Early Pump Fades As Stocks Resume Slide
Overnight weakness on the back of disappointment in the BoJ and PBOC was ignored entirely in the few minutes into and past the US open this morning. Perhaps it was the IMF's outlook? Perhaps it was just algos desperate to get back to VWAP to enable institutional sellers out? Whatever it was, the insta-vert-ramp in stocks at the open - entirely disconnecting from bonds, FX carry, and credit - has now reversed. Biotech's early 0.6% gain, gone. S&P's early 5 point rally, gone... and JPY crosses are no help at all as USDJPY tests 102 lows...
WTF moment of the day at the open...
And Biotechs gave it all back...

Perhaps with all the anti HFT crap going on right now the momentum algos have been turned off for the moment. As if trying to prove that they aren't the cause for the market shenanigans.
It is amazing to see the momo stocks not get their daily 5% pop to the upside for no particular reason. I'd say sanity is returning but I know better.
The HFT manipulators will say they're sorry and it won't happen again, and then SODA will pop 38% the next day.
I wonder what tickers are close to whatever Alibaba will trade with? Should be good for an easy profit when we get near the day that stock finally trades.

You can pump a fairly large tire with a good bicycle pump but the tires are getting larger with higher pressure in them. Soon they'll be facing the equivalent of a four foot diameter 100 pound pressure aircraft tire that will launch their pump through the wall when they try to hook it up.
Still no rise on the vxx?
