Guest Post: In The US, Democracy Is Now A Sham
Submitted by 'Ray' via ClubOrlov blog,
The founding principle for this new form of government which emerged in the 18th century, was that the Common Man was the ultimate source of power. Citizen legislators would enact the laws and shape the nation’s destiny. But instead, our republic is now strong-armed by professional politicians. The two dominant concerns of these careerists are to STAY in power and to do the bidding of those who ENABLE them to stay in power. Anyone who doubts this statement might try explaining why campaign finance reform and term limits are perennially “off the table.” Actually, that is an understatement - they aren’t even in the building.
It is bad enough that the President, Congress and the Courts serve the interests of a minority that is so tiny that it is almost microscopic. What is even worse, is WHO that elite constituency is. It is exclusively THE BIGS: Big banks, Big corporations, Big agriculture, Big energy, Big pharmaceuticals, Big health care, Big high tech and the BIGGEST of them all - the military-industrial complex.
The “Vox Populi” – voice of the people is now as quaint and outmoded as telephone booths on street-corners. Even when there is a massive outpouring of disapproval for a policy - such as the enormous public outcry against Iraq Invasion 2 – the will of the people is disregarded. Instead, the “leaders” kiss the sterns of their financial backers. Ten million irate citizens cannot offset a single Halliburton.
But not only has genuine democracy vaporized, its putrid carcass is used against the ordinary person for whom it was initially conceived. Our demagogues give stirring speeches applauding our inalienable rights and the freedoms that our constitution protects. But at the same time, they barely whimper when a whistle blower reveals that the surveillance grid that is monitoring our behavior is beyond the wildest imaginings of Orwell or Huxley. And when the head of the Department of Omnipresent Surveillance admits that he lied to Congress, he is not prosecuted for perjury. Amazingly, he doesn’t even lose his job.
When the President signs the NDAA act which allows for “indefinite detention” of citizens without formal charges or without the right to a lawyer, it should be utterly clear that the boot of Soft-Core Tyranny is now on our neck. And that unchecked and almost unnoticed power continues to grow at an obscene pace. Examples of this are the militarization of small town police departments, the unending malignant growth of the Department of Homeland Security and the cessation of Posse Comitatus which keeps the military from being used as a domestic police force.
But even though our career politicians only represent the rich and the powerful, and even though they abet the steady erosion of our constitutionally ordained rights, it is even worse! That’s because despite making a mockery of democracy at home, they trumpet its virtues abroad. This is shameful Hypocrisy with a capital H.
What they are really trying to spread is not Democracy but Predatory Capitalism. They want to expand the sphere of influence of their financial backers who want greater market share in more and more markets. They do this through subtle intrusion via the IMF and the World Bank. Concurrent with this, they embrace the most corrupt and brutal local politicians they can find. The saying “He may be a genocidal dictator, but he’s OUR genocidal dictator” is not a punch-line in a joke. It is standard operating procedure for U.S. foreign policy. If this kinder, gentler approach fails, then the next steps are assassination or invasion. So the spreading of democracy leaves death, mutilation and destruction in its wake.
So, in conclusion, it appears to me that America is no longer a world-wide exemplar of how to sculpt a civilized society. Instead, it is far down the road to becoming a full-blown Corporate Police State. It has fallen so tragically, that it is now just a self-deluded leper strutting about the global stage - unaware that the theater has already emptied.

Even after the face swap, I love you man!
Corporations don't formulate strategies and create and implement predatory fascist systems, individual humans do, using corporations as a vehicle. There is a small decision making core that is unimaginably wealthy and a larger implementation network of individuals who are well paid, and peripheral lower networks who are not so well paid, most of the players in the networks don't even have a clue where their actions are leading. The decision makers rely on total secrecy to function and widespread dissemination of truth is their fatal weakness. They endeavour to control the global narrative. The internet is their biggest problem. They still understand the problem better than we do but as more pieces of the puzzle reach more people all kinds of spokes get thrown in their wheels. To me it's personal; me and truthseekers like me against whoever is out there engineering this shit. Its not about some nameless faceless corporation, its about the individual somebodies and their agents who use the corporations and it's about any little thing a pawn like me can do to fuck them up.
