Las Vegas, NV – Nevada Senator Harry Reid released the following statement today on racist comments by Cliven Bundy reported by the New York Times.
“I used to live in North Las Vegas and it is home to some of the hardest-working people I have ever met – men and women who embody the American dream by working hard every day to build a better life for themselves and their families. By contrast, Cliven Bundy has spent decades profiting off government land while refusing to pay the same fair use fees as his fellow ranchers. Today, Bundy revealed himself to be a hateful racist. But by denigrating people who work hard and play by the rules while he mooches off public land he also revealed himself to be a hypocrite.
“To advance his extreme, hateful views, Bundy has endangered the lives of innocent women and children. This is not a game. It is the height of irresponsibility for any individual or entity in a position of power or influence to glorify or romanticize such a dangerous individual, and anyone who has done so should come to their senses and immediately condemn Bundy. For their part, national Republican leaders could help show a united front against this kind of hateful, dangerous extremism by publicly condemning Bundy.
“The bottom line is that elected officials and those in positions of power or influence have a responsibility to unite behind the basic principle that we are a country of laws, and that whatever our differences, it is unacceptable for individuals to use violence or the threat of violence to advance their radical views.”

Seems to me like it's usually white people putting them in jail. And I don't see the connection between going to jail and not "learning" how to pick cotton.
I also don't see how he thinks they're better off as slaves picking cotton when, according to the sentence right before that, they don't know how to pick cotton.

I struggle to understand why ZH continues to champion Bundy as some freedom fighter. He is just another member of the Free Shit Army and Reid can go fuck himself for calling out another racist without looking in the mirror first.

Lets get to the facts.
Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 states that the Federal Government CANNOT own land, except for post offices and such. The Supreme Court backed this up in the landmark case in 1844, Pollard v. Hagan where, when a territory becomes a state, ALL LAND becomes state land.
As soon as new states were formed out of the territory, "the power of the United States over these lands as property was to cease," wrote the court. Thus the provision requiring the people of Alabama to release all title to public lands to the United States, the court said "..would have been void and inoperative, because the United States have no constitutional capacity to exercise municipal jurisdiction, sovereignty, or eminent domain, within the limits of a state, or elsewhere, except in cases in which it is expressly granted..." by the Constitution, such as the District of Columbia, land purchased by the federal government from a state with its consent, and land of a territory before it is divided into states.
Of the latter, said the court, "as soon as these purposes could be accomplished, the power of the United States over these lands was to cease."
In Nevada, the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo states that the Fed's will HONOR the sovereignty of the original 13 states and, as soon as possible, take the territory ceded by Mexico and form soverign states.
The United States government pledged that the territory given up by Mexico "shall be formed into free, sovereign, and independent states and incorporated into the Union of the United States as soon as possible, and the citizens thereof shall be accorded the enjoyment of all the rights, advantages and immunities as citizens of the original states."
You see, the Federal Government has been lying, cheating and stealing forever, breached the trust when Nevada became a state, broke the original contract know as the constitution, and went against the Supreme Court.
So, fraud vitiates ALL CONTRACTS and renders them VOID from inception, and makes anything which follows null and void. There is no statute of limitations of fraud. The Feds have NO legitimate claim to any land in Nevada and have no authority to send snipers to collect on a bill which Cliven does NOT owe under contract, and has NO jurisdiction to rule in a Federal Court against a state citizen.
Come on now, the Federal Court decides that Bundy's cattle can be confiscated? Anyone else see a conflict of interest when a Federal court rules for the Feds in a case? That's like the fox guarding the hen house.
This whole thing stinks to high heaven, and Harry Reid is right in the middle of the dung pile, and were not talking about COW DUNG HERE.

That includes the duty of care, and the duty of loyalty. The tort is against the officer holder or employee in their seperate individual capacity, and also gets a jury trial. Do it by common law, and any error goes back to the same court, and same jury. I think it would help if the Bureau of Land Management and the U.S. Dept. of Energy would explain to the public why they are trying to aggressively remove Bundy's cattle from the Gold Butte area so that everyone is aware of the plans that are in store for six southwestern states (Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Utah).
I really doubt if they are going to do this, so I will try to give a short summary to explain their grand plans based on a BLM document that I have read called "Regional Mitigation Strategy for the Dry Lake Solar Energy Zone" that was published March 2014. LINK
The DOE has identified 17 priority areas for utility-scale solar energy development (SEZ ~ Solar Energy Zones). Dry Lake SEZ in Nevada is the first project. In order to use this public land, the DOE has developed a "compensation plan" for loss of habitat, etc. (desert tortoise)
Since Gold Butte (Bundy area ~ see map) is ecologically similar and the best recipient location, this is where the BLM would like to "relocate" wildlife, weeds, turtles, etc. This transfer is referred to as "mitigation". (Gold Butte is on page 30 of the report.)
The total cost of affecting the protection of this ACEC (Gold Butte) for 30 years, the expected term of solar development right-of-way, is about $9 million.

All the land Reid has in the area should be confiscated and given back to the ranchers, none of Reids land was legally acquired, in the common sense of the law, he would go in to reorganize the land and update the records of the land holdings and he would cut himself a slice of land every-time.
You can see in the records for the county area that everytime the zoning changed for the BLM controlled land, the BLM parcels of land would shrink miraculously at the same time that Reids parcels of land would grow.
