Live From WalMart, Obama Discusses Minimum Wage In The Heart Of Silicon Valley - Live Feed
In perhaps the most ironic telepromptering ever, President Obama is visiting a WalMart in the heart of the West Coast money bubble today - after attending a number of multi-thousand-dollar-per-plate fund-raisers in the last 24 hours - and intends to discuss minimum wage in Mountain View today (among the Maseratis and Lambos). As Walmart Pres & CEO Bill Simon notes, its the first time a sitting US President has visited a Walmart.

I was in south side Chicago last night running a 7 pm sales call. I just saw on the news there were 15 shootings in six hours between 9 pm and 3 am. When they showed the map of shooting locations 8 of them were within 10 blocks of my sales call. I did two rolling red lights where I look both ways as the natives were walking up on my car. What a way to make a living. Thank God for legal concealed carry these days. Where is the outrage when blacks slaughter other blacks? Where is Jesse" I wanna push a rainbow" Jackson? Where is Al Sharpton? Where is Rev Wright? Tell you what, may want to buy a funeral home down there. Dying to get in I'd say. But the president is worried about minumum wage? Really? Why not worry about your brothers killing each other? Are you not your brothers keeper? Guess not. Party on. My over/under on the killings for this weekend in the city if it stays warm is 20 dead. We will see. It is cooling off some.
While I'm strongly against raising the minimum wage because it will make America less competitive and slow job growth, I concede the debate is destined to continue until it is raised. I hereby state without a doubt, the minimum wage will go up! Polls show a majority of Americans support this idea.
It is my feeling that many people believe the myth this will put more money into the consumers pocket and create economic growth. They fail to recognize it will also spark inflation while reducing opportunity. New twist and wrinkles are being added by the White House and supporters of this increase every week. Expanding the number of workers eligible for overtime pay is another attempt to push this along. Unfortunately much of the impact and pain will directly fall upon small business the real creator of jobs. More on this subject in the article below.
