IMF Warns Ukraine: Fight For The East Or No Money

Tyler Durden's picture

IMF approved the $17bn tranched loan to Ukraine last night, Gazprom gets paid; Ukraine gets its cash; and the door's wide open for the US and EU to pour more 'controlling influence' into the divided nation... Except there's one thing:

  • IF UKRAINE GOVERNMENT LOSES EFFECTIVE CONTROL OVER EAST OF COUNTRY, $17 BLN IMF BAILOUT WOULD NEED TO BE REDESIGNED

Which, roughly translated, appears to mean go to war with pro-Russian forces (and thus Russia itself if Putin sees his apparent countrymen in trouble) or you don't get your money!

Some other items of note include:

  • *IMF URGES UKRAINE TO REACH PRICE ACCORD WITH GAZPROM BY SEPT
  • *UKRAINE INFLATION MAY JUMP TO 16.2% THIS YEAR, IMF SAYS
  • *RUSSIA'S GAS PRICE INCREASE MAY WEAKEN HRYVNIA: IMF STAFF

Indeed.  This is the "money shot", pun intended, that shows who exactly pulls the strings on all of these conflicts.  Where is our "Jesus" to stave off the money changers?  We can only save ourselves in the end, no one is coming to save anyone...

And by true colors you mean blue bars on a white background with a 6 pointed star in the middle?

EDIT: I guess the downvoter believes it to be a red shield then?  The one instrumental in setting up the above colors?  Yeah that's gotta be it.

True, but the timing between debt money offered and outright dictation of a country's acts usually is not so out in the open and so quickly directed after the debt offering.  The banksters be getting desperate.

I think that is the problem Doc, the IMF is a very nebulus organization. Sure there is the handbag lady, but the blame gets put on the local leader who has to sell off infrastructure at firesale prices to pay back the IMF loans.  Until nationalism returns in a big way, this is their playbook.  Take an over leveraged country, implode it, loan it conjured up funny money, implode it again, then take possession of real assets with more conjured up funny money and make the people that live their debt serfs on lands they once owned.

The IMF has emerged from the global crisis bigger and more powerful. But this column argues that the capital controls it required Iceland to adopt in 2008 are not of the soft and cuddly modern type that slow hot money flows. Instead they are akin to the draconian controls common in the 1950s. They violate the civil rights of Icelanders and significantly hamper economic growth.

pretty good article in the Guardian the other day on Russia/Ukraine:

http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2014/apr/30/russia-ukraine-war-kiev-conflict

I don't think you have to believe Putin to be the Second Coming to get the sense that the MSM is more or less doing the same war propagandizing they did in the Run up to Iraq.  I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, given the concerted effort to lie us into wars with Syria and Iran - but I am.

I find it very hard to listen to friends and family, smart people, uncritically recite what they read in the NYT or what they see on CNN.  The same people who would recognize RT as having a pro-Russian slant, or who would mock Fox news as "right wing" tripe, seem blissfully unaware that the news sources they rely on are, at best, just as biased, and at worst, essentially printing what the US State Department and/or CIA {or Mossad in some instances...} is telling them to.

The repeated efforts in Syria to pin gas attacks on Assad, the fact the US is openly arming Salafist psychopaths who behead and crucify people, who openly declare they want to establish a strict Islamist state devoid of Christians and other minorities, doesn't seem to impact, at all, the understanding the chattering class has of Assad as "butcher" and the Obama regime as worried about human rights and democracy.  The same regime that rewards Israel for what it sanction other states for doing.  The same regime that has claimed the right to execute Americans anywhere, at any time, if the President 'suspects' they may be 'aiding' 'terror' groups.

The American people aren't going to rebel.

They are going to rot.

