East Ukraine Braces For Military Operation As Ultimatum Passes: Full Ukraine Event Recap
As was expected, so called Russian separatists completely ignored Ukraine's 0600 GMT ultimatum to hand over their weapons and give up, which means Ukraine now is in the clear, according to its leaders, to engage in the previously warned military "anti-terrorist" operation. As a result, as Reuters updates, "towns in eastern Ukraine on Monday braced for military action. As the 9 a.m. (07.00 a.m. BST) deadline issued by authorities in Kiev expired, a Reuters reporter in the flashpoint city of Slaviansk, where armed men had seized two government buildings, said there was no outward sign the rebels were complying with the ultimatum." Subsequent reports indicated that since the deadline passed, at least 4 people have been killed however since virtually no "factual" propaganda news out of Ukraine is to be believed, we would heavily discount this update.

In Slaviansk as of 9 a.m. local time on Monday, a Russian flag still flew over police headquarters, one of two buildings taken over by the separatists, while masked men continued to man barricades of sandbags in front of it.
Even as the deadline passed, a truck appeared bringing more tyres to heap on top of the barricades to reinforce them.
There was tension in the air as people tried to go about their normal business, though school and colleges have been closed and parents advised to keep their children indoors.
Alexei Myzenko, a 38-year-old bank teller, was at work as usual, but he said he and his wife had told their son, who is at university in the eastern town of Kharkiv, not to attend lectures on Monday.
"We didn't want anything to happen to him," said Myzenko. "Of course, some people are afraid. But they are still lining up to get their pensions," he said.
Myzenko said his wife, who is a teacher, had been called by the town administration to tell her that school was cancelled until further notice.
Presenting "military forward guidance"
Iryna Zemlyanskaya, 62, who works as a pharmacist, said: "I am going to work. They've promised to use force so many times and have not done a single thing. No-one's even afraid anymore."
Below is the complete recap of overnight events courtesy of RanSquawk:
- Interim President Turchinov had set a deadline of 0600 GMT for the rebels to lay down their arms or face full anti-terrorist operations, however this deadline was not met. Since then 4 people have been killed in the clashes in Slovyansk.
- Ukraine President Turchinov says Kiev leadership 'not against' referendum being held in Eastern Ukraine at the same time as Presidential election.
- At least 100 Pro-Russian separatists attack police headquarters in east Ukraine city of Horlivka.
- Following the news of increasing tensions coming from Ukraine, Germany has halted arms export licenses to Russia, according to Ministry.
- EU is looking at stage 3 sanctions for Russia which could include economic and financial measures, according to Irish Deputy Premier Gilmore.
- Polish Foreign Minister says the situation in Ukraine could be used as pretext for armed Russian intervention.
- UK Foreign Secretary Hague says there can be no doubt that events in Eastern Ukraine have been instigated by Russia, that Russian denials of involvement do not have a shred of creditability and that further sanctions have to be the response to Russia's behaviour in East Ukraine.
- Donetsk's branch of the Party of Regions will have an urgent convention in Donetsk on April 16.
- Former Prime Minister and Batkivshchyna party leader Yulia Tymoshenko called Ukrainians for general mobilization. She also backed the government's decision to use military force against separatists in the east.
- Pro-Russian rioters have stormed the police station in the city of Horlivka, a city of 290,000 people in Donetsk oblast. Before seizing the building, protesters threw rocks at windows and set small fires on the ground floor, which police officers promptly extinguished. Police initially lobbed stun grenades to repel the attacking protesters.
Should Ukraine once again escalate and launch the trumpeted military operation, watch for a prompt and significant Russian response.

"all of us are patriotic Americans"
WHAT IS A pATRIOTIC american? = fools or naves perhaps - the only thing left is really ...money
"he is a Man's man" ... so you bought the carefully crafted propaganda intended only to fool the great unwashed masses of Russian conservatives and rural poor, lol; what relevance does this opinion have to anything at all?
"and he has his bankers by the neck" ... your ignorance is on display, you sound like the type who believes the Bolsheviks weren't being controlled and bankrolled by all sorts of groups in the West. I recommend reading any book about the collapse of the Russian SSR.
Dissent on moral grounds is about as patriotic as a person can be. Why don't you trolls preach to the choir on MSM? I can see that you are not happy here. You will find a more appreciative crowd elsewhere.
They aren't paid, its a patriotic thing ... by foreign fools lol
You're just jealous cause your "president" is a watery pussy and Putin is a man's man. No down arrow from me cause you got enough of them already.
"no "factual" propaganda news out of Ukraine"
Are you suggesting that this site is the cornerstone of truth?

