Canadian Province Considers Russian Booze Ban
Sanctions against billionaires - that's one (very much meaningless) thing. But halting sales of Russian vodka, now that could really cripple someone, just not clear who. And in an attempt to answer that question, the premier of Canada's Saskatchewan province, Brad Wall, says he is considering banning Russian booze in government-run liquor stores because of Russia’s actions in Ukraine. Wall says it’s a small measure, but sends a strong statement.

Yes, well, rhetoric is one thing. The realization that trade is bilateral (as both the EU and USA have realized in recent days), something completely different. Which is why despite the posturing, don't hold your breath. As Globanews reports, "Wall says trade issues have to be considered because Saskatchewan manufacturers sell shortline rail equipment into Russia.... the premier cautions that international trade can be complicated, so the province wants to work with the federal government to find out what trade sanctions are in the works." Here's the answer: none.
Still, this is a good marketing campaign for domestic booze makers nonetheless.
The Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority carries Russian Standard Vodka.
Why Saskatchewan? "Political violence in Ukraine hits home for many people in Saskatchewan where about 13 per cent of the population has Ukrainian roots."
Finally, there would be nothing quite like sending the price of Russian booze soaring, leading to bumper profits for producers and bootleggers, if indeed someone were to arbtirarily halt such a "liquid" trade channel. Which is why it will never happen. Just like nobody will ever say no to that other "liquid" Russian exports, no matter tha posturing - crude oil.

Yoh, like uh, grade "Eh dere"
I think eh dere is either rural Wisconsin or downtown Chicago dialect, no real difference between the cowherder mentality...
If Russia keeps globalist banksters out of the country they don't need any foreigners to buy a damn thing. They will have a free society compared to the EU or US bankster occupied stazi states.
The US Treasury's supposed gold holdings includes some Russian gold bars stored in the FRBNY
See weight list, the Russian bars are marked MOCKBA, on pdf page 145 and 146 at this link:

So do the US sanctions extend to selling their Russian gold bars? I wonder what Barry thinks about this?
Time for the Russian mob to pay this Roughrider a Visit. you bet "Ban Russian Vodka", I raise you by "dumping more potash on the market."
Brad, stick to raising farm boys, hockey players and two or three token Canadian Football Players for your so Precious Roughriders.
Can't have my Stolichnaya ? That's it -----I Surrender !
State owned liquor stores are nothing new. If I recall when I lived in Ohio you could only by hard stuff in state owned liquor stores and beer and wine was available in regular outlets. It may have changed but there are some really squirrely liquor laws in the USA. I think Jack Daniels is brewed in a dry county. They make it but you can't buy or drink it there. I read recently that a man distilling whiskey in either Oregon or Washington state was forced to bottle his own product, sell it to the state liquor control commission, pay the liquor tax on it, buy it back from them and only then was he able to resell it. America if you look in the history books that haven't been rewritten by the PTB you will recall and read about something called the Whiskey Rebellion. Just some food for thought. I recall you couldn't get Coors beer in Michigan back in the late 70's early 80's so of course the in crowd had to have Coors beer at parties. My buddies dad used to say after the first two beers you could piss in bottle, chill it and not taste the difference though he was a Pabst Blue Ribbon man and his taste buds may have been fried. Great weekend to all.
Yeah, but here it's only the state that sells booze and it costs three to four times as much. Except in Quebec, corner shops sell it and it's a lot cheaper.
I bet they keep their vodka minxes.
He's pissed about the potash...Sasketchewan gets smashed when potash does.
Good thing Smirnoff 100 comes out of Kentucky these days.
I was a quality control technician for Heublein, the company that makes Smirnoff. The ethanol came from Fleishmann's in Kansas. It was brought in by rail cars and subsequently cut with demineralized water to make the 80, 92, and 100 proof vodkas. The only difference in the Smirnoff vodka was that it was charcoal filtered and came in a fancier bottle. Save your money and buy Popov, Arrow, Relska, or Ostrova (Relska was the cheapest). They're all the same.
Cheers!
So even Canada's liquor stores are government run?!
So even Canada's liquor stores are government run, eh?
fixed it for ya!
Come and keep your comrade warm...
so dumb, I wonder what the Canadians would be saying when Quebexico took a vote on secession... oh wait..
http://www.businessinsider.com/quebec-parti-quebecois-and-the-push-towar...
so, it's OK for Quebec to take a referendum on secession, but if Crimea does it, it's against 'international law' and the right of self-determination? (yes, I know in the end they did not vote to secede, but they both claim the right to have a referendum in the first place, so what is wrong with Crimea's referendum? If the Crimean voters were intimidated we could be having a different discussion, but all indications are that they were not under any duress)
Time for the Kennedy Clan to spring into action - and start bootleggin' the booze into Canada.

If you are a Costco member, their "Kirkland's American" vodka (not the Kirkland's French) is at least as good as Grey Goose an 1/4 the price. Really.