I donno. If a Democratic society's government is supposed to represent the will of the people, then the US style of government is reflecting what most people want of their government.
The Red Team (R)etards have always wanted a strong kick-ass daddy Old Testament capitalist state, the Red Team has given them a strong kick-ass daddy fascist crony-capitalist state; that pretty darn close.
The Blue Team (D)umbasses have always wanted a strong smothering-mommy socialist state; the Blue Team has given them a strong smothering-mommy crony-socialist state; which is also pretty darn close to what was wanted.
You can't get more democracy than that.
Very astute observations. Problem is - the R and the D will never meet in the middle. This has been proven since about 1990. When we are not willing to live together, the separation will become very messy.
"But not only has genuine democracy vaporized, its putrid carcass is used against the ordinary person for whom it was initially conceived."
Beautiful quote. Put better than I have heard ever.
The U.S. has been dying from internal cancer for a long, long time. It does seem that it is speeding up, but then I have only been watching our country start swirling the drain for about thirty years.
These types of articles, which I totally agree with, are just preaching to the choir. The only people who will read this are people who already know what is going on. Those of us who understand this are vastly outnumbered by those who don't.

Again.... sigh... these idiots. THE US IS NOT A DEMOCRACY.
It is a Republic (" A Republic, if you can keep it"---Ben Franklin"). Democracy is the tyranny of the Majority. There is no "right to vote", so therefore it is not a "Democracy". The voting franchise is only given by the states, and when given, one cannot be discriminated against based on age , sex or race.. The founders didn't want everyone to vote. They knew that at least 75% of the citizenry were idiots--- witness the "election" of the Usurper domestic enemy of the United States
Re: The founders didn't want everyone to vote. They knew that at least 75% of the citizenry were idiots
The problem is how to create a system that allows power to flow upward from "da people" but not allow the sociopaths the ability to manipulate "da people" into voting to destroy the system.
I don't think such a system is possible.
witness the "election" of the Usurper domestic enemy of the United States -- MickV
Which one? Shrub or Obummer? Both fit the description... as would any Presidential candidate of the past fify years. Kennedy was the last wild card.
The overthrown American government that we had was a
Representative Democratic Republic. Oh sigh, you see democracy only signifies the form of government: government of, for and by the people. That is a different form of government then lets say the Republic of the Congo. Ha. Ha.
McStain, Finestain, Grahamcracker, Schloomer, Clinton, Bushes...the best that money can buy
This is part of the problem... What is capital of the US? District of Criminals. OK. Pretty ignorant population I am afraid.

Our government has been completely overrun from the politicians and the big money that work in symbiosis with it. There is NO way our liberties will ever be returned to us nor will any of these cancerous policies every change via the mechanisms that are currently in place.
Let me say that again... there is NO way this will change given the status quo.
There is only ONE solution remaining... we've tried the ballot box, we've tried the soap box, now only the ammo box remains.
The wealthy can lead a revolution but it has to be fought with our young citizens. Unfortunately, our government keeps them dosed up on i-devices, pron, and meaningless distractions to placate them away from the real issues at hand.
How about BIG UNIONS? Public Unions need to be abolished.
Pulic Service Unions = oxymoron
You know, it's not just the USA, the UK is swiftly turning into a cesspool, recent example here

A-fucken-men, well said. So how are we going to change it. Only true way is to starve the very same corrupt government of money.
Long work stoppages and tax revolts.
Tax revolt would be great, but it can't be done by the common working man. He pays income taxes before he gets the payroll check in his hand. Try not paying sales tax at the grocery - they'll tell you "no sale then".
Our govt. has covered all the angles - I'm telling you, there is NO other option. I just hope that enough others realize this before I die of old age. I'd love to see this country of the people and for the people before I'm gone.
Tax revolt can be accomplished by those who run their own small business. Just don't send in your quarterly amount. It would be hard to prosecute if everyone did it. Maybe the government would get the message. Key is to cause it to go bankrupt. We're not far from it right now.
