Ukraine Scrambles Fighter Jets, Intercepts Airplane Carrying Russian Deputy Premier

Tyler Durden's picture

A few short hours ago, a Russian delegation which contained the deputy premier of Russia Dmitry Rogozin was flying back from Moldova's capital Chisinau following his visit to Tiraspol as part of May 9 celebrations, when Ukraine scrambled fighter jets to intercept the Yak-42 carrying the Russian vice premier and forced it to promptly land back in Moldova.

The reason why this is surprising is that Rogozin was well aware in advance of taking off that Ukraine had closed its airspace to the Russian delegation.

But the punchline is that while Rogozin managed to fly into Moldova over Romanian airspace, on his return the EU and NATO member country served him with a surprise - it followed in Ukraine's footsteps and blocked off its airspace to the Russian Deputy PM as well.

So suddenly Rogozin found himself unable to access the airspace of either Ukraine or Romania. Which is a problem, because as the map below shows, Moldova has a contiguous border with just these two countries, and in effect if both neighbors block their airspace to Russians in the country, there is no way to depart.

So what does Rogozin do? Precisely what the outspoken member of the US counter-Russia sanctions list would be expected to do:

Sadly for him, it did not work out quite as expected:

Here is a map showing the moment when the Russian Yak was met by Ukraine Migs:

This is how the Moldovan website Actualiti described the incident:

Aircraft of Vice Premier of the Russian Federation Dmitry Rogozin was intercepted by a Ukrainian MiG after he entered the airspace of Ukraine, reports Actualiti.md

Earlier, the Deputy Prime Minister said that he would still fly to Moscow via Ukraine.

"I am taking off despite the ban," - wrote Rogozin in social networks.

Rogozin flew on board the Yak -42 (aka RUS-Jet) from Chisinau airport.

Actualitati.md recalls that Ukraine refused to allow its airspace to Russian officials. To Dmitry Rogozin, May 8 was in Tiraspol, the board was forced to fly through Bulgaria and Romania.

The Vice PM was not the only one who was forced to return. According to Gazeta.ru, Ukraine also intercepted the flight of the Russian culture minister Vladimir Medinsky.

Ukrainian authorities have blocked and did not allow passage through its airspace the plane on which was the Russian delegation headed by the Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky which was returning from Chisinau to Moscow, according to the minister's Twitter account.

"Our aircraft with the Russian delegation was ordered to return to Chisinau , threatened by a forced landing in Ukraine " - said Medinsky.

The minister said that Ukraine previously allowed overflights . In Bawtry is on the State Duma delegation includes , Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Government.

However, before Ukraine pats itself on the back for its success in keeping the Russians landlocked, Rogozin sent out the following tweet supposedly next to Moscow's airport Domodedovo, where he praised the efficiency of the Russian "Military-Industrial commission" in finding alternative paths:

Of course, had this little incident escalated and the Russian's plane had been shot down, something tells us those who were furiously selling VIX on Friday afternoon to paint the tape with a record Dow Jones high, would be in a bit of a pickle coming Monday.

Still, while this incident was contained, the big one remains: tomorrow's referendum which is still going ahead as planned and following which it is only a matter of time before East Ukraine, now independent, requests Russian "peacekeepers" to enter the country and, well, keep the peace.

Just dinner theater, people.  the puppet masters are running the show, not these figurehead heads of state.  When one views these stories through that lens, a lens which sees that those puppet masters are unequivocally united and have dominion over all major states and governments, these stories start to become the shallow theatrical performances which they truly are. See through this facade and look to the much bigger agenda at work here.  A single world government and monetary authority cannot exist in the presence of any single nation capable of withdrawing from it or militarily opposing it.  The goal was, is, and continues to be single-world government and, thus, a unipolar world operated at the whim of the few at the cost of the many.  See it for what it is, then look for how you can oppose and fight back.  First and foremost, you must withdraw yourself and your support, in all forms, from their game.

I may be uninformed, but just who are these "puppet masters"?  They have to be breathing, walking people, don't they? Is there a list of them somewhere?

It would seem to me that people who want to bring down the criminal cabal that is "running the show" would begin removing these people from the world. You'd think with all of the action-adventure "good guy loner patriot takes out bad guy politician or oligarchs" would be happening all the time, huh?

Why is that not happening?   Sort of like the Kennedy thing, Huh?

 Yes

the "context".