The IMF is a global slave master. They use plantation economics, only in a way that only bankers can dream up. They look like they are coming to rescue the Ukraine, with 17 billion dollars, a loan, a loan that will be serviced for most people's life times. Any wealth creation in the economy and state assets will all flow to the IMF's chosen people. The people of the East are smart enough now, thanks to Russian media and the internet to know what the IMF is and what it is going to mean. Debt slavery and the taking apart of East Ukrainan industry so German industry can fill the gap. Million or more will lose thier jobs, the money saved will go to service the IMF and Germany will replace the production. A new 44 million person captive market, vendor financed via the IMF. Imagine Greece, how it fell into a hell hole, then imagine Ukraine, same game, same winners, same losers.

NATO is the mafia enforcement gang for the EU Banker classes and the IMF chosen ones. In the end, until bankers are taken down by a world wide mass movement, they will laugh at us all and steal us blind. IMF is the focus of evil in the modern world, yet "YATS" the coup leader of Kiev is happy to enslave 44 million people. Study YATS, and see where his loyalties lie. I bet you can guess, him and Nuland, a pefect couple.

Lucent basically went bankrupt when they resorted to vendor financing to "fix" the books.  Russia was on the road to likewise when it organized to loan $15B to the Ukraine.

The US sells little to the Ukraine and has little to offer.  Seems rather stupid to be involved here.  Let the EU and Russia figure this one out.

Lastly, why is the US, through the IMF, funding Europe so heavily now?  WWII ended a long time ago.

IMF is now the advance cadres of the American Empire. I noted their fine work in Yugoslavia in the early 90's, which ended up in a civilized socialist country (according to the Yugoslavians I knew) becoming an ethnic killing ground that ended up a US Army occupied zone. Got to get the nations on the periphery into the core so the neoliberal have more resources and people under their control.

*IMF URGES UKRAINE TO REACH PRICE ACCORD WITH GAZPROM BY SEPT

Why September, why not July or August?

The only major world event I can think of is the Scottish independence referendum vote to break away from Great Britain is scheduled for September 18th. Is this related maybe since it could cause some serious problems with the banking system if RBS goes 'independent'.

Wrong. Germans have their direct gas line called the Nord stream. The Polish take the brunt of that gas shutdown along with the peripheries like Slovakia and Hungary. And if they really want to put the squeeze on NATO and the EU they will have Belarus cut off the gas to Poland also at the same time. Winter is part of it but really isn't Western Europe that freezes, more like their economies come to grinding halt because that extra gas is needed to power the economy. They get enough elsewhere to keep the heat on if needed.

Whether they choose to if forced at that point to keep the economies from crashing at the expense of freezing people to death well who knows until that bridge needs to be crossed but based on recent history I would assume they will do just that but try to hide it while doing it.

Without the East , Ukraine not eonomically viable for justifying IMF loan.  Similarly, without East, Russia military industrial complex and Ukraine industry suffers major setback as would Russian  Black Sea navel fleet without Crimea.

Sounds like there is reason enough to fight although IMF has no Army and Nato lacks will to fight knowing EU economy dependant on Russian energy would collapse. Since unelected Kiev government already indicated they are unable to control events in East,  Russia has huge advantage going into May 25 elections.  Therefore future focus will be on election process and how elections will be conducted in various regions.  This could lead to violence which would prompt Russian intervention. Next three weeks will be crucial for future of Ukraine.  In meantime talk of sanctions are irrelavant as effect of sanctions would not be felt until after elections.

Things can go from bad to worse in less than a day. Most living Americans haven't seen war and we don't know enough to be frightened or prepared. If a Russian war spills into the US, (and why shouldn't it? We started it) Americans will be unprepared and many will starve to death. Please, if you can, stock up on fuel, food, meds, drink and supplies. Have a garden. Have somewhere to go in the event of an attack. CYA doesn't hurt.

I hope these folks have considered the fact that a war fought in Ukraine would be like, right next door...Europe doesn't really have a track record of doing very well during superpower conflicts, and it's not like we here in America are going to be fighting in the streets of downtown Manhattan...it's all going to be happening in THEIR neighborhood.

The European countries might want to slap a muzzle on the IMF before they find themselves being dragged into something very unpleasant. The last big war left the place a hell of a mess you know...