Good article, except that I do not agree with the phrase "Predatory Capitalism."
The foundation of the system is the ability of private banks to make the public "money" supply out of nothing as debts, while the government forces everyone else to accept that fraud. Making "money" out of nothing as debts has nothing to do with the theory of "capitalism." Rather, that is the opposite of capitalism, because it destroys capital. No adjective that qualifies the word "capitalism" is correct. Blaming "financial capitalism," or whatever other similar phrase, is misleading.
In fact, the reality is the triumph of the application of the methods of organized crime being able to dominate the political processes, because the roles of money in politics are not merely to bribe, or to intimidate by threatening to fund one's opponents, but moreover, to pay to discredit or destroy any politicians that can not be otherwise bribed and intimidated, in order to neutralize their abilities to interfere with the best organized gangs of criminals being able to control civilization.
Furthermore, in my opinion it is always a sterile dead-end to continue to use the language of the biggest bullies, with their bullshit about "capitalism" and "free markets," and all the rest of their false fundamental dichotomies, and related impossible ideals. Rather, we should start using unitary mechanisms, to cope with the basic social facts that governments are the biggest forms of organized crime, controlled by the best organized gangs of criminals, (where the currently biggest gangsters are the banksters.)
Democracy must be a sham if it does not democratize its death controls. Citizens would have to be able to comprehend that they are necessarily members of an organized crime gang in order to function as competent citizens. Of course, since they have been almost totally brainwashed to think in ways which make that insight practically impossible for them to assimilate, I am merely speaking about theories, which have no practical point within the foreseeable future. But nevertheless, IF the ideals of democracy enabling a greater use of information, as the operational definition of actually implemented higher consciousness, were to be realized, then citizens would have to accept that militarism is the supreme ideology, and that operating the murder system is their greatest responsibility. However, the paradoxes are growing that success in warfare was based on deceits, and therefore, upon that foundation was built a financial system based on triumphant, runaway financial frauds.
The real system that exists is what happens after murder and fraud are added to "free market capitalism," and take control. Indeed, one way to understand our reality is that there was a de facto "free market" operating in the realms of murder and fraud, which have been able to dominate everything else, because the competitions between being better at dishonesty, and backing that up with violence, i.e., the competition between different organized crime gangs, is what has made and maintained our real political system.
There are no solutions which are possible outside of that situation. IF democracy is going to recover, then it would take enough people going through enough of paradigm shift in the ways that they understand politics to be able to become competent citizens, in order to do that. While I do not actually expect such a series of political miracles to happen, in theory nothing less is possible to achieve, because nothing else actually addresses the basic realities that money is measurement backed by murder.
The money system that currently exists has effectively privatized the power of "We the People." The history of that was due to the persistent bribery, intimidation, and assassination, of politicians, to turn almost all of the survivors of those selection processes into the banksters' puppets, who are voted for by the masses of muppets, that have been brainwashed to believe in bullshit, by the school systems and mass media, that the banksters were able to also dominate, by dominating the history of their funding.
IF democracy is going to recover, then that would take a series of political miracles whereby enough of the citizens were educated enough to understand their real situation sufficiently. Of course, I do not expect that to happen, but nevertheless, I repeated my observations above, regarding what that would take to make it theoretically possible to achieve and sustain.
Jailbreak from the prison is impossible. There is no place to run - no place to hide. The murder state knows no limits to its power. The legion of bootlickers in and out of .gov are ready to scream body-snatcher style at anyone looking to move from the herd. Be scared - very scared. The day fast approaches where the bootlickers are ready to cleanse the herd of outliers. All your puny guns will be as nothing. Pop goes your ammo box and the murder state weapons are vastly superior and vastly outnumber the pop guns you hold so dear. When the day comes, the murder state will turn on the lowest of the bootlickers to make an example for the outliers. The outliers will be settled by a false security as the murder state encircles for the final blow. All that will be left are compliant, bootlicking, murder-state-loving dogs. You will reap 1000 fold what you have sown.
n reply to Radical Marijuana: Beautifully stated, what can be done with uneducated generations that have degrees in worthlessness and are brainwashed stupid to the point that they can't even define the terms “Democracy” , “Free Market” or Free Enterprise System?
