Glenn Greenwald On The 2016 Elections – "They'll Probably Have A Gay Person After Hillary"
Submitted by Mike Krieger of Liberty Blitzkrieg blog,
Glenn Greenwald is not one known for pulling punches, and in this excellent interview with GQ Magazine titled, The Man Who Knows Too Much, he is in particularly rare form. Credit must be given to the interviewer, who asked a wide range of very interesting questions that allowed Greenwald the opportunity to discuss a lot more than merely his Pulitzer Prize winning journalism on the Edward Snowden documents. From the fact that the biggest NSA stories have yet to be published, to thoughts on the 2016 elections, this interview really has it all.
Here are some of what I thought were the most interesting and informative excerpts. From GQ:
How much more is there to release—and what burden do you feel to get it out there?
We published the first article [about the NSA collecting Verizon phone records] while I was in Hong Kong last June and won’t stop until we’re done. I think we will end the big stories in about three months or so [June or July 2014]. I like to think of it as a fireworks show: You want to save your best for last. There’s a story that from the beginning I thought would be our biggest, and I’m saving that. The last one is the one where the sky is all covered in spectacular multicolored hues. This will be the finale, a big missing piece. Snowden knows about it and is excited about it.
What do you think would happen if Snowden were to fly from, say, Moscow to New York today?
I think it would be a huge media circus, and then he would be instantly arrested and probably rendered incommunicado for the entire duration of his judicial proceeding on the grounds that he has classified information that could damage the United States. The prosecutors would say he would have to be kept away from media. He would just be disappeared. Rendered completely invisible and mute.
When Daniel Ellsberg was on trial [for leaking the Pentagon Papers], he was allowed to speak out and defend himself.Which is why Ellsberg wrote an op-ed in The Washington Post last July saying Snowden was absolutely right to flee, because America has changed so drastically. Snowden would never be released on bail and would never get a fair trial.
Yeah, like the incident you quote in the book about Bill Keller [former executive editor of The New York Times] on the BBC…
Yeah, where he’s boasting about the fact that they don’t publish things without the government being happy with what they’re doing. And it obviously has resulted in the suppression of all kinds of important stories, which is the most inexcusable thing that can happen in journalism. And that has happened repeatedly at the Times. I think they’ve essentially become this mouthpiece for those in power, perhaps not consciously. When I make this critique, people at The New York Times are offended, because they actually don’t believe that it’s happening. And they’re not lying. It’s a more subtle dynamic than the government marching in and issuing memos to the Timesabout what they should and shouldn’t publish. It’s just a cultural approach to the news that basically says that the parameters of what can be discussed and viewed as reasonable are the ones that are endorsed by the most powerful financial and political factions in New York and Washington. They’re reflecting the mind-set of those elite groups rather than challenging them or confronting them. Obviously there are exceptions. There’s some good journalists there; they do some good journalism; they’ve done some adversarial journalism. It’s not an absolute, pure, constant, all-consuming formula. But in general, that’s become the posture of the Times.
So that goes with your concept of adversarial journalism—and the fact that you’re sitting here on your porch in Rio, not having lunch with anybody in D.C. right now, not having lunch with anybody in Manhattan.
And I don’t want to be, either! This is why I’m so optimistic about the future of journalism, based on what the Internet has permitted. I do think it is a huge change that the journalists who have been at the center of what everybody already knows is the biggest story of the year, if not the decade—meaning myself and Laura—didn’t go to journalism school. We didn’t intern at The New York Times or The Washington Post. We didn’t go to work for one of the five or six big media corporations that impose the standard set of orthodoxies about how you write and think. And we didn’t attach ourselves to those institutions. We didn’t make ourselves dependent upon the standard range of sources. And then, once I was in the position where people wanted to hire, basically, my blog, I was able to negotiate full editorial independence. So I’ve been able to forge my career, not only without depending on any of those processes and those people, but staying as far away from them as I can. I have zero incentive to avoid alienating them.
What’s the Platonic ideal for a journalist? If you can just close your eyes and imagine this thing you’re doing, what does it look like twenty years from now?
The thing is, I don’t actually think there is one Platonic, pure way of doing journalism. I think the public and the political culture benefits from different forms of journalism that expose different kinds of things. But for me, the core of journalism is that it provides a check on people who we empower, by making certain that they can’t hide the corrupt and abusive things they do with that power. People wield power in all sorts of different ways. It can be local police officers. It can be the CIA. It can be school administrators. It can be corrupt corporations. All forms of human power are susceptible to abuse and likely to be abused, and transparency—shining a light on that which they’re trying to hide and that shouldn’t be hidden—is one critical way of evening the playing field. And that, to me, is what journalism in its purest essence is about.