If the model here is the IMF's heavy involvement in the breakup of Yugoslavia, none of the fighting spilled over into the next door nations. Indeed, Albania kept pumping thugs into the country before and after the US military occupied several regions. The last gasp was when the Albanian Mafia tried to reproduce their success in neighboring Macedonia. The government kicked ass and the US didn't send in the Air Force, so that didn't go anywhere.

Keep to the script and it will stay a low-level conflict mostly fought for news stories.

On the other hand, at that time Russia was led by a drunken patsy leading a self-destructive privitization orgy. Things are a little different this time...

THE LIE: "Background Radiation" is High, Therefore More Radiation Doesn't Matter Much

In some areas, Radon is not completely avoidable. Mostly it seeps into basements. Radon ventilation systems are very effective, they can reduce this amount at least 50% and maybe 80%, just depends how much air you want to move. So instead of a 37% of your exposure if you reduce that 80% it is 7.5%, plus 5% cosmic, and 3% soil, that is 15%. So by "so called 'natural sources" like med procedures, nuke medicine, those items are jacking up your dose like 400% to 700% from where is could be "naturally". the whole natural radiation lie, unravels as a complete joke... about half of us will contract cancer in our lives, and yet you can't prove that any one source caused it. Therefore by the "Scientific Method" radiation cannot be proven to be unsafe, therefore the PNPs Pro Nuke Pimps will state that "natural radiation" is proven to be safe, and therefore a little extra disaster radiation is OK too. Check the chart closely, the PNP lies immediately emerge.

From an American now living in Ukraine:

WHY does the IMF make this demand?

The IMF is REALLY after the assets of Ukraine. And the major assets of industry and mining are in the eastern region. The other major asset is farm land, which in in the central region (extending north-south).

The regions currently under the control of the post-coup Kiev government are: the western region (a poor area with no real production of any kind) and the region in the north-center around Kiev (which has some agriculture, but no real industry).

THEREFORE: in order for the IMF to gain control of the MOST VALUABLE ASSETS in Ukraine (which they can then sell of to the West), it is essential that the Kiev government have possession of the eastern and central (north-south) regions of Ukraine. And these are the very regions (extremely pro-Russian) most likely to secede from Ukraine.

In other words, if Kiev is unable to hand over the eastern and central (north-south) regions of Ukraine to the IMF, then what iremains of Ukraine is of relatively little economic value the IMF.

Let's stay in the realm of monothesism since the oldest bloodlines and entities are most concerned over this. The 'elites' love them some pure inbreed bloodlines all competition not only needs to have it's history either destroyed or rewritten but the bloodlines need to be extinguished also. So how does this tie into today and Islam and The Vatican specifically and Catholism in general.

As I've touched on briefly after the Jewish revolt and second destruction of the temple the Romans basically taxed Hebrews out of existence with the majority converting to Apostolic Christianity or going pagan/underground. The majority jews left were Samaritan circumsized gentiles. That is how the pod people took over Judaism, through dillution of purity kind of like how inflation works with purchasing power. They then went on to bastardize the Old Testament changing the name of God where convenient among other bastardizations, Jew would have held the name of God sacred and would never change the name once god told Moses directly what his name was for example. These supposed pure Hebrew Masoretic then translated in Latin from the same text written works are the basis for the Old Testament used by the Catholic Church and in the Koran for that matter. "Words of God". Now what if you had a 'holy' book that directly and conclusively contradicts those translations and proves it well there is it is called the Septuagint which is known to have been translated before the fall of the 2nd temple in Koine Greek from Hebrew . So these pod people jews later converted Khazars in the empire of Khazaria (where modern day Ukraine resides) to this bastardized Masoretic text version of Judaism.

Guess who knocked out the Khazars and took their lands, Russia.

What else does Russia then and now have in common they are primarily Christian Orthodox, the Orthodox church uses the Septuagint as source for the Old Testament. Same with the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Greek Orthodox Church.

So you can see why all 3 would have a hard on for the Russians here besides the nation state fronts and typical resource geopolitical stuff. This goes to the very heart of empires and belief here.

