Russia Prepares Mega-Deal With India After Locking Up China With "Holy Grail" Gas Deal

Tyler Durden's picture

Last week we reported that while the West was busy alienating Russia in every diplomatic way possible, without of course exposing its crushing overreliance on Russian energy exports to keep European industries alive, Russia was just as busy cementing its ties with China, in this case courtesy of Europe's most important company, Gazprom, which is preparing to announce the completion of a "holy grail" natural gas supply deal to Beijing. We also noted the following: "And as if pushing Russia into the warm embrace of the world's most populous nation was not enough, there is also the second most populated country in the world, India." Today we learn just how prescient this particular comment also was, when Reuters reported that Rosneft, the world's top listed oil producer by output, may join forces with Indian state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp to supply oil to India over the long term, the Russian state-controlled company said on Tuesday.

Rosneft CEO Igor Sechin, an ally of President Vladimir Putin, travelled to India on Sunday, part of a wider Asian trip to shore up ties with eastern allies at a time when Moscow is being shunned by the West over its annexation of Crimea.

With EU nations threatening to cut their reliance on Russian oil and gas, Russian officials have started to look East.

Rosneft said it had also agreed with ONGC they may join forces in Rosneft's yet-to-be built liquefied natural gas plant in the far east of Russia to the benefit of Indian consumers.

We just have one question: will payment for crude and LNG be made in Rubles or Rupees? Or in gold. Because it certainly won't be in dollars.

Rosneft, which is increasing oil flows to Asia to diversify away from Europe, did not provide any additional details but said it had discussed potential cooperation with Reliance Industries and Indian Oil.

It did not have to: it is quite clear what is going on. While the US is bumbling every possible foreign policy move in Ukraine (and how could it not with John Kerry at the helm), and certainly in the middle east, where it is alienating Israel and Saudi just to get closer to Iran, Russia is aggressively cementing the next, biggest (certainly in terms of population and natural resources), and most important New Normal geopolitical Eurasian axis: China - Russia - India.

More:

The company said Sechin and the head of Indian conglomerate Reliance Industries also met and discussed potential cooperation in developing Russia's offshore resources, viewed by Moscow as a source of future oil production growth.

India was the last country in Sechin's Asian trip, where he also visited Japan, South Korea and Vietnam.

Russia is the world's top oil producer, pumping over 10 million barrels per day but mostly from west Siberian deposits, which are running out. Moscow is betting on offshore and unconventional oil to maintain the level.

At the same time, Russia is trying to diversify its energy flows away from its core European markets, with Rosneft leading the race with plans to triple oil flows to China to over 1 million barrels per day in coming years.

Rosneft said Sechin also discussed potential shipments of Russia's East Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) oil blend to India's biggest refiner Indian Oil Corporation (IOC.NS) but did not provide details.

There is only one country missing - Germany. Because while diplomatically Germany is ideologically as close to the US as can be, its economy is far more reliant on China and Russia, something the two nations realize all too well.  The second the German industrialists make it clear they are shifting their allegiance to the Eurasian Axis and away from the Group of 6 (ex Germany) most insolvent countries in the world, that will be the moment the days of the current reserve petrocurrency will be numbered.

ZH seems to be mathematically challenged... Germany's biggest trading partners are in Europe, France being its biggest. The analysis is partly right, but it's not just Germany that is shifting to the East, it's the entire EU. Again, Russia can't survive economically without Europe, and Europe will still need Russia's Gas in the forseable future.

Once all the political posturing over Ukraine ends (see how Europe has been much more measured in its threats than the US...), what's going to happen is a grand bargain between Russia, the EU, China, maybe India, and Brazil to redefine the world order in which the US will see its already diminishing inluence being reduced further more, with the final goal of indeed ending the US dollar as the world's reserve currency. This geopolitical shifts have been happening for a long time and nothing is new here. The new "multipolar world" has been theorized in Europe decades ago.

Thinking that Russia would give up Europe's market for India is laughable, to say the least.

These are the old diplomatic ties that existed during the cold war between the Soviet Union and her neighbors. Putin is using the cover in the Ukraine to restart these ties minus the US and EU. This does not mean Russia will drop the EU, it does mean they are expanding into markets unimpeded by the majors. Major western oil and gas companies are now getting a serious competitor for the developing markets.

Leverage means not depending 100% on ANY SINGLE player.  So Russia dealing with India/China is not to replace their other trade partners, but to 'spread it around'.   Look at the US' crude oil imports.

They get it from AT LEAST 3 different primary sources, so that Canada doesn't have leverage, Saudi doesn't have leverage, Mexico and Venezuela...

