Fact Or Fiction: Obama Declares "Mission Accomplished" On Affordable Care Act

Tyler Durden's picture

Fact or Fiction?

After a series of minor inconveniences like a website that wouldn’t work, millions of people losing their preferred coverage and many of the laws key components being postponed, the April 1st deadline for signing up for Obamacare has come and gone, and the President is in a celebratory mood.

Being wheeled in on a wheelchair to make a show of how so many more Americans now have access to healthcare, Obama declared an end to Major Signup Operations in healthcare.  He began his speech by saying “Today, we can all see the wisdom of operation insurance freedom.”

He then went on to say that the lack of availability of health insurance for so many in America was “like a weapon of mass destruction” to our economy, and that what the ACA brought forth was “regime change against the axis of evil of health insurers and pharmaceutical companies”

One reporter asked the President if perhaps the celebration was premature, since so much of the law has yet to go into effect, and nobody can say whether the new regime will in fact be better than the old one. Responding in that cute way that makes us forget so many of our other disappointments with him, Obama responded by saying “don’t be a party pooper.”

Tyler, why do you troll your own readers so hard?

"Fact or Fiction" is hardly an applicable title for satire.

Though, to be honest, this fiction is likely every bit as factual as the Op-Ed that Donna Brazille wrote today about Obama vs. Putin.

Not really, smart-n-savvy really.

The job of the Teams is to manipulate their dumbasses with bullshit.  There's specific packages of bullshit that work on each Team's true-believers.

And the Blue Team (D)umbasses respond to this particular package of bullshit.

Sad...but true.

Unfortunately, the vast majority of H. sapiens sapiens are, in reality, little more than dimwitted herd animals- which means that those of us who truly understand and cherish the concept of liberty will, for the foreseeable future, have no other choice but to continuously invent ways to circumvent the insane edicts of that most evil of evils which the herd has been trained to worship since birth- ie, the government.

(Disclaimer:  I'm against the Fed being involved in health-care, including OldFart health-care, but I think the states should provide it.)

I was somewhat surprised that only 6 million people are considered a success.

It is even worse. Lots of people were thrown out of their old health care because of the new mandates. The result is that the 6 million as low and fabricated as it is does not include the number of health care plans disolved. I do not know of any person personally who has signed up for obamacare. But to be fare I do not know anyone who admits to ever voting for Obama in the first place.

Ok let's put this in to context here:)  People did get insurance but what they kind they got, well the algos are still out on that.  As matter of fact that's Obamacare is a bunch of screwed up algorithms that don't play with each other, unlike the algorithms that play well and take your money and rip you off on the markets with HFT.  High five by the way for the great coverage there, that story needs to be told over and over and over.

This is a start as you are going to find crap code in all kinds of other places too, like where I am in Healthcare.  Don't even get me started on health insurance claims algorithms!  They're nasty little critters too. They cost you money you too when you see what I call questionable formulas.  Right now health insurers are hiring quants at a rate I have never seen before, looking to pull the white rabbit out of the hat.

I wrote a post about Obamacare "I't those damn Killer Algorithms.  I coined that and now I see folks searching for a book by that name so I better start writing one maybe:) It made a splash alright with 5000 hits in a day and that's big for me being a niche healthcare blogger that crosses over here once in a while because it's all the same thing, "dirty code" and math models that lie.  Healthcare and financials are connected as look at how they trade on the exchanges:)

Yeah they all go nuts over numbers and that's because can't tell anymore where the virtual world ends and the real world begins.  If you watch the Quants of Wall Street documentary, Mike Osinski who wrote the sub prime software that the banks used and abused (he wrote a good program but as you all know there's no control with what users do with it either) and he was out of it before the major crap rolled down.  "With software you can do something about everything" and right now that seems to fit real good with talk on HFT.  It's code. This is where Nanex shines as it takes time but eventually the queries can match up with arrays of data and when the model lying about risk, well that shortens up the life span too.  I keep the Quant video in my footer of my blog permanently along whit 3 others so if folks stumble down to the bottom of my site, well they might learn something as the videos are at levels where the layman can get something out of it.  When Paul Wilmott tells you what a hedge fund is with using 100 bottles of beer for an example, people can get that plus its a little entertaining.

You can't blame Obama for taking on the insurance business and every corner the insurers had it made as they had quants that know how to model around the verbiage in laws, been doing it for years just like Wall Street and that's the problem.

