Dozens Of CIA, FBI Agents "Advising Ukraine Government", German Press Reports
Now that the situation in Ukraine has officially been upgraded to "war", what really happens on the ground will remain largely wrapped by the fog of war on either side, with just one thing assured: a war it may be but more than anything it is a proxy war - one in which both western and Russian interests are manifest in the fighting, and killing, of mostly innocent civilians in Ukraine - a carbon copy replica of what happened last year in Syria.
The latest reminder of just this comes from AFP which reports, citing Germany's Bild, that "dozens of specialists from the US Central Intelligence Agency and Federal Bureau of Investigation are advising the Ukrainian government."
Citing unnamed German security sources, Bild am Sonntag said the CIA and FBI agents were helping Kiev end the rebellion in the east of Ukraine and set up a functioning security structure.
It said the agents were not directly involved in fighting with pro-Russian militants. "Their activity is limited to the capital Kiev," the paper said.
The FBI agents are also helping the Kiev government fight organised crime, it added.
A group specialised in financial matters is to help trace the wealth of former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych, according to the report.
On the surface, this report is hardly surprising: we reported a month ago, subsequently confirmed by the White House, that CIA director Brennan had "secretly" visited Kiev in early April. It stands to logic that he was hardly alone and continuing the proud tradition of Libya, Egypt and Syria, the CIA was merely getting started unfolding the agency's core competency: regional destabilization.
What is very surprising is that Germany's press is finally stepping away from the western media propaganda umbrella and starting to report the side of the narrative that is in direct opposition to US interests in either Ukraine, or Germany.
So just who, and why, is pulling the strings on Germany's media outlets in a way that goes against the official Merkel fiction, if in agreement with Germany's commercial and industrial interests (as well as those of Europe's commission himself)?
And how soon before Germany's position, one clearly against the imposition of further sanctions on Russia and the additional alienation of the Kremlin, puts Germany on direct collision course with Obama and the US state department? And what then: will Germany, shunned by the US, have no choice but to reallign with the ascendent Eurasian axis of China and Russia. Stay tuned.

If Germany were to buy gold in size, large amounts, that would likely do tremendous damage to the US$. That is something Germany should consider if it is true that they really want their gold back.*

Germany has no gold, it belongs to the IMF/UN. Germany in fact has no government, they are still under occupation. They are just a mark on the books. Sometimes the IMF lets their gold stay in Germany allowing them to believe it is theirs and at other times it is moved to NY and London or Paris for "safe" keeping.

All other things being equal, tapering means less nearly free money to the Treasury. As I understand it, currency swaps with say the ECB could be used to offset tapering, and it wouldn't increase the monetary base. But if the Fed is criminal, I think they could easily be interested in crashing the world economy at this stage in order to reduce demand for oil, Russia's major export. They could accomplish that by tightening liquidity. US Treasury interest rates could be kept low by letting the stock market crash. I'm not saying that's likely but it's certainly possible.

In spite of the echo chamber here, I have figured for a while that there must be Ukrainians who don't want to join the Putin club. My question, though: when you say "we", which city or oblast are you speaking for? I would imagine people in Lviv probably do feel like Russia is the only danger, but those people in Kramatorsk yesterday certainly looked like they were being endangered by the Ukrainian government.

I am an American living in Kiev. I learned Russian because Ukrainian is not of much use. A minor language that would have painted me into a linguistic backwater. There are more books published here in Russian than Ukrainian. The major business publications and newsmagazines are more in Russian. Not to speak Russian would be like not speaking English in Ireland.
Kiev is the capital. The best and brightest come here from all over the country. My friends have self-selected for brains but not geography. They are from Crimea, Donetsk, Odessa, Kherson, Kharkiv and Lugansk. Many grew up in the Soviet Union. They know the Russians and they absolutely do not want to live under them. The people they left behind in their hometowns are more easily swayed. And intimidated. Russia is employing vast amounts of both intimidation and propaganda, and it is having an effect.

So, who messed with the US elections? The likely candidates are the Chinese, Russians, Saudis, British, etc.
My point is Putin will not go to war over the low level fracas in the Ukraine. If a proper civil war can get started, he might enter. If it stays low level, Russia will not be the first to enter the fight.
I believe Putin was part of the financial engineering team that got Obama elected. Putin and the team of investors have invested much to get Obama to rule over America. They are not going to make Obama look bad, just prior to the mid-term elections. What is the point of getting your man in power only to nip his authority at a time when he can most exercise it for your benefit.
