NATO To Boost Air, Warship Presence Around Russia; Netherlands May Deploy F-16s To Ukraine
If there is was one way to assure a certain escalation in Ukraine hostilities beyond what has already happened, it is for NATO to do precisely what Russia warned it should not do: build up its presence in the surrounding countries. Which is why we find it somewhat puzzling that NATO announced it would do just this when as the Guardian reported, the military alliance said it would step up its presence around Russian borders to "reassure eastern European member states."
The reinforcements on Nato's eastern flank will take the form of more air patrols over the Baltic states, greater numbers of warships in both the Baltic and eastern Mediterranean, and more troops deployed in eastern Europe.
The Nato buildup will also involve the redeployment of warships, some of them now participating in counter-piracy operations off Somalia, to the Baltic and the Mediterranean. A Nato official said the details of the naval measures were still being discussed.
The Nato commander in Europe, General Philip Breedlove, said several Nato member states had offered ground troops for deployment in eastern European member states and that he would be soon making recommendations on how they should be positioned. Breedlove said that the situation represented more than a crisis, adding: "For Nato, it's bigger than that. It's a paradigm shift."
It goes without saying that to Russia this will be seen as a hostile move on behalf of the western countries, which is why Breedlove said "he had attempted to call the Russian chief of general staff, Valery Gerasimov, to explain that the deployments were entirely defensive but had not been able to reach him."
Did he at least leave a voicemail explaining why the piling up of new troops is not to be seen as an offensive meneuver?
Furthermore, that this is happening today is no accident: tomorrow is the official start of international talks on the Ukrainian crisis in Geneva, and the NATO action is a way to increase pressure on Moscow. However, as has been seen repeatedly in the past month, the Kremlin does not handly increased pressure easily and instead, usually finds a way to re-escalate on its own.
What is the thinking behind what can only be classified as a short-sighted move? "A spokesperson for the US secretary of state, John Kerry, said his primary goal was to persuade Moscow to halt its destabilising activities in eastern Ukraine, and call publicly for separatist groups to disarm and stand down."
And just in case NATO's open action is not clear, "EU officials in Brussels said the list of Russians subject to visa bans and asset freezes would be expanded by the end of the week. The US state department also signalled it would co-ordinate a further tightening of sanctions with its European partners, but not before the Geneva talks."
"Don't expect any before tomorrow's meetings," Marie Harf, deputy spokesperson at the state department, said. "But if there are not steps taken by Russia to de-escalate, we will take additional steps, including additional sanctions."
The negotiations will bring together Kerry, his Russian counterpart, Sergei Lavrov, the Ukrainian foreign minister, Andrii Deshchytsia, and the EU's Ashton. It will mark the first time the quartet has met since the Ukrainian crisis erupted in February.
In addition to one four-way encounter, Kerry will conduct separate bilateral meetings with Lavrov, Deshchytsia and Ashton. Western officials, however, cautioned that the talks were unlikely to bring a diplomatic breakthrough.
Harf said that "top of the list" of US demands would be that Russia halt what the US alleges are destabilising activities in eastern Ukraine. The US wants Russia to publicly call on separatists exerting control in cities in eastern Ukraine to disarm and stand down.
Of course, in case Russia also misses all of this because nobody could reach the Russian chief of staff on the phone, the Netherlands announced it is looking into the deployment of F16 fighter jets as Ukraine crisis air support "to try and ease the conflict around Ukraine, defence minister Jeanine Hennis told a television talk show on Tuesday night.
While there is no question of Nato military action against Russia, ‘we want to be very visible as support to our Eastern allies’, the minister told the Pauw & Witteman show.
With orange colored F-16s it will be very difficult not to be visible:
The defence minister added: "We are looking at how we can increase our air support or sea support in, say, the Baltic or the Black Sea region,’ she said. ‘We are members of an alliance for a reason and we will take our responsibilities.'Asked specifically what form Dutch air support could take, the minister said 'it could mean sending an F16.'
Surely the expansion of NATO forces in the region will promptly force Russia to back down. In the off chance it doesn't, one wonders how NATO will respond if Russia instead adds some more tactical nukes to its arsenal along the Polish border. Puredly defensively of course. Will that, in turn, force NATO to back down? Somehow we doubt it.

The west is hell-bent on war.
