WTF Headline Of The Day: Justin Bieber Visits Japan's Yasukuni War Shrine

Tyler Durden's picture

With President Obama in the middle of the pissing match between Japan and China's nationalist provocations, we thought it perfectly appropriate that none other than Justin Bieber would visit the Class-A war criminal housing Yasukuni shrine. As might be expected, his actions stirred up controversy... We are sure Obama was quick to point out that Bieber is Canadian...

As The Diplomat's Zachary Zeck explains, the pop star’s visit was highly controversial and won him criticism from China’s Foreign Ministry.

Global pop star Justin Bieber has sparked controversy in Asia after he uploaded photos of his visit to Japan’s controversial war shrine.

During a visit to Tokyo with his mother on Wednesday, Justin Bieber posted photos of himself at Japan’s controversial Yasukuni Shrine on his Instragram account, sparking outrage in some Asian countries.

As outrage spread across social media sites in China and South Korea, China’s Foreign Ministry took the unusual step of directly addressing the issue. “I don’t know the political stance of this Canadian singer, but China’s view on Japanese leaders visiting the Yasukuni Shrine is clear and consistent,” a spokesperson with the Foreign Ministry said, South China Morning Post reported. He added: “I hope this singer can learn more about the history of Japanese militarism, and the wrongful historical and militaristic views promoted by the shrine after the visit.”

The Yasukuni Shrine source has been a source of great tension between Japan and some of its neighbors, most notably South Korea and China. Japanese politicians, including current Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, have visited the shrine to commemorate the death of Japanese soldiers in war. However, the shrine also honors 14 class-A war criminals and Chinese and South Koreans insist that visits by top Japanese leaders underscore Tokyo’s lack of remorse for Imperial Japan’s horrendous actions during the WWII era.

The outrage Bieber’s visit sparked in some Asian countries led the pop star to quickly remove the offending photos from his Instagram accounts and issue an explanation and apology for posting them in the first place.

“While in Japan I asked my driver to pull over for which I saw a beautiful shrine [sic]. I was mislead [sic] to think the Shrines were only a place of prayer,” Bieber wrote on his Instragram account Wednesday afternoon local time. He added: “”To anyone I have offended I am extremely sorry. I love you China and I love you Japan.”

This is not the first time that Bieber has sparked controversy by wading into sensitive WWII-era history. Last year during a trip to Amsterdam, Bieber visited the Anne Frank House, a memorial honoring the teenage holocaust victim whose diary has been widely read and turned into a play. Following the visit, Bieber wrote a message in the guest book of the site that read: “”Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.” “Belieber” is the word used to describe diehard fans of the pop star sensation.

How long before Kerry asks Bieber to join him in Kiev? On the bright side, a few million more Americans may now be aware of what the shrine means...

Another reason to dislike the Bieber. If Obummer does one good thing (unlikely), please deport this idiot back to Canada.

Beebs is the posterchild for this generation.  Be afraid, be very afraid.  They are the ones who'll inherit positions of leadership someday.

Beeber Silver 1 Kilo Coins Being Minted at the USA Mint

Silver coins with the face of Jason Beeber are being minted at the USA Mint. The coins weigh one kilogram (1kg - 2.2lb) and are being launched by the White House to mark Merika's edukational advancements during the last decade.

Not Unpossible I tell you. Look around you when you walk the streets or the mall. See.

PT's picture

Now now, let's not get carried away here.  The Bieber coins do not weigh a kilo, ... they are hollow, ... and made of silver plastic, ... in China.

Where do you think you are - some place outside of Merika?

Exactly,...who cares.....can't believe I even opened this post.....duh!

look at it for what it is... a cheap stunt to keep WWII in the news...   ancient history, but certain groups won't ever let it their fake version of WWII go...   its the gift that just keeps on giving.  granted its usually nazi stories, over and over, but i guess in asia the evil Japanese war criminal meme works better.

newflash, wwII is ancient history...  bad shit is happening today, every day...  how about we focus on that.

lasvegaspersona's picture

WW2 maybe ancient history for you but many of us have fathers who fought and even if not the lessons of that war are still important. The Nazis and the Japanese did some bad things. The shame is still felt by the good peoples of those countries. Maybe some day the USA will have to answer for some of the things it has been accused of in post war time. If you are unfamiliar read The Rape of Nanjing....or ask a Korean of Chinese friend why they are upset by visits to the shrine. Nation pride is one thing but resurecting the memory of those who committed clear cut war crimes including civilian murders and starving American POWs is another.

I lived in Nanjing for over a year, I know what happened there.  My point is, most of what you hear about WWII these days is pure propaganda.  Plenty of sins to go around on all sides...

I understand and concur. But, to keep perspective, allow me to (once again) point out an inconvenient truth that few dare to proselytize and few are aware of:

14,000,000 Russians died in fighting the Nazis, and it was the Russians who liberated Auschwitz, etc, Poland and Eastern Europe from Hitler and his Bankster sponsors.

How terribly ironic that the Jewish-controlled MSM and Hollywood will not give this TRUTH just air time, or even admit to it.

If I didn't know better, it's almost as though the bitter Trotskyists and their spawn still have an axe to grind for having been booted out of power. Unbelievable. But true.

BTW, some of Kirk's ancestors have fought, bled and died in their fight against Hitler, been killed by a firing squad, and killed in Auschwitz. So anyone who thinks they can junk me for "antisemitism" can fuck right off.

I'm here to paint the WHOLE picture, not just the "fashionable" or managed parts, which amount to "Paint by Numbers".

u have to understand, that hitler was a nationalist cunt and stalin was a class cunt, buth cunts of highest degree...

yes 14 mils died fighting nazis but more than that died just because they werent comunist enough...

i am sorry but calling it a "liberation"? you definitely are not from poland or eastern europe....

Alas, alas, three times alas, inspiration for this work must have come from blobbing up intestinal Bieberism.

On behalf of all Canadians I apologize for this skin bag

Kirk2NCC1701's picture

It's okay for Canadians to now point out that.... "Technically, Bieber is a US Subject". Technically.

And that he was "relatively normal" when he first arrived in the US. What the US music media did to him, Canadians will disavow.

That being said... what my friends in English Canada and mes ami(e)s in Quebec can't deny, is how damn USELESS they've been at firing that smegma-licking lackey: PM Harper. If they REALLY want to be ashamed of someone.

TheFourthStooge-ing's picture

Ah, ah, Bieber is an 'american', living off extorting the weak-minded and farming the poor taste.

A sure path to wealth.

WHY am I reading about Bieber here? I thought I was safe here!

Cocktosen's picture

Was hoping he'd commit sepuku or hara-kiri in front of the shrine.  Now, that would be awesome!

Rodman is not going to like this.

nmewn's picture

lol...Rodman is just a misunderstood egotistic one percenter, who fancies himself to be an unusually tall, pierced, dyed & tatooed common man statesman, searching for global peace with a brain dead, narcissitic tyrant who happens to be a midget, with a Napolean complex.

Its like a match made in Paradise Lost ;-)

Rodman is broke and far from being a 1 percenter...

Small dick no doubt accompanies the short legs; and a low I.Q.

Knowing what you know about history and eugenics, why do you think someones genes have managed to be passed along through countless generations with the physical traits of short legs, short dick and short IQ?
