Russia Voices "Disgust" At New US Sanctions, Warns "Won't Go Unanswered"

Tyler Durden's picture

Russia's Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov as come out swinging after US issued a new round of sanctions against citizens and companies of the nation:

  • RUSSIA WON'T LET SANCTIONS GO UNANSWERED: INTERFAX
  • RUSSIAN DEPUTY FOREIGN MINISTER RYABKOV VOICES "DISGUST" AT WHITE HOUSE STATEMENT ON NEW U.S. SANCTIONS -INTERFAX

As we await the European Union's reaction (which the US has said is imminent... hopefully)...

  • *U.S. OFFICIAL CONFIDENT EUROPE WOULD JOIN SECTORAL SANCTIONS

it is the blowback from Russia that is most importance - despite constant protestation by talking-heads on mainstream media channels that any sanctions on Russia will have no impact on US business...

More sanctioned firms and individuals are responding:

  • *ROTENBERG'S STROYGAZMONTAZH SAYS U.S. SANCTIONS NOT LEGITIMATE
  • *STROYGAZMONTAZH SAYS BUSINESS WON'T BE AFFECTED BY SANCTIONS

And here is Jack Lew's remarks...

And this is what Jack Lew had to say...

Statement Of Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, 4/28/2014

Russia’s dangerous and inflammatory actions against Ukraine are illegal and illegitimate.
Since Russia has refused to follow through on its Geneva commitments,
today the United States is following through on its statements – we are
imposing additional costs against Russia, including sanctions on
individuals in the Russian leadership’s inner circle and 17 entities
closely linked to previously sanctioned members of the inner circle.
Today’s targeted actions, taken in close coordination with the EU,
will increase the impact we have already begun to see on Russia’s own
economy as a result of Russia's actions in Ukraine and from U.S. and
international sanctions.

Russian economic growth forecasts have dropped sharply,
capital flight has accelerated and higher borrowing costs reflect
declining confidence in the market outlook.
Our goal continues
to be for Russia to deescalate the situation so that additional
sanctions are not needed. However, we are resolved to continue to work
with our international partners and take the steps required, including
action against individuals and entities in specific sectors, if Russia
continues to press forward.”

Thinking outside the box, ...All these Sanction actions sets up Washington to clamp down harder on its American Citizens utilizing the NSA, NDAA Law, prohibiting public protests, Homeland Security, Fema, CIA, FBI etc....Maybe even reinstituting the Draft. p.s. By the end of May it will be clear to the world that Europe and China face two decades of competing for Russian gas.

Putin is forcing the US to make a decision... convert shale gas to LNG to save Europe from a depression or watch Europe to move closer to Russia.

That will never happen... The logistics are not there, after transport costs the price would be much higher than what the EU is paying today... Russia will stop sending gas to the EU once infrastructure is completed to China and India, but that is some time off. In the mean time we have a Mexican standoff... The sanctions will only accelerate the process of the BRICS dumping the USD for trade and FX...

Very misleading set of articles on sanctions. If capital mattered at all, can you imagine the killing Putin could make through proxies in the options and swaps markets? Capital, when you have POWER is completely irrelevant. All that matters is cash flows. And power controls all cash flows inside its area of control.  All of them.

Putin won't stop sending gas to EU unless circumstances force him to.  They are paying customers and he has no beef with them, he knows that the US is behind all of this BS.  He will be much more diversified and less susceptible to Western games once the China and India pipelines are complete.

The US sanctions are suicide, it wants its war.

This is just theater. In the shadows, I bet TPTB are actually supporting Putin on this because he is effectively driving the cost of ALL energy UP in a world wide recession when the price of energy should be dropping. What's best is TPTB can use this "War Premium" to blame Putin, deflecting the world from their own disasterous Ponzi economics, plus giving a boost to the MIC funding. The sheeple will bitch and moan about paying $4/gallon plus when they fill up, but will blame Putin for it so they ultimately go along, allowing the cost ratchet effect to florish. So the real puppet masters get rich on the redistribution of wealth from the middle and lower classes, and TPTB funnel revenue back to the Security State to keep the same sheeple in line. It's great being a sociopathic banker.

Transport costs of NG from USSA to EU is approximately $6 per 1 m cu ft.