The US leadership is hoping this will be a replay of wwII to which it can survive intact whilst Europe bears the brunt. The US military leaders knows better and that's why Dempsey has been mum about it.
Now more than ever it is time to love each other and ourselves, for it is the only way to stop this madness.
Are you suggesting that masturbation will solve this mess?
Already doin' my part...
lmao...since you've got the loving youself part covered, I'm going to join the fray - Now, I'm heading over to RussianBrides.com
Has Russia really calculated what their cost is going to end up being, if, let's say they hypothetically get these countries back? There are at least half if not more of the citizens that want nothing to do with Russia. There will be riots, protests and destruction for years. It may not ever stop. Putin better be careful for what he wishes for.
Dude he is not going to take over Kiev and their massive debt obligations. He will just take the jewels, like Odessa, south ukraine with connections to Crimea for power watera and gas, and east Ukraine with the key industrial manufacturing base of engines and missiles etc...
He will leave Eastern Ukraine and Kiev with all the debt obligations and the high gas bills, kind of like the EU just bought itself a really used LADA for 35 billion dollars.
Dudet, you call that little sliver of land between Moldova and the Ukraine Eastern? Russia may pretend to back down after they gain control of Eastern Ukraine, but make no mistake, Russia feels threatened. This is far from being over. I had a lot of sympathy for Russia at first, but now I am feeling that we should punch him in the nose and then ask him if wants to continue.
You will make perfect cannon fodder when you enlist.
Cheerleader with pom-poms more likely.
Fuck every bit of that shit, range rider.
I ain't going. Nope. Rather pick a fight right fucking here.
"He will leave Eastern Ukraine and Kiev"
Western Ukraine?
I think he only wants the peasants with bushy eyebrows AND who cross themselves right-to-left, the ones with bushy eyebrows that go the other way he doesn't want. Another Imaginary-Friend dispute.
and i only want the female peasants
Under 30...with razors.
Putin sure know how to deal with dissent, being a former KNVD, MCD, FSA, KGB...
Any amount of posturing cannot change the fact that Eastern Ukraine wishes to remain within the Russian orbit of economic and cultural security.
Keeping the nation together will mean an entirely new election process with representative government and without outside influences. Otherwise, civil war or a split between East and West. However, West Ukraine would become a ward of the EU which they cannot afford without selling (monetizing ) resources and farmland to the highest bidder.
The choice is clear
No. Half of Eastern Ukraine (maybe not half) want to rejoin Russia. Why can't they just move back to Russia?
Why can't West Ukrainians move to EU?
The EU wants hard assets they can leverage into loans, people are a dime a dozen, EU can have as many as they want, it's real assets that the EU needs, not people, people are a liability.
The Soviet Union collapsed because they were unwilling or incapable of putting up any additional assets so their credit line was cut off.
They've learned.
why to EU? It is Vitoria Nulland fault, so they must move to USA and Israel.
uhh...maybe because they've actually lived on these lands for centuries??? It's like the Zionists scumbags telling the Palestinians to go live in some other Arab country since these lands "belong" to Jews.
Like Bundy ?
"Why can't they just move back to Russia?"
They would move with their houses and their lands to Russia. Otherwise where is their added premium value for Putin?
gee I WONDER WOUlD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE DUTCH KING AND QUEEN ARE MEMBERS OF THE BILDERBURG GROUP.
All-caps make your claims more true.
He's Irish, ergo drunk; drunken Irishmen are usually shouting.
gee I WONDER WOUlD THIS HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE FACT THAT THE DUTCH KING AND QUEEN ARE MEMBERS OF THE BILDERBURG GROUP.
So, seemingly in the name of freedom and democracy, there's to be a pow-wow between Kerry (whom I don't recall the US population voting for), Deshchytsia that only the banksters voted for, Ashton who no-one at all ever voted for (ex-hospital administrator fer chrissakes...), and Lavrov (Russian) who actually appears to have been voted-for.
Who the hell gave the utterly corrupt, unelected, totalitarian EU a seat at the party anyway?
The EU will be stuck with the remains of the Ukrain and their debt so we earned (going to) that seat.
Galicia was part of Austro-Hungary Empire since the tragic partition of Poland.

NATO? Neato!
Is this the same NATO that ran out of bombs in their epic war against Libya?
That's the one. Bombed a Chinese Embassy, some Pakistanis. A hospital too. Oh, and Kosovo - that was a hoot. Blue caps, bloody dangerous.