No, Huffingtonpost is the cornerstone of truth, go there and get your news. Onelove.

Crimea has been Roman, Greek, Scythian, etc... It's been Russian since the late 1700's.
apparently Kiev is now proposing a joint military operation with UN troops.
of course we all know who would make up the "UN" contingent...
war on.
hedge accordingly.
Obummer would not touch this situation with the ten foot pole that Reggie used to ram up his butt. Obummer wants to focus on the total destruction of what is left of our Constitution with more unlawful edicts, executive orders, etc. after the midterm elections.
That is his mission. Period.
Plain stupid. China and Russia both have veto votes on the security council. It's NATO or mercs or just the United Ziofascists of Kiev - no UN.
And with all those Russian speaking Ukrainians Russia can sprinkle the place with highly trained and motivated Russian guerillas to help deal with Kiev's enforcers.
From the happenings of last weeks...I can see Cowboys and Rus same thinkings..."leave us alone"

U.S. wants to supply weapons to Ukraine
German Economic News | Posted: 14:04:14, 14:52
The United States consider arms sales to the leadership of Ukraine, as a U.S. diplomat. The protests in several cities in eastern Ukraine were supported by Russia. This ähnle the events a few weeks ago in the Crimea, which ended with connecting the peninsula to Russia.

- Early after the WWI, Russia supported the spreading of communism in Europe, America and Asia, while purging its own occupied territories of locals and bringing instead Russian loyalists. See the communist rebellions in Romania, the Russian-Polish war, the Ukraine mass killings, the Spanish civil war (the foreign communist guerillas will go back to their home countries in Eastern Europe after the war and take the power there) etc.
- In 1939 Russia was an ally of Nazi Germany (see Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact) and invaded neighbouring countries, including Poland, Romania etc., organizing mass purges (killings) and relocations of civilian population in order to empty the land of natives.
- The Russians and the Germans were good allies at the beginning of WW2.
- After the war, Stalin obtained from the weak western allies major territorial concessions and was able to implement further mass killings in the victim countries in Eastern and Central Europe, from Romania to Poland.
Russia does not have a history of living in peace with the neighbouring countries. It will try to pillage, kill people and grab as much land as possible, over and over again.
It will try to pillage, kill people and grab as much land as possible, over and over again.

