Every morning I wake up and check Drudge to see if New York, DC, Chicago and LA got nuked. Every morning is a disappointment.

DC, on the other hand -- you'd have a lot of talking heads trying to fan the flames, but yeah, flyover country isn't going to get as worked up about it as TPTB would hope.

The only people who would have a positive outcome from a nuke going off in NYC is the US government. 2nd and 3rd order effects from anyone else doing such a thing would far outweigh any possible or potentially perceived benefit (N Korea, China, Russia, etc).