No doubt supported by the US navy (don't forget to take some spare jerry cans this time, eh?). And the Brits (yeah, we've sent a single submarine, lookout bitches!). Also bright fucking orange jets.
What could possibly go wrong?
Most assuredly, everything.
Doesn't inspire, does it?
(blue caps are UN, I know, I know. but all of that other shit is true. and bright fucking orange jets.)
I'm not sure that I needed to see a live performance of 'Dr. Strangelove' before I died.
It should be entertaining as long as the lights stay on.
If it means all those dirty bastards are going too then at least I'll be fucking smiling. That's how I learned to stop worrying and love the bomb.

So long as my precious bodily fluids remain intact...I'm ok with it.
perhaps, here we could see a ruskie major Kong riding something big and bright.
I flash on Dr. Strangelove every time I see "Breedlove." Do we walk out of the movie theatre at the end, or is this the REAL thing?
You forgot the cock on cock rainbow brigade obama will be sending

Look US air losses Vietnam..
and that top ace of war was a North Vietnamese....
I think I read that...
But we had the top reverse ace.
Ventura?
...unless he was really a Russian....
These idiots have no idea what they're getting into. I have a very strong suspicion that Putin desires to shoot down something "modern" in the NATO arsenal with some cutting edge Russian military tech. It would be a certainly be an interesting way to start off the summer Arms Dealing season...
Who has money that would be in the market for Russian military goods?
Mali? Fiji?
The Americans should shoot down the old F-16 jets made in 1978. Blame it on the Russian and say Europe needs to buy more of our top notch F-22 fighters.
Can't. They spent 20 years and billions of dollars to develop the F-22, then cancelled it and disassembled the production line, so they could spend another 20 years and hundreds of billions to develop the F-35 at a higher unit cost with 1/4th the capabilities.
are they nuts ?
deploying NATO forces to Ukraine means WW3
Neither side can win, and escallation ends up in Tactical Nukes which end up in "Use it or lose it" ICBMs. So, nothing will happen except increased expenditures on military.
If you look for the characteristic which Nassim Taleb call the "Anti-fragile", will you find it more prevalent in Russia or in the US and EU??
So which society has a better chance of actually pulling through a nuclear exchange with some semblance of success??
WW1 was a full success.
WW2 was their best business ever.
Sheeple since 1945 have been supporting them.
Why do you think, they were nuts?
"deploying NATO forces to Ukraine means WW3"
They are not deploying them to Ukraine but some Eastern European members of the alliance.
Vlad takes Eastern Ukraine, then Poland, Estonia etc will start to freak. That's why, it's all about Poland. Study your history.
As for Putin's master play...

the minister said 'it could mean sending an F16.' Um, I might be missing something but wouldn't one take that comment to mean one measley orange F16! Just sayin! I bet Pooty Poot is pissing his pants about that!
I do have a question: We all know about Barry saying he would have more flexibility after the election to Putin, does anyone have a clue what the other side of the conversation was?
Um, I might be missing something but wouldn't one take that comment to mean one measley orange F16!
grasshopper it is written in the ancient long schlong scriptures that your enemies numbers are not important.
no matter how outnumberd you are always be fearless.
laugh at the thousands of enemies ranged against you.

When Nato says they're going it simply means they'll fight to the last.........................American.
Those RuAF Su-27, operating out of home bases with BVR missiles are pretty potent in air to air.
Typical POS armchair guy reading too much Jane Defence. What a FUCKING joke.
Potent? How about IMPOTENT instead.
You have NEVER spent a day in combaagainst these crude weapons. Ask your mom if the cookies are ready
"You have NEVER spent a day in combaagainst these crude weapons."
WTF is "combaagainst?"
Look out, he's got a "gub!"
Can you give us a link to anything about the RuAF Su-27 with BVR missles? I've never heard of them ever being used anywhere. Is that something from the 1970's?
A generic term for beyond visual range...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BVR
You mean the Russians also can shoot missles that cannot exceed the visual range of the pilot?
What is the code name for these other missles... ROCKS?
rabble turned to cannon fodder
"an".
peak full retard. srsly.
No matter what any of us think about this mess, please do not underestimate the ability of these pilots or these planes. These are not Soviet floggers
You can`t be serious (as John McEnroe used to say). One Dutch F-16?