Required US selling price to make current operations profitable is also around $6 per 1 M cu ft.

Required FOB cost for a Euro area delivery is therefore around $12 per 1 m cu ft.

Russia can beat this price.

EU needs to contemplate the fact that USSA has invested over $5 billion USSA "Fiction Buks" to make EU less competitive in world markets and decrease consumer discretionary spending in EU.

World needs to acknowledge that USSA actions are unilateral. There is no UN resolution mandating sanctions against Russia. There is no state consensus on this action.

This action is occuring because Kerry said so (Obummer was out golfing at the time). Rest of world needs to contemplate a unipolar world in which one state is free to print unlimited Fiction Buks, FUCK THE EU and anyone else they choose to fuck over, and manipulate the global financial system in pursuit of its own interests.

The USSA does all of this, shoves NSA up your anal cavity, inspects your groin on a regular basis, lies without any MSM check or exposure, and calls the outcome "Freedom."

In 1776 these same actions triggered a revolution.

Today it's Who is on Dancing with the Stars?

You and I can see that there are sixty ways to cook a potato, they don't though.

Look at them, complete and total disorganized mess.  They've practically taken every wrong step to get a project done.  Not some of highlights of poor project management.  All of them.

  • No head, no leadership, no plan, all of them fighting about nothing instead of doing what is required.  Which is drop individual energy consumption to 3% of current use until a new infrastructure is sorted out and attached to the current infrastructure.  They will kill themselves and everyone else before admitting it though.
  • They chase rat holes instead of focusing on a single objective.  In a perpetual cycle of pretending shadowy objectives put bread on tables and keeping the lights on.
  • When something breaks; instead of troubleshooting, repairing or simply eliminating a bad idea to recover something as precious as time.  They play the blame game or bury it like morons so it can bite them in ass later.  Look around, maintenance hasn't been done in any meaningful way to the tools and technology that run the current society.  Worse yet, the education doesn't match the requirement of keeping any of it running or safe.
  • They are partnership adverse.  As in ALL of them want to be king/queen/grand poopah/Shah/insert meaningless hollow title here.  Why?  Who knows...who cares, doesn't matter.
  • All information is tightly controlled and limited so if any object (person/technology/process) disappears it collapses the same day that object is gone.
  • I could go into budgetary controls that don't mean anything in a long term project because the same people are running their own inflationary noose.  If using 'money' as a metric on project time lines.  They've got less than a month and a half before they have to sharpen their pencil again...then again...then again...then again.
  • Worse, they know.  <--- this part is a little weird.  The closest explanation I could point out is a gambler mindset, that idea of 'just one more day and I'll get my lucky break'.  Instead of stopping to review what's broken, it becomes political.  It's amazingly stupid, funny, but really stupid.

This is what makes me shake my head every time.  They think they get to keep it with the state of affairs at cost to everything else.  That's how stupid things are.  The world managed by delusional fanatics bad at math, lousy at budgeting resources assuming that there is a uhaul behind the hearse.

It does make for great theatre though.  Personally I'm waiting for them to finish themselves off, we won't have to lift a finger because they are all doing for us all by themselves.  So don't help them or offer suggestions, they won't listen anyways.  Let it break.  We as engineers KNOW how to rebuilt it.  And we don't need them to do it, because it's our job to build stuff.

Their job sole job in life, by optics, currently is to break things, lie and wreck themselves.  Our job right now is just stay out of the way and witness stupidity as the future example in order to teach how not to do something.  It'll be much easier building something that lasts when no one is wrecking it while we are building.

So, If they settle down.  Great, we can get started.  If they don't, fuck'em.  We all wait longer and watch the show.

He's right. Look at the evidence around you. The Fed only controls 1/3 of the bond market, and has completely corrupted it. China sells treasuries, and Belgium buys them. The doomsday that was Greece, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, never materialized. The world's CBs are doing everything they can to control 51% of the bond market, because they believe their ponzi will be self-sustaining at that point with their printing presses. Soverign govts are completely bought by the CBs because the CBs are monetizing their debt, so the govts can spend to provide the basics to the sheeple, while expanding the security state to make sure they never revolt. The only thing that will blow this up is a full blown trade/currency war, and that is just starting to show itself as Russian/China/Brics line up on one side and the USSA/West on the other. But even that is far from certain, and I bet neither side really wants the destruction that a full trade/currency/cold or maybe hot war will cause. It will never break until the masses are starving in the streets. We are a LONG way from this going full retard.