Can you talk about the difference between fear and fearlessness?
To me, fear is like the most corrosive state of mind there is. And usually fears are about things that don’t actually exist and that aren’t real. And so I think fearlessness, meaning not allowing yourself to be limited by fears of things that aren’t real, is the most important state of being you can have. That’s the most empowering thing there is.
Now for my favorite part of the entire interview, where he just skewers the sham that is the American political process…
How do you feel about the early presidential jockeying?
Hillary is banal, corrupted, drained of vibrancy and passion. I mean, she’s been around forever, the Clinton circle. She’s a fucking hawk and like a neocon, practically. She’s surrounded by all these sleazy money types who are just corrupting everything everywhere. But she’s going to be the first female president, and women in America are going to be completely invested in her candidacy. Opposition to her is going to be depicted as misogynistic, like opposition to Obama has been depicted as racist. It’s going to be this completely symbolic messaging that’s going to overshadow the fact that she’ll do nothing but continue everything in pursuit of her own power. They’ll probably have a gay person after Hillary who’s just going to do the same thing.
The best part of the above statement is that, because he himself is openly gay, he can make such commentary without being labeled “homophobic.”
I hope this happens so badly, because I think it’ll be so instructive in that regard. It’ll prove the point. Americans love to mock the idea of monarchy, and yet we have our own de facto monarchy. I think what these leaks did is, they demonstrated that there really is this government that just is the kind of permanent government that doesn’t get affected by election choices and that isn’t in any way accountable to any sort of democratic transparency and just creates its own world off on its own.
As I and many others have pointed out before, there is a good chance 2016 will see Jeb Bush vs. Hilary Clinton. Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama and then…well yep, Bush or Clinton.
American Feudalism.

Looks like a really twisted take on a "Polandball" character.
This goes on forever. Its great but you have more material then my drunk ass can view!
Hillary the lesbian evil thing is far move powerful than Bill ever was in the hierarchy. 'She' thing is a dangerous creature. Watch out.
.....she's 'Too Big to Fail' or is it 'Too Big to Nail'
"We came. We saw. He died."
(Cackling and sinister laughter at the brutal murder of Gadaffi)
If I were her opponent I'd play that clip in an endless loop.
1. I highly doubt a LOT of woman are going to be "invested" in Cuntalry's "candidacy"...if so, then this country IS fucked.
2. His opine that "we'll have a gay President" is asinine/laughable and insane....maybe in 30 more years...gotta weed out every single stinking homophobe...and that's gonna take some time...
3. Of course, then there's Diebold...he who counts the motherfucking votes"
4. Alas...less than 30% of the lazy, fat fucking Americans actually register AND vote....which is why we get bitches like Cuntalry and Fuckbama.....
...yes.....no gender divide needed....two bitches...bitchez
The media decides who the final candidates are. They can give time or take time, paint a nice picture or a bad one. Play the one little bad thing over and over while all the good is forgotten. The media and no one else decides who the president is. So, if you wish to affect change in this country, buy a media outlet or start your own. No one does their own research and decides for themself. You have to decide for them.
Actually, "The Media" is a part of the mechanism by which the owners install the next teleprompter reader/leader of the ongoing charade.
"The Media" has a key role to play, but they are just players themselves, always subject to orders.
"Alas...less than 30% of the lazy, fat fucking Americans actually register AND vote."
LOLOLOLOLOLOL...you still vote...too funny...
Quite a team to be fighting Putin and Xi with. Guess they expect to get the enemy whenever it laughs.
I think we all know this isn't the team that's fighting Putin. We probably don't even know their names. These are the people that front for the team and provide a useful diversion so the people don't target the true masters.
How many high ranking US or Israeli officials been fired or forced to resign? The NSA spying was new. Nobody had any idea the government was spying...sarc off.

While I like that Greenwald is publishing things that are challenging the status quo, why doesn't he just release all the information? Why must we wait for him to subject these documents to some sort of "editorial" process before they are slowly trickled out to us?
