Here Come The Boots On The Ground: US Troops Heading To Eastern Europe

Tyler Durden's picture

It seems the truce "deal" is well and truly dead...

  • 600 U.S. TROOPS HEADING TO EUROPE FOR EXERCISES: PENTAGON
  • U.S. AIRBORNE TROOPS GOING TO POLAND, LITHUANIA, LATVIA,ESTONIA
  • U.S. MILITARY EXERCISES ARE IN RESPONSE TO UKRAINE CRISIS:KIRBY
  • MORE MILITARY EXERCISES 'COMING THROUGH' NATO: PENTAGON

The question now, of course, is - what will Putin do in response to this action?

As for where these troops may be arriving from the answer is simple: that other US military intervention success story - Afghanistan. From Reuters:

The number of U.S. troops in Afghanistan may drop well below 10,000 - the minimum demanded by the U.S. military to train Afghan forces - as the longest war in American history winds down, Obama administration officials briefed on the matter say.

Since Afghanistan's general election on April 5, White House, State Department and Pentagon officials have resumed discussions on how many American troops should remain after the current U.S.-led coalition ends its mission this year.

The decision to consider a small force, possibly less than 5,000 U.S. troops, reflects a belief among White House officials that Afghan security forces have evolved into a robust enough force to contain a still-potent Taliban-led insurgency. The small U.S. force that would remain could focus on counter-terrorism or training operations.

That belief, the officials say, is based partly on Afghanistan's surprisingly smooth election, which has won international praise for its high turnout, estimated at 60 percent of 12 million eligible votes, and the failure of Taliban militants to stage high-profile attacks that day.

The Obama administration has been looking at options for a possible residual U.S. force for months.

"The discussion is very much alive," said one U.S. official who asked not to be identified. "They're looking for additional options under 10,000" troops.

There are now about 33,000 U.S. troops in Afghanistan, down from 100,000 in 2011, when troop numbers peaked a decade into a conflict originally intended to deny al Qaeda sanctuary in Afghanistan after the September 11, 2001, attacks.

Of course, it would be peak irony if the next country Russia decides to destabilize is none other than its old "buddy" Afghanistan, which lately appears far more amicable toward the Kremlin than the White House. It certainly would be an additional egg in the face of US foreign policy if Aghaniitan - so critical to the US controlled heroin trade - were to show a return to some of its Taliban roots for which it is so well-known.

This has everything to do with Peak Cheap Energy and who has the most of what's left AND where it's going.

The U.S. and the West want influence if not control of the flows of energy into Europe.  We cannot afford Europe's economy to go into a depression in part due to skyrocketing energy prices.  The energy flow comes through in large measure if not the majority through Ukraine.

If Europe's economy collapses due in part to a lack of relatively cheap energy, then the banking system collapses and cascades back to America and sinks us as well.

Not that Peak Debt, Peak Ponzi and Peak Corruption combined won't do the trick before this.  But there are so many straws now that can break the camel's back the U.S. cannot take any chances.

And we are going to sacrifice even more young flesh for the West's Utopian dream to stay alive for at least one more year.....if not forever.

Not that it will matter.  Empires always fall.  And so will ours and so will the West.  The only question is how many of our children will have to die before we accept the inevitable.

I would guess in response to this action he'll today collect another 10.5 million barrels X $109 = $1 billion+ from his enemies.

The US is still by far the most powerful nation and if the US doesn't stand up to the Russians and show some resistance then who should? The chinese don't care and/or are on russia's side, the other countries don't have the military strength to do so.

