How The World Sees NATO (In One Cartoon)
A picture paints a thousand words - though perhaps only one is necessary to describe NATO...(for now)...

Are those devil horns on its head?
Naw. Just a little shock and awe.
NATO =
Now
Another
Toothless
Organization
Crap cartoon.
NATO sanctions US wars of aggression regularly.
When the US and NATO are weak, trouble spreads rapidly throughout the world:
04.24.14 19:50 ET BREAKING NEWS: Heavy Gunfire, RPGs in Jordanian City of Ma’an – Military to Intervenehow many more bases do we need to quell this dreadful weakness?! And where do I send the check?
No need to send a check, it's being automatically deducted.
NATO=
No
Action
Talk
Only
Is the implication that NATO is supposed to defend non-NATO member states now? The main damage to NATO's credibility was its deployment as the NATO organization, to Afghanistan, when individual European militaries were the case with regard to Iraq. But now that NATO has been seen as an international interventionist in other parts of the world, can it be viewed as toothless when it does not intervene this time?
This hardly makes NATO a toothless paper-tiger. NATO constitutes the second most powerful military capability on earth today. It has excellent networked forces, many very modern high capability platforms and world class precision weapons with excellent range and diversity, and its all backed by three nuclear arsenals, and two of which are entirely European. This cartoon is funny and very clever, but it's anything but accurate.
If NATO were to take on Russia in conventional battle, Russia's military would get a sharp wake-up call about how well targeted they are, and how easily and consistently and routinely the very best Russian hardware and bases can be hit and destroyed.
Russia is certainly not the superior conventional military power, though it may have since convinced itself that it is. Superiority is strongly related to where you fight and how far you are from organized defenders and supply.
Ukraine was never a part of that intensive sphere of power-projection, in fact, most of the frontline former Warsaw pact states still are not, but they can be quickly turned into that.
And that's what Russia is now risking with all this taunting and smug BS, plus its support of separatism and civil war, and their threats to invade. It all pretty much guarantees that NATO will expand its sphere of intensified power-projection capabilities toward the Russian border.
Well done Vlad, you've now made a major mistake, you got far too cocky so the momentum and initiative is now flowing back to NATO. The opportunity you could have used to far more wisely take the US out of the picture, is now slipping away fast. All you had to do was stick to diplomacy and you would have got it, but the moment you threatened further invasion you lost it.
Replace "Vlad" with whatever your name is- and you'd be correct.
@Element:
Agree. After the Crimea move, the Russian government was in a winning situation. All it had to do to guarantee that gain moving forward was to rely on the wheels of diplomacy. Stability on its borders is in its long-term interests. Reacting wrongly to arrogant imperial gestures by the U.S. is serving to weaken the Russian position.
Goes to show that the U.S. Congress / Pres. do not have a monopoly on arrogance and stupidity.
Indeed, the usual runaway hubris rush. Moscow could have simply shown Europe the option of assured energy market access and partnership if they simply put some space between the EU and Washington. But instead the Russian military meat-heads have ruined all that. It was a golden opportunity and it will not come again, and can only be viewed as a major geopolitical mistake by Russia to let that slip away. There was so much to gain from it and for the entire region in between, plus it would have out an end to the US/NATO interventionism. And now that superior position has all been blown away in support of petty-minded divisions and separatism, that will get them ashes.
Russia and Putin are clearly not impervious to making major errors or having the situation quickly turned around on them.
May the baby Jeebus have mercy on you.. You have no idea how full of shit you are. Pride goeth before the fall, enjoy the ride.
trouble spreads rapidly throughout the world
You only can interpret trouble from which side the bombs are dropping.
This trouble you speak of is other countries getting sick and fucking tired of the US and NATO dropping bombs on their citizens.
I don't blame them. I'd be pissed off too.
It's not just NATO and the US. There are many nations sick and tired of being tools for the Arab monarchies of the Arabian peninsula.
dude, I think you need an "/s/" beside your avatar and name.
Let's be clear and honest:
NATO is to the US what a Shabbos Goy is to a Jew on Sabbath.
