President Obama Declares Obamacare Enrollment Victory - Live Feed

Tyler Durden's picture

According to The White House, 7,041,000 people have signed up for Obamacare (though it's unclear how many have paid as of yet and what the mix of enrolees actually is). While this will be proclaimed as mission accomplished and spun for all it's worth, wasn't Obamacare supposed to reduce the ranks of the 45 million uninsured in America? Still, it seems like a long way to go to meet CBO projections, as WaPo notes, "the CBO and Joint Congressional Committee on Taxation in February projected that 13 million previously uninsured people would gain coverage in 2014." We suspect the President will be over the moon and blame Republicans, Twitter, and YouTube for the number not being higher...

This shit isn't about actual numbers of paying enrollees, its about what this shit has been about since day one with these guys, getting AS MANY U.S. Citizens on the Federal government welfare system and entitlement systems.....PERIOD!

7 million more people, that regardless of what their personal politics are, will now be "invested" in the system continuing the handouts. payouts, and subsidies!!

Its like all those videos on youtube of Tea Party supporters at rallies, saying they want the Federal Government to get their hands off their SS checks or medicare, etc. Or the guy who said, he hates the Federal government, but when they asked him if he gets unemployement or disability, he snaps back, "what the fuck does that got to do with it, they aint no jobs, what the fuck do you want me to do, of course i get it!"

Its a socialist society now, no bones about it, stock market is rigged, FX is rigged, commodities are not priced from any market mechanisms, private jobs are guaranteed by government, and a growing number are just straight government now, half the society is on some type of welfare or entitlement program, police state is in full effect, but thank fucking god, Baseball season is back and the Voice is getting ready to kickoff!

Matrix shit now friends, we are living in the fucking Matrix now! Dont try to unplug or the guys in suits are right around the corner!

What a trickster! hehehe...Obama left out the 6 Million thrown off the insurance so that means 1 million net, less the 900K who didn'y pay so all this bullshit was for 100K people (maybe)

NotApplicable's picture

You mean all of this bullshit was an effort to spend a billion bucks (in the right places).

I'm starting to wonder if Obama is Loki or Coyote.

PrecipiceWatching's picture

And of course the fabled "46 million" that the Communists have continually used as their battle club, is as ALWAYS, an outright lie, made real by a LeftMedia who constantly repeats the fable until it becomes assumed Gospel.

SunRise's picture

7 Million enrollees does not mean they were previously uninsured and suddenly decided to get religion.

BandGap's picture

A very good question - is this 7 million people total or 7 million heads of households? Last time I checked there are over 310,000,000 'mericans.

If it's the former this is truly lame. All those democrats sacrificed at the alter of Obama for this? Too bad.

Did you ever wonder, maybe this is as good as it gets?

One year from now we will learn that of the 7,041,000 people who signed up for Obamacare, 7,000,000 of them were named Linda Green.

"...7,041,000 people have signed up for Obamacare..."

And how many have paid?

john39's picture

and how many of these sign ups were previously uninsured, as opposed to people who had their insurance get cancelled?

NoDebt's picture

And how may of the "sign-ups" were for Medicaid?  I'll bet half, minimum.

Probably more than half considering the 7MM number is an absolute lie from the get-go.

JeffB's picture

The guidelines seem very "generous" to me... of course it's not really Obama's money to be giving away.

People get government rebates on health insurance up to 400% of the Federal Poverty Level. They get additional reductions in cost sharing at 250% of the Federal Poverty Level. I think Medicaid kicks in at 138% of the Federal Poverty Level, and the CHIP program kicks in closer to the 400% level I believe.

The 2014 Federal Poverty Level

That would seem to be a reasonable guess, given that some estimated that 8.9 million new people might gain access to Medicaid because of the expansions of eligibility under Obamacare.

Pravda ? Shit; Goebbels would like to shake this guys hand. respect from one professional to another.

JeffB's picture

Much/most of the reason for the ridiculous number of "no-pays" is due to the ridiculous way the system is set up. I spoke with a health insurance broker a few days ago who was pulling her hair out about how the system was still running.

She had clients that she had helped sign up for policies, but who had never received any kind of confirmation that they were enrolled nor any kind of bill. She would call the insurance companies, but they had no record of having ever received the enrollment applications. She called everyone else she could get ahold of but no one had any record of anything. She was told it wasn't a problem, that they had probably passed it along to Medicaid or CHIP, the government run Children's Health Insurance Pool to see if they were eligible for government aid.

The broker said that it had already been weeks since it was originally submitted, however, and no one had any record of the applications, nor any way of determining if they were lost in the system somewhere, or just tooling along in one of the government computers somewhere waiting to be processed. That's obviously nerver wracking for the consumers, of course, especially after hearing the stories like the guy in Las Vegas stuck with $407,000 in bills despite having signed up months before his heart attack.

centerline's picture

I have heard the same thing from a neighbor who signed up.  Not sure at this point if he ever got any sort of confirmation.  I will have to ask him next time I see him.

It takes a long time for the messenger pigeon to fly out from Washington; patience, and look to the East at dawn.

zaphod's picture

"patience, and look to the East at dawn."

If this is a LoTR reference, then the people who show up from the East at dawn are warrirors who mow everything down in their path.

In this case the warriors coming from the east are from DC and the people they mow down are us peasents.

Very accurately describes this thing.

JeffB's picture

Yes, it's both sad and absurd at the same time. Why the people aren't asked to pay up front is beyond me, particularly since they can't be rejected for health reasons anyway. Many of them are literally begging for a bill. They want to pay but can't.

It's even more absurd that the information submitted is immediately lost to everyone involved. No one knows what happens to it, not the customer, not the agent or navigator who signed them up, not the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (not sure how they came up with an acronym of CMS for that agency) and certainly not the insurance companies, doctors or hospitals who are supposed to be providing the medical care allegedly contracted for.

What a mess.