But, but... he's their TOP GUN.

Isnt it better for the Dutch to lend/give some money to pay Ukraine gas bill? Now send war planes to kill is not help.
Jeez, why not just paint a "shoot me" sign on that thing? They'd have been better off painting it dayglo pink to try and blind the gunner's eyes.
And notice how they say "an F-16" as in 1 of them, which would be the whole of the Dutch air force's inventory of operational combat aircraft.
It's a distraction. I think that had they painted a porno picture on it it would have been a bit too obvious...
NATO must be under orders to ratchet up the tension in the hope Putin will do summat stupid.
Damn! I swear that dude standing on the street corner looks like Gavrilo Princip.
BOHICA
the Netherlands, another client/sucker state in the global ponzi scheme. Of course they have to "do something" to please their masters. This gesture will earn the Hague a few extra brownie points & a pat on the head. So utterly pathetic you fucking Serfs.
Let me explain something to you. I haven't met ONe single living breathing warm-blooded Nederlander who espoused a favorable opinion of the European Union as an expansionary centralized state with overriding legislative authority. I haven't met a single Nederlander who wanted to deploy troops to Iraq or Afghanistan I support of the GWOT. A referendum to join the EU was DEFEATED in holland by a almost 2 to 1. I asked my friend, who worked for the Immigratie Dienst as a lawyer how the fuck Holland got saddled with 1 million Moroccans, she told me it was "treaty obligations."
The extent to which INTERNATIONAL organizations are determining the domestic policies of European countries far beyond what the population will stomach cannot be overstated. In short, so-called "democracy" is long fucking dead, so don't come on here spouting illiterate fucking garbage slagging off people who are just as trapped in their own political nightmare as you are.
Oh no,didn't anyone tell them about the S400,the greatest weapon system known to mankind ? Sarc/ you guys are a bunch of dumb fucks, wanna buy a bridge ?
I'm Confused, Can Anyone Help Me?
By Neil Clark
April 16, 2014
I'm confused. A few weeks ago we were told in the West that people occupying government buildings in Ukraine was a very good thing. These people, we were told by our political leaders and elite media commentators, were 'pro-democracy protestors'.
The US government warned the Ukrainian authorities against using force against these 'pro-democracy protestors' even if, according to the pictures we saw, some of them were neo-Nazis who were throwing Molotov cocktails and other things at the police and smashing up statues and setting fire to buildings.
Now, just a few weeks later, we're told that people occupying government buildings in Ukraine are not 'pro-democracy protestors' but 'terrorists' or 'militants'.
Why was the occupation of government buildings in Ukraine a very good thing in January, but it is a very bad thing in April? Why was the use of force by the authorities against protestors completely unacceptable in January, but acceptable now? I repeat: I'm confused. Can anyone help me?
http://www.informationclearinghouse.info/article38248.htm
Complete Idiots, this is how millions of people end up dead, small brained Politicians striding around with their huge ego's thinking their shit does not smell. Simple minds thinking that if they do ABC the other side would never dare do DEF, and so the escalation goes, each side daring the other side like a children's game until the bodies start piling up. Even then its never your fault, its always the other sides fault, after all our sudden decision to massively increase our forces right on your border was purely defensive, you can't blame us, nah, nah, nah, all your fault.
World wars start because of the child like actions and words of Politicians who to be fair have no intention of ever putting themselves or their wives and children at risk but think nothing in their child like glee of escalating a situation to the point where millions of other peoples wives and children are killed......of course the body count is never their fault.
Welcome to peak Western hypocrisy.
And our illuminated leaders wonder why so many of us have completely lost all trust and confidence in them.
The rest of the World hate us not because of our FREEDOM, but of our HYPOCRISY
Agreed, very likely.
And let's not forget that hypocrisy was invented in Britain. They've had centuries to refine it into an art form.
Mood swings?
Trying to restart a cold war by playing with hardware may be a really good way to get a much warmer temperature than intended.
People should give some serious attention to trusting their kids lives to these neo-con think tank geniuses.
The only thing they seem to consistently get right is underestimating their erstwhile opponents resolve not to be bullied.
Yes, Kerry, Obama etc, are convinced all they need to do is bully someone enough and they will give in, they are wrong, but it always takes a heavy body count before they decide that maybe talking might be better, of course their family and friends are never part of the body count, rinse and repeat for the next crisis.