The only ones that matter are the honest ones. Because they do all the real work. Thats the ticket. The ones working for the beast can only take. Someone had to make first, the honest. Thats where my efforts are going. The sharpest tool in the drawer is the truth.
Screw the others. They are not capable of making anything better.
America, like many other places, has been infiltrated and run through by the most ruthless, evil, amoral and devious human imitating monsters that have ever existed. Some people think its bad but they havent seen anything yet.
Its not your fault, the vast vast vast majority of you arent evil monsters so how could you possibly be expected to defend yourselves from them.
Dont give up your guns at any cost. When they are gone, so are you, then the rest of us are next.
I saved this article from yesterday. Disturbing to say the least.

Forget about campaign finance and term limits. That's just diversionary. The real money is in the Revolving Door opportunities.
The idea that the Founding Fathers wanted a democracy where the voice of the "Common Man" would reign supreme, is (to put it mildly), a serious misconception.
The design of the electoral college system, the original structure of an appointed Senate, and the fact that only White men with property (i.e. around 10% of the US population at the time) were allowed to vote originally points to something entirely different.
That the new Republic was in fact founded upon the idea of keeping the "Common Man" at arms length from having any real say.
And it worked pretty well! Built some pretty sweet assets that the caring & sharing socialist want to expropriate!
Ha! Whose sterns they kiss. HAHAHAHAHA!!! Love it.
Now, the question I have been wrestling with...help me out my ebullient ZHers. My theory is that yes, all the above is quite true and very very scary, butt, when the Shiites Hit The Fan, where is a better place to be than the good 'ol USofA. I would like to believe that the people of the former United States will show their mettle and rise to the occasion and reconstruct this once fine republic. Or, is there a better place on planet Earth to ride out the storm. Please august body here, tell me, where should we go for the last big party?
Ask the people who are giving up their citizenships! I guess they don't want to hang around & clean up after this 'sweet' party!
Read Marc Faber's BOOK "Tomorrow's GOLD"
He makes clear that anybody that stick's around a country and thinks he can 'wait out' a civil war is a FUCKING MORON.
The best place to be during a civil war, is far away.
Just enjoy the War in Europe or Austrailia or Alaska, or South America, or ASIA, and when its over RETURN buy everything you could imagine for nano-cents on the ounce of gold.
Tanks guys, I'm going to go teach ESL (Engilsh as a Second Language) in Punta Arenas, Chile. The southern tip of S. America. Y'all have fun now, ya hear...
OBTW: Who's the flippin' tapper that gave me a negative tag for THAT post???
@ James - Good idea, ;-)
I can tell you with certainty that once the republic falls that will be it. The U.S. Citizenry is too polarized and too divided across ethnic lines to rise to any rebuilding occasion. The best we can hope for is a peaceful Balkanization. However the more likely outcome will be a bloody civil war with many different factions fighting for supremacy. Once the worst of the blood letting is done the police state with their billions of recently accumulated rounds of ammunition will come in and mop up the rest.
THank goodness everyone is armed and dangerous!
Without a true peoples supreme court we are doomed, they have to go first. None of this was possible without the crooked courts. Kissinger will probably be the next president at this rate.
From the Enlightenment to New Obscurantism. Its cyclic.
History repeats. The renaissance and Counter reform. State Absolutism replaced Church and divine right theocracy shared in Dualist feudal order.
Now we have the new metaphysics of "rights of man" (as if genocide has been abolished-- in Syria or droneistan-- as seen before in Rwanda and Bosnia) and "invisible hand" of autoregulating free markets; both as illusory as divine God and subservient philosopher King of previous paradigm.
"Back to the next paradigm", sums it up, as power never bows to knowledge for long; just the time it takes for the new paradigm to be set in place and then the house of cards is re-erected.
And so we move forward leaning backwards, after having moved backwards leaning forward.
Thats human nature; never standing free for long, always versatile like a reed and often worse than subtle when it grovels before greed and stands tall in hubris to pretend it be honest, all the while it reeks evil more and more in self disgust.
'Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither & lose both.' - Benjamin Franklin
I agree with the main thesis that the system has broken its controls and is now a runaway train and elections between Obamanoids and RINOs are meaningless.
Then there's a lot of ranting, which doesn't much help.
My faith in American democracy was pretty heavily damaged by the 2012 elections, but, well, as long as the 2014 and 2016 elections take place as scheduled, maybe there's still some recovery possible. And nobody said it was supposed to be easy.
The 2014 and 2016 elections are the last line of defense of the Republic. If nothing changes and if 10 to 15 million illegals are legalized, the perpetually needy and the 1% will have won. That is our ultimate clue as to our future direction as a nation.
The masses must awake and vote in a hero who do battle with these elite but they will kill him. Just like JFK, this person would be very vulnerable.
"...as long as the 2014 and 2016 elections take place as scheduled, maybe there's still some recovery possible."
These will be "elections" in name only. Mr. Diebold will see to that.
It's all charades for now... until the shooting starts, and there are no lack of high value targets.
Read "Term Limits" by Vince Flynn... a VERY good book.
Didn't EVERYONE in our military swear an oath to "Protect and Defend"??? Why are they ALL breaking this oath?
When they swear an oath to protect and defend a document and they have NO FUCKING CLUE as to what that document declares, or decrees, then it is a rather meaningless oath, isn't it?
They sign contracts without READING and UNDERSTANDING the terms and conditions.
Furthermore many of them have Double Digit Intelligence Quotients.
(IQs of 85 to 99 are still considered Normal. A full 34% of the population have those types of Iqs. Furthermore another 15% have IQs below 85. An IQ of 100 is the Mean.)
They have no clue and THERE IS NO FUCKING HOPE.
What they are really trying to spread is not Democracy but Predatory Crony Capitalism.

I stumbled upon a blog on WordPress .com written by Gerry Spence who was born and educated in the small towns of Wyoming where he has practiced law for almost fifty-five years. Spence has spent his lifetime representing and protecting victims of the legal system from what he calls The New Slave Master: big corporations and big government.
I feel it is interesting to see both the Tea party and the Wall Street Movement ridiculed and manipulated by politicians and the media for their own benefit and to marginalize their messages. Yes we are slaves in that we have so little freedom in today's modern world. The article below delves deeper into this subject.

Nope. Bullshit. That's eggggsactly what they want.
Instead, how about a month long work strike. They'll all be standin' in line to chow down on yer crank after one week.
Remember HOW they make their money. They make their money off your PRODUCTION, your WORK, your TOIL. Got it?
They are LEACHES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No need for any gunz or silliness. Take a fukken month off from work. You see how FEW productive people there are here in the US now? Imagine of only 25% of the people that actually PRODUCE something take a month off from work. This shit will grind to a halt in a week, not a shot fired. No need to even go there.
Hit the nail right on the head.
Aye
violence is the answer. the trouble with americans is they are way too polite. their violence threshold without antidepressants is too high for effective revolution, even black people seem too tired to rage.

Hayek's response to a Stanford student's question regarding inflation and the prospects of a free market in a democracy...
Hayek: “Well, we must be very careful what we mean by democracy. If you mean the present form of democracy, I entirely agree. And I’m much worried about this. Because the democracy, as we know it, is bound to fail and so many people getting disillusioned to where they’re turning against democracy altogether.
But it’s only one particular defect of our democratic system and it’s by no means necessary that a democracy means an omnipotent elected assembly. When, say, most of history, modern history, was an attempt to limit government. And then there was an unfortunate development. The people believed that once you gave the power to the representatives of people, their majority, no other limitation of government was any longer necessary. So all the long designed efforts to limit government were swept away and the power given to a single assembly which could both make the laws, which it was its first purpose, and government.
So we have got unlimited democracy where the majority of elected assembly can do what it wills. What it wants. And what it wants is by no means of serving the opinion of a majority. Because the process in which you form a majority is paying off particular groups with particular benefits and so long as the elected to the assembly has the power it must do it. You cannot form a majority in the representative assembly unless you use the power you have in order to grant particular benefits to particular groups. Now this form of democracy is both pernicious and people are beginning to recognize it and it’s going to break down."
it doesn't matter who wins the next us election. whoever wins will take possession of an empty cash register with a note in it.saying there's no money left.
