It may go more to the east than you realize. The Irving family wants it to feed a refinery at St John,NB.
That oil would not stay in the US, only pass through, refined and sold on the open market. (to China)

Well, I guarantee the Keystone Pipeline is being pushed to enrich some other oligarch other than Warren Buffett, and to bail out serious money invested in frighteningly expensive Canook tar sands oil. Why else would the MSM drape this issue in a flag and pronounce it "a job creator." The oil will be exported, not remain in North America, which right now is awash in oil.
Let's trap it up there and keep it for when we really need it, sort of a Strategic Oil Reserve II.

A few years ago there was talk of a lower limit. When the flow rate got low enough, wax started to form and seal up the pipe. So you don't get a gradual 500K --> 0 decline. You get 500K to some far above 0 number and then it's zero instantly.

I live in MN. I often work in ND. I know something about this. Roughly 25% of the capiscity of the Keystone XL pipeline was booked to take Bakken, (mostly ND), oil. instead, this oil is being transported by train or not transported at all and bottlenecked in ND till a pipe is built. Because ND rail is clogged with oil trains, the grain trains are few and far between. I have been told by a few grain elevator mangers that it is getting critical, that they need their trains or...or..or..who knows, but a financial hardship is guaranteed. Let's face it, we have some of the worst people running our country and that is how we got here. Obama and his nutty lefty supporters have to go. Thats the start of righting the economy. Keep your doctor, get rid of Obama.

What we all should know by now is the Keystone Pipeline will spill far fewer gallons of oil for each barrel transported than will years and years worth of crude transported by rail. But because of the slower transport speeds by rail, the Canadians will likely build a pipeline to the west coast to ship more crude to China. Chinese refineries are far more dirty than American refineries meaning more pollution to the entire Earth. Yeah, it doesn't stay in China. It finds its way into the jet stream and back to the west coast.