Do not be concerned, our president has his" going away" plans well in hand. This President and his Secretary of state don't have plans per se, just jestures to impress NATO/and Russia that he is serious....... for now anyway. Yes, we have problems, serious problems. They involve a carrier and escort ships to convince Vlad that the USA is dangerous as hell. In the meanwhile EU forces assigned to NATO know the US President is not a fighting man even when he should be. Be nervous, Bery's bluff is about to be called.
"In the meanwhile EU forces assigned to NATO know the US President is not a fighting man even when he should be."
Spoken like a true warmonger. You'll make fine cannon fodder...
Russia can thank God (all those Russians who actually believe in God) that the West has a U.S. President that couldn't organize a boy scout troop. If Obie ever does grow a pair (a huge "if") and the West decides that the Russian bear needs to see the folly of simply running in and taking over territory it deems appropriate for it's own selfish reasons then it's Game On. I know the Russians on this website hate to hear it but the U.S. + it's allies can roll the Russian military up for a lot of reasons starting with vastly superior equipment and more war-fighting experience. I DO NOT want to see this thing go hot but Putin will not stop pushing until the West pushes back.....preferably in a non-military way. Smart military moves like building a missile defense shield which Putin definitely doesn't want to see built may be in order if things keep going the way they are now.
Sure worked great on those cave dwellers in Afghanistan.
Or the jungle dwellers in Vietnam...
so many words so little sense......
who is doing what to whom.... again...... cochise
It's all well and good for Nato to send planes and troops wherever they like but they should do so with the understanding there will be no going home again all those bases haliburton et al have been so busy building on the US printing presses tab .... smoking holes in the ground, the bases from which they came smoking holes in the ground they eurostumps ...... well to paraphrase Oprah you get a bomb!! you get a bomb!!! you get a bomb!!! everybody in our fucked up studio audience gets a bomb!!! ABM that motherfucker!!!
I got a red line for you to cross .............Thank you for Playing kick the bear in the nuts you Eurotard dips hits.
Now take your jungle bunny and get the fuck off the lawn!!
Check Aircraft losses Vietnam...look those numbers closely..
And that top aces of war were Vietnamese in Migs.
And that top aces of war were Vietnamese in Migs.
Unless the were actually Soviets flying them...
And that.
US pilots rotated through the war on 1yr tours. The commies pilots fought for the duration of the war. What's your point?
When Russians fight a war, every man, woman, and child pitches in. We need to stay out of this. Stalin's Siberian hordes are still there....
Interesting bio I must say.
You know nothing about Siberia....
I am glad you said it. I doubt many here really know what Russia is like or how Russians think much less have an American born son who speaks perfect Russian and only a smattering of English. Our child is going to have a Russian accent and he was born right here in Minnesota. Sorry about that but what is anyone going to do about it?
check out the jeff harman interview on veritas radio from jan 9. he thinks the shit is
going to hit the fan here. we will see. i am not getting a good feeling about this
whole thing.
When you confront a bully and psycho-Princess like Putin then you MUST present a wall of force, not gutless half measures. Weak action merely begs further escalation.
This shitty US president is finally employing a strategy that will bring peace and stop further escalation. I guess we can feel grateful for this. Meanwhile I advise Ukraine to continue its action toward having a more robust response plan including dirty bombs in Russian cities.
Fail.
Spoken like a true Waffen SS man.
Or a fucktard.
or like Kerry:
“It’s really 19th century behavior in the twenty-first century,” Kerry said of Putin ordering Russian military forces to move into Ukraine.
“You just don’t invade another country on phony pretexts in order to assert your interests,” he said.
Fucking vomit. Pure Kerry puke. Chicken hawk mother fucker. Absolute hipocracy.
Not to defend the bastard, but at least Kerry had his tippy toes in a war, unlike the record of the lot from the previous administration.
But, the Kerry quote above is quite priceless. I'd love to see him in court trying to defend that one.
Idgit.
Dirty bombs? Perhaps delivered in person by nv and his shitty president with suicide vests?
Please show me your post about russia killing ALL those people in chechnya and Georgia. If you cannot produce the same colorful language regarding Bush then please refrain from your hypocrisy.
As expected a war would become handy to turn the focus away from the broken world economy. While all news still make good news fundamentals are constantly grumbling. The classic getaway trick is a war and after a mass destruction a "sound economic growth" takes off and one more vicious circle is complete and people happily forgotten the core issue like many times before.