Exactly how are they forcing the rest of us into war?

Shouldn't  the folks that live there take the initiative for their own outcomes?

And if they are underarmed, or ill prepared to defend themselves, how is that my issue?

This nation has a 2nd Amendment for a reason.  It's so that we can defend ourselves against enemies both foreign and domestic.

No one says it would be easy, but nothing worth defending is ever easy.

Those that have enjoyed their "disarmed peace dividend" for all these years now have a price to pay.

There is a lesson there for those that are paying attention.

We need to let the rest of the world sort their issues out.

But if they cross the line and mess with the US we need to hit them where it hurts and fast.  No sending Kerry to bend over and compromise.

Rest assured, we are not being forced.  It's what some of the leadership in this country wants to.

If we are at war, they can certainly refuse to pay off all those Treasuries owned by our enemies, right?

Sanctions on Russia

Wait till all the BRIC worms turn............sanctions on the west and watch as the west goes down the tubes............

The west should only throw stones if they are not guilty...................what's the saying...........something about he who cast the first stone.............the more this goes on the more you realise that nothing has changed in the last few centuries................so much for advanced econonies and a better way of life

Those that lived years ago untill they hit about 40 but paid no taxes ...............had a better standard of living than those alive today and pay taxes but............live longer and work longer (so they can pay those taxes)

Talk about a fucked up world we live in

@yogibear

On a warm summer's evenin',
On a train bound for nowhere
I met up with the gambler.
We were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a-starin'
Out the window at the darkness.
When boredom overtook us,
He began to speak.

He said, Son, I've made my life
Out of readin' people's faces.
Knowin' what the cards were
By the way they held their eyes.
So if you don't mind my sayin',
I can see you're out of aces,
For a taste of your whiskey,
I'll give you some advice.

So I handed him my bottle,
And he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette
And asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet,
And his face lost all expression.
He said, If
You're gonna play the game, boy,
You gotta learn to play it right.

You've got to know
When to hold 'em,
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done.

Now every gambler knows
The secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away
And knowin' what to keep.
'Cause every hand's a winner
And every hand's a loser
And the best you can hope for
Is to die in your sleep.

And when he finished speakin',
He turned back toward the window,
Crushed out his cigarette
And faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness,
The gambler he broke even.
And in his final words I found
An ace that I could keep.

You've got to know
When to hold 'em,
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done.

You've got to know
When to hold 'em,
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'
When the dealin's done.

You've got to know
When to hold 'em,
Know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away,
Know when to run.
You never count your money
When you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin'

Perhaps the crony capitalists and their political minions believe that the only way to top being "really good at killing people" with drones is to murder millions.

No law, no morals, no ethics and no accountability, for "Just Us".

The beltway buffoons actions and statements are imitative of unpleasantly plump teenagers strutting around acting and thinking that they are experienced combat soldiers and leaders because they know how to play a video game.

The West is being run by criminally insane political madmen hell-bent on starting a war Russia. Obama and Kerry are both out of their depth and probably not taking the decisions. It's all exactly as the neocons set-out under GW Bush. Western old MSM is egging them on and acting as the conduit for anti-Russian lies and propaganda to prepare the citizenry for war with the "bad guys".

If they succeed against Putin, next will be China. Then, the whole world will be run by criminally insane madmen and banksters. The cost of this madness will cause Western economies to collapse even faster than now and the door will be open to introduce a hard line domestic corporatist/fascist police state. If they lose, we won't be here talking about it. The risks are enormous. Not one single action in all this has been subject to any sort of democratic scrutiny or accountability.

The amount of stupidity and naivety on this forum is astounding.

The idea that China and Russia are best friends is laughable.

If the West says to China, "hey yellow man, half of Russia ---- the one with the insane amounts of oil and gas is yours, because after all you have a lot of yellow skinheads living in Siberia, and they sure do deserve their Crimeea moment, after all the Russia's white man oppression ---- is yours for the taking", I bet China becomes best friends with the West.