This whole charade that we orchestrated is now compelling the innocents of Ukraine into civil war over money? The mask is completely off at this point..so if they are not interested in peace in the nation and not interested stability because they are advocating the opposite then what is their interest? The Borg just wants to assimilate another slave nation.
Who are we as a nation any longer?
I'm glad China is getting a birds eye view and an important lesson of how to prepare accordingly for when their time comes. I question if these recent events over there in China are a pre-emotive distraction to keep their eye off Ukraine and warn them about getting further in bed with Russia.

Russia Challenges EU Energy Market Rules

http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/russia-challenges-eu-energ...

Russia has filed a complaint against the European Union's energy market laws claiming they violate international rules, the World Trade Organization said Thursday.

Among the stakes in the challenge to EU policy are how much control Russia's state-controlled gas company, Gazprom, will be able to exert over European pipelines and the degree to which Europe can diversify its supply lines.

Russia's case takes aim at the EU's so-called Third Energy Package, a bundle of laws that bans suppliers from owning transit facilities, such as pipelines. The laws took effect in September 2009 with the aim of opening up European gas and electricity markets.

In particular, the EU laws will affect the South Stream pipeline, in which Russia's Gazprom holds a 50 percent stake. The pipeline is due to provide gas from Russia to Bulgaria, Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria and Italy by running under the Black Sea and circumventing Ukraine. It is expected to ship up to 63 billion cubic meters of gas from 2018.

European officials have warned Gazprom it would have to allow third-party gas producers to use the South Stream pipeline to comply with its new regulations. Russia is Europe's third-largest trading partner and its biggest gas and oil supplier, providing Europe with about a quarter of its gas.

Russia argues that the EU regulations are "inconsistent" with international trade rules on subsidies, services and other measures, the WTO says. The next step is for Russian-EU diplomats to try to settle their differences through consultations at the WTO. After that, an arbitration panel could be set up.

According to a WTO statement, the dispute focuses on the production, supply and transmission of natural gas or electricity, alleged discriminatory certification requirements, and access to network capacity by transmission service operators. The Geneva-based WTO oversees the rules of trade between nations that affect the flow of goods and services, exports and imports.

Not to say I told you so but...

Well, Okay.  I told you so.

Putin's "US can stop this at any time." BS has once again been revealed for what it is - BS.

The Ukraine crisis is a very simple story.

EUROPE: "We must have alternate suppliers".

PUTIN: "No."

EUROPE: "Ukraine will lease us transport on their pipelines this year! (2008)"

PUTIN: "No they won't."

EUROPE: "Yes they will! The energy will be coming from central asia via Azerbaijan and Abkhasia, Georgia."

PUTIN: "No they won't.  I've just invaded Georgia, and shut off the energy to Ukraine.  They will do as they are told."

EUROPE:  "Then we'll buy it from Africa via Libya."

PUTIN: "No you won't. North Africa is about to descend into a series of Civil Wars. You'll buy it from me or you won't have it.  Now give me an Olympics, and shine my shoes."

EUROPE: "You'll piss off the US."

PUTIN: "So what?"

EUROPE: "There will be bombings."

PUTIN: "So what? They are mentally and morally weak. I'll have their ambassador killed, and they will go back to their side of the world and hide."

EUROPE: "Fine.  We'll get it from the Gulf."

PUTIN: "No you won't."

EUROPE:  "Yes we will.  You can't attack Turkey without WWIII. And except for 100 miles through Syria, the land is all in friendly hands.  You'll lose this time."

PUTIN: "No I won't.  Syria is my ally."

EUROPE: "Assad won't be in power forever.  In fact, he may already have lost ... coincidentally."

PUTIN: "No he didn't. He has powerful friends.  Me."

EUROPE: "If there are WMD there, the Americans will come."

PUTIN: "No they won't.  You are on your own."

EUROPE: "About Ukraine doing as it is told... Well, the thing is, people in the West like us more than you."

PUTIN: "So what? I have an Army.  You have Bankers.  The Americans are far away.  I win."
