Martin Armstrong Warns This Is The Age Of Civil Unrest

Tyler Durden's picture

Submitted by Martin Armstrong via ArmstrongEconomics,

All governments had better open their eyes for we are on the brink of a major convergence between both the Cycle of Civil Unrest, Civil War & Revolution and International War. Both of these models converge and as I pointed out at the Cycles of War Conference, this is the first time we have seen this convergence since the 1700s.

This is no plain modern event with civil unrest erupting because of an interconnected world. These are grassroots uprisings cross-fertilized perhaps from a world contagion yet they often have similarities – corrupt governments. Turkey, Ukraine, Thailand, Venezuela and Bosnia-Herzegovina are all middle-income democracies with elected leaders besieged by people angry at misgovernment, corruption and economic sclerosis. These days it is no longer just dictators who have something to fear from the crowd. This is the promise of Marxism that centralized planning and false promises are coming home and governments are too corrupt and incompetent to deliver what they have claimed for decades.

Communism is dead. The socialistic agendas that have lined the pockets of government and filled the coffers of banks is over. The national debts are on average composed of 70% interest payments not programs to help the poor as marketed. The debts that keep growing with no intent upon paying anyone back are draining the national productivity and turning the people into economic slaves. The standard of living has declined and it now takes two incomes to survive where one use to be just fine. Women won the right to work and lost the right to stay home.

The promises that you save for the future have collapsed into dust as interest rates have been driven lower making savings utterly worthless. There is no such thing as saving and living off your fixed income. The elderly are being driven back into the work force and the whole ideas that a generation believed in are vanishing before their eyes.

So it is no longer communists and dictators that are the targets. All governments are now the targets and when the economy turns down after 2015.75, the threat of civilization will be pulled apart by the self-interest of politicians clinging to power to the detriment of the people.

I could not humanly agree more.

capitalism is dead, its only in america where the bankers keep their capitalist profits while unloading their losses onto the state. a system that works for the 1% is not communism and russia is not communism, its gangster capitalism. if communism is a workers paradise, and you have no workers what have you got? capitalsim defeated communism by automating workers out of existence. nice job, but they needed some central planning to help. lots of central planning.

civil unrest is a nonstarter. you want to change the system, get a majority a representatives to agree the federal reserve bank does NOT have the backing of the US treasury and american taxpayers. that will change the way things work.

We need to eliminate central control and exterminate the political correct bullshit that is destroying the fabric of our society.

You know what, discrimination is a fundamental human right. In fact it is what natural selection is based on. Political correctness has turned the citizens of the world into pansies, paralyzed and afraid to do anything because they might offend someone.

This is how evil hides. By making it socially unacceptable to call out people for thier faults, or their actions. There is no freedom of speech if ypu are not allowed to express all forms of speech, even discrimination.

In a free economy if there wasn't a business case for discrimination it would fail. If discrimination didn't work in nature, we wouldn't still find it everywhere. The reason why you end up with a Hitler is because the freedom to discriminate is removed and the emotions become bottled up. Eventually the people have enough and terrible things happen. The Golden Dawn party didn't rise in Greece because people were embracing racism, they were just fucking sick of Greece being destroyed by non Greeks. But Golden Dawn would most likely take the step to eliminate the non Greek population by forceful means.

Jere is a thought experiment. Imagine a restaurant opening in NYC that makes it a policy to only serve white people. How disgusting right? Racist, must be shut down. The outrage would be immense.

Now imagine a restaurant owned by a black man opening in NYC that will only serve blacks. Do you think there would be outrage? Most likely there would be praise for that man to have the bravery to give black people something they have always deserved.

You know what. I am fine with that. If there is a business case for the discrimination of white people, then he will be successful. But you have to let the white only restaurant stand. Because if there isn't a business case for it, it won't last.

You will never elimimate discrimination because it is a fundamental force of nature. Trying to eliminate it only ends in the fire of totalitarianism.