Bad news for russians. They've stumbled accross people who are so superior to them in that game: 'americans'.
If russians think themselves any good at this game, they are going to learn the meaning of the term good, courtesy of 'americans'.
This is not about Russia vs. America. The subject here are the victim countries. If you apply to the whole world the filters of the confrontation between the imperialist Russia and imperialist America you will easily skip over millions of people being enslaved and killed.
And there is no logical similarity between a revolution against a regime of thugs (yes, Yanukovich is a thug and recently a killer) and a secession sponsored by a foreign power. It is true that there is a big Russian minority in Ukraine, but they were opressed by Yanukovich in the same way the Ukrainians were opressed and exploited. This minority card was created especially after the mass killings of Ukrainian population before WW2 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor) and the following population replacements engineered by Russia.
Razvan
Let's really research history, and not rewrite it as we go.
Sure, Yanukovich was definitely a robber-baron (kind-of-a-thug), though not much of a killer as the Berkut were largely unarmed and defensive. But Tymoshenko (let's nuke the Russians in E. Ukraine, kill them all) is also somewhat thuggish, don't you think. And yes, there are serious issues with Holodomor and Russian inmigration, but were the Russians set up by the British and Americans? Ever hear of the "Golden Blockade"? Though all of Europe was on the gold standard in 1925, and Russians tried to pay in gold for much needed machinery and industrial imports (to modernize the economy), they were rebuffed. They were forced to pay in other commodities (timber, oil, and grains). Shortly after Stalin took over the screws were tightened. Grain only! And his response in 1932 was to "collectivize" all farming to increase agricultural production, commoditize it as national wealth, and trade excess grains for imports. Where was the majority of productive farming? The Ukraine! It was indeed a sad day for the Kulaks of the Ukraine.
So today there are nearly 10 million ethnic Russians in the Ukraine. It doesn't matter how or when they got there. They are innocent bystanders just like you and I. And they are not acting as if they were oppressed by and exploited by Yanukovich as you say (wages are more than double in the eastern Ukraine) which is why they voted for Yanukovich (not just once, but twice) overwhelmingly (whether or not they were native Russian or Ukrainian speakers, by the way).
So let's not be too much of a hurry to rewrite history just yet.
Good post..
Berkut special forces were largely unarmed and defensive. Mhm. Were you somehow an observer in the demonstrations square? Did Berkut guys borrowed you a lighter for your cigar, while they danced in their defensive positions? Are you the owner of the thruth and a researcher of history, not rewriting as you go?
So, the Holodmor is America fault! Got it. Pretty slick comment and I like the observation "not rewrite it as we go". You may be a government spokesperson?
Third: you understand that there are hard feelings between the majority and an etnic minority that has the power. And that the minority cannot have the power without Russia support. I would recommend you to visit Ukraine and talk to Ukrainians and see what's their take of this. Because you cannot say "shit happened in 1932" (because of the Americans off course) and now we must fuck Ukrainians again to prove that they don't hate Russia.
@ RazvanM
"...This minority card was created especially after the mass killings of Ukrainian population before WW2 (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holodomor) and the following population replacements engineered by Russia."
please do not spit out the MSM propaganda here (you may wish to troll on the other places!)... MIXING THE BOLSHEVIKS with the Russian people myth!
Below is a post by a member here, silvermail, i repost here the full lines for easy ref!
"I'm sorry, to pee on your bonfire, but all your guesses and assumptions are very far from the real truth.
First, those Russian people who live in the Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kharkov and the rest of South-Eastern Ukraine, are indigenous inhabitants of these lands. Bolsheviks, annexed all this land from Russia to Ukraine, together with the indigenous Russian population. The Bolsheviks did it violently, through tears, sorrow and blood of the Russian people. All Russian, who were against this accession for Ukraine, was physically destroyed or sent to the Gulag camps.
This is a map of lands, that Russia gave Ukraine in different years:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpDyt6PlCJs
http://www.liveinternet.ru/users/3948302/post315203230/
Moreover, the Ukrainian famine, which you call as "Stalin's struggle against the Ukrainians," in fact, occurred on these former Russian lands.
Most of Russian people was dead of this hunger, but not Ukrainians. But Western propaganda always lies about it, with the aim to put the Ukrainians as a "victim of genocide by the Russian."
Secondly, trying to talk about Russia and Russians, you should understand one very important detail: "Russian" - is not a nationality. "Russian" - a state of soul and mind. Great Russian Empress Catherine II, was German. But she was Russian in her soul. The great Russian poet Pushkin - was Ethiopia. But he was a Russian soul. Great Russian Admiral Kolchak was a Turk. But he was a Russian soul. All Russian history is filled with outstanding personalities from the Netherlands, Germany, Austria, France and so on. All of these great people have contributed immensely to the development of Russia . They were citizens of Russia and considered it an honor to be called "Russian". They were Russian soul and mind.
Great post by Silvermail...
Silvermail is correct...famine was Volga regions and Kazakhstan also..
Soviet was never a Russian construct..
From 1917 thru Stalin was not Russians in control..
Stalin was not Russian, but Georgian
Russians suffered more than any....
That was the old Soviet Union. By your reasoning, Germany is still Nazi. Have you had your head out of your ass at all in this century?
You left out of your canned history that the Sovet Union had a military alliance with France which the French abandoned after they caved in to Hitler over Czechoslovakia in 1938.
In 1939, Soviet Union asked for military alliance with UK, France and Poland. Poland declined. That's why and when Soviets did nonaggression pact with Germany, after 6 years of trying to stop Germany through military alliances the West rejected time and time again.
You are correct of course. America murdered Native Americans for their land and now under the guidance of their occupiers are actively spreading their goodwill globally. Putin has cast out Russias occupiers who are trying to weasel their way back in. I'll take my chances with Russia and I bet most Ukrainians will as well.
@ RazvanM
You're CONFUSING the BOLSHEVIK USSR with the Russian people! That's a terrible flaw for a genuine ZH reader.
an earlier post by other member here may shed more lights to you
The notion of the existence of a Russian people, with the criteria that anyone could go and physically pick out these people, is absurd.
How many dozens of recognized ethnic-linguistic groups currently reside in the Russian Federation, to say nothing of the Russian SSR, to say nothing of the entire USSR.
It is the very same nationalism - and nothing more - from some time around the 18th/19th century, that created a "French" people or an "American" people, purely to advance the centralizing and imperialist political agendas of the age.