As John Young (responsible for cryptome.org) has noted here: ( http://cryptome.org/2013/11/snowden-tally.htm ), at the current rate of publication it will take decades to release these documents. I don't buy the whole argument centered on the idea that we need to "protect certain people" by adopting this sort of restricted approach on dissemination of the material. The public interest in finally seeing what our government is up to far outweighs all other concerns. We've gotten to a point where the government conducts so many of its activities in the shadows that it needs to be completely turned on its head...
Part of Snowden's conditions for giving the information to Greenwald and Poitrias was that the information be carefully screened and vetted prior to release to prevent any harm from coming to people that might otherwise be put in harm's way. Greenwald has discussed this before that it takes a huge amount of time to go through the process, and part of his leaving the Guardian was to speed it up.
I guess when your new boss gets more face time with Obama than most people that is how he is being helped in speeding up the process.

According to a Kyiv Post article on February 10 titled, “Rybachuk: Democracy-promoting nongovernmental organization faces ‘ridiculous’ investigation”:
...
Of the many problems that poses, none is more serious than the fact that Omidyar now has the only two people with exclusive access to the complete Snowden NSA cache, Glenn Greenwald and Laura Poitras. Somehow, the same billionaire who co-financed the “coup” in Ukraine with USAID, also has exclusive access to the NSA secrets—and very few in the independent media dare voice a skeptical word about it.
In the larger sense, this is a problem of 21st century American inequality, of life in a billionaire-dominated era. It is a problem we all have to contend with—PandoDaily’s 18-plus investors include a gaggle of Silicon Valley billionaires like Marc Andreessen (who serves on the board of eBay, chaired by Pierre Omidyar) and Peter Thiel (whose politics I’ve investigated, and described as repugnant.)
But what is more immediately alarming is what makes Omidyar different. Unlike other billionaires, Omidyar has garnered nothing but uncritical, fawning press coverage, particularly from those he has hired. By acquiring a “dream team” of what remains of independent media — Greenwald, Jeremy Scahill, Wheeler, my former partner Matt Taibbi — not to mention press “critics” like Jay Rosen — he buys both silence and fawning press.
...
This is certainly something that reinforces my skepticism regarding the official basis on which Greenwald is withholding information provided by Snowden -- thanks for the informative post.
More from the Pando story.
...
On 16th April 2010, Pamela Omidyar visited the White House for four hours to meet with Gayle Smith, Senior Director of the National Security Council in charge of “global development” and “democracy.”
The National Security Council, which the president heads, was created by Truman in 1947, under the National Security Act, to act as a liaison between government and the military/intelligence community. This included providing a bridge between the government and the CIA, which was created in the same year under the same act. More recently the NSC, which oversees the “kill lists,” has been implicated in the targeted assassinations of American citizens and was responsible for controlling the “high value detainee interrogation group,” which was criticized for its inhumane treatment of prisoners in 2013 by the Guardian’s… Glenn Greenwald. More recently, the NSC was involved in the decision not to declassify thousands of CIA documents, prompting outrage from reporters at Omidyar’s First Look Media.
While we can’t know what was discussed at the meeting – not least because a spokesperson for Pierre and Pamela Omidyar declined to comment for this story – it’s possible that Pamela Omidyar and Smith touched upon Omidyar Network’s future international investment plans. After all, before joining the NSC, Smith worked as chief of staff at USAID.
In any case, the following month, another senior official from Omidyar Network was invited to the White House. This time, it was Matthew Bannick, Omidyar Network’s managing partner who made the trip to DC. According to White House records, the meeting was between “BANNICK, MATTHEW J” and “POTUS” — that is, the President of the United States himself.
Records show that Bannick and the President met in the Roosevelt Room for about an hour. That was apparently not enough time to conclude whatever business Omidyar Networks wished to transact with the White House, as Bannick returned to Pennsylvania Ave the very next day to meet the First Lady. The following day, Bannick was back for a third meeting, this time with Peter Rundlet, then deputy assistant to the President. A little over two weeks later, Pamela Omidyar also swung by to meet Rundlet.
These meetings clearly were very fruitful — at least for Rundlet. Just three months after meeting Pamela Omidyar and Matthew Bannick, Rundlet decided to quit his job at the White House and go to work as “vice president for investments” for a humanitarian group called “Humanity United.” The founders of that group? Pierre and Pamela Omidyar.
After Rundlet’s departure, the Omidyars and Bannick stayed away from the White House for almost a year, until suddenly in 2011 they were back with a vengeance. In June and July of 2011, Pierre and Pamela Omidyar and Matthew Bannick have a total five entries on the White House visitor log, including another visit with the President, on 18th July, this time in his private residence. It was two months after that meeting that Omidyar Network announced its co-investment with USAID in Ukraine’s Center UA—which described itself as an “active participant” in the Ukraine revolution earlier this year—as well as in pro-democracy groups in Nigeria, Chile and India.