Big agriculture? For the sake of accuracy let's call it "Big Biotech" Instead. Industrial farmers go into enormous debt and rely on the likes of Monsanto and DuPont to continue business. Companies also have an army of lawyers and lobbyists that go after the small farmer in the event that their fields become contaminated with these patented GMO seeds.
The front line of gaining one's freedom should start on the farms.
Big Finance couldn't originate a loan out of their ass and Big Ag couldn't find a plow if there was only a choice betweeen a plow and a skateboard.

Nothing new, except this stupid fucking narrative that the USA was ever NOT a police state.
We IRISH know, what you don't know, we know that the UK always had us by the ball's, the USA thinks there was a revolution, and thinks that they were a free country, ... its all a fucking narrative.
Tocqueville laid it all out in 1860, ... The USA a DEMOCRACY my fucking ass.
Sorry, but democracy is a sham and a scam.
Democracy is a virulent form of slavery.
-----
Okay, even I appreciate some of the writings of Thomas Jefferson and various other writers of the 18th century. But we are dishonest if we do not observe and comprehend the rest of the situation and story.
Let's start with the "situation". That was, a continent already occupied for somewhere between 50,000 and 150,000 years by "native americans"... from all the way up north to the southern tip of south america.
Furthermore, they already had a "system". And despite the fact some of the many "tribes" that were the analog of "nations" today were not very receptive or "kind" to outsiders, an honest individual must acknowledge the overall "system" was quite excellent in theory, and worked reasonably well considering the developmental state of mankind and technology (and for tens of thousands of years before).
What do I mean? The basic structure was numerous "tribes". Some tribes wandered between various areas as the seasons changed, or when supplies of naturally occurring food (animals and plants) varied. Between the tribes were what we might call "no mans land". The net result was the following "system".
An individual would naturally tend to live their early years with parents and/or their relatives in whatever tribe they were born into (if any). Each tribe had its own rules, requirements, punishments and strategies to survive from generation to generation. When each individual became skilled enough to survive on his own, he had a choice. He could leave the tribe, strike out on his own, and attempt to survive by means of his own skills and actions in "no mans land". Or he might attempt to develop a relationship with another [friendly/receptive] tribe that had rules and practices that more appealed to him.
In effect, every individual was inherently free... once they were old enough to attempt to actually live free. Of course, this is not the only version. Perhaps even more common were family decisions to move into "no mans land" and establish an independent family, with whatever family dynamics the individuals established and tolerated.
The point being... everyone had a choice. Those individuals who today are collectivists would never imagine striking out on their own... though they might choose to [attempt to] join some other tribe. But those individuals who today are [rugged] individualists... were free to live that way. The only requirement? Live in "no mans land", which means "everywhere except the little settlements the various tribes established, moved around and lived within".
So, what did this great advance people call "democracy" add?
ANSWER: SLAVERY FOR ALL.
The central notion of democracy IS slavery. The only difference between the conventional slavery of "slavery to a king or emperor" or "slavery to an elite" was the novelty of "slavery to the majority of voters" (where "voters" is restricted to [fill in the blank]).
But slavery is slavery, and slavery is when someone else decides what you must or must not do, while non-slavery is every individual decides for himself.
So "democracy" was nothing more than a great sales job by the predators-that-be. Enough of them had been killed for their abuses that they wanted some solution that would take the cross-hairs off of their foreheads. The most obvious way was... spread the cross-hairs so widely that nobody could figure out who to eliminate to realize their freedom (or even remedy some specific gripe).
Think about it. If you have absolute, total, 100% control of your own time, effort, skills, property and resources... why would anyone in their right mind give that away to majority vote of their neighbors or any other [fictitious] group?
NO HONEST INDIVIDUAL WOULD.
