Watch As Donetsk Locals Stop A Ukraine Tank

Tyler Durden's picture

Something tells us this will not get as much footage as the infamous "tank man" stand off on Tiananmen Square.

We've put Putin into a position where he gets to be the good guy.  He's not going to wander outside out of that role so long as we keep on acting as we keep on acting as we are.

For what it's worth, here is the email I just shot off to the National Editor at the NYT:

Remember the guy who stopped a tank in China? How about posting this clip showing the east Ukrainians talking a Ukrainian army tank commander into stopping his approach to Slavyansk?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDcQTBYY4kE

By the way, this also shows the pitiful condition the Ukrainian army’s tanks are in currently – notice the engine dies a total of four times before the commander shakes hands and shuts it down for good.

Speaking of what arms the pro-democracy forces (those opposed to the illegal CIA-orchestrated neo-Nazi coup in Kiev) have in the east of the Ukraine, note the use of a shoulder-fired SAM to down this Ukrainian helicopter.

You should post this – at least they, unlike the US, are willing to stop the Nazis from returning to power in Europe.

Did those guys steal that fucking tank?  Where did they think they were going, and where were they coming from?  Who is the jackass that ordered them to go somewhere across country under these circumstances, alone, without infantry / security?  OMFG.

And I can't help but notice: Holy Soil Pressure, Batman!  Ah, armor in the spring fields.  Why did the tank commander drive it into a gulley where the soil is even wetter?

I think is T64...

yes is old, but even older T55 was deployed against Georgia and "advisors" and they ran for their lives..

depends who is run it and maintenance...

obviously this tank worn down and not maintained...

crew probably relieved that Lada Niva did not take them out....

Well, all you can do IMO is rate each statement on its own merits without trying to guess motivation or history too much. (Unless they have a long obvious history of being douche bags.)

Most of us know that we can argue and down arrow someone's statements and on the very next topic might agree with them and give them up arrows.

All part of Fight Club.

Duke it out with your buddy in the ring one moment, and drink beers with him the next moment.

Strengthens everyone's logical, argumentative, and persuasion skills. And that's good in these times.

When they come up with b.s., - that's good. Can tear them a new one via your keyboard. And then use what you learn from the experience to inform others.

Tue, 04/15/2014 - 16:44 | 4662623 jefferson32
jefferson32's picture

That's true. But it's also useful to try to spot .gov trolls, since they have admited they use them increasingly. Then nothing prevents you from agreing with a troll once in a while :)

And thus you can see they seem to always use same techniques, following some kind of playbook. For example they use the relativization technique ("it's always been like this", "are you a moron? everyone knows this already", "the other guy is worse", etc.). They also use the scarecrow technique very much ("this is what Sarah Palin says, so you're like her?").

Maybe we can reverse engineer their training manual, and then compare our findings with the copies that will inevitably leak sooner or later :)

@jefferson32 -- good points made

I think the best methods to use, no matter what the source of the b.s., are those that have been around since the ancient Greeks and are well proven.  Gathering of evidence, use of logic to spot inconsistencies, and a sound argument to communicate your views effectively to others. These are also the methods of the Trivium which can be researched on the web.

Sounds like you're familiar with the tools for spotting logical fallacies since you mentioned several of them:

Appeal to tradition, Ad Hominem Attack, combination Strawman argument/Ad Hominem attack, etc

Know these methods and b.s. doesn't stand a chance, and they usually resort to emotionalism which is also easily dealt with.

These methods are taught to the children of the so-called 'elites' in private prep schools. They are not taught in public or most private schools to the majority of the population.

Doesn't matter - - - one can learn them on their own.

answered 4 years ago

Um, if your CAPS LOCK is toggled on and you press SHIFT, the effect is reversed... elementary my dear Watson, and that is if you CANT get it right...pull it off if it's a laptop, it comes off easily but make sure you pull it off kind of perpendicularly to the keyboard... so it doesn't break and then see if there's some rubbish jamming the inner key... if there isn't, well you've got to live with using SHIFT for lower case...

A better alternative is, Launch the Start Menu>All programs>Accessories>Accessibily>On Screen Keyboard and launch it. Once it appears, click the CAPS LOCK button in it and Eureka!
Extremely elementary my dear Watson...

In the US corruption is the norm in terms of law-making in Washington (same in many other countries of course).

The reason our leaders have no incentive to do what’s right for the American people is that our interests are essentially irrelevant to them.  They’re elected with huge campaign contributions from corporate interests, and then, when they’re no longer in office, they often become lobbyists in the industries that they served while in Washington.  As long as this remains the case, we would be very foolish to expect fair-minded, responsible lawmaking to support the true needs of the people.

The first thing to do here, it seems to me, is to overturn the U.S. Supreme Court decision “Citizens United,” which enables corporations to spend as much as they want to influence our elections in whatever direction they choose.

That was the bet of the West. That's why they sent all of their reporters to Kiev hoping to witness formation of pretext for foreign intervention. They know nothing of geography, ethnicity or history. All they know is that countries have borders and capitals - whatever they figure by looking at the world map for 10 seconds.

In reality, the issues are complex, the people are complex and thanks to the internet, its gets harder to spread ignorance and set brothers against eachother. Sure, old tricks still work. Nationalism and patriotism still strike a cord with many, but things are improving.

I mean, look at all the bankers "offing themselves". If that's the case then we ought to be doing something right. Let's raise that record to 100 bankers a month and then we'll be on the right track.