Really past time we dispensed with these outmoded, scientifically eviscerated, vacuous, and false concepts of race and national-political ethnicity.
Russia does not have a history of living in peace with the neighbouring countries. It will try to pillage, kill people and grab as much land as possible, over and over again.
you jews really are funny

The greatest lie ever sold has been the lack of real exposure of what the Bolsheviks were and did. No big epic Hollywood productions on that topic.
No jew here, mister, just historical facts. And I had at least one member of my family being shot by communists. Do you know anything about Russia, or just repeat the propaganda that you stumble upon?
Do you understand the very real distinction between the Soviet Union and Russia? Or is that brain of yours really filled with straw?
Please do explain the difference. You may enrich my poor brain.
You were doing so well with the propapanda dept, we are gonna let you roll with it. We'll stick with facts.
How is life in Kiev since you deposed your lawfully elected leader and replaced him with a cabal of mob appointed criminal oligarchs?
Very good, here's some more historical facts, history is such a fun and varied discipline, like economics and law, just write the shit down in a book and viola, its history.

The Federal Reserve Cartel: The Eight Families
By DEAN HENDERSON
(Part One of a Five-part series)
The Four Horsemen of Banking (Bank of America, JP Morgan Chase, Citigroup and Wells Fargo) own the Four Horsemen of Oil (Exxon Mobil, Royal Dutch/Shell, BP and Chevron Texaco); in tandem with Deutsche Bank, BNP, Barclays and other European old money behemoths. But their monopoly over the global economy does not end at the edge of the oil patch.
According to company 10K filings to the SEC, the Four Horsemen of Banking are among the top ten stock holders of virtually every Fortune 500 corporation.[1]
So who then are the stockholders in these money center banks?
This information is guarded much more closely. My queries to bank regulatory agencies regarding stock ownership in the top 25 US bank holding companies were given Freedom of Information Act status, before being denied on “national security” grounds. This is rather ironic, since many of the bank’s stockholders reside in Europe.
One important repository for the wealth of the global oligarchy that owns these bank holding companies is US Trust Corporation - founded in 1853 and now owned by Bank of America. A recent US Trust Corporate Director and Honorary Trustee was Walter Rothschild. Other directors included Daniel Davison of JP Morgan Chase, Richard Tucker of Exxon Mobil, Daniel Roberts of Citigroup and Marshall Schwartz of Morgan Stanley. [2]

(2) Tragedy and Hope: Professor Carroll Quigley
Tragedy And Hope: A History Of The World In Our Time (1966) by CARROLL QUIGLEY
Somehow one of the most revealing books ever published slipped through the editorial of offices of one of the major publishing houses in New York and found it way into the bookstores of America in 1966.
Professor Quigley was an extraordinarily gifted historian and geo-political analyst. The insights and information contained in his massive study open the door to a true understanding of world history in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a work of exceptional scholarship and is truly a classic. The author should have received a Nobel Prize for his work.
In 1961 Carroll Quigley published "The Evolution of Civilizations". It was derived from a course he taught on world history at Georgetown University. "Quigley coupled enormous capacity for work with a peculiarly "scientific" approach. He believed that it should be possible to examine the data and draw conclusions. As a boy at the Boston Latin School, his academic interests were mathematics, physics, and chemistry. Yet during his senior year he was also associate editor of the Register, the oldest high school paper in the country. His articles were singled out for national awards by a national committee headed by George Gallup.
At Harvard, biochemistry was to be his major. But Harvard, expressing then a belief regarding a well-rounded education to which it has now returned, required a core curriculum including a course in the humanities. Quigley chose a history course, "Europe Since the Fall of Rome." Always a contrary man, he was graded at the top of his class in physics and calculus and drew a C in the history course. But the development of ideas began to assert its fascination for him, so he elected to major in history. He graduated magna cum laude as the top history student in his class.

Read also the short book by W. Cleon Skousen titled: "The Naked Capitalist," written as a commentary on a 1300 page tome by Dr. Carroll Quigley (Bill Clinton's mentor!) It will tell you all you need to know about how the current imperium was put on this path of inevitable destruction. When Quigley wrote the book in 1969 he felt safe in publishing it because he thought there was no turning back by then. Quigley died in 1977. From the way things are going, he may very well have been right.
Carroll Quigley's 'Tragedy and Hope: A History of The World in Our Time' and W. Cleon Skousen's 'The Naked Capitalist' plus few other Quigley's venerable, hard to find works, all in good quality now come in bundle.