We have also established the idea that there is no such thing as EVIL.

Somehow our forefathers were just superstitious, and the idea of 'evil' was unnecessary, useless.

But in fact, we now know 2% of the population (or thereabouts) are sociopaths and psychopaths, and no sociopath has EVER been rehabilitated.  For me, that is as close to 'evil' as you can get.  Someone who is literally irredeemable, unreformable, and with no conscience.

But instead, if he is working for a Wall St bank, his crimes will result in a FINE, at most!

Pickleton's picture

We have also established the idea that there is no such thing as EVIL.

To achieve their EVIL goal of destorying the Republic, the left had to destroy God.  To destroy God they had to convince the mouth breathing masses that there's no EVIL. No EVIL, no need for God.  Much easier to corrupt the culture and allow Luke to be seduced by the dark side...

Armstrong is quack.  We can all read the news.  But his theories predicted confidence in government, not what he is saying now.  His cycle theories also predicted wars were at low ebb starting the week Russia took Crimea.  The guy is completely full of crap when it comes to trading.

El Vaquero's picture

I posted the4 following last night in another thread.  It is my first hand observations, right here in the good'ole US of A:

That protest was over Albuquerque Police Department's killing of James Boyd on March 16, and the general use of excessive force by APD.

That protest lasted for something like 15 hours, give or take.  I showed up to watch towards the last 4 or so hours.  As I was walking from my vehicle to the protest, I ran into a homeless man.  He didn't ask me for money.  He wanted a blanket.  I didn't have one, else I would have handed it to him.  All that I could offer was a cup of coffee, which he did accept.  It's fucking disgusting to see that kind of desperation.

After that, I waited near the Frontier restaurant for the protesters to march by again.  As it turns out, only half of them marched by after me waiting about 20 minutes.  The other half stayed near UNM, so I walked closer to them.  Just as I was getting close, I saw several SWAT teams pull up.  While I didn't count how many SWAT guys there were, I wouldn't be surprised if it was somewhere between 50 and 100, and most were riding in on Bearcats/APCs wearing their gas masks.  Many of them had cudgels, many had tear gas guns and several had M-4s.  I could hear the cops over the loudspeaker telling everybody to disperse, with occasional yelling from the crowd about tyranny.

Eventually, sure enough, the tear gas came out, and people started running.  I was far enough away that I didn't get hit with it.  A news photographer did though.  He was behind me when the cops started leaving to confront the other group of protesters who had gone down to the police station.  I heard him shout something as one of the Bearcats rolled by with cops hanging from the sides, and saw a rather funny look on the cops' faces.  I think he yelled "putos" or something of the sort, but I didn't catch it.  The funny look was because he was flipping them the bird.  He basically said something like "I'm a journalist that they tear gassed, I can get away with it.  Fuck'em." Those weren't his words, but that was the gist of what he said, and he did use profanity.

After that, I was trying to figure out where the other group was, and was paying attention to where all of the cop cars were going.  It was only marginally helpful, as Yackety Sax should have been playing.  Cop cars hauling ass one direction, then hauling ass in the opposite direction.  I then went back to my vehicle, got in and was lucky enough to see a KRQE vehicle hauling ass, so I followed.  They have had the best coverage, so I figured that they were heading to where the shit was the thickest.  I was right, and that led me to the police station.

As I was looking for a parking spot, I drove by the SWAT staging area with all of the big toys that those guys drive.  It's one of those things where you think things like "overkill" and "police state."  I found a parking spot in a residential neighborhood about 2 1/2 blocks from the protest, which was nice because I didn't have to worry about that street being blocked off if I needed to leave in a hurry.  Once I got to the area, I got to get a sense of the crowd.  There was a bona fide old hippie there that I chatted with who thought that the protesters were going about it wrong, and there was another guy there who has to keep track of the things that agencies like APD do as part of his job.  We all agreed that being in the middle of that shit was not wise.