Months, days, etc. are spent on legal verbiage while in the meantime quants work to create models that don't violate that verbiage but the code can run hog ass wild as nobody understand what' the heck is going on behind closed server doors with code running 24/7 making life impacting decisions about all of us.  At one point during the Healthcare. Gov roll out, Obama even said he couldn't write I give slack there, but I am still dislike the fact that he chose Sebelius to run HHS.  I'm not that smart but I kicked in the teeth back in 2009 for this post...please put someone else in charge as give it a few years, health IT will run her over...and it did...and she irritates me no end with her strange perceptions as she still believes in algo fairies and after this week with HFT does anything really still believe in them:)  What I wrote in 2009 and I got another one of those for DeParle too where I said does either one of those 2 have enough business intelligence to set this law up?  It's not totally their fault outside of dumb non digital tech perceptions as again the insurance companies have it all over the government because they can model for profit with models that hide or adjust risk to do that.

So what did I know back in 2009?  I'm not that smart and don't go around trying to tout that but my mind is logical and the time I spent writing code I learned "data mechanics" so even I don't know a language or a process I can read about it and understand the logic.

Everyone repeating the enrollment numbers, it's like bunch of magpies out there but the news has done that too us as they are having financial issues and are working the ad exposure "click bait" and journos need to keep their jobs.  Nobody predicted that with the news agencies but on the other hand you have all these cash rich companies that won't throw them a few dollars.  Ok so what drives feeds...see the greed there too, they can't even do some serious advertising to keep the new agencies going either.  So they all are looking for ad exposure to fill some revenue streams.  Did you see what happened this week in New Jersey with major layoff at the papers?  Take head because as the news agencies have to cut back, well it's bot that will be doing your news and I don't like that very much either but what do they do.

Check this out, I tried one of the programs on a free trial they had that takes my Google Analytics and writes a story for me..pretty good, but that's my Google stats and we don't want news done this way as it's cheaper for news agencies to get a hold of data bases, turn the bots loose to make a "data story" and gosh we are drowning in it already and it will get worse if we don't have some hard news guys and gals out there.

Did you get all excited with the news that CMS is going to put the data out there on doctors on what they get paid?  It's a boom for the journos, not a consumer event as they will make news out of it as it's cheap to produce. When I wrote this post I think I may have accidentally upset Pro-Publica as I forgot they use Narrative Science too.

It's a great world we have out here is is not.  The poorer the newspapers get, let hard news and more data stories and they bot on the markets, well as more get in there how will they news for bot traders.  God forbid the news bot makes a mistake on the news:)  But it's ok as nobody will be responsible, as it will just be another glitch.  Poor folks in the UK, bank over there this week had glitch that forget to pay their clients interest on their savings accounts...Killer Algorithms.

So let's give old Obama a little break here as after the law was in place, things came about that the algorithms created, they run around in places other than the markets.  Who in the hell knows what kind of insurance policy they have..insurers were using their math profit models and changing the rules all the time.  I don't care who's in that White House office the bots are moving in there too!

The scary thing is that we can't get enough eyes open to see the bots as they are so digital illiterate out there and have no cue how complex this is so insurers keep it complex as that's money, just like we have in the markets.  Nobody wants their dirty code out there and Goldman ran for the doors as they know when folks start poking around who know code someone someday is going to ask about those proprietary math models and code.  You don't change the portfolio, you change the math.

It is sad the way that all of it played out but insurers model their math daily and how many times do you find yourself shifting to accommodate their profit algorithms so you can get care.  Gov should hire some quants, HHS, SEC, DOJ and a few other places.  They are the brains.  I've already attacked our consumer protection guy for going after low fruit only as he's a lawyer, Cordray so he's going after the verbiage, and what did I say above?  Code runs hog ass wild in the meantime.

No in a nutshell whether it's healthcare or the markets "it's that damn code running hog ass wild"....I used to write code and queries and I'm not that good but if I can nonsense, time for others to speak out too.

This guys is good and does a very good presentation on algorithms and about half of it is about the markets and the other half tells you that we as humans have no value but some good bots are worth about $100 as he explains 61% of the web traffic now is bots, the rest is us an last year it was crap is it 71% next if good if you are bot, but not so much for the humans who now are left over to do the menial work the bots can't do.  It sucks!  When you think about Facebook and their expansion, he's expanding for the bots and data and if a few more humans get connected to the internet along the line, then he's a big hero..not!

I can't wait for 2018 and the "cadillac tax" on union insurance health plans kicks in.

Those fuckers voted for it plus sent union dues/cash to the dems.

Watch when they get that tax bill......doh!

To 0bamao: arrogant much?

He also quipped that Ryan's attempt to put some sanity into the budget was a "stinkburger" or a "meanwich" (what a childish ahole!)

The last 5 years of his f-ing agenda has been a giant "shit sandwich" and no matter what condiments you put on, it's still a shit sandwich.