Exactly and I love that cartoon. NATO is going to fall apart along with the EU and the US. I think they are trying to start a fight with Russia in order to use that as cover for the economic implosion and also the "sacrifice" that will be needed when prices for food and staples are too high and rationing comes into being.
Thems handles to make it real easy for Vlad to ride.
Oh please let Russia have Ukraine so the bull market can go up Moar!
why do you think big bad bama has those huge luges?
'just don't hold my ears'
everybody has been pulling on them for years.
Tony Blair is on the case!
Tony B liar.
Fixed the spelling for you.
Love it.
Poor ZATO, we hardly knew ya.
Why does ZH resemble a super market tabloid tonight?
Is the world running out of trivia and gossip?
What's wrong with having some fun in the face of ever increasing possibility of being turned into radioactive dust?
Eat, drink, and be merry — for tomorrow we vaporize.
Having this: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/17981/46363/
Had this last night: http://www.beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/345/99873/
Both are excellent.
Tonight I vape - tomorrow I vaporize. ;)
A little Skunk #1 in the vape here myself +100 for the Vape.
No problemo, dog.
Just lots of fluff and no substance lately. Free speech has gone AWOL.
It's been a coon's age since we've had an open thread. Methinks one of the Tylers fears truthiness.
WTF?
WTF?
Nah! Occasionally posting some fluff as a reflection of the relentless, all-encompassing general fluff is OK. Art majors would say that this is an aesthetic take on substance. ;-)
Neutron and fuel-air bombs will bring victory without need for radioactive dust. Unless Russia doesn't take loosing well.
First, the EMPs. Second, well... enjoy the fireworks.
Exactly how many Shermans do we still have sitting around in museums? Might need those.
Hey, I'm mad because I emailed Tyler about my Bat Boy sighting, but I still haven't gotten a reply. I think ZH is in on the cover-up.
SSHH,
That's Tyler's night time job.
lol...I've asked several times who Igor Ivanovich Strelkov is and what his "specialty" is.
So far, no response, just junks.
Makes me think I'm getting closer to the truth ;-)
Did you try Google?
http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/21/world/europe/photos-link-masked-men-in...
lol...my point (obviously) is that all the hysterics about "foreigners" being in Ukraine and shooting people down in cold blood in the square only pointed in one direction, west, never east.
Lets try to keep a level head about this and let Europe & Russia sort it out. I want to see (on the one hand) what a bunch of pansies the europeans have become and (on the other) have my own suspicions about the US government confirmed.
It just takes a little time ;-)
//////////
And I'm going to expand on this (because I can never leave well enough alone...lol). This is for free thinking/acting men & women. Socialist/statists need not respond, just junk it...I understand, TIA.
I have watched (granted, with some chuckling) at the plight of a narcisstic "community organizer" giving flowery speeches adding up to easily recognizable deception & false advertising as world leaders laughed at him.
Because I know they are not laughing at me/us.
I'm fine with that.
But lets get one thing clear...Putin is the very same as Obama, only Putin is straight forward about what he "hopes" to accomplish and is a guy I could have a beer with (as long as Ned was across the street with him in his scope). They are both socialist-oligarchs. They both enrich their cronies, who in turn enrich them, by the power of their elective office, thus the state. Putins appeals to nationalism & lost empire mean the same to me as Obama's appeals to patriotism for the "progressive cause".
To think that a free, sovereign man, would ever back either is to not know what true sovereignty is.
KGB or NSA...lol...really?
For what it's worth, I'm with you. If anyone thinks the US is the only power that who would try to destabilize a nation for their own intereststs, I think they are being naive.
If there was a way for them to both lose and not kill me and mine I'm all for it.
Here you go.
As the Times Turns
April 24, 2014
"When is a New York Times retraction not a retraction?
When the Gray Lady gets caught with her bloomers down, but avoids any admission of wrongdoing, and hides her "correction" in a back page instead of right where it belongs. That, logically, would be on the front page where the original story and photo spread appeared, accompanied by a large type, bold print apology.
