held them up together is that ganging up to extort, defraud, and plunder.

Other people, well, they know that Erdogan citizenism stands very high in the list of systems that roots deep in fantasical references...

I may actually like that shithole Turkey now.  Twitter is for tards and narcissist fanboys.

Erdogan should go have a bagel and wash it down with hemlock.  Maybe Zukerberg can join him.