Look a little deeper...we're 380 million (less a few pricks) nike-wearing, fast-food eating, debt-buying, TV watching people seriously concerned with selfies, portable phones (used mostly as tiny typewriters) driving aroung in cars we can't afford to pay for. While we pack the stadium for Miley Cyrus and Justin Bieber concerts, watch the Stupor Bowl and pay athletes ridiculouus sums of money to run around doing drugs, shooting people and generally setting a fine example for our young to follow, we don't protest the massive frauds or fraudsters who have pillaged the country, destroyed its integrity and laid waste to our youth through fucking the school system and starting wars to divert attention from the scandal parade marching in every city, capital and Capitol in the country. A nation founded by committed revolutionaries has been despoiled by greed and apathy, a court system that has destroyed our families and preferred the rights of dollar bills and petty tyrants over the greater good. What, I ask you, what could go wrong?

america may be on the verge of entering some dark times within its social fabric.  this course can be averted.  there is still time left.

also, the DAX/EU markets may be setting up for an epic bear market or a breakout retest that will usher in an epic bull market.

or, all the noise in the intarwebs + media complex may be prepping the battlefield for an epic "new, one world order" that will mark the beginning of an evolutionary renaissance in philosophy, science, art, and religion plus solving the world peace problem - which leads to heavan right now on earth for all.  it is solvable/attainable, and it's not at all too late to start.

If it is so wrong now, look up and down war threads, people talk of wasting human lives to bankster wars, why not then?

One of my friends was an Indian IT contractor.  He couldn't move his head in one direction. I asked if he was in an accident and he said "Yes.  I was officer in the Indian Army in Sri Lanka and got blown up.  It was a complete accident that we were at war there and we shouldn't have been.  I don't want to say any more."

Every person that I have met from various countries that has seen combat tells of similar things.  We all carry our ghosts and I find it impolite to pry into such things casually.

Appreciate the sentiment, but this is fight club.

And we are just not natural fighters. Just not.

Having been in the armed forces and the son of an officer, I've seen it all up close and personal.

I was in the Navy as well and slept with my feet on an ICBM tube. I didn't have personal trigger time but ran the tactical fire control. I had a very hard time following the Kursk explosion. I wept for them and especially when I found out that the guys aft wrote goodbye messages in the insulation lagging. One of the strangest thing to me is that I would have high-fived all around had I pressed "fire" on those very same guys. Strange isn't it?

Here is the truth about the putsch in Ukraine:

Ukraine: Poland trained putchists two months in advance

by Thierry Meyssan

The Polish left-wing weekly Nie (No) published a startling witness account of the training given to the most violent of the EuroMaidan [1] activists.

According to this source, in September 2013, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski invited 86 members of the Right Sector (Sector Pravy), allegedly in the context of a university exchange program. In reality, the guests were not students, and many were over 40. Contrary to their official schedule, they did not go to the Warsaw University of Technology, but headed instead for the police training center in Legionowo, an hour’s drive from the capital. There, they received four weeks of intensive training in crowd management, person recognition, combat tactics, command skills, behavior in crisis situations, protection against gases used by police, erecting barricades, and especially shooting, including the handling of sniper rifles.

Such training took place in September 2013, while the Maidan Square protests were allegedly triggered by a decree suspending preparations for the signing of the Ukraine-European Union Association Agreement, which was issued by Prime Minister Mykola Azarov on November 21, i.e. two months later.

the crisis of confidence in govt. can be averted by a new era fusing renaissance/enlightenment.  and it needs to be paid for by a forced redistribution of those trillions in accounting units, which are currently mis-allocated to humanity-regressive investments.

Nice link! This seems to confirm reports I had read in other sources at the time the Kiev coup was under way. America has not hidden the fact that they have been the paymasters for all protestors willing to sign up for official status as US shock troops. It seems 40-50 Euro a day for protestors of the rank and file was standard US pay. This is a very good wage for Ukraine, and could support protestor's families while the men were professional American agents. I believe the wages are still being paid by the USA. One can assume that leaders and commanders in the US protestor ranks were paid perhaps 100 to 1,000 times the average protestor pay, as this is typical American wage differential.