Those grainy photos of bearded "green men" that were peddled by the Obama administration to the newspaper as proof of Russian presence in East Ukraine, and dutifully and unquestioningly reprinted by the Times, have been exposed both as photos of different men and as old pictures actually taken on Russian, rather than Ukrainian, real estate. The whole thing had a decidedly Loch Ness monster feel to it right from the get-go, but at least it didn't take half a century for the fraud to be exposed. Thanks to the miracles of high resolution technology and hundreds of unlying 50/50 human eyeballs, the fakery failed within days..."
-----
original NYT article: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/21/world/europe/photos-link-masked-men-in...
"retraction": http://www.nytimes.com/2014/04/23/world/europe/scrutiny-over-photos-said...
"Jen Psaki, a State Department spokeswoman, acknowledged that the assertion that the photograph in the American briefing materials had been taken in Russia was incorrect. But she said that the photograph was included in a “draft version” of a briefing packet and that the information has since been corrected. This photograph, she said, was not among those presented by Mr. Kerry in Geneva."
Is there an actual source for your italicized besides your bio?
? (in fairness to nmewn I did edit my post to include the 2nd NYT article).
You added to your post after I commented, do you deny it?
////////
Thanks
You're too slow on the draw dude.
.
edit: I'm always careful when replying to comments to make sure the one I'm replying to is the one I read. I get an "access denied" message if someone is in the process of replying to a comment. However, it's possible the software's "locking" mechanism doesn't work the way it should, in which case one wouldn't see the correct message when replying. I doubt that's the case though.
Would you like for me to comment on what you have provided?
You're not the only one who has my attention...
Sure, it's good to get different viewpoints.
edit: previous post should have said, "in which case one wouldn't necessarily see the correct message when replying."
Sometimes poorly written software works say 95% of the time.
Look home slice, you wrote "retraction"...right?
"Vyachislav Ponomaryov, the de facto mayor of Slovyansk, who was ushered into office by pro-Russian militants, acknowledged in a news conference on Tuesday that armed men had come to his town from outside Ukraine but vociferously denied that they were Russian Special Forces."
I'm not saying everything the Gray Lady throws up (as in vomit) is truth as it is a well known government mouthpiece for the establishment (just like RT in Russia) but you should at least read what they are saying in your so-called "retraction".
I read both NYT articles before responding. I put "retraction" in quotes because it wasn't much of one. Based on what I've read though, the original story is bogus. imo.
I'm just going to go ahead and capture what I'm replying to...because you are impatient...or...that'll make it easier on everyone, including us.
"I read both NYT articles before responding. I put "retraction" in quotes because it wasn't much of one. Based on what I've read though, the original story is bogus. imo."
Everyone has a right to their opinion, it doesn't necessarily make it correct though ;-)
Not impatient, I just never get my posts correct the first time. I always scored higher in math aptitude than verbal aptitude.
In case anybody is still interested, here's a thread discussing the subject:
.
Photos Link Masked Men in East Ukraine to Russia and suggest that many of the men who have seized Ukrainian government sites are indeed Russian military and intelligence forces.
'The photo of the bearded man is not the same man. See for yourself in these images (Including High-Res versions of the same photos released by Ukraine) that have not been artificially reduced in resolution.
The Russian soldier in Georgia (same photo but in higher resolution, wonder why it was intentionally diminished?) http://i.imgur.com/AkckFq6.jpg

...
The guy from the first photo is Hamzat, he was second in command in "Vostok" battalion composed primarily from ethnic Chechen. It was disbanded in 2008.
Here is a video with him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMANWwqbTWk
I'm really not sure what does he have to do with the other guy in Ukraine apart from both of them sporting fabulous beards. It's pretty clear that it's not the same person.
...
"It's pretty clear that it's not the same person."
Partially right. They're actually two different members from ZZ Top.'
etc.
RT picked up on the story: http://rt.com/news/154548-pictures-russian-troops-false/
"Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man!"
The anti-hopium of a market crash happening soon is gone. The Righteous Sword of Libertarian Justice is nowhere to be found.
All that's left is hoping Vlad will accidently cause the demise of our crony-capitalist state freeing the Righteous Sword of Libertarian Justice from her prison allowing her to slay the evil socialists and restore a free-market economy exactly like we had in (uh) can't remember the exact date now.
