Senate Panel Votes To Ask Obama To Declassify Bush-Era "Torture Report"

Tyler Durden's picture

The bitter battle between a spied-upon Senate panel and the sanctioned spiers (CIA) over interrogation techniques and deleted files just escalated...

  • *SENATE PANEL VOTES 11-3 FOR DECLASSIFYING INTERROGATION REPORT
  • *FEINSTEIN SAYS CIA REPORT CHRONICLES 'STAIN' ON HISTORY
  • *FEINSTEIN SAYS CIA MADE 'SERIOUS MISTAKES' THAT HAUNT U.S.
  • *SENATE INTELLIGENCE VOTE ASKS OBAMA TO ISSUE REDACTED REPORT

Of course, some might see this as a distraction pre-elections (a baffle 'em with Bush-shit moment) but that would be a conspiracy 'theory'...

As AP reports,

The Senate intelligence committee has voted to release parts of a classified report that harshly criticizes CIA terror interrogations after 9/11.

The vote to declassify the 6,300-page review's summary was 11-3. The "torture report" argues CIA methods were often cruel and ineffective. The agency disputes the findings.

The two sides are embroiled in a bitter dispute.

Senators accuse the agency of spying on their investigation and deleting files. The CIA says Senate staffers illegally accessed information. The Justice Department is reviewing competing criminal referrals.

President Barack Obama supports releasing the report.

Spokesman Jay Carney says the president will instruct intelligence agencies to conduct declassification work quickly.

Remember - Spying And Torture are best friends...

Nevermind Benghazi too. As we're told, 'what does any of that matter, it's ancient old history!'

The RINOs, especially the ones pushing amnesty, are no better than the Dems. The Democrats are total shit. The USSA does not have real elections anyway.

The ones in blue who clearly state their fascist communist aims?

And the consequences will be none. Precedent / Policy has already been set that supports Criminal lying to the American People while arming, funding & training Al CIA duh terror organizations.

Criminals Bush, Cheaney, Rice lied the American into war & got away with it. Criminals, Obama, Hillaery & Rice are just continuing the exact Criminal "Policy" which "National Security" protects. A big LIE.

Lied into two wars ($6 trillion). Why'd America invade Afghanistan again? Oh yeah, to get one guy (who wasn't there). How many of the 19 hijackers were from Afghanistan?

If nothing else, least Obama didn't take the recent neo-con bait and go full on war with Russia.

What in the name of all the gods has gotten into the US? Where is the vaunted Liberty and Freedom for which the Founders risked their lives at the end of a rope to give you? Where is the Rule Of Law that the Constitution was crafted to bring? The results of the breakdown of the rule of law and the arbitrary imposition of state dictatorship are too awful to contemplate, and revolution is perhaps the most terrible possibility to countenance, but isn't this kind of tyranny the very reason the Declaration of Independence says:

"But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security"?

The American People should be Impeaching, Arrestimg, Triing, Convicting & Executing these Criminals en masse and in great numbers where by instituting new form of government at their first opportunity, before the burden of tyranny becomes so great that the mass of The People start to think that the unthinkable is the only way to regain their freedom and liberty.

It's not complicated, it's the money. Get a bunch of the money out of politics and things would drastically improve.

Yesterday sumpere court voted once again to make money = speech, gee wiz wonder who that benefits? A ruling that, unsurprisingly, was covered hardly at all in the us press.

gmrpeabody's picture

It would help if we could get the politics out of politics...

inky's picture

Maybe getting religion & bankers out of politics would be a good start.

I see 'libertarians' downvoting simple facts above, as usual.

downvoting on zh, yes we can change objective reality!

Just make sure Feinstein's votes, comments, briefings & other input/output related to NSA oversight (or lack thereof) on American Citizens is released in non-redacted form.

*Election year politics & the stench of a wildly unpopular lame duck president, yo.

Don't worry, it won't.

If the Autocue spokesman doesn't flip over and change his mind about it being a good idea, most of it will be redacted anyway.

Ah...the ol "Let's try to make our current closet homosexual, undocumented, teleprompter reading, civilian murdering , wannabe dictator, banker puppet president look better than the last borderline retard, fake Texan, civilian murdering, wannabe dictator, banker puppet president" tactic.

Well played

You need to go to the Lager for retraining in PC.

The proper terms are:

LBGT, virtual citizen, literate, tough-on-crime, unitary executive, economically responsive President

and

populist, trans-regional, tough-on-crime, unitary executive, and economically responsive President

Feinstein is a big skidmark stain on America..

McMolotov's picture

She's a hypocritical cunt, but if she causes problems within the system, I'm all for it. With any luck, internecine fighting amongst the various factions of our government will help bring down the national security state. Let the snakes eat each other.

Troll Magnet's picture

If she's causing problems, you HAVE TO suspect ulterior motives.  Maybe there's something in it for Israel.

Theta_Burn's picture

I was going to type she was herself a stain on this countrys history, but skidmark fits just as good..

As much as Bush deserves his share of perpetuating this shit-show, the current admin after almost 6 fucking yrs has nothing else to focus on?

*edit* seen what you did there.. "Bush-shit" theory

On second thought, at least nothing more of America can be completely ruined with this inquiry...

Bush captured the terrorists and threw them in Gitmo and tortured them for info.  Obama just drones the terrorists and their fellow villagers to death on their own soil which would seem to take the fun out of harming terrorists unless of course you get a live feed of the kill, see raid on bin laden.

Chupacabra-322's picture

It's the War Crime "Policy" which has transcended Criminal Administrations going back since its early reports back in 2002. A policy of Torture which many House / Senate Intelligence Comm. members where briefed on.

A Policy which is "Globally" Black Site accepted.

A report from the Open Society Foundations has released a report that more than 50 nations, including the US, extra-judicially transferred suspected terrorists overseas for secret integration and torture. “Composed of information provided by various human rights organizations, the 214-page OSF report currently stands as the most comprehensive record of 136 individuals exposed to various methods of torture, including water-boarding, prolonged sleep deprivation, cramped confinement and more, in countries like Syria, Egypt, Libya, Canada and the United Kingdom,” reports Nicolas Rochon for the International. The report accuses the countries of human-rights violations, sending prisoners to known for their inhuman treatment, and another investigation described the United States as “the chief architect” of the web. The report insists that techniques of torture are ineffective and even dangerous. – YaleGlobal

SheepDog-One's picture

OH hey Feinstein....can we have the reports that showed it was the CIA and Saudis who used the chemical weapons in Syria? Oh...no that stuff is off limits/doesn't matter?

gcjohns1971's picture

No.

I think we need a government Fact-finding mission.

We need to send Feinstein, Pelosi, Bohner, McCain, etc each to a separate scandal-area (Ukraine, Syria, Libya, to the Drug Cartels, etc) on fact-finding missions.

Make sure and send them with a healthy entourage of the usual K-street lobbyists, to provide their respective lobby's points of view (union, corporate, regional, racial, etc).

Announce the commitment of the US Government to facts and truth is such that they will be en locale until the truth is found.

Make sure to announce their precise arrival time and place to those they should question, like Al Qaeda, Al Assad, The Muslim Brotherhood, Putin.

Then barrage jam gps and aviation navigation nodes so they can't leave, and enjoy the show.
