Poland Is Quietly Mobilizing Its Army Reservists
It seems the words of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warning that “the world stands on the brink of conflict, the consequences of which are not foreseen... Not everyone in Europe is aware of this situation," are a little more real than some (US equity buyers) might suspect. As The Week's Crispin Black reports, at least 7,000 Polish workers in Europe have received call-up papers as army reservists in the last few weeks. Polish authorities dismiss it as "routine" but the men note this has never happened before.
As The Week's Crispin Black goes on to note,
At least 7,000 reservists have been recalled to the colours for immediate exercises lasting between 10 and 30 days.
They’re told by the Polish authorities that the call-ups are “routine”: but the men say they haven’t been asked before and they’re well aware of the growing alarm in Warsaw at President Putin’s aggression.
Three weeks ago, their Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, called a press conference to warn that “the world stands on the brink of conflict, the consequences of which are not foreseen… Not everyone in Europe is aware of this situation.”
My own view is that Putin was initially more concerned with righting a specific historical wrong in Crimea than starting a new Cold War. This is still probably the case despite the dawning truth that the EU/Nato Emperor really has no clothes at all.
But in the worst case scenario of a truly revanchist Russia, Poland certainly has the borders from hell. Starting from the top, it abuts Kaliningrad (the Russian exclave on the Baltic carved at the end of the war from East Prussia), Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine.
None of these borders relies on any natural barriers like rivers or mountain ranges – they are just lines on a map drawn by Stalin in the full flush of victory. No wonder the Poles are feeling vulnerable.

Russia doesn't have to come for them. Russia would be delighted to see these reservists called up and their units deployed.
The reason? Supply vehicles will have to cart supplies out to those deployments. Then the troops will have to rotate home on leave, and then back out to the assigned locale.
All of which increases Poland's oil consumption.

Also, mainstream (classical/statistical as well as quantum) thermodynamics does not understand that neguentropy (the Life principle) also exists. As matter is driven to ultimate entropy, it "densifies", or forgets itself. Meanwhile, spirit/consciousness enriches itself in its neguentropic movement towards ultimate ordering/integration with the whole, transcending its origin out of of the limitations of the denseness and separateness of matter. That is the equilibrium he pretends to explain, NOT heat death, which is nothing more than death and stagnation.
Moreover, for all his pedant explanation of the specifics of entropy, he misses the fact that thermodynamics predicts the existence of neguentropy, through negative kelvin temperatures. This is not solely a secondary mathematical anomaly arising out of an imperfect equation, but reality. Negative temperatures have been observed in lab conditions to present neguentropic behaviour, that is, it harnesses ambient waste heat and concentrate it within itself, thus demonstrating spontaneous self-organizing complexity within a closed system (which materialist reductionists consider to be impossible).

I was driving past a rally a few weeks ago in West London. A fairly large group accompanied by police off the A40 waving polish flags and banners. We have a large polish community in London who usually keep a low profile so this surprised me and I wondered what it was all about.
Turns out that it was an anti-fascist march. Against those who who had taken power by force in Ukraine. If the feelings of expat poles is strong enough to gather so many people in London, I can imagine how that translates in Poland. So this call up may not be directed at the people this article asserts.
I have to confess I know nothing about Polish politics or its government's allegiances. We are continually seeing governments acting against the wishes of its citizens for the benefit of the banksters who seem intent on global conflagration, so this might be correct, but I just wanted to add my observations here.
I am not surprised by what you saw.
I do not follow the Polish politics well but started to read some Polish websites and have relatively good read on what is happenning.
- vast majority of comments on Internet seem to be directed against helping Ukraine. Polish people want to mind their own business.
- Poland is one of the most peaceful countries in the world now. They have ranking for it and Poland ranks very high on it.
- vast majority of elites, politicians, intellectuals are in favor of helping Ukraine. There is a disconnect within the Polish society.
- It is in the best interest of the Polish state to help Ukraine regardless of how painfull it is to forget about the pogroms of Polish civilians in the hands of Ukrainian fascist bands during WW2 (Bandera, UPA).
- it is much better to have a buffer between Poland and RuSSkies. Therefore Poland tries as hard as they can to protect Ukraine, bring them to EU and NATO as quickly as possible, and democratize them to create a stable society.
- There is zero interest in asking for the Western Ukraine lands to be returned to Poland. This would be historically justified but this is 21st century and it is time to make peace and not war.
- Putin and RuSSia are fucked. Ukraine and Poland can cutoff most of the gas/oil transit. The South Stream is dead and the North Stream with around 60 Bm3 capacity can stay the way it is - RuSSians will find out how well Germans can negotiate when RuSSkies have a knife on their throat. It will be fun to watch: pass the coke and popcorn.
- Putin wants to invade Ukraine and make a land bridge to Odessa and Moldavia. He is total lunatic like Hitler, he is out o control now and the times are getting much more dangerous than most people realize.