The world is now run on nothing but trivia and gossip motherfucker and the NSA is the biggest tabloid production that ever existed. Hang on and keep your arms and legs inside the ride at all times.
Kaiserhoff - I upvoted you and it gave you one plus and eight downvotes :(
To answer your question there isn't much action in the investment world. Banking is growing boring as was inevitable.
There are less outrageous stories of Jamie Dimon or Lloyd Blankfein. Government got away with the crime. However, mainstream media is now picking up on political corruption as it cannot be ignored any longer. Also because wealthy investors have reached a plateua, global growth has stalled so they now, cheap debt for them has run it's course so they are realizing things must change to restart growth. It isn't out of the goodness of heart.
The news that is interesting is the fallout from a cycle of greed which events causes a focus on geopolitics in Ukraine for example. Look at the comments on that thread, several hundred compared to a a few dozen in other threads on the economy.
A lot of the ZH users see the same day after day on economics so the same repeated commentary can get stale. I attempt to not be too repetitious..
I do like some deep thinking articles like Cognative Dissonance put out. I really liked seeing more focus of late back to the source of the corrupt that rule the world, the Central Banking system and history of the Rothschild's, deceptions and the reserve currency going to China how it impacts trade and geopolitics.
Loved George Washington's article on how war does not improve domestic economies. Very proud that the Bundy ranch story was promoted. If there are rapidly diminishing property rights it indicates latger change is coming for better or worse. Probably worse still for another few years before they get better. Let's pray no WW3 with nukes...
Just my opinions.
"bout time. Also, time to disband the UN. Side note, ever notice the number of reported cases of bed bugs goes up in NY when the UN is in sesion?
That be rayciss trying to equivocate third world UN representatives with parasitical bed bugs.
If something is true, is it still a stereotype?
Prolly so, but damn fine point.
With no other information, would you rather wake up from a drunk weekend married to Brit, or Yolanda?
At that point, you just chew off your arm in order to get out of bed, then chew off the other because you know she will be looking for a one-armed man.
Edit: Unless she is a hot redhead Brit, Irish, Scotish lass, then she can just read me the phone book. I'd be good with the accent.
But before it gets shred,
Vlad plays with the cat.
The paper tiger is being lead by the brainless ringmaster whose education papers are hidden to protect his false image. What if Putin has a copy of his school records?
At this point, who would believe any transcript they coughed up?
NATO looks like a fat cat...nah, just another endangered species.
Ramirez is usually good stuff, this one excellent.
Poor old kitty, should have learned to play the piano or paint or something.
"Gotta go, the cat's caught in the printer!"
The UN is a joke. It is an American creation meant to pull wool over the rest of the world's eyes
Why a NATO if the UN was a place where all Nations were truly United. a forum where all Nations are equal and vetoes do not exist ! In a democracy all are equal. Very clear that this is Americrazy. Meant to impose American needs and wants on the rest of the world.
The World Bank & the IMF belong to the Banksters. All they do is to ensure that sick Nations become sicker and are more subservient to the US.
Ya gotta hand it to them smart-n-savvy sociopath, tho, they sure know how to scam the dumbasses. Been going on for how many centuries now? The more highly evolved humans win, just life.
Yes, a better 'cartoon' of NATO would be a blood sucking vampire, with a long tether to the USA/ISRAEL, and the star of David on the Vampires forehead/foreskin.
Make sure the vampire is also drinking the blood of
European and middle east children.
What BULLSHIT. First there is always one cartoon to explain all, and one VIDEO(YOUTUBE), to say all, but nobody can ever just explain the truth about anything.
The deal is that NATO is a mercenary army ran on EUROPEAN soil post WW2, ran by the USA, and paid for by the USA, but using EUROPEAN boys as cannon fodder.
In the USA the MSM paint's NATO as being "EUROPEAN", but everybody in EUROPE knows that NATO is a USA BITCH.
Thus in summary, rather than a CAT, it might be better to have an AIPAC GOAT, covered in EUROPEAN blood, but fed with FED FIAT. Then that one cartoon would explain 'NATO'.
