The tank appears to be a part of the earlier blockade of Slavyanks by Ukranians. It doesn't look like they 'stopped him' as the Youtube description states, since his orders were apparently to block the road. But that brings up an interesting point - how good was he at blocking if people chased him right and left?
The guy at the end of that video looked young. Perhaps they just don't want to fuck with the general population, whether its because he has a conscience or he doesn't want to be the guy that kicks off a war. It would be interesting to see how the video started.
Chances are it's someone's dashboard camera taken off when the cameraman came across the blockade on his way to or out of Slavyanks. (russians use those for insurance purposes, as you probably have gathered from the multitude of the car wreck videos in russia)
Ukranian military has been very disciplined so far in not provoking the conflict, but who knows what will happen as Slavyansk populace has been armed with guns and RPGs in the last few days and at least a portion of them are angry pro-russia protesters.

Something will. I've dug into some of the shit leading up to that. Bundy used what fundamentally amounts to a 10th amendment argument against the BLM. Had he wanted to win in court, he should have been prepared to use a 14th amendment argument and fight it out over 10 years in very intensive litigation. Courts flat out do not uphold the 10th amendment. Another rancher in NV had similar shit happen to him and used the 14th amendment argument, and the court, for the most part, found for the rancher. It is an extraordinarily complex piece of litigation, but in one of the several rulings, the judge concluded this:
Bundy fucked up on the litigation when he argued that BLM doesn't own the land on constitutional grounds.
Unfortunately, as exemplified at Waco, it is up to the 7.62 amendment.
Obama needs a good domestic massacre to keep up with the Clintons. Holder's got just the right experience for the cover up. All these western cowboys are terrorists anyway--although we better make sure no pics get out of us shooting them off horses. The image people say that will be a tough image to spin.
Obama can order the massacre and then hold a beer summit for the survivors.

aren't they usually part of a larger unit, battalion, division whatever? did this particular tank crew take a wrong turn somewhere, and if so how does that happen? i mean it was broad daylight, how hard is it to follow the tank in front of you while the sun is still up? did anybody else even notice?

I find it hard to believe they would have been tasked somewhere on there own, tanks are tough but without support there are plenty of low tech ways to knock the tracks off them.
come to think of it, the Ukrainian military "anti-terrorist operation" doesn't seem to be off to what you would call a fast start and maybe this is why...