China is actually best friends with the West. All the children of the mega rich and all Communist Party Members are educated in Western universities.

Also all the billions they stole from their citizens are hidden in Swiss banks and other "safe-havens" controlled by the West.

You must be some limps dicks here on Zerohedge, to actually root so much for Putin. A small, bald midget, that likes to ride horses naked and tries soo hard to hide his homosexuality.

How the hell you people think Putin is anti-NWO is beyond reason. Putin is just a puppet of the NWO just as Barrack Obama and David Cameroon are.

You people are like all the Ed Snowden groupies that really believe the mainstream media story on him being a whistleblower and not some psy op done by the CIA.

To actually think that Washington Post and The Guardian, and now CNN and NY Times made him famous, and yet somehow he needs to  be viewed as a hero and a whistleblower is stupid.

The MSM never make anti-system guys and real whistleblowers heroes. NEVER.

Calm down a bit.

First I never said Russia and China were best friends, but I also know that 1 : chinese (not all of course) despise Americans much more than they do Russians, and indeed they will overall back up Russia in this thing.

But anyway, the US is so bipolar and full to the hilt of propaganda, utterly vulgar, so no  reason to bother.

No air support without lots and lots and lots of avgas.

No avgas in Euroland unless bought from outside supplier.

30% of Euroland energy needs supplied by Russia.

Ergo in the attempt to waste Russia from the air the USSA will need to enrich Russia.

WHAT IF ... ?????

What would happen to the U.S. dollar if, tomorrow, Putin announced that ALL future oil and gas sales from Russia could be purchased using ANY CURRENCY?

It seems to me that the "petro-dollar" would collapse. After all, why would ANY country henceforth need to purchase U.S. dollars (as they currently must do for purchases), when they could use their own currency AND save money by not having to pay to convert their currency into dollars (FOREX)? The demand for U.S. dollars would drop dramatically and the U.S. would be F&%$ed.

NOTE: Technically the "United States" is the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT only, which is in fact a coroprate TRUST created by the various states through their ratification of the Constitution. The GRANTORS were the states, with the U.S. government as the TRUSTEE and the PEOPLE as the BENEFICIARIES.(Whether one accepts the argument that the U.S. governmentin 1871 was taken over as a PRIVATE CORPORATION incorporated in Delaware and headquarted in Scotland is a matter for another discussion.)

There was NO such entity as a "U.S. citizen" until the 14th Amendment. The TWO requirements for U.S. citizenship are that: (1) a person be born (or naturalized) in the U.S. AND (2) be subject to the jurisdiction of the U.S. government. LOOK IT UP FOR YOURSELF !!! Prior to the 1870's people used to call themselves a citizen of their state OR an "American citizen" - NEVER a "U.S. citizen" as that term did not even exist.

When a person states that he is a U.S. citizen, he is voluntarily confirming that he is UNDER THE JURISDICTION of the U.S. government (as a corporate entity) and is waiving his natural rights guaranteed by the Constitution. Again, see CONDITION #2 above: one is declaring that the U.S. government has jurisdiction over you! And even today (according to Supreme Court rulings) a man or woman born in America can be a "citizen of a state" WITHOUT being a "U.S. citizen"; and even that a person born in America can be NEITHER a "state citizen" nor a "U.S. citizen"; and thereby is NOT bound by state or federal statutes, but ONLY by the Common Law. That man would be protected by the Constitution but NOT subject to it or any state or federal statutes; AND would retain ALL of his natural rights under the Common Law.

That is why I paid NO federal income taxes for many years, but paid state income taxes in Virginia and later Massachusetts. Further, I received tax refunds from the IRS every year on federal gasoline taxes I paid. And it was all entirely legal! As for my U.S. PASSPORT, that was also easy. In fact, any American can apply for a U.S. passport as a "state citizen but NOT a U.S. citizen" - there is even a BOX on the passport applicatiion form to check!  The key is knowing that the term "United States" has at least 3 different legal meanings (according to the Supreme Court) and perhaps as many as 6 different meanings (according to some legal scholars).

Since the 1970's I have NEVER called myself a "U.S. citizen"; only an "American citizen".