It seemed that all walks of life were there, but the two groups who were making the most noise were the hoodrats and people that I can best describe as neo-hippies.  You know the type.  Young with dreads and drums.  I fucking hate it when those drums show up to protests.  But whatever.  After a while, the SWAT guys came marching in in formation.  It was the same gig as what had happened by UNM, it was obvious what was going to happen next.

I should point out, that by this point, I had witnessed four different police agencies there.  APD, BCSO, State Police and Rio Rancho PD.  While I only saw Rio Rancho guys driving around, the state troopers were there with APD and BCSO, but they weren't wearing gas masks.  And they were down wind of where the tear gas was obviously going to be deployed.  I should also point out that I saw a fuckton of cops carrying M4s, many of which were NFA firearms on the basis of being SBRs.  Again, police state.

Before this second crowd got tear gassed, somebody told me that earlier that one of the protesters was out there with an AK slung over his shoulder.  That's perfectly legal in NM.  But foolish, because unless you have at least a roughly equal number of armed people to cops, all you do is draw attention to yourself.  (Yes, I was packing, but it was concealed, as were the extra mags.  I wasn't there for trouble, I was there to observe.)

At this point, there was a line of cops, and a line of protesters facing each other.  I didn't hear what the protesters said, but the response by the guy standing next to me was "Did they just challenge the cops to a game of Red Rover?"  Then another guy came up and said "They just gave the ultimatum," and the next thing I knew, tear gas canisters were flying.  People were running everywhere, but I just stayed where I was, because, you know, the wind was blowing away from me, and I had observed the police reaction the previous time.  And yes, the state police without gas masks did get gassed.  You gotta love APD ;)  I asked one of them for confirmation on this, and he said that yes, some of them did wind up in the tear gas cloud.

The crowd then dispersed, and I went looking for where they were going to start up again.  That happened to be 4th and Central, but by the time I got there, it was losing steam, so I hung around for 15 or so minutes and left.  On my way home, I was passed by an APD officer who was probably doing 20 over the speed limit.  Then, I saw him hauling ass the other direction.  I wonder if something else flared back up?

It's fucked up though.  It was a protest over excessive use of force by police, and how do they respond?  With overkill.  It vindicates the protesters when they do that shit, and it also fuels them.  Yes, there were a few protesters who tagged a police station and carried out a few minor acts of vandalism.  They could be dealt with as individuals.  Showing up with maybe the mounted patrol and a few normal cops would have ensured that this thing ran out of fuel hours earlier.

It was surreal though.  When I was trying to figure out where shit was happening when I was pulling up, traffic was backed up on Central, and half of that traffic was cop cars with their lights on.  I have never seen so many cops in one place in NM in my entire life.  This outdoes anything in my experience by a long shot.  Getting to watch the storm trooper march with my own eyes was not exactly an eye opener because I've been aware of the police state for a while, but it was one of those "Yup, it can happen here" things.

While a lot of the protesters were retards, and the issue of James Boyd may be forgotten soon, I don't see APD getting better or nicer, except for possibly a slight and temporary "Oh shit!  The sheep are mad!  Maybe we had better behave ourselves for a while," the broader issue of police state tactics and abusive behavior is not going to go away.  This shit will come to a head.

the grateful unemployed's picture

vaguely akin to Sugarland Express. if you could go through all those cops, and ask each one, have they done a tour in Iraq or Afghanistan, you might (not) be surprised, this is the place where i worry, because these men and women have already been dehumanized to one degree or another.

Nehweh Gahnin's picture

Great report Cowboy.  Sounds like it would have been fun to watch.  Or to participate in, though I'm not the demonstration person, as I think it usually just serves to highlight the slavery of the protesters, and to legitimize and enable the bad guys.  I do love the irony, though, of the police responding to a police-brutality demonstration with police brutality.  Kafka would be proud.

