Stocks Slammed Lower As Ukraine Claims "Invasion Possible At Any Moment"
While stocks have been fading every bounce so far - and credit markets are particularly weak - it seems the following headline sparked the most recent wave of selling:
- *UKRAINE HAS INFORMATION THAT IT IS 'IN DANGER', LUBKIVSKY SAYS
- *LUBKIVSKY SAYS INVASION IS POSSIBLE 'AT ANY MOMENT'
The Russell is the worst on the day but the Nasdaq is now at the day's lows, and all are negative for the week and April.

Good bottom call on the NASDAQ :). Also, "they"--world leaders, etc-- are a little early on the geopolitical gloom and doom. They are supposed to wait until after-hours on Friday--the worst to hit Sat- sun, resolution by market open Monday (or maybe Tues) for required rally on good news (hey, WW3 has been averted. yah). It is almost a little too strange how this has played out like this over the past months (to include the Syria situation).

5yrs have dropped 5 1/2 32nds in the last 4 hours chief...yields have gone up!
The 5 yr instrument is 1.73%, down 1.5 bps on the day. It's right there on the data.

I truly don't think the US govt understands that oil is everything and Russia has it. They are believing their own shale propaganda and it is going to be a major shock when that rolls over.

It's becoming crystal clear that POMO, NY FED securities lending (11AM) and reverse-repos (12:45PM) of >$150 billion/day are all being used as tools by primary dealers to defend their shorts on treasuries.