War is about the friction of struggles for resrouces, always the case.
The magic of the war trick is that it suppresses consumption. It's like coitus interruptus. Once the distraction is over the wad gets shot...
Destroying things so you can rebuild. Works for folks like Haliburton...
"'Asked specifically what form Dutch air support could take, the minister said 'it could mean sending an F16.' "
one's enough. no way putin shoots down a dutch plane.
everybody knows that. so, the announcement is simply a continuation of the mutually understood 'nobody shoots anybody'.
today the people of ukraine let all know that they will not kill themselves for either putin nor the eurousa.
putin will have no choice but to withdraw his thug-troops from the government bldgs. (the ukrainians can just let them sit there. forever.)
embarrassing as it is, all are concerned about a graceful exit. hence the soft words.
the ukrainians will decide, in short order, to form that federation russia said it wanted.
and chose to stay as ukraine, in federation form. crimea, a section of old ukraine, will have been absconded into the depth of the putinczar, together with its annual need of over $ 1 billion, er, rubles, that it got from the old ukraine.
nice move putin czar.
not.
:)
p.s.
time will tell.
:)
useless talkings you're all over the place...
uh, so far, as time is telling, the sequence and substance is spot on.
" a continuation of the mutually understood 'nobody shoots anybody'."
"putin will have no choice but to withdraw his thug-troops from the government bldgs. (the ukrainians can just let them sit there. forever.)"
hmmm.....let's see...oh yeah, that's part of the meat of the agreement they just reached in geneva.
"the ukrainians will decide, in short order, to form that federation russia said it wanted."
lookin that way, the federation part for sure.
anyway....
time wil tell.
:)
Ok, if this story is real, there is no way Putin lets this go... Its just anuther Obummer red line to step over.
Now this is funny.
http://www.activistpost.com/2014/04/even-us-government-will-abandon-doll...
What a dufas
Hand-waving at a hurricane...
All is a charade. We're humans. We're running out of resources. "Better currencies" doesn't fix that: I recognize that it's a step toward being more honest, but in the face of survival deception is essential- trust and honesty are going to necessarily become, on the whole, less meaningful.
Just reporting on what I See.
The Ukrainians have apparenty started to unload some rounds today. Two confirmed shooting incidents and several dead and 15+ wounded amoung pro Russian protestors. On the plus side, a significant number of Ukrainian troops defected to Russian side, and many others were convinced to turn around and leave when confronted by crowds of civilians demanding who they planned to shoot. Lots of Youtube evidence, clearly too obvious to be fakes.
Todays action is a clear win for the pople of East Ukraine. Yulia is screaming bloody murder and calling for all Right Sector to arm themselves and move east to kill the 8 million. The gas queen is off her fuck'n head! Bitch carries a cane now.
NATO threw the dice and hoped for a big win, right now Vlad and the Russian people of East Ukraine are kicking NATO's ass for drill. It must be so fucking humiliating for NATO big commanders that they are freaking out! Vlad, as always, is cool, calm and collected. That Dutch F-16 should buzz Karkov and see if any S-400's are on the border districts. Ha! Ha! The first videos out of Russia at the start of the crisis showed the S-400's moving up by night. Several TOR-M2 were spotted as well. By now the entire East Ukraine is covered by in depth S-300 for easy targets and S-400 awaits any NATO move.
"several dead and 15+ wounded" even this is too much. Ukraine dont need to come to this. Who`s fault, Vitoria Nulland?
....significant number of Ukrainian troops defected to Russian side...
Expect a whole lot more of that.
NATO's demise was only ever a matter of time. Who knows, perhaps this is a setup to abolish it? US is clearly losing its ability to afford the costs of playing the world's policeman.
Putin/Russia has advantage in that it's all in their backyard. Supply-line advantage. And, they actually have the ability to "supply" (oil): as well as to "not supply" (turn down the taps).
The Soviet Union lost 30,000,000 people in World War II. Russia is not going to lose the next 30,000,000.
Will the Dutch F-16 be painted pink... just to piss Putin off?
and so the end game marches toward it's inevitable conclusion.
