All Aboard The Bus To Home Ownership
With home-ownership rates collapsing and the likelihood of 'wealth taxes' potentially weighing on even the oligarchs and 1%-ers willingness to throw cash at US housing, we thought the following rusting hulks of a bye-gone era in a strorage yard deep in Middle America summed it all up...
The American Homeownership Dream is officially dead...
And here are the bodies...

Hey a family could live in one of those.
We do.
eventually you'll need to weld wire cages over the windows to keep the zombies out, have you thought of good locations for firing ports?
Remember when all we had to worry about was misplacing one of your credit cards & keeping up with the Jone's? Gosh I miss those days.
I live in a tenement. But at least I own it. Bitches.
you live in the nut sacks that hang under your eyes, sleepless from the desperation
Don't you just love that Orwelling word: "OWNERSHIP". Nobody OWNS their home these days, even if it's fully paid off - still gotta pay rent to the government for having a "property".
true i have been assessed by the city for a street project in my neighbor hood
if i don't pay i lose my home...
Not only that, but there are serious issues now thanks to MERS and the stripping of mineral rights. The MERS system was essentially created on the premise that no one will ever actually pay off their home, so there's no reason to worry about authentic documents. Push zero down, interest only, ARM, rate resets, etc. Push reverse mortgages, the notion of "downsizing", refinancing, HELOC. With policies such as those, there are no owners, only slaves. Those who dare to own still, as mentioned, pay rent to the government indefinitely and are forced out if fixed income fails to keep up with increased valuation. Virtually any home that had a mortgage post 2001... you just try and pay it off, see how hilarious the process becomes when you want your deed. The parents are 18-months post-payoff and have yet to receive anything apart from bullshit and excuses for the delays and they bought back in the 90s before all this crap, never HELOC'd, never flipped, never played any of those games.
Off topic - Which nation has the best laws for home and property ownership? Which has the lowest, or non-taxes for RRE? Such as you buy the house, pay no tax or a sales tax at time of purchase, and you own the land and all water, oil, gas, mining, mineral and other rights to the Earth's Core.
Any place like that?
I hear that taxes in Central and Eastern Europe are very very low and one time only, and that one 'truly owns' after purchase.
Anyone know?
Unless you build an island somewhere, out in international waters, far enough away from an EEZ that no claim can be made, and you have the ability to actually defend it, and you go through the formalities of being recognized internationally... sorry, but you don't "own" anything. If the government can "condemn" it or use emiment domain to seize it, or it can be seized by a court or law enforcement for any reason, you don't own it. If you have to pay taxes for occupying it, you don't own it.
Back during feudal times, here's the system:
The sovereign owns all the land and tracts of said land are provided to various buddies and allies to support said sovereign. In return for this land, taxes are to be paid and armies raised. This was parcelled out to smaller chunks and you have your lords and whatnot who are generally the knights. The commoners are effectively just slaves on the land, but generally speaking, it wasn't all too bad. You get shelter, you get food, you get some basic medical care.. you're just kinda sorta tied to the land unless you can get a release and either make your own way in a market town or be accepted by another lord. Generally speaking though, you don't own anything, it's not your land and you pay your taxes which are funnelled up the chain with each middleman taking their share.
The whole "free market" concept is based on the ending of that way of life. You're not tied to the land, but you have to go out and buy your own chains and make your own way in the world. You have more choice, but in the end, the ruling class still rules, they just have far less obligation to give a shit about the serfs. Laws are not intended for the serfs. Serf-serf crimes, whatever.. no one cares. Ruler-Serf crimes, the Ruling class gets off with nothing. Serf-Ruler crimes, the Serf gets the full throbbing dick of the law jammed up as far as it goes. Ruler-Ruler laws, it's just a battle of money and the media plays it up while the end result will just be a settlement.
Everyone once in a blue moon (rarer actually) you see something extraordinary, where david beats goliath, the initial ruling will be played up, while the actual end result is far far far less than what you're told on the idiot box (you can either settle and get something now, or drag it out for the next 20 years.)
That's just the way of the world. You don't land, you just don't. If anything, land owns you. As such, bickering over usage rights and whatever is pointless. 50 years? 70 years? 99 years? Who cares, by the time any of those come to pass, odds are you'll be dead, leave the problems of the living to the living to deal with. In the meantime, hell yes, all that tax up front is the best deal there is. Because then at least you have some stability regardless of circumstances.
You are answering a question I did not ask.
I asked for the nation with THE BEST LAWS.
I did not ask for perfect, zero taxes, freehold for eternity+1 years.
Example:
EE has very very low RRE taxes, one-off sales tax, then nothing forever.
I ask again:
Which country has the best laws wrt with RRE, lowest taxes and all the mineral etc rights?
Oh it's those pictures again of chernobyl; the russian scrap yard - right?