Interesting analysis but it has one weakness:

You assume that Merkel and the German regime was following Germany's interests.

Merkel openly said several times: this German state's reason is the support of Israel.

Merkel just received the highest Israeli civilian medal (she built up the Jew Klitschko in their Zionist Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung).

I have another example, to make it more clear:

Is Obama's foreign policy in the interests of the USA? Was Bush's foreign policy in the interests of the USA? NO! It's AIPAC's foreign policy.

And they give a sh.t if they destroy the countries they control. These alien forces do not care about the nations they control. They only use them, exploit them. Using cattle and doing god's work!

Therefore a ZOG-Germany will NEVER turn away from USrael. Even if the German economy would be destroyed by Merkel's stupid and anti-German foreign policy.

And btw, it is rumored that Merkel is Jewish (Kamirczak).

FYI, LNG requires effort to create it.  Freezing and pressure.

Then after you have it, it starts to warm up (even if insulated) and turn back into gas.

In other words, LNG has losses enroute anywhere.

Frac gas is the most expensive leftover crumbs. Five years from now the nightmare cleanup from 100,000+++ depleted wells will be all to obvious. Most frac gas wells decline 30% per year and are not economic. They are only profitable to the initial promoters who are getting out. Its only deserving that the EU will end up w the most expensive and declining gas source in the world while China and India are ramping up industrial production. The US dollar as a reserve currency and our standard of living will be gone.

Yes.  It is the best news of the day.

Americans are losing Dollar Hegemony.

The Empire is collapsing. The neo-Dark Ages are on their way.

The entire Globe will be shocked.

America will go into a hyperinflationary inferno, deservedly so, as it loses World Reserve Currency status. The State will collapse.

Yes...Slowly at first then all of a sudden. There are none so deserving. After waging war on a World for the past 40 years, after murdering millions of children, after destroying many other people, they will reap that which they have sown.

What the control freaks do not understand is that more control yields more chaos as it is an expression of the fear of loss.

More freedom yields more order as it is the finest expression of love.

To gain one need to lose the illusion of control and give freedom. But the psychopaths never understand that. They worship the state, which is only a state of chaos, confusion, and fear.

God's justice will prevail as God is Love.

Drink this water America all the fresh water you want..  NO THANKS!

In Great Lakes States: America’s Growing Cancer Alley, we analyze the
information on the top 10 cancer-causing polluters in each Great Lakes state for
1995.  We contacted each polluter and asked them what they make, why they use these
chemicals, and what they are doing to clean them up.

We name the Cancer Dirty Dozen, the top cancer polluters in the Great Lakes
region, which are: British Petroleum of Lima, Ohio, Kodak of Rochester, New
York, G. E. Plastics of Mount Vernon, Indiana and Ottawa, Illinois, Pharmacia and
Upjohn C o. of Portage, Michigan, Flexible Foam Products, Elkhart, Indiana, General
Foam Corp, Bridgeview, Illinois, Foamex of Elkhart, Indiana, Tomkins Industry
of Three Rivers, Michigan, Ford Electronics of Connersville, Indiana, Stone
Container of Coxhocton, Ohio, and NO-SAG Foam of West Chicago, Illinois.

Indiana is most polluted state in the Great Lakes region and third in the
nation with 15.5 million pounds of cancer-causing pollution, or 2.6 pounds of
pollution per person. Followed by Ohio, Illinois, and Pennsylvania — all rank in
the top six nationally. Minnesota was the cleanest state in the Great Lakes
region with only 3.3 million pounds of cancer-causing pollution.

Texas leads the nation in total cancer-causing pollution with 27.6 million pounds in 1995.

Great Lakes states dump almost one-third of all cancer chemicals in the
county, according to a study by the Environmental Information Center last year.
There is mounting evidence that toxic pollution is causing cancer and other
heal the problems, especially in children.  New research on child-cancer
published in the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health shows a significant link between child cancer and cancer-causing chemical pollution from large industrial facilities, oil plants, steel plants, highways and airports.

It would mean a total upheaval of all life- curiously animals and plants tend to congrigate around water as well.  Even those close to the water would see their lives turned upside down by the new influx of thirsty neighbors.

Makes me think of these lines by Lou Reed (from the album New York the song is called Last Great American Whale)

Well, Americans don't care for much of anything
Land and water, the least
And animal life is low on the totem pole
With human life not worth more than infected yeast

Americans don't care too much for beauty
They'll shit in a river, dump battery acid in a stream
They'll watch dead rats wash up on the beach
Complain if they can't swim

They say things are done for the majority
Don't believe half of what you see and none of what you hear
It's like what my painter friend Donald said to me

Gold has functioned as money in Russia in the past just as it has in almost every country in the world.