The problem of course is the USA/ISRAEL grew the EU too quick, and tried to take over too much of EUROPE too quick, and then expanding NATO to the middle-east broke the camel's back, and now NATO is just a financial burden to the USA with no return on investment.
>>>
Now take that REAL and make your cartoon.
James, relax. The smart-n-savvy people are just trying to show the peasants that their leaders need bigger dicks. Peasants love killing their kids for leaders with big dicks, they always have. So, you need to shame the leaders into starting a war so peasants WANT to kill their kids. Everybody win.
They don't have big dicks - they wish they had.
All the macho bullshit is because they haven't
_______________
I have a 12 inch dick, but I don't use it as a rule! Old, old joke.
War is ceeping closer, The US Vice President was in Kiev with orders to move out and kill the protestors. 5 down today. All America has to export is war and death. Ukraine is going to get a whole lot of that and very soon. IMF and World Bank loans are coming, Austerity is coming. Ukraine will taste the full force of EU looting. That is why NATO wants East Ukraine so badly, there is nothing to loot in the west, all wealth creating enterprise is in the Russian East Ukraine. Germany needs to shut down all that industry, so they can export to Ukraine and loan them the money to buy German goods. Just liek in Greece. It will work well, until it doesn't work, then it all goes to shit, in come the austerity boys to sell off any state assets to the EU and USA corporations. All well planned, all well tested.
There is nothing left to loot in the USA too, ... I think that's a very interesting point being missed.
There is nothing left to steal in Palestine,
There is nothing left to steal in continental Italy, Greece, Spain, France.
>>>
I suspect a lot of the "BUNDY RANCH" MSM theatre is about the BLM(FED's) right to assert their 'LAND' for sale to the highest bidder, make no fucking mistake folks that the USA will be stripped to the bone and auctioned off.
>>>
The entire 'EU GAME' required GROWTH, to feed the welfare machine left in its tracks, and UKRAINE is where people said "NO". Once 'growth' is terminated then the EU will have to do a FED and print FIAT to INFINITY. Germany certainly doesn't want to see that, but they also don't want to lose 'export monopoly'. Triffen Dillemma say's a reserve currency must export all job's, certainly Germany doesn't want the EU to be the 'reserve currency'.
Given the US-MIL standing ARMY that still holds GERMANY & JAPAN, I somehow doubt that GERMANY has the power you think they have, they have the 'export monopoly', but largely but historical precedent of a hard-working people. I'm sure having Ukraine destroyed helps German sales, but I don't see that as the driving force.
The best analysis IMHO is to simply see the EU as KLEPTOCRACY, whose only goal is to steal everything in EUROPE, and expand as far as it can. Certainly the EU is ran by the IMF by way of USA/ISRAEL. I don't see GERMANY controlling the EU, they simply have been the winners of the game so far, but German export's could easily end should the PTB decide its now time to RAPE&PILLAGE germany,
In summary look to Eastern Germany, and see how they wish to return to PUTIN. That would be telling if the Eastern German know what the fuck is really going on.
>>"There is nothing left to steal in Palestine"
oh yes there is-Israel will kill or drive out the Palestinians and take over that whole country....GENOCIDE

Paper Tiger
as much as I got a good chuckle out of the above NATO tiger being run through the Russian shredder cartoon, it is not unfortunately, in keeping with the reality of this situation.
ever since this whole cluster started, you could see the script being played out, feel us being dragged step by deliberate step as they started prepping the public for war, and no matter how many times some empty suit spouts false platitudes about a "war weary America" everywhere, in every world printed on every MSM sight and every deed in Washington the intent is more than obvious. and yes, they absolutely can sell this war to the American public, they are doing it now.
but here is the best part.
it's going to work, not because john q public is whipped up into a frenzy and ready to die for the freedom and democracy of the oppressed Ukrainian people but because there are so few of us who are actually paying attention beyond a quick read of the headlines or a scan of the first paragraph. all the sound bites and five minute CNN interviews pounding the same message, the same propaganda into the minds of the United States of ADD. so when the first "intolerable, inexcusable Russian act of aggression that threatens the safety and security of the free world" hits, whether by false flag or actual first strike the vast majority of Americans will be blindsided by it. much like pearl harbor or 9/11 you will have 24/7 coverage of a nation of people who "never saw it coming" and "we didn't ask for this" will again become the rallying cry that drives us once again into the breech.
they never saw it coming but they sure hear the message, over and over again...even if they didn't realize it until that fateful day when something happened to make it all inescapably clear.