Tyler, please do us a favor and ban this piece of shit "Mister Kitty", as well as his other handle "The Vineyard", and any other handles he may have. And not just for us, the readers--having this fuckface hanging around spamming his racist blog is a disgrace to this website.
"eventually you'll need to weld wire cages over the windows to keep the zombies out, have you thought of good locations for firing ports?"
High pressure pump and a blowout cover over the septic.
At the rate and in the direction things are going, Millennials & Gen Z will need to look into something closer to the bus featured in the movie "Into The Wild," and that's just damn depressing.
The beauty of a bus / RV is being mobile. Your main challenge is finding the next tank of juice.
Get a sailboat and the billowing clouds blowing is your juice. No Zombies, only albatross and whales.
I don't care about pollution
I'm an air-conditioned gypsy
That's my solution
Watch the police and the taxman miss me!
I'm mobile! Oh yeah he he
Mobile, mobile, mobile, yeah!
Going Mobile - The Who
Not so fast there, you will still pay taxes on the bus/mobile home every year. Although taxes and insurance will be a lot less than a house, and you cold register it in a state where the annual tax/registration is low. Just the other day I was thinking how years ago people would go to Mexico for the winter and live on the beach for next to nothing. Those were the days.

if you think it's funny now, wait until that sucker is sitting on a few flat tires in a couple of years.
Why didn't the photog take out a knife and slash the damn tires?
The Partridge Family.
And look how well the kids turned out!
(I have not a damned clue why I just thought of that)
Because you (and I) were thinking of "Normal"
The Partridge Family and Cleavers are "Normal"
The rest of us are fucked up.
Where's my bus, dude?
You could make a pretty nice RV or party bus out of one of those baby's . . . . .
Two busses stacked together can make a nice home!!
Doublewide Bus
... nice ...
... oh man that's just wrong ...
... talk about jingle mail ...
... new adventures with the tailer park trash ...

Not double wide, a stacker like they have in London. Fueled by biodiesel, you know french fry grease. It'll work great until the Dear Leader's old hag has everyone eating fruits and veggies.
Somehow I doubt that line is going to stop at the lows of the early 90s this time.
Perhaps 1890's.
I found that very funny, thank you.
+1 isn't enough sometimes
Yes, perhaps.
Next stop: Pottersville
Remember that TZ episode? The circle jerk hasn't changed a bit.
FUCK GOOGLE BUS
BURN THE GOOGLE BUS
FUCK GOOGLE EMPLOYEES

How's that MS treating you Hawking? Uh, it's a Bank of America bus . . . .
ALS Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis not MS small detail Einstein.
MS, ALS, SOS - what's the difference? BTW - that's "Sunstein" to you . . . . small detail.
Uh...well ALS is usually fatal, MS is usually not. Yeah small detail.
Kundalini Express.
That was on the outward journey.
On they way back they changed the sigen to "Next stop: Forclosure".
Arrest Bernanke. Don't let him get away.
I seem to recall that the bus driver's name was Linda Green.
lmao!
Susan Rice was navigating.
LOL- Peg-gy.
You've got some enlightening ideas. Understanding> Not spelling<
Homeowners got thrown under the bus.
buzz, many 'Homeowners' who could not afford a house threw themselves under the bus also.
and then thrown in the bus.