Which makes the success of the sales job performed on this notion of "democracy" rather amazing. They convinced everyone to allow themselves to be enslaved. Not only was that a terrible result, but the form of slavery they established is now virtually impossible to uproot. Which was, of course, one important reason the predators-that-be love "democracy".

Welcome to America Ann,
>>>
Ann, it wasn't just the USA or Africa, Cecil Rhodes
implemented this system of 'freedom' all over the world.
Essentially you put rapists and hairlips in charge of a nation, allow them to rape and kill the indiginants,, you put in an intellectual team of 'reporters' to make the hairlips think their doing god's work.
They set this up in INDIA, AFRICA, SE-ASIA, ...
all over the world.
This is why, serious students of this shit must read all the works of Carrol Quigley, but the books and mark them up, not the fucking free internet 'abridged shit', get the first edition of all 4 volumes of Quigley, he starts when men lives in caves, and moves all the way to the
mid 1980's. Quigley was chief historian for CIA, and Bill Clinton's mentor.
The USA exceptional my ass, it was a young country, with lots of resources (timber,oil,...coal) sadly, its all mostly gone now, .. so time to CULL the masses.
She is not in America. Me thinks that she is down in South America in the Andes...Peru??? (She is a long time contributor and I enjoy her posts as they are refreshing.)
Love ya, Ann...
Tocqueville made it clear +150 years ago that the USA DEMOCRACY, would be controlled by the FSA, and the PTB would play the FSA like a fiddle.
Anybody that say's that the USA was ever a 'FREE' nation is a MORON of the lowest order.
A penal colony became a agriculture colony, became an industrial colony, became a Breeding ground for Mercenary's.
To rape and plunder the world, and the hair lips (USA CITIZENS) think they're #1, and FREE, and that its always been this way, ... NOT.
>>>
Now the free fiat to infinity is evaporating before their eyes, the PTB is terrified that HAIR-LIP nation might wake up from their TV drug induced stupor, and find that the EBT card has quit working. What's a mother to do? WW3
Its just the State and Corporate merger is more in the open now than it was, its only Fascism, learn to embrace it because its not going anywhere,

It recently came out thanks to information leaked by Edward Snowden that the "black budget" last year was a massive 52 billion dollars. This is the money used in "secret" spy operations, and it is enough to send shivers down the back of those that have read about the totalitarian society of Oceania described in George Orwell's novel Nineteen Eighty-Four. In Orwell's novel, all citizens of Oceania are monitored by cameras and are fed fabricated news stories by the government. More on this subject in the article below.

Lots of intelligent people and comments on this particular thread. I so much enjoy the opportunity to hear and consider other peoples' viewpoints. Here's mine...
A country is the sum total of its individual citizen. That is its building block, its essence. That is where the society, the economy, the government, etc. is sourced, created and grows from. All one has to do is look at the condition of the average citizen of a country (viewing the complete entity: mind, body and spirity) and one can predict the future of that country.
There will aways be the minions (the herd, the sheeple, the Luddites, the masses, etc.) and there will always be the leaders (intellectuals, responsibles), who are always a small minority of the masses.
Once a system this powerful has been corrupted, and reaches this level of momentum and force it isn't difficult to predict its future.
There is no mystery here. We all know what the history books written by objective and honest historians will say about this time in which we live.
The questions that should be being asked are... who can create the strong, ethical individual? who can rehabilitate the individual? who can create a leader?
That person or group is the one to give all of your support to.
I support myself.
The rest of you can support yourselves.
Seems simple enough to me. I recognize NO leaders, NO authorities, NO responsibles (whatever that is supposed to mean).
Also, you have the comment about powerful and corrupt backwards. It should note that once any "system" or "organization" becomes powerful, those humans with the most interest in power (which always means virulent predators) will always gain control and more thoroughly corrupt it. It cannot happen any other way. Humans who are honest, ethical and productive must spend a lot of time, effort and resources to get that way... while the most dedicated and aggressive predators spend every minute of their lives, and every effort to gain control, gain power, and dominate everyone (especially the producers).
DO NOT SUPPORT ANYONE... EVER. Not if what you mean by "support" involves "leaders" or "authority" or "governence" or anything like these.
Your statement about predators is correct.