With each unanswered provocation, whith each shell not fired, there's somebody head's waiting to get chopped off, a sour bet, a failed investment, a lost gamble, an underwarter leveraged deal, a stale HFT algo... and eventually a dead banker who failed to set his designated MIC gear in motion.

a few factoids: the EU legislated a banker bonus cap. GS is based in the US. the EU is centralization of a select number of policy fields

and I doubt you understand what "technocrat" really means. again, is the current Italian PM a technocrat?

you take the super-centralized example of the current US, which has gone beyond federalism into near-unitary state and compare it with a proto-confederation like the EU, where power, military, intelligence, etc. still mostly resides in the nation-state

No, on an individual basis it is not.  The problem is the individual will pay for bad decisions where the bank, corporation or union gets bailed out and is in effect rewarded for their poor decisions.  This is where the system goes awry and as long as we allow the same people to stay in charge throgh each confilct/financial crisis we can not expect our conditions to change.

has the sovereign debt that Greece loaded up anything to do with it's EU membership?

No, but it has a lot to do with the EU itself, and the entities it is allied with.

tell me, would Greece exiting EU and/or NATO in any way estinguish that debt?

Actually it would, because then they would also be rejecting the autonomy of central bankers over the finances of their country through their more local counterparts. Whether it would be moral or not, and whether it is the fault of the Greek people who chose to live beyond their means is a different issue.

No sh!t. There are still WAY too many people that actually believe "democratically elected" politicians are actually representing the people's interests, that their party is better than the other party & falling for the classic divide & conquer propaganda used by controllers for millennia. They usually also think the actions of these elected goons & the total sum of the government's actions is completely the fault of the people who also totally agree with everything they do & therefore the debt of their government is on them to repay. When reality is most don't agree with most of their government's actions & none agree with the vast debt. There are many who agree with the programs that create this debt, but most only support these because of the propaganda pushed through a virtual monopoly of media outlets by the same controllers who work with or are owned by the banksters & the fed. If the people were educated on the deceitful conspiring goings on of the super rich, the way most nation's monetary systems are run & how they use this economic control to blackmail & bribe politicians they would surely not feel these government programs worthy. But the brainwashing & bribery has run so deep that it has become a self fulfilling prophecy. Weather you're on welfare or you work for any number of redundant useless government agencies, both will fight tooth & nail to keep their meal ticket rolling in no matter if it will eventually doom them & their children along with the rest of the world to serfdom as a debt slave.

The US press exists for pure propaganda.  Tiananmen Square reflected badly on the Chinese and made the front page of every US newspaper.  The Donetsk standoff reflects well on the courage of Russians who want some measure of autonomy from Kiev.  So this will be blacked out in US media as were all stories by Seymour Hersh about Obama lying about sarin in Syria.  The New York Times adamantly refused to carry the story that the NSA hands over all data it collects on Americans over to Israel without any legal restrictions.

Tracerfan, your "unelected neo-Nazi regime in Kiev" is quite unfactual

independently from any partisanship in the matter, the current previously elected parliament appointed the current government in Kiev

and no, if you study the cabinet composition, you'll find plenty of former ministers, a few technical appointees (aka technocrats, for example the career diplomat that is the acting foreign minister), and no neo-Nazis

The parliament appointed them at gun point of the Neofascists. Nearly 100 people were killed by western backed snipers.   And they didn't have the constitutional right to do that anyway.  If the elected president was so unpopular with the parliament, why did they not simply impeach him?

independently from any partisanship in the matter

Thanks valkir. This from Google Translate:

"The Pentagon acknowledged that imitation Su-24 attack on the U.S. Navy destroyer produced a demoralizing effect on the crew. 27 crew members of the destroyer filed resignation. Commenting on their actions, they said they did not intend to expose their lives to danger.

The Pentagon on Monday issued a statement in which he asserts that the Russian Su-24 bomber on Saturday flew several times near the U.S. Navy destroyer Donald Cook in the Black Sea and at the same time several times simulated combat attack.

According to the agency Reuter Pentagon spokesman Col. Steven Warren, twelve times a Russian bomber flew at low altitude near the U.S. destroyer. He called these maneuvers frightening and unacceptable, as it demoralizes the staff of the ship and the negative impact on the general psychological climate in the military.

Warren noted that the destroyer patrolled the waters of the Black Sea in the west, when the incident occurred. According to him, the ship is safe in the Romanian port, where he was immediately evacuated. Members of the crew are necessary procedures psychologist to recover after suffering stress.

"Donald Cook" - third in a row, U.S. Navy ship that was sent to the Black Sea for the last time. Earlier, the U.S. had already sent into the waters of the sea missile frigate Taylor, but the ship ran aground off the Black Sea coast of Turkey, because of what was not able to continue to fulfill its mission.

According to international maritime treaties American ships could not located in the Black Sea for more than 14 days, and the excess of this period gives the legal right to make a Russian missile attack ships and destroy data, without declaring war, the United States. Knowing about such a possibility, the crew members and commanders American ships naturally fear for their lives. Although the Pentagon promised to raise the sums insured servicemen from 1 ppm. to 3 ppm., it is still very few people quiet as to survive in the open sea, and then get the insurance payment few chances, but the dead do not need money.

In consequence of this crew "Donald Cook" was forced to sail to the shortage of personnel, and the dismissal of 27 other crew members, behind which may be followed by others, jeopardizes the continued successful execution of the task."

There are no links to where this article got its information so I am skeptical for now.