El Vaquero's picture

This doesn't even come close to showing the number of SWAT cops out there.  It does, however, show the equipment that they were bringing out against protesters:

The poverty now is nothing compared to the Great Depression.  Read Steinbeck.

The police abuse/brutality now is nothing compared to the 60s.  See YouTube.

There seems to be a particular breed of person whose worldview is so myopic and ahistorical that they believe that their own particular time and predicament are the worst that the world has ever seen.

These people are often reflexive contrarians, and they lose their ass in the stock market regularly.

The world is not going to end.  In fact, it's getting better, not worse.  This despite the doomsayers who hate themselves and get off on trying to make everyone else afraid.  It's like the revenge-fantasy wet-dream of John of Patmos, all over again, every day.

Of course there is unrest when more than 50% of the people contribute nothing to their nation except more debt...

How are they supposed to contribute when their entire economy has been outsourced, education spending eviscerated by redneck conservatives, and when 33% of Americans believe the world is only 6000 years old?

The cause of poverty is superstition and ignorance, and global capitalism which treats human beings like a commodity to be gotten for the lowest global price, even if it means you have to live on a pile of garbage.

This is the age of "Chaos". There are 4 ages or yugas.

Golden Age, Age of Reason, Age of Giants, Age of Chaos ... rinse and repeat

Golden Age, Silver Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age

These ages have been recounted and foretold through many historial writings. We are lucky enough to live in interesting times and those who are able to adapt will survive.

Civil unrest is only a consequence of the Age.

This poor vs rich thing is what gets us in this situation. People like you allow the government to take the power that is has by claiming to "fight the man"... the government is of, for and by the man.

Politicians tell you that they are going to fight billionaires, then they tax and regulate to death the gas station or dry cleaner down the street. Like when Obama fights billionaires, then you find out that 80% of them supported him.

Our democracy, should (statistically) favor the middle class, but the left has formed a coalition of the poor and the super wealthy.  The wealthy have the power ($$) and the poor have the votes.

We have been fighting the “war on poverty” for 5+ decades and poverty rates have increased. The natural state of humanity is poverty. Most people throughout most of history have been poor. Most people produce enough to survive; very few of us produce more. Those of us who produce more will stop if our excess productivity is confiscated.

No law can overcome natural law, trying only allows the government to take more productivity away from society.

WTF is up with PM prices???

seek's picture

TPTB don't want you to get any ideas about leaving the system...

and/or they're trying to save a bank with too many shorts..

and/or there's a side deal to give gold to china at a discount for not dumping USTs...

PM prices will be fucked until the system implodes, get used to it. It's an opportunity for some, and a frustrating delay for others.

stopthejunk1's picture

If you are investing in PM with a hope of making a return, you clearly don't understand what's going on in the world.

Despite the ranting of the preppers, the world order (read: capitalist petrodollar) is under no threat whatsoever.

The people that know what's going on in the world were buying PM in 1995 when gold was $300/oz and the rest of you were piling into shares of, or whatever the latest financial fad is.

Martin Armstrong Warns This Is The Age Of Civil Unrest

Um. dude, EVERY age has to deal with this "threat".

The fact than many in the media, left and right, refute that this will ever happen in America is pretty LOL actually.

The thing is, last time the nation had a serious tone of civil unrest (the late 60's), the oligarchs and their politician whores actually caved with gettning the troops out of Vietnam, Expanding SS and Medicare/Medicaid, and introduced Affirmative Action.

This time?  These motherfuckers don't give a fuck AND they are more powerful in the 1960s.

After that, it will go straight up, to Dow 40,000 within a decade.  Yes that's right: between 2017 and 2027, the value of the market will double in real terms.

Use your funds accordingly.

Why do people continue to talk about "communism" and "Marxism" when the economic model practiced the world over is capitalism?

The sickness of global capitalism is clearly the cause of our current ails. Or do you suppose that companies like BP and MF Global and Enron and Lehman Brothers can exist in a "Marxist" economy?

The writer is clearly a clueless adolescent.