Your statement about supporting yourself is delusional at best.
And how would you know that?
Why not move that sum of individual citizens to another country? Sum will remain the same and it will holidays to people who really are in need of them.
Democracy never existed.
Weath gets those elected to do your bidding and government offerings of tax cuts / incentives are just a bribe so you tick the right box.
Democracy has always been a sham, and always will be.
Let me break it down for you in the form of a syllogism.
If the people don't understand what the government is doing, they cannot control the government.
The people never have and never will understand what the government is doing.
THEREFORE, the people never have and never will be in control of the government.
Democracy is about riling up the masses with nonsense and using them as a battering ram against your enemies.
I know you young turks do not realize it, but our constitution provided for an increase in the number of Representatives with a large increase in the population. I was in fourth grade when this was changed because no one wanted to foot the bill to rebuild the house and senate. Instead, our Government chose to allow the representation to become so small that the group could easily be manipulated and controlled. The excuses are many, the results profound.
What they are really trying to spread is not Democracy but Predatory Capitalism.

You have to give to 'americans'. They are never short of words to conceal the existence of 'americanism'.
It is not democracy but predatory capitalism.
Waooo.
Where does the word 'americanism' get cast in?
On 1776, July, 4th, 'americanism', that system of theirs, was unleashed onto the world. That unique of system of theirs.
How comes 'americans' are so shy from assessing the effects?
Predatory capitalism? What is that? How is this needed?
Was slavery, despite declaring freedom as an inalienable human right, predatory capitalism?
Was the land grabbing at the expense of the Indians, despite declaring property as an inalienable right, predatory capitalism?
It does not matter because both of these things were 'american', part of the 'american' system, part of 'americanism'.
This is how 'americans' have been operating since 1776, July, 4th.
Of course, taking that road, assessing 'americanism' and its consequences, leads to the conclusion that 'americanism' has not changed since 1776,Kuly,4th, that it keeps operating the same way.
And this cant satisfy 'americans' who in a desperate need of a fabled past to shield them from reality.
Reading 'american' comments, it always is funny to see how they cant evade the same debunked utter drivel. Since 1776, July, 4th, them, the innovative people, have been failing to renew their propaganda line.
For 'americans', the group is all.
Nevertheless, they cant help throwing in their natural rights theory while mentioning the second after that their government, their republic exists to protect the rights of citizens.
Our export to the world is actually not Capitalism, but let me posit that it is a form of inverted Trotskyism. This is nothing short of trying to become global hegemon in military and finance, while flattening all labor including that in the US to the lowest common denominator.
No regulation, no qualitiy control, no taxing of the corporations and through the TPP setting up a corporatist tribunal to punish any sovereign state when they sue the transnationals for damages.
I describe this global system as the US exerting it's unipolar power in a one-two punch of Neo-Conservatism with Neoliberalism. The Neo Cons use the military as the blunt force taken upon anyone who's infrastructure they want to privatize. The enable the privatized contractors to the tune of $billions to "rebuild" the countries we smash. Then the Neoliberals come in for the IMF loan kill. Once the countries accept the loan, we move into the Milton Friedman special and impose austerity on the public domain and sell it for pennies on the dollar to then come back and charge the citizenry through the nose for services which were once low cost/or free.
In the meantime the people lose their pensions and social safety net, worth $$$ to the IMF. There are schemes involved in circulating the IMF loan to key figures who never circulate the money into the country, bypassing soveriegn needs. Yes, indeed we are spreading lawlessness around the world for the gain of a tiny few. Our institutions are gutted and broken and this is what we offer the world over.
This is the end of history? I think not. There are many chapters left to be written if we can survive this vision thing.
HonestAnn:
Silly girl.
You just support yourself? It's only common sense and proof from history that the individual always loses. Anything important can only be accomplished by a group. The "only one" has no power and is always annihilated.
Also, you recognize no authority? Oh please. What delusional thinking. What are you, the super power of planet Earth? You, as all of us are as individuals, are the total effect of governments, courts, law enforcement, prisons, militaries, and so on. You couldn't even stand up to your local or municipal government.
