CEO Of Russia's Largest Oil Company, Rosneft, On US Sanctions List

Tyler Durden's picture

Yesterday we reported that among today's expanded sanctioned individuals would be the heads of Rosneft and Gazprom:

Moments ago, we got confirmation that at least one of those two will indeed be "sanctioned" - that someone is Igor Sechin, head of Rosneft which also happens to be Russia's largest oil extractor and refiner:

The news will hardly cause Igor to lose his smile:

However, it appears we were only half right - Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller appears to have been spared for now. And now, as usual, the ball is in Putin's court.

Here is the full Treasury list:

I'm glad someone else asked this question.  I'm reading this (and the other two threads about it), and no one else has mentioned these are individuals (the deputy chief of staff?) being sanctioned.  That's like Putin saying President Obama's limo driver can't use his debit card, but on a far more aggressive scale.

How is this legal or right?

Exactly.  They only need to adjust the oil price by 156.91 on top of 'market price' in EUROS a barrel (since that's where it's all being funneled anyways) and the fight is over.  Not like any of their 'purchasers' were going to honor their debts.  They are all broke dead beats.

I will hazard a guess.

Russia will march its troops into the southeast Ukraine after some serious incident, restores law and order, conducts a referendum where the vote will be in favour of autonomous regions within Ukraine, conducts elections for the local assemblies and waits for Kiev to come up with a constitution that is in line with the referendum in the southeast and guarantees it in the future.

Sometime during the show, probably after Russin troops march into Ukraine, the West will impose economic sanctions on Russia that cannot be laughed off. The BRICS will announce their long awaited bank and currency for international trade, which will kill the US$ and replace it as the reserve currency.

The sanctions on individuals are only meant to turn them against Putin or to at least for them to put pressure on Putin to back down.

When Putin warned them over 10 years ago to bring their money back to Russia they ignored him.

What happened in Cyprus was just a prelude to what is happening now.

Again, this is what you do when you can't lead, and you have absolutely no foreign policy or diplomacy in place.  Obama needs to spend a little more time running the country and a little less time shoving his social and political agenda down the peoples throats.  He is probably still wondering what political favors he can pay back with key presidential appointments, instead of appointing qualified individuals.

So the US is actively trying to destroy the petrol dollar.  #Backfire #IdiotMarxist

I actually think it's a move to ensure that the Russian Ruble doesn't become a candidate to replace the US "Petro" dollar as currency vehicle to buy natural gas, nvm oil.

Natural gas is the next big thing.  The US Petro Dollar will always be tied to oil.......but what to natural gas?  That's what this potential war is all about: what side is going to control one of the biggest gas fields in all of the world (Ukraine....which also is one of the world;s best places to grow food, conincidentally).

Chris Cook has said he potentially foresaw a natural gas backed-currency potentially arising as QE4EVA continues and the lust for fracking and XL pipelines continued to expand.  And as oil reserve (slowly) wane, new energy commodities will take its place.  Natural Gas maybe the next resource in line that plutocrats "fight" over (and by "fight", I mean send 19-20 year old kids to battle over).

So the US is actively trying to destroy the petrol dollar.  #Backfire #IdiotMarxist

Natural gas is the next big thing.  The US Petro Dollar will always be tied to oil in the immediate future (that why we have drones).......but what to natural gas?  That's what this potential war is all about: what side is going to control one of the biggest gas fields in all of the world (Ukraine....which also is one of the world's best places to grow food, coincidentally).

This will definitely make the summer golf outings between big oil executives of both countires a little more tense, that is for sure.

But in the end, they are laughing at ALL of US.......ALL the way to the bank.

it was said that .. a lot of peope actually believe that Putin is a playing a role in the NWO.  I do not.

"IF" . . . the "new world order" is getting people to sell their labor and manufacturing/production for unsecured scrip. . . while the issuers of that scrip . . . takes that same unsecured scrip . . . and imposes - either by purchase or threat of violence - legal title ownership of anything that comes in contact with this unsecured scrip (because the thing itself is chock full of implied contracts just by using/accepting the scrip). . . THEN any sentient Being(s) or CORP, INC(s)  who  inflicts this scam on other people - either by trickery, coercion or violence – plays a role in the "new world order".

Sanctions, Shmanctions. What did they do? Lower the credit limit on a few DISCOVER cards?

They really aren't sanctions until the entire Russian economy is completely barred from the SWIFT system, as was foolishly done with IRAN.  And look how that ended. Oil bid directly for gold. Oooops, sawry, you can pay in debt again.

Until they do that, it's individual extortion on a very small scale.

The only question that matters is

"Is Putin genuinely opposing Obama and all he represents ?"

How can they seriously believe that any of this childish silliness will change any Russian attitudes or behaviour?  Something else has to be going on, or are they really that stupid?

I'm with you; they can't really be this stupid:

Putin:  "Sorry Europa, but due to US sanctions, we can no longer afford to maintain such long pipelines to your markets.  Please to understand - rust never sleeps!"