I wonder, how will those who so suddenly rose to power in Kiev feel when they finally realize they have been played for fools, that they were only ever a means to an end? perhaps they should have paid more attention to recent history.
when the wolf hears the sheep in distress he comes among them...
but not to help.
to NATO the Ukraine was never a country.
it was always just an excuse, an engineered opportunity that is now ripe to be exploited.
Washington speaks of diplomacy and peace through their forked tongues, while instigating war.
ah, but when you make a deal with the devil only the worst kind of useful idiot expects him to keep his word.
"competition is a sin" as Rockefeller said, and Russia? well, they have become very competitive indeed and the western PTB's will suffer no false idols before them. the thing is it hardly matters anymore who Vladimir Putin really is, good guy, bad guy, hero, villain, the last line of defense against the NWO or ego driven former KGB officer who wants to see the glory of the old empire restored.
maybe the truth lies somewhere in the middle, or perhaps what he is depends on where you stand, on what one is comparing him to.
one thing is very clear the evil we know so well here in the states appears to be hell bent on his, and Russia's destruction even if they have to destroy the Ukraine and start world war 3 to do it.
+1000, well said
Or maybe he just longs to be understood...
There are some pretty strong pro and con comments on this thread.
Yet no one knows the absolute truth to all of this.
However, if people in the west can't agree on what to do or who is the evil instigator, why take a side at all as in the end it will come home and people will end up killing each other and forgot the reason why they are fighting at all. Remeber what happened at Berkley over a war many of the troops didn't know why they were fighting except the enemy were 'commies', whatever that means nowadays.
War isn't like a tv show or movie folks.
Sure, talk is cheap. We talk nukes and such, but it's an economic war that is really going on. If the US doesn't actually have the gold they are supposed to have in the places they won't let anyone check up on, then the US loses the economic war. Let's hope the loser doesn't resort to nukes.
Apparently gold is a better radiation shield than lead.

A cornered animal is the most dangerous...
The ECB, Federal Reserve and JCBbanksters are feeling threatened by Russia.
Time for Putin to send the banksters a load of nail guns so they kill themselves. Putin needs to kill the western currencies with BRICS.
DOW -135pts on the first nuke droped. Care to bet?
With any luck the DOW will be rendered offline when the nukes fly.
Ohhhh - the Dutch are sending ONE F-16! Bright orange yet. But not to worry - the Dutch army quartermaster has just issued 100,000 bicycles and the the troops are peddling eastward as we speak. Stopping for frequent breaks of course. And holding meetings every six hours to decide on the route they should take.
A least it flies.
Last time Russia ventured to invade someone - Georgia - nearly 35% of military equipment didn't make it there, forcing Russian forces to abandon it on the wayside, so that it doesn't block roads. Tanks, transporters, helicopters and jets from the 70s with substandard built quality and poor regular maintenance (and untrained soldiers) are OK when the target is 20 times smaller than you, but not good for anything else. Russians were lucky they didn't see much resistance, otherwise it would have been an Afganistan 2.0 - a bottomless pit that swallowed all remaining resources of the invading country.
Bullshit... Russian Forces took over attack very outnumbered....Georgia and "advisors" fielded newer and supposedly better equipment...ended dropping new M4s and other and hightail retreat back to Tblishi...
Russia sent not even latest upgrade of T72 to even old T55 and T64...
Georgia T72 were equipped with more modern firecontrol provided by "orange" Ukraine....also some 200 Ukrainians including at least one female sniper killed confirmed and another claimed by Osseians. Many of these veteransamong the rightwing of Ukraine now.
Vostok and Zapad Battalions Chechen with few t64 tanks arrived, when shock reached Georgians, there was panick...even though they were five times as many and twice tanks with T72
Russia controlled much more of Afghanistan than US...Former Afghan Commanders that fought both tell the Russians were better soldier and only "one face" while US stay near base, wear raybans and "ten faces" and will not come to mountains and fight...never ventured into much of country. much less controlled...
More US taxpayers resources "swallowed' by many tens of times...
You know nothing about these subjects.
Didn't the Georgians abandon many of these upgraded T72s in fear? Europe will need an army. I doubt any Americans will want to get involved. There will be a firestorm in America. Obama and Bush with their endless wars have destroyed the US military.
Europe does not really have an army unless the Poles volunteer and I think the Poles will know they are being used. The Brits military has been endlessly downsized to pay for Islamic and African "asylum seekers" endless benefits.
No soldiers
No war
We're all human.
