Poland Is Quietly Mobilizing Its Army Reservists

Tyler Durden's picture

It seems the words of Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warning that “the world stands on the brink of conflict, the consequences of which are not foreseen... Not everyone in Europe is aware of this situation," are a little more real than some (US equity buyers) might suspect. As The Week's Crispin Black reports, at least 7,000 Polish workers in Europe have received call-up papers as army reservists in the last few weeks. Polish authorities dismiss it as "routine" but the men note this has never happened before.

As The Week's Crispin Black goes on to note,

At least 7,000 reservists have been recalled to the colours for immediate exercises lasting between 10 and 30 days.

They’re told by the Polish authorities that the call-ups are “routine”: but the men say they haven’t been asked before and they’re well aware of the growing alarm in Warsaw at President Putin’s aggression.

Three weeks ago, their Prime Minister, Donald Tusk, called a press conference to warn that “the world stands on the brink of conflict, the consequences of which are not foreseen… Not everyone in Europe is aware of this situation.”

My own view is that Putin was initially more concerned with righting a specific historical wrong in Crimea than starting a new Cold War.  This is still probably the case despite the dawning truth that the EU/Nato Emperor really has no clothes at all.

But in the worst case scenario of a truly revanchist Russia, Poland certainly has the borders from hell.  Starting from the top, it abuts Kaliningrad (the Russian exclave on the Baltic carved at the end of the war from East Prussia), Lithuania, Belarus and Ukraine.

None of these borders relies on any natural barriers like rivers or mountain ranges – they are just lines on a map drawn by Stalin in the full flush of victory.  No wonder the Poles are feeling vulnerable.

Kalinigrad = formerly known as Konigsberg

Poland has much in common with other Slavic lands, main difference being hundreds of years of closer relations with the West, more specifically, Italy, Spain and Germany, and... Catholicism.

Poland = largely Catholic

Russia and other Slavic lands = largely Orthodox

Just because the only associated people who seem to care about another region in the world (in the CONUS) are Negroes (you know, 'African-hyphenetaed-Americans'), this does not mean that the people within this 50-state area do not have freinds, family, ties, and an interest in all the regions of the globe.

'Give us your poor, your tired, your huddled masses'... something like that, over at Ellis Island...

My Mick friend, my Wop friend, my Kraut friend, my Polack friend, and I were just discussing issues. Our Muslim Bosnian friend was discussing his career as a policeman (before the war, and his subsequent evacuation of his family to this nation). Still haven't decided what to call him. Is he 'Bosco'? I'll bring the subject up tomorrow and discuss it with my Egyptian co-worker.

Just because I don't like Haggis, that doesn't mean I am not following the Scottish call for independence over here. I have blonde hair and blue eyes, and one of my old Kraut friends a long time ago (we used to call him 'Karl the Kraut' to his face) thought I might be German. Helluva nice guy, and a great Porche mechanic...

I met a man, my next-door neighbor at a house I rented, back in the 1980's. He was from Hungary, and was a 'freedom fighter' against the Communists, before he managed to get himself and his sweet wife the hell out (and over here). He was quite proud of his citizenship, and made me proud to be natural-born as well.

In reply, you-all are talking some shit about why people in the CONUS would care what happens, and trying to speak of 'government entanglements' and such esoteric crap... and all you seem to be focused on is the JOOZE who run YOUR nations as well as mine.

I caught this story over on WRH this morning, and read it while wondering WTF was going on. it took the munificent posters over at ZH a few hours after I first read it to post it. It was posted there on 24 Mar 06:19. Don't know if this is Hawaii time or GMT (UDT).

The Poles have a absolute right to mobilize their own reservists for the defensive purpose of protecting the borders of the sovereign State of Poland.  If Polish troops, however, cross into Ukraine, in an attempt to provoke an open NATO-Russia conflict, then the Polish people will fully deserve at least another 6 million dead as collective punishment for the irresponsibility of their war-mongering US-stooge government.

The wisdom of issuing a call up when the Neo-Nazi regime in Kiev (that they openly support) is joking about genocide is another matter, but I'm sure there a good Polack joke for that...

Other then that I don't think the US should be involved in most wars. Unfortunately, it is the elite that continue to create them and it is the populace that pays. The populace lets it happen though. Right now the US populace is letting the US government do whatever and we'll pay for it in one way or another.