The organization was built on the Roman legion model. Since most combat would be hand to hand or with hand weapons, a Roman Imperial model was prefect for the operation that the CIA had organized and funded. The EU of course is involved, but their real role is to give the CIA and America a European cover story.

What technology do you want to expose in a region close to one of your historic rivals, one with the research staff to reverse-engineer whatever you put there?  What do you deploy to a region that's possibly the next major military disaster?

Besides, when did Airborne start getting the latest super-secret technology?

If you're really worried, maybe you send someone to train the locals, or at least the police forces, as paramilitary groups and start a Gladio-style network and resistance cells that can wage an insurgency against occupiers using the same low-tech, highly-effective strategies that have made life hell for invading powers ever since the colonial period and that still work in Afghanistan (against both the Russians and the US).  This doesn't take tech, just willpower.

Good enough to start a war if you're planning to sacrifice them all in an orchestrated incident which you plan to blame on the Russians.

Dateline Chicago -- 45 people were gunned down (killed or injured) in Easter weekend violence in Obama's "sweet home" Chicago.  They say they now call it Chiraq.  Hell, those Chicago thugs are even more efficient than Obama.  It took him a whole week to slaughter that many civilians in Yemen.

Monetary Fool Theory

As you can plainly see, monetary policy is all about delay, employing gravity in the return line. To the extent you chase money with work, the gravity grows, and, depending upon your development, the ivory tower morons can be quite useful.

All the monetary fools can do is print ahead of wealth creation and hope money returns to money. The whole point of the middle class, from the perspective of legacy, is to hunt down labor and capture the return on its work. “Slaves are wealth.” And neither legacy nor the middle class has any idea what work is, because they have willfully removed themselves from nature, with make-work compliance, as if nature is the enemy.

Each event horizon operates on its own set of assumptions, and to get anything accomplished you have to do the impossible, which becomes possible when you ignore the false assumptions, ignorance. Don’t waste your time fighting stupid. Empire domestication implodes the moment labor steps out of the way, because the middle class cannot rear its own children.

Yes, the real estate morons are vacuuming up real estate everywhere, but they cannot do anything with it, but chase real estate inflation with money, real estate inflation. Because RE and its taxation is the artificial control mechanism at the heart of this empire, it becomes relatively ‘free’ to labor in a demographic collapse. That’s the only way to reboot the economy, by discounting the control mechanism to those capable of rearing children.

Russia is exploiting America’s weakness, and Germany will soon follow, like always. They cannot help themselves. And Asia lost the demographic war a long time ago. Occupying territory is one thing; raising productive children, and grandchildren, is another. When a government applies force, it is already as good as dead. The majority just doesn’t know it yet, because peer pressure groups are incapable of consideration beyond their own event horizon.

If you look, you will see that the return on labor always falls to 2X the control mechanism, to favor single people in civil marriage, subsidized by the liquidation of real marriage, which requires 4X at equilibrium. Under the equal rights regime, a parent must compete with a single person in a completely artificial workplace, until the subsidizing government collapses of its own dead weight.

The passive until aggressive civil marriage blows itself up. If you focus on developing skills relative to nature, it really doesn’t matter what the empire does. Divide and conquer works, for the empire, until it doesn’t, when you step out of the way and move forward.

Your real problem, space travel, is one of location and timing. Grandma is giving her property away to RE by force of habit. That’s not where you want to be. Replacing men with a romanticized version of Jesus Christ, Immaculate Conception, and eunuchs to take the blame, was a really stupid thing to do, but you’ll have that.

If you choose a location, timing becomes a function of patience. If you choose timing, the location will present itself. Humanity will never exceed nature, because humanity is, and always will be, a derivative. Mach 7 is nothing, but another moron shock and awe development.

It takes a couple to climb, to produce productive children.

In the beginning, there was God, a man and a woman. Then came the snake. The future passes through birth, a woman, but she cannot time the location. A divided house may only fall, into miscarriage, which is what you are looking at, globally.