So, if during the most recent 15 years:

Those were Russian, intead of US military bases in foreign countries all over the world,

if Russia proclaimed a right to initiate self-defined "humanitarian" or "preventive" military actions,

if Russia had a global network of 'black sites' where nationals from every country could be renditioned and tortured,

if  NATO had been established to oppose the USA, and Russia headed it,

if Russia  headed  the IMF and backed global banking frauds,

if Russia had invaded and occupied Iraq and Afghanistan,

if Russia were the chief ally of wahhabist Saudi Arabia, crime center Kosovo, and drug centers Colombia, Mexico, and Afghanistan,

if Russia was assassinating people with drones in Pakistan, Yemen, and elsewhere,

if Russian leaders had visited the Ukraine to collaborate and finance the overthrow of an elected government,

if Russia had sent the head of its secret police and agents to assist the Ukraine putsch to suppress dissenters,

... then I suppose, "in context", you would  blame global mischief on the USA ,

and yet again, given that imagined scenario, we would also disagree.

if Russia...

Do you realize Russia has no friends? Russia lives in a perpetual state of isolation. Russia is fine with that.

There is a reason why the USA has a large footprint in the world. Every nation in the world sends their best and brightest to the USA. Maybe "sends" is not the correct word... those individuals "choose" to go to America and live their dream.

As a result, every struggle in the world affects some American citizen or community of citizens. On a local scale, these communities of citizens within the USA express their rights. If they find other communities of citizens within America support them, they hustle to build consensus and voila, it is in the USA's geopolitical interest to become involved in the geopolitical issue.

Russia cannot progress economically and politically because of systemic corruption. Corruption exists in all countries. In Russia, it operates at a whole new level. The end result is the subjects of Putin defer to him and leave Russia, if they can.

Russians bow their head and herd up. That is their nature. No one looks where they are going or who is leading them. That is deadly in business, and international politics.

nobody comes to america except the trash.  if you live in any part of the world and have an education and a good family and decent employment - you did not come to 'america'.  and that's been the case for almost 400 years.  the country is built on religious fanatics, slaves, prisoners and uneducated, desperate trash.  that's why we are so stupid, violent and uneducated, we are the wild west, we live by violence and stupidity and will continue to do so, until stopped.  and we will eventually be stopped.

why are we the 'police force' of the world?  for the big banks and big corporations of usa.  nothing more.  stop lying to yourself.  and as long as we continue to fund their rape of the universe, they will leave us alone (relative to the other parts of the world).  as soon as we stop buying into them, the rape begins at home, and the trash that works for them don't care about anybody else.

'There is a reason why the USA has a large footprint in the world.'

Yes there is, the US has a huge military and loves to invade other countries and carry out regime change to further its own interest, in short it has a huge footprint because it has large hobnailed boots on that it likes to use to kick the crap out of other countries. It is not that the US is deliberately trying to do evil, it simply has the idea that it can force its will on other countries by force and is not too worried about the body count as long as it is not US citizens. That pretty well sums up US foreign policy.

Yats’ Bela-Kun-like Junta is beyond savagery. Medical jet due to pick up badly wounded RT stringer denied landing in Ukraine

Edited time: May 10, 2014 15:12

A German medical jet which was to be hired by RT TV channel in order to pick up RT’s stringer, critically wounded during a military operation in Mariupol, was denied landing in the eastern Ukrainian city, gripped by unrest.

A 23-year-old cameraman on RT’s Ruptly team was wounded during the armed assault of Kiev’s army on Mariupol police HQ on Friday. Currently he is fighting for his life in hospital, doctors say that he is in a serious condition. In spite of his bulletproof vest the cameraman sustained a serious injury in the abdomen.

A resident in Mariupol saw the RT journalist being wounded.

“Your employee was on [Georgievskaya] street,” not far from the Internal Affairs HQ building where the fighting took place the resident said.

“We were approximately 300-400 meters away from the Internal Affairs HQ building. Your journalist was showing to the armed people in masks that he had no arms on him and that he was with the press, that he was a journalist. Then he tried to cross the street, and that’s when the shot was made, and he fell down.” …

JB Ditto.

The only thing i'll add to what you just said is that their is still sand running through that "hour glass" to make it change.

I keep looking at the pictures and videos of those Ukrainian women using there own bodies to stop a tank knowing full well that the guy in that 30 ton piece of armor could roll over them just like that -but they do it anyway!

Let's hope when that happens to us we have that much courage and audacity to "say enough", and if you decide to kill me the numbers that follow me along with the odds are against you!!!

I don't think it's a good idea to wait to be called a coward while somebody else does your dirty job for you of stopping what you started either directly or indirectly...

So maybe this Nation of cowards can suprise itself by taking the initiative to stop now what they've ignored for far too long and that may be unalterable?!!!

More color on the story from the Voice of Russia.  According to them, the US using their Romanian and Ukranian proxies got outsmarted again.