Armed Resistance's picture

You are insane!  CAPITALISM?  As in free-market capitalism?  That's been dead and burried years ago and replaced with Cronyism, Corporatism, and Statism.  These are all perverse versions intended to give people like you the false idea that we are operating as capitalists, but it's really much closer to Statism or state-sponsored corporatism.

It's actually much worse than marxism in the sense that the pretense makes it "appear" as though we operate in a free market.  At least Marxists, as sick as they are, have the balls to step out and claim their way.  Crony bitches hide behind a farce and pull liberty down as a result.

Who is the clueless one here?

TK69's picture

Capitalism is not the same as free trade.  Capitalism is only a byproduct of inflation.  Without inflation, governments of today cannot exist.  They inflate to horde resourves and to export these resources to others, while protecting friends and allies of the well connected.  In other words the money supply is inflated so that a constand stream of inflated currency can be taxed and thus spent for political ambitions.  Government is nothing more than means to concentrate wealth for the super rich. In other worlds, billion dollar profits means billion dollar taxes whcih can fund things like government benefits.  No capitilism = no socialism as these things cannot be afforded.

Pickleton's picture

Your two posts just above had me telling myself you're a dolt and I gave you the thumbs accordingly.  With this one, I had to reach out and just let you know you're a blithering idiot.

At best we have a corporatist/fascist system - and it's trending fast towards out and out fascism and hard left socialism/light communism.

poorhardworker's picture

The chart may prove it...but my heart knows it!  I am sick of government intrusiion on my PERSONAL life and I hate the liberal/progressive/socialist democrats telling me that the Constitution is a "living" document!  The Constitution is a static thing that has been guiding our beloved country for 248 years to it's "former" position as the greatest place to be!!!  Now Obama has transformed us into a 3rd wor;d country...except we can still drink the water!  I am ready to rebel...any one else?

stopthejunk1's picture

The Founders envisioned a complete rewrite of the constitution about every 20 years, or once every generation.

They certainly intended it to be plastic.  Otherwise there would be no amendment process, and certainly no provision for a constitutional convention, wherein the whole document can be up-ended.

Of course, the Founders also intended for the Republic to prefer capital over people, which is why neither slaves nor women nor poor people could take part in politics until very recently.

So, the Founders be damned: they had their place in history, but the present is for us.  The Founders were wrong and ignorant about a great many things, even if they got a few things right.  Their preference for capital over people cannot survive the humanist future of planet Earth.  And you can be sure that humanity *will not survive* unless the current predatory economic mindset is replaced by something more humanist and just.  The 6.9999 billion slaves will simply not allow the status quo to continue.

TK69's picture

Bunch of Bunk.  The amendment process means that they did not intend it to be living and breathing, otherwise why not deferr to judges.  But judgest interpeting the law was fraudently set a long time ago awith a false supreem court ruling.  It was not intended, except for madison who knew that this would happen.

And only landoweners were allowed to vote because they had interest in the land.  They did not want people to be able to vote themselves a paycheck (wealth transfer).  This would destroy and enslave other people.

Humanisnm is only a way to enrich the super rich under the false guise of a common good which cannot exists.  Humanism means that rights come from the ego and preference of other men, which also means special interest deals and favors for elite few.  It is humanism that preferrs captilism over people by its very nature.  Humanism depend upon people getting goodies to fund profits and political power.  It is a great source of dispair and corruption.

The founders knew history and thus undrestood this reality.  You obvioulsy don't

freakscene's picture

I think you misrepresent the "Founders" in a very bad way. Suggesting they preferred Capital over People is simply egregious and not an accurate depiction of Why they did What they did at all.

Pickleton's picture

Jesus, you're even historically illiterate.  You smell like a hopey changey.

For instance, I'll give you just this one.  New Jersey gave women the right to vote in it's Constitution.  I'll let you kiss my bunghole if you can guess the year that document/state came into being... Bzzzt. 1776..