Having read either one of these great reference thoroughly one will never again be so dumb by confusing the Bolshevik USSR with the Russian people. Ofc the references reveal a lot of other crucial historical things and even are still quite relevant with the contemporary dynamics. And you are ignorant of who the "communists" were?

From 1917 thru Stalin it was never an Russian construct..

Some fan of unelected governments state here that there is no source of evil.
He's wrong, there is, when it has "central" in it's name you are looking it in the eyes!
Evil is the source of acts that are called 'evil'. But go on back tothe stone age and live like a noble savage in the paradise of nature if you think that it can be identified with the state and its rule of law. Just mind the cannibals and all that while you do.
Where do I state to go to stone age wthout government?
My point is decentralisation of government is a more natural form, when you live in a small community amongst the people you govern, you will think twice before screwing them!
When you live privileged life, far from the common people, you can screw them without consequences
One glaring hole in your thinking is your confusion over central government and the over-reaching, micro-managing, authoritarian nanny state. European monarchies for instance, despite their central power, have historically been just the opposite of the latter.
If you are promoting a new Kaiser Reich, I will give you a green.
You imply it, as the centralised state, which is not in the least exclusive of local government, is strangely as old as civilisation itself while your "more natural form" has never existed except as a marker of the social collapse and anarchic ruin that is the regression to barbarism. You speak of 'nature'? This is a dog-eats-dog world, and the dogs try and eat each other as soon as the master is away. That is the reality of history. And that is the reality of man's nature. Everything else is speculative theorising and happy-clappy utopianism that ends like all 'progressive' social-engineering has: in rivers of blood.
Banking, government..
Centralization is the root of all evil.
Decentralization is the best concept to keep evil down and humble.
If only one has a gun, chances are he's going to misbehave. If more people have guns, he'll think twice.
Centralization is giving one guy a gun and disarm the others. (and pray he will be nice..)
So more power to states/nations less to Fed's and EU please. The more centralisation, the greater the distance between government and people, the greater the danger of corruption an misbehaving. If Mao and Stalin's powers were limitid to part of the country, a lot of shit would not have happened.
Large centralized governments are a concentrated source of political power, and as a result, can experience serious problems when individuals become corrupted or fail to do their jobs. A decentralized political system that is composed of many local governments provides a distribution of power that can prevent widespread corruption or unresponsiveness. In addition, local governments that become corrupted or that fail to respond to local residents are easier than national governments to hold accountable due to their small size.
Yeah? How did that 'decentralisation' work out for the peoples of Western Europe between the fall of the Carolingian Empire and the re-establishment of monarchic power a couple of centuries later? You know, with no central power to keep all the nice and not at all power hungry feudal warlords in check, who could never have asserted themselves as tyrants in any case because the people and their little decentralised local towns would magically band together and all that to secure everyone's liberty instead of either tagging along themselves for the a-rapin' and a-pillaging or being picked off one-by-one like little decentralised powers can be.
The only difference is where the aggression ends up.
In feudal kingdoms, it's overwhelmingly internal.
In monarchies, it's overwhelmingly external.
And you are conflating the decline of the Carolingian state (9th-10th century) with the virtual disappearance of commerce and a money economy (6th century). The political character which continental Europe took on was from the time of the collapse of the Roman Empire a result of the lack of commerce, money, and movable property. The specific nature of European feudalism is largely reducible to the fact that from between the 6th and 10th-11th centuries, the only thing of value which anyone possessed in great quantities was land, people became powerful by virtue of possessing land with which to reward the service of allies and soldiers, land was the only source of wealth and power. The relentless subinfeudation was a result of this and of the Germanic custom of dividing more or less equally one's inheritance (read: land, in this period) amongst all of one's sons, in contrast with the later tradition of primogeniture. The revival of commerce preceded the recentralization (by the royal mint alone) of coinage which preceded the establishment of strong monarchies.
Contrast this with the American colonies after their War of Independence...
Don't ignore the details of history just to force it into a preconceived ideological mold. In particular, don't ignore economics.
I recommend Henri Pirenne's Economic and Social History of Europe, though some of the scholarship is obviously outdated and I disagree with his extremely generous characterization of manorial society from the 10th-11th century onwards.