Russian deputy PM's plane forced out of Ukraine air space by warplanes

'Earlier on Saturday, Rogozin said both Ukraine and Romania were denying him permission to fly over their territory. "Romania has closed its air space to my plane at the demand of the United States. Ukraine again refuses to let it through," he tweeted...

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said he had returned to Moscow from Moldova even though his plane had been forced to fly back to Chisinau by Ukrainian interceptors.

"Ukrainian interceptor aircraft forced our plane to make a U-turn," Rogozin wrote in his Twitter account on Saturday, May 10.

Several minutes later he added "But the defense industry has its own trails. I am already in Moscow. And the [Kiev] junta left in the basket." To prove his words, Rogozin posted a photo of himself in front of Moscow’s Domodedovo airport.

The Russian Embassy in Chisinau told TASS that Rogozin must have travelled to Russia by a regular flight and was not on the plane intercepted over Ukraine.'

Yulia the Gas Queen of Ukraine flexing her muscles. As I mentioned in other posts, Ukraine is under orders to provoke Russia into action, and this will not stop at small cases like this airspace conflict. Nope, Kiev's Coup leades are following ordes from the CIA, who are in fact, the coup government. They must force Russia across the bordes in order to gain the pretext for a NATO invasion and occupation of all Ukraine, minus Crimea, even NATO does not want to be nuked.

This is exactly right. They've been trying to openly provoke since Syria, and the extent of the media involvement shows how deep the psyops are.

And whatever you think of the Russian state at this point, there are plenty of negatives, they are trying to prevent WWIII and have shown near impossible restraint. With all this provocation (mortars today it seems) Russian officials are having to think very deeply and plan actions carefully.

All we can hope for now is to avoid WWIII and that the American/NATO forces thin themselves enough that when revolution brings down the States there won't be enough of them to harm the good American common people (and hopefully its vassal NATO states will follow suit).

So let's speculate that maybe the Israelis have at least one nuke buried under at least one EU city - like Frankfurt - just waiting for the right moment to light it off and watch the boobies of the world declare war on Russia because of "NATO obligations". Then while the entire Northern hemisphere goes ballistic (literally) they get to sit back and watch the fireworks in the Northern skies.

Nah. Couldn't ever happen. Too many smart people in charge.

F'in wheak and ghay scenario, ignorant of any reality. Oh, you are aware that Israel is in the northern hemisphere, at about the same latitude as Charlestown, NC, I hope.

If we're going to "speculate" (in this case, as in many others, speculators often lose), then we have to "speculate" that Israel has several uranium/plutonium processing sites to produce several different types of pits for bombs, as well as the different types of mechanisms used for them.

Then we have to speculate that absent a misslie launch or other military action that ANY country would view the detonation as anything but a terrorist act.

Then we have to speculate that there would be some kind of rapid retaliation (there would not be).

At last, we have to speculate (once again) that forensics wouldn't be used to determine the relative makeup or origin (isotopic analysis of tamper signature, fuel used) of the device.

I'll speculate that if said bomb was going to go off under Frankfurt, space aliens would use their powers to stop it from happening...
Which has a much greater possibility of happening than this "buried nuke" cartoon plot.

It would of been hard to imagine but this is about to escalate into a shooting war. Allowing events to deteriorate into a major war or possibly into what some see as World War III is becoming a reality. As insane as it appears this could become the final outcome.

The location of this as a military confrontation is right in Putin's backyard and this is a strong advantage for Russia. It is silly to think Putin and Russia will back down. This means poking the bear is not a smart move. It should be noted the military of Ukraine is divided and extremely weak. More about this subject in the article below.

The oligarchs have to do something soon. They are on a short timeline to blowing up their fiat currency con game and I don't see where they have a ready replacement in place, like the SDR should have been. In the meantime it looks like they are trying to save the dollar with the tapering but maybe they think its too late? They look like they are kind of desperate, abandoning the slow boiling frog approach to sovereign nation destruction and going the bash the frog on the head approach instead. Unless Putin is in cahoots with them the bash the frog is going to result in nuclear war, my guess is Putin is part of a different oligarchy and not in it with them. If the Rottenchild oligarchs has time they would cool their foot and wait for Putin to pass normally but they probably don't have time. I don't know if they think they can hang out underground in a mostly extinct world and go on oligarching from there. I get this feeling like the Rottenchild bloodline has hit upon a stupid family leader who has come up against a smart adversary. These things happen in all sporting events if you wait long enough a previously weak team overcomes a traditionally stronger opponent. Besides if Rottenchild really wants a war why all the posturing? Just get one of his NATO cronies to launch some nukes at Russia and war it is. I don't know if anybody including those "in the know" really know whats going on, they are playing chess or go with Putin and its developing as the game unfolds. In the meantime all of us armchair generals at ZH will keep each other posted until all this goes away, or we do.