I was wondering, while we're re opening old wounds, if the german speaking peoples would like north prussia and especially Koenigsburg back.  I'm sure most zerohedgers don't know the history of this region.

like most regions in Europe this one houses a deep reservoir of bad feeling going back through World War II and earlier.  when you sprinkle in to that mix energy flows and energy policy and especially when you add the certifiable sociopaths who have always controlled politics you have a recipe for human suffering on an  absolutely epic scale.

it should be obvious by now that politics IS the problem; that most people just simply want to live, but the madmen, murderers and uber greedy who never have enough of looting and killing and seem to view the world as a stage upon which they fulfill their destinies; these are the people we must be rid of somehow.

it's easy to see why libertarians consider the act of running for office to be a disqualification for office.

You're somewhat right.

Russia doesn't have to come for them.  Russia would be delighted to see these reservists called up and their units deployed.

The reason?  Supply vehicles will have to cart supplies out to those deployments.  Then the troops will have to rotate home on leave, and then back out to the assigned locale.

All of which increases Poland's oil consumption.

The Warsaw Uprising (Polish: powstanie warszawskie) was a major World War II operation by the Polish resistance Home Army (Polish: Armia Krajowa) to liberate Warsaw from Nazi Germany. The rebellion was timed to coincide with the Soviet Union's Red Army approaching the eastern suburbs of the city and the retreat of German forces.[9] However, the Soviet advance stopped short, enabling the Germans to regroup and demolish the city while defeating the Polish resistance, which fought for 63 days with little outside support. The Uprising was the largest single military effort taken by any European resistance movement of World War II.[10]

Technically, the true enemy of the world is the entropic principle, as embodied in one of the two universal polarities, that is, service-to-self. The small self, aiming to serve the illusion of its ego, tries to divide itself against the whole, which is rightly all-encompassing. Hence, shying away from the All whose center is Everywhere, the STS polarity forces itself to diverge into self-negation, away from Everywhere and into nowhere. Finally, to sustain its own illusion, this incarnation of the entropic principle then seeks to bring the rest of the universe with it into annihilation, that it might finally rest into non-being.

Well, at least, from the practical point of view, "Rothschild Central Zionist Banking" is a lot less of a mouthful...

Mon, 03/24/2014 - 20:33 | 4588128 Think for yourself
Think for yourself's picture

Not so slow-moving... Of course, entropy is slow as we "scientifically" think of it - in thermodynamic terms, applying to stupid matter supposedly heading towards heat death of the universe over aeons.

But entropy, which we could just as well call Death, is a movement that applies on all scales, opposing the neguentropic principle which we could just as well call Life. And through the agency of conscious beings, investing their intention and attention into self-serving Self-negation, you'd be surprised how fast it can move...

After all, look at the world all around you. People can't hold it together anymore, bite each others' faces off in the streets. Masses flock and rejoice around poisoned wells, from spiritual leaders to music. Nothing is getting done so great is the corruption weighing us down. Reality collapses under our feet, with the earth as our witness - sinkholes showing the failure of our foundations, now as common as an everyday weather report, massive meteors over all of the world's main cities while our eyes are locked onto digital screens. The very fabric of life unravels around us, 50 000 birds falling out of the sky or 500 plagued dolphins or 50 beached whales at a time.

Slow-moving train wreck?  Don't hold your breath - you won't need to.

Study the Laws of Thermodynamics (the Second Law is of particular interest), and the 'Entropy Effect', regarding the inevitable shift that takes place towards universal equilibrium. Eventually, all heat will disperse, and a cool-down will happen. It IS happening. The temperature at this point in the inevitable process will be 'absolute zero' (minus epsilon). Energy and matter, without outside influence, naturally shares its' gut-matter, and as energy gives to matter, and matter decays to produce energy, they both have no loss of existence (althout they both transform each other in to useless, non-life-supporting matrices).

It's like a nuclear reaction in the atmosphere, you know. The heat energy created by the obliteration of radioactive matter in a chemical reaction of the destruction of other matter (to release latent 'momentary heat energy') causes the destruction of the radioactive matter; and the heat disperses; absorbed by other matter (or spread out in to the space around the Earth, seeking a place to bond to, but too diluted by the expanse to effect the local space weather). In the meantime, everything on the Earth within range is poisoned, and dies.

THAT is a good way to concieve the concept of 'entropy'. Everything is in balance, and no loss occurrs (although, from the perspective of a fried human or animal or plant or that which was formerly sand but has been transformed in to glass,), this would not seem to be the case.