In fact at one time platinum rubles circulated in Russia as well as gold and silver... not many countries have had platinum coinage.

"LOL here comes the #Boom"

Where in Russia, they prepare to do good business. In America, the business is preparing the country for yet another govt/mosad sponsored false flag event to use as the excuse to close down the country, suspend all common law, and implement the planned prepared for martial law, or the law of the gun. How a stupid nation of sheep can sit idly by on the train tracks watching the approaching speeding train headed right at them in such a stupor of ignorance, is just astonishing. it is a group suicide and ignorance is the weapon of the globalists that have long planned everything that is happening. When they start telegraphing what is coming, people better pray and prepare for the worst.

May God have mercy on us all for ignorantly allowing our own demise to rise up into the places of power and leadership. May God forgive us all for being so collectively stupid in letting this beast kill and murder day after day, while doing nothing at all to stop it. The US military is about run down, the foreign troops are in place and soon, that false flag event will trigger the final fall into the chaos they want so badly. Enjoy every breath of freedom while you can. For most life on the plant, life is short. The tombstone for earth reads: Here lies a formerly advanced civilization. It is extinct now due to it's own ignorance of the evil that blatantly killed them all, even those that helped it all happen.

One other big issue is to get Turkmen gas to India via Afghan/pakistan knowing that the US controls Turkmen and Afghan/pak political scene. (All those CIA bases).

So for this axis to work it will have to replace US influence in the Central Asian region STRETCHING FROM THE CASPIAN TO CHINA (SILK ROUTE) AND THRU KHYBER TO PAKISTAN AND INDIA. (OBVIOUSLY WITH THE COOPERATION OF IRAN).

When I watched the analitical video below, having an overdeveloped imagination, a hypothetical thought struck me: has the collapse of the real economy not already happened?

What if stocks going up is nothing more than bankers buying up the only real assets left with fresh created money? Then the prophecy of a collapsing stockmarket would make no sense, because if the banks own all things of real value, why would they ever sell it to accumulate the fiat paper they can print as much as they want?

They could dump specific stocks to scare the last private investors wich are not members of their club out. Of course they would only sell to another representive of their own. Then they go on buying and selling to themselves forever, to uphold the illusion of a free market so people won't be alarmed? Would we ever know? Would this scenario be possible?

dunno, some conjecture that makes sense to me is that insolvency was reality in 2001.
Since then it's all been backdoor dealing and printing until finally a larger collapse visibly happened reflecting the cover-up failing for the actual insolvency and so on and so forth. It's all show now.

I think you're right about the prospect of banks owning everything of real value. However when you have too many big swinging dicks sitting at one table, sooner or later, they will have to go after each other. Its one big game for the masters of the universe, you think 2008 was a massive power grab wait for the next one. Less and less owning more and more. Price of stocks mean nothing when you own it all. Collapse the market consolidate again print more or NEW money. Really control everything, real estate, stocks, natural resources, and government.

If deflation of any magnitude occurs (or continues to occur) those who have no debt or little debt will benefit the most.

The Bitter Medicine of Asset Sell-Offs, Bank Deposit Seizures, Pension Reductions, and other Austerity Measures in Lieu of a Bail-Out just lost any credibility to its claimed effectiveness.

Team RUS just announced a "Bridge/Infrastructure" Jobs/Stimulus Plan that should help many Crimeans and symbolically shame Ms. Nuland's 5Billion USD Plan - while UKR's Economy is at risk of a collapse and Bond Rating continues its descent down the "Junk" ratings towards Default.

One may presume that Team RUS actually HAS Chess Geniuses onboard and/or are actually be playing the strategic equivalent of 3-Dimensonal Chess verses the USA/NATO's game of single-board Checkers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three-dimensional_chess

Considering that many Ukranians are working in RUS (w/o any Visa Restrictions as a response to Sanctions - another step along the High Road for TEAM RUS), it will be interesting to see how the rest of the RUS-leaning regions of south/eastern UKR will act as the Months progress.

Best wishes to the Crimeans.  May they prosper in relative Peace.

I agree with you.  A plane does not go missing above the world's biggest shipping choke point and the powers that be do not know what happened.

I expect a struggle happened on board.  The plane turned west.  The plane likely passed over the Maldives (as reported), ran out of fuel when it reached the African coast.  That would likely mean it crashed in northern Kenya or southern Somalia.  Who is going to look there?

The fact that the British and Australians are in on the disinformation plan mean something sinister happened and is being covered up.  The mis-direct down to the eternal flotsam floating off the coast of Australia was a smart move that would only work once.