Showdown at the UKrainian Corral.......
Witty!
Ukraine pays half its gas bill to Russia.
All this bullshit over a gas bill?
The issue is NOT over a "gas bill". The issue is whether the U.S.-British Empire will control the entire fucking world. China and Russia are in their way; and so the U.S.-British Empire must eliminate them.
The issue has not changed since the Crimean War.
Exactly
What Jack said....
but I think you already know that...
Battles are Won and Lost long before they're ever fought. My guess is over half the Ukranians will throw-down and go Russian! Watch and Learn...
Not mentioned in the timeline was the Ukrainian call for a UN Peace Keeper Blue Helmet force to be deployed in Eastern Ukraine.
But more importantly, the rumored suggestions that dirty bombs were deployed all over Russia's major cities was completely ignored.
How can you ingnore the possibility of THOUSANDS of Dirty Bombs, 0.1 to 1kg blocks of Plutonium and Uranium wrapped in high explosives, all working their way though out the Russian heartland? Could this be the reason Russia has not yet invaded?
My advice is cancel the vacation to S. Petersburg and Moscow. And stay up wind from these places.
I have no doubt that the twisted junta running the Ukraine is capable of such evil. Of course, they would need the assistance of their CIA and Mossad associates.
You are one evil spawn of Satan for all the mass murders of the good Russian people that you are constantly scheming about and promoting. I am a pacifist by nature but sick fucks like you are almost too much.
Both Russia and China will VETO the use of any U.N. "peacekeepers".
The U.S. government just had its ASS KICKED in Arizona! And, as an American, I am delighted it happened - it is about time the American people stood up fot their rights !!!!
And if the U.S. government thinks it can BLUFF the Russians, well then we will soon see ASS KICKING #2 !!!!
Jack How strong is anti-Kyiv there in Odessa?
I know someone there, but have not been able to reach her to ask this Q..
She is single has daughter and troubled by events.
Every family I know of in Kyiv and area is against and wants the illegal govt kicked....
They tell Kyiv people big majority against and see for what it is..
useless talkings
Send in the transgendered solideresses!
The Australian Army has at least a battalion of those skin-crawl-inducing weirdos by now.
Degenerate and perversity is the new normal.
The POINT that many people seem to be forgetting is that the U.S. government financed the coup in Kiev.
The current situation is the FAULT of the U.S. government; NOT Yanukovitch and NOT Russia.
As an American living in Odessa, Ukraine, I am against the illegitimate post-coup Kiev government and think the ONLY resolution to this crisis is REFERENDUMS in each OBLAST (similar to our states). Undoubtedly these will result in a partition of Ukraine into a northern-western region and a southern-eastern region, with each having total autonomy.
If NOT, I believe a bloody civil war will result, which Russia will feel obligated to stop using its military.

Sure do appreciate your perspective and thoughts! We now have at least 2 illustrious posters with the name Jack.
They're calling Russia's "bluff", see if Russia is willing to escalate and do what they've promised.
Regardless, the question is what are expat Ukrainians thinking?
The only one I know complains about how Russia has basically taken over with sham elections. The expat Russian I know cites how Western influences have caused this whole thing (read talking points we have been seeing).
He said, she said. People have no clue, this is a game for hearts and minds / propaganda for either side and to sow confusion so some people do not act.
Either way, whomever responds it will continue to harden positions and draw more people onto either side of the propaganda lines.
Russian gangs taking over local govt buildings seem to have no opposition and wide public support, zero violence on the Russian side, murder mayhem and violence on the pro EU side.
I have a Ukranaina born female employee in Kiev right now that I just talked to, and she said that her hotel is almost empty and that every one is very ill tempered and pesamistic. She said that the mood there is worse than she thought. On the good side the government agency she is there for is functional and planning the details for a school in training for our anti corruption equipment. There is a problem in other ways in that everyone she meets in the Kiev government is unsure of how to plan for the future. She will be returning to Texas this thursday with pictures from Kiev. Too bad ZH would not let me post these recent Kiev pictures. In general it is not fully safe to walk around central Kiev more than you have to. My employee can speak Ukranian, Russian, and English and has more Kiev stories than can fit into a few minutes of daily phone calls. I will be glad when she returns this thursday.
What is "anti-corruption equipment"? This is meant as an honest question, not to be snarky.
Polygraph equiment to test for public officials with sticky fingers.
Thanks. Maybe it needs to be applied, say, once a month to all members of Congress, the President, White House officials, senior officials in US government departments and the judiciary.
Only congress can investigate itself. Catch 22.