In order to be able to 'THINK FOR YOURSELF', you have to have some background in what you state (or, at least, be able to ask others, listen and absorb knowledge, discount fallacies, and formulate hypotheses), or actually THINK things through. MOST do not understand the concept of 'ENTROPY', which, in effect, equates to a strange form of 'EQUILIBRIUM'.

He is not stupid. The Monetary Systemic Breakdown is just one of many outwardly manifestations of the entropic principle in affect.

Collapse is systemic and Universal, not just applying to a myopic vision of the present, or subjective to the Monetary System.

Perhaps you do not understand his analysis. That is okay.

But it does not make his analysis "stupid" by any means.

Indeed. I'm a physicist, and understand thermodynamics. That I grasp these dynamics allows me to properly see the contexts it applies to, which are not necessarily limited to the blinders of materialist reductionism, which is the mainstream interpretation of science.

Also, mainstream (classical/statistical as well as quantum) thermodynamics does not understand that neguentropy (the Life principle) also exists. As matter is driven to ultimate entropy, it "densifies", or forgets itself. Meanwhile, spirit/consciousness enriches itself in its neguentropic movement towards ultimate ordering/integration with the whole, transcending its origin out of of the limitations of the denseness and separateness of matter. That is the equilibrium he pretends to explain, NOT heat death, which is nothing more than death and stagnation.

Moreover, for all his pedant explanation of the specifics of entropy, he misses the fact that thermodynamics predicts the existence of neguentropy, through negative kelvin temperatures. This is not solely a secondary mathematical anomaly arising out of an imperfect equation, but reality. Negative temperatures have been observed in lab conditions to present neguentropic behaviour, that is, it harnesses ambient waste heat and concentrate it within itself, thus demonstrating spontaneous self-organizing complexity within a closed system (which materialist reductionists consider to be impossible).

Montgomery Scott...

Entropy is written within the Black Body Radiation function.

The rate of Entropic progression is an exponential function.

For the layman I will state that Ernest Hemingway described that he went bankrupt slowly at first then all of the sudden.

In any adiabatic system Exponential Growth leads to an Exponential Collapse. The inflation of the Early Universe was Exponential. Then Gravity overcame the Expansion. It has been in a state of Exponential Collapse henceforth. The Black Body Curve is the quantum holographic signature of the Singularity within all Energy.

(Look at the curve and rotate the function along the Wavelength axis. Consider that the wavelength axis be replaced by a time axis and you have an excellent model of the history of the Universe.)

Food for thought...

Really. How do explosions happen? Obviously Gravity was strong enough to cause the coalescence of the early protostars, thus the protogalaxies, then the protostructure, the framework of the observable Universe. Otherwise we would not be here.

The concept of "sameness" or "oneness" leads to all manner of oppression, coercion and barbarity.

If we are all the same than there can exist, and necessarily is- one god, one law, one state, one objective truth.  One definitive, ideal way of being.

We aren't the same.  If every person were to follow to the end the natural, creator impulse to self individuate and put aside the fear/control of culture/religion we would discover just how unique each of us is, what we are capable of together, and the many commonalities and responsibilities we share.

The Orlov guy point ed out not too long ago that the USSR and USSA are or were empires that failed.  I predicted that when the Kenyan was installed that it was the silent dog whistle that the Amerikan empire was over.

I predicted that the USSA would eventually break up too.  Old people, by then Baby Boomers, will be broke because Social Security will be cut to nothing or through hyperinflation.  But those old fuxx can keep telling us about Woodstock.

Anyway, if Putin is smart, he will avoid going back to the USSR empire building BS.  Keep building really good weapons systems, not that USSA dual citizen shit made with H1-B Indian spaghetti programmers.   The Russian stuff is really top notch now not that dual citizen MIC shit like the F-35.

I was driving past a rally a few weeks ago in West London.  A fairly large group accompanied by police off the A40 waving polish flags and banners. We have a large polish community in London who usually keep a low profile so this surprised me and I wondered what it was all about.

Turns out that it was an anti-fascist march. Against those who who had taken power by force in Ukraine.  If the feelings of expat poles is strong enough to gather so many people in London,  I can imagine how that translates in Poland.  So this call up may not be directed at the people this article asserts.

I have to confess I know nothing about Polish politics or its government's allegiances.  We are continually seeing governments acting against the wishes of its citizens for the benefit of the banksters who seem intent on global conflagration, so this might be correct, but I just wanted to add my observations here.