Let me guess, you entered the front of the bus and in the middle were the sub-prime loan officers, and then got shitted out the back 15 minutes later?
That's good sattire. In real life!
Nearly on blocks, but not quite.
Going to hell in a hand basket - thanks to this administrations insane Marxist ideals.
uhhhh- I think that bus was last used in the Shrubya regime
Bush has not been president for almost six years or can't you even read a chart?
Doesn't matter. Obama will NEVER be accountable and brainwashed American Leftists will chant for decades that 'he was cleaning up the biggest mess ever, of course he could not fix it...".
Never mind that Bush was POTUS for 33 weeks and 3 days, 9-11 happened, and EVERYONE says it was his fault.
Yet here we are in month 62 of Barack's presidency and still nothing is his fault.
He will never be blaimed or held account for anything. Ever.
It's a perfect projection of American Leftism - the responsibility is for the OTHER guy.
This is the attitude of a child.
Leftists and Obama are children.
Fascist, actually.
"Fascism is ownership of the state by corporations. It could also be called Corporatism."
Benito Mussolini
Obamacare, centrally planned financial systems, food stamp escalation, and I could go on and on are all socialist ideas. I do not deny that there is a degree of fascism at work here but this man is a Marxist just like his daddy.
Freddie Mac. We make home possible. And grammar gooder too.
Yes, but this bus was heading straight for the Poor House, with stops at Foreclosureville, Robosignings R' Us and the law offices of Dewey, Cheatham and Howe.
Understanding :corner stones:
In the 17th and 18th centuries laying cornerstones required significant sacrifice,
Two laborers would oppose each other in opposite directions, knowing their demise, made a pact.
And your point is? Next time maybe you should lay off the Bud (or bud) before you post on ZH . . . . .
When I see stuff like this, I immediately wonder if the people who approved the idea still have a job. Then I get frustrated when I realize they probably do, and their subordinates who got blamed for it probably don’t.
Intermodal freight is expanding on new housing frontier’s. This new NRA inventory projection can scale up housing demands. Was it Johnson Crapo bill? or something.
They are now not only fitting out shipping containers with bathrooms and toilets but are also constructing multi storey housing out of them.
The sorry development I have witnessed in housing over 50 odd years is that once upon a time housing was serving the needs of humans. These days housing serves the needs of the banking and political classes.
Gone are the days when I witnessed workers being able to pay off their homes in a decade.
Gone are the days of simple homes but sturdy homes.
Soon too, gone will be the days when parents will be able to leave the family home to their children because they will be forced to borrow against it to pay their bills and survive.
gone will be the days when parents will be able to leave the family home to their children because...
...the Medicaid assistance they were placed into received first position on their assets at the time of their death. This is the most insidious truth of the ACA most are completely unaware of as end of life care is many times the most costly health care provided whether wanted or not. This fact alone should've been enough to kill this creature before it was ever allowed to be born as this is a direct attack on the weakest and most vulnerable among us, widows and orphans.
Do buses pay property taxes.....yet?
If I was in charge I would end all property taxes for the reason ever person has a right to have a place to grow food and sleep.
As resources dwindle having a piece of land is going to be your only hope for survival.
In this new system we own nothing. The purpose of our name on the title deeds is only to assist government in determining to who to send the bills to.
@bobportlandor
Amen to that.. never stops giving if you love it it loves you back. Eternally it wil give
"Of course you own the land comrade! You own all the land!"
Next Stop: Riding the bus because you're too broke to drive.
Home... I have no home

Mortgage backed securities ought to be outlawed and their production and distribution made punishable by death.
Executions in the public square!
When Yellen was speaking the other day the TV "crawl" under her said that $25 billion of the new $55B per month purchases by the treasury would be MBS-mortgage backed securites. WTF? Are they buying them from Freddie/Fannie to bail them out?
"Home Ownership".....or just (yet) another layer of "External Control".
Soon the UN property tax will be on RV's as well lol. And then you'll get taxed to death over carbon tax, etc.
Any and all roads out are blocked or blown up by the matrix.
The bus is handing out mirrors along with home-loan applications.
If your breath can fog the mirror then you get the loan. It's the early 2000s all over again.
A one way trip to financial crazy town.
Hey the buses were like trains to financial Auschwitz. it sent people, the nation and the world to its financial death.
what a desperate ploy.
How about a bus caption "Road to Ruin. Hop onboard!" It's gonna be a bumpy race ro the bottom, so fasten your seat belts and take some Xanax.
So where exactly are they taking people? The local landfill? Out of town? A place of employment with the slogan "Work will set you free"? Or are these simply ghost buses paid for by the excessive fees charged to account holders and homeowners with mortgages being held hostage by the banks? Loan sharks, all of them. The "New Mafia" (understatement of The decade). If BOA failed it's stress test (as did the Fed), what the friggin' hell are they doing spending BS PR $s pimping buses around to pimp out he big lie? I mean, really. You can fool all of the people some of the time, you can fool some of the people all of the time, but it's damn near impossible to fool all of the people all of the time. What a friggin' joke. It's no wonder that in the 20th Century Great Depression people kept cash under thir mattresses. After all, today's mega banks are nothing more thn Robber Barons. Shameful!
Just saw this today.