"tell a big enough lie, tell it over and over again and eventually it will become the truth"
NATO is just a smoke screen, more propaganda cover to make it seem as if this is truly the international community vs. an isolated Russia ruled over by a mad dog dictator hell bent on conquest, death and destruction. and haven't we all seen this song and dance so many times before?
and just like Saddam Hussein and Iraq before it will be the US doing all the heavy lifting, not NATO, hell the Western Europeans might not even send the token forces they have provided in the past, out of fear for obvious reasons. but there will be war none the less, there will be flags and patriotic scenes painted on the sides of buildings, yellow ribbons, support our troops and endless displays of America coming together in a time of great crises. there will be constant reminders of the greatness of the indomitable American spirit and just like 9/11 it will be a revival of American pride.
however, unlike Iraq or 9/11 or Pearl Harbor the outcome is not guaranteed, and fate may yet decide that instead of another glorious triumph of democracy and freedom over evil and tyranny, it may choose a different path, throw a twist into the ending as it were.
it may decide that we will all burn together.
Yes, we have seen this before, around 1939 when Hitler started invading. Putin is just following that model, will go as far as possible without serious violence, but then will use whatever force is necessary to retake Baltics, and then...
Only jews use the big H(itler) for a bogeyman.
"...because there are so few of us who are actually paying attention ..."
Markey, you are delusional (if this isn't just paid shill material).
Having recently been to Eastern Europe and having seen the feeling of native foks to the possibility that the Russians might move on them too...and even fear of the Russian transplants in their midst...I can assure you that the American people will be rightly angered and beligerant against Russia if Putin attempts to push his 19th century agenda of empire any further.
The more one explores the history of Russia, both before and during the USSR...and after the USSR for that matter, the more outrageous and sickened one is guaranteed to become.
I'm with you on the stupidity of the Iraq war having marched against it (for both of them I should say),
But I am in deadly opposition to the Russian aggression. Two wrongs never make a right. If we can shut down Putin and save Ukraine, then there are no number of Russians I would not see dead amd bleading out on a coil of barbed wire to make that happen.
Back again, peddling your Russophobic fantasies of mass murder and genocide, are you?
Curious to know which Eastern European countries you were in. You do realize that almost all of these countries have been aggressors towards Russia since at least WWI, some of them since the 13th century? Their views are hardly unbiased.
You sound like my Hungarian grandmother. She was always going on about the Russian bogeyman, they're evil people, etc. etc. When someone reminded her that the reason Russians invaded Hungary was a result of Hungarians gleefully joining the Nazi crusade to pillage, rape, and murder 30 million Soviet citizens, then it was crickets...silence...no response...
Wow. ZH is most definitely in the Kremlin's pocket.
Well, I still support you all here...you are Russian stooges but you have the right to be Russian stooges!
we are merely supporting the perceived winner of the conflict.
we wouldnT want to be caught supporting any losers!
we are going to be very disappointed, once we realize that noone wins...
Stick around novictim, this site is not supposed to push any side at all, let alone pump one side over another. Just as this site had clearly attracted the USSA alphabet soup brigade trolls, and the NWO conspiracy brigade, it also now attracts the pro-Kremlin troll brigade too. I suspect most of them are just the former NWO trolls rebranding as pro-moscow trolls. In maybe six months they may have realized that Putin would put them up against a wall in about one minute flat.
It's the useful idiot thing ... I just prefer to be a useless idiot. :D
How about being against ALL predators-DBA-government.
No matter which fictional government they pretend to be.
I'm perfectly fine with Ukraine joining the EU, as long as the IMF and NATO set up their offices in Pripyat.
lol