Mon, 03/24/2014 - 21:02 | 4588097 FinalCollapse
FinalCollapse's picture

I am not surprised by what you saw.

I do not follow the Polish politics well but started to read some Polish websites and have relatively good read on what is happenning.

- vast majority of comments on Internet seem to be directed against helping Ukraine. Polish people want to mind their own business.

- Poland is one of the most peaceful countries in the world now. They have ranking for it and Poland ranks very high on it.

- vast majority of elites, politicians, intellectuals are in favor of helping Ukraine. There is a disconnect within the Polish society.

- It is in the best interest of the Polish state to help Ukraine regardless of how painfull it is to forget about the pogroms of Polish civilians in the hands of Ukrainian fascist bands during WW2 (Bandera, UPA).

- it is much better to have a buffer between Poland and RuSSkies. Therefore Poland tries as hard as they can to protect Ukraine, bring them to EU and NATO as quickly as possible, and democratize them to create a stable society.

- There is zero interest in asking for the Western Ukraine lands to be returned to Poland. This would be historically justified but this is 21st century and it is time to make peace and not war.

- Putin and RuSSia are fucked. Ukraine and Poland can cutoff most of the gas/oil transit. The South Stream is dead and the North Stream with around 60 Bm3 capacity can stay the way it is - RuSSians will find out how well Germans can negotiate when RuSSkies have a knife on their throat. It will be fun to watch: pass the coke and popcorn.

- Putin wants to invade Ukraine and make a land bridge to Odessa and Moldavia. He is total lunatic like Hitler, he is out o control now and the times are getting much more dangerous than most people realize.

- Once Poland is threatened they will attack RuSSkies. I think they have pretty good historical track of defending themselves against bigger bullies. This is not France, this is Poland. Kaliningrad will be first.

I shit you not.  They believe it.

The only thing that will keep this from escalating to "an event", which triggers conventional then (the one that's never been tried out before) is with a mass visit to Washington that is double President Remus' inauguration with a "sleeping bag" -if you catch my drift.

Truth is this Country is too chicken shit for another "Bonus March" and the best part of that statement is that 90% of this Country doesn't even know about that piece of their own history.  There's a time to be politically correct with friends, family professional colleagues and "yes" strangers.  And a time to just be matter of fact "correct"...

Now you know why I seriously wanted to sue the lying fuckers in the newsroom. I pay my licence fee to these mongs to be lied to, 24/7!

I used to trust the news from the BBC too, especially when they did in-depth investigations. Sometime in the late 90's and 00's, there was a massive campaign by the pro-Israel camp against what they saw as 'antisemitism' by the BBC when they exposed what was happening to the Palestinians in the occupied territories.  There was a serious,  concerted effort to stop the reports. Apparently they succeeded because now there are absolutely no reports whatsoever from Israel that might be negative.  If there's breaking news about them, then the BBC becomes a blackhole of silence. Its vigorously pro-US and Israel stance  has become their hallmark,  and the lies coming from its broadcasts are, quite frankly,  farcical. They even lie about stupid facts that can be checked on the net within minutes. I can only conclude that the BBC management and editorial staff have been taken over by zionists - just as they said they would a decade ago.

Absolutely....the refusal to air a Gaza Aid Appeal in 08-09 when the Israelis were bombing & murdering was the culmination of that Zionist takeover of the BBC.

"TRANSIENT!", screamed Goldman sachs as the economy re-refalls, the national debt grows, the money supply explodes, Obama raises taxes in a depression, and WW3 starts.

And did anyone catch that USD action today?  Holy crap did it get hammered.  It went down and stayed down.

We haven't had a good, profitable war for some time now. The profiteering corporo-banks and their polical hawk stooges have no need for Viagra these days as the sheep are falling into line giving them perpetual hard-ons. God Damn, I hate those bastards.

How can hate be used as a force for improvement? I wish I knew; I could improve a lot of stuff.

Until last few years all men were drafted for training and reserve duty in Poland. It's not like USA where you have to apply to go shooting rag heads. Theye were not asking for it, they forced into it. So, why the insult?

BTW in worst case scenario where NATO actually wants this war and pushes into it - Polish troops will likely only hold the line, considering how weak this army is compared to Russia. Poland might have conquered Moscow before, but now it wouldn't even defend successfully. It's going to be again NYC and Liverpool boyz that will storm Moscow as they did Baghdad.