The last recorded visit by Omidyar to the White House was in December 2012, just ten months before it was revealed that he had hired Glenn Greenwald, keeper of Edward Snowden’s secrets, to launch a site exposing the misbehavior of the US government. Since then, according to all the records Pando has been able to find, no representative of Omidyar Networks has visited the White House, nor have any more co-investments between Omidyar and USAID been announced publicly.
But the key word there is publicly. Just because Omidyar is now painting himself as an outsider, doesn’t mean he’s any less close to his old friends in Washington.
..
In February of this year, the Intercept published one of its first reports, bylined to Greenwald and Scahill, exposing the involvement of the NSA in foreign drone attacks — a program overseen by the National Security Council. That same month USAID official Sarah Mendelsen testified before the House Subcommittee on State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs about the importance of the US government’s ongoing partnerships with private donors and NGO including, specifically, Omidyar Network…
...
What we do know for sure is this: for all of First Look’s bluster about Omidyar’s outsider status, his relationship to the White House is at least as close as any other media tycoon. Moreover, his direct business relationship with the Obama administration, through Omidyar Network’s co-investments with USAID and his donation of hundreds of thousands of dollars to the World Bank to promote micro-lending in emerging markets, adds another layer of coziness which most of the biggest media barons don’t even enjoy.
Excellent Posts. Thanks.
I really do hope that this is the explanation and that we aren't going to be denied the opportunity to know about everything in the end. My gut instinct, without having seen any explanation of that nature, was that this was just milking the distribution of information for personal gain, and the whole protection of others aspect I have had strong doubts about.
I mean, given the volume of people/media outlets that Snowden has allegedly provided with the motherload of information, it would be somewhat illogical to assume that those intent upon using this hypothetical information to harm someone would not already have found some way to access it. Arguably, it would be even more harmful to continue letting these hypothetical covert agents continue to operate as if they have not already been entirely compromised, and there has been more than enough time to pull them out of harms way, if that is the premise we're operating on. Surely among the Guardian, Der Spiegel, SVT, Washington Post etc, it would be foolish to imagine that all of those outlets operated on such a high level of journalistic integrity that you could have total confidence about information not leaking to any number of intelligence agencies.
If you dig, you find he's actually given the motherlode (ie all documents) to very few people. It's one of the things that makes me hope like hell he really does have a deadman switch on the information release. If Greenwald, etc have been turned or are deliberately slowing things down, given how few people have the info it opens the door to silencing the issue.
Snowden alluded to the "big stuff" in a recent past interview, at the moment I'd give Greenwald the benefit of the doubt that they're going to do a grand finale type event in the not so distant future. If it doesn't materialize, we'll have our answer about Greenwald, his new gig, and possibly even about Snowden.
They'll probably have an openly gay person after Hillary
ftfy
Though Obama wouldn't be the first in the closet gay President though.
That honor most likely goes to James Buchanan.
As some may know the man was life long 'bachelor' and lived with William Rufus King for 15 years, who later became Vice President when running with Franklin Pierce before he died while in office.
Interestingly enough whether coincidence or not Buchanan followed Pierce as the next US President to be elected and both were Democrats.
If you want to an effective 5th column to take over a country, it helps if they meet several natural criteria: a. Population size of 5-15 million (out of 300 million), b. homogenous and tightly knit within, c. have traditionally been "outsiders", and d. driven to succeed economically and politically. I think we have two such distinct groups in the US, and they get along fabulously. Will leave it as an exercise for everyone to figure it out for themselves.
Even the devious, ruthless and clever Romulans could not have come up with a better concept and plan to prime a planet for takeover. Metaphorically speaking.
Bravo my good man.

Rand Paul can stop this evil wench...
If he gets close, they'll stop him.
but it will be a controlled demolition
oh, then you must VOTE for him!
and save the Nation!!
No, Rand has already proved his 'integrity' during his father's bid for the Republican nomination.
Whatever is presented, on any 'side' it is guaranteed to be faux.
We could bypass the 25th amendment by electing a dead president to a third term. Can't die in office (so can't be replaced by VP), isn't barred from infinite terms on the technicality. Congress would love it and so might the fed up people. Race, religion wouldn't matter in the least. And think of the savings on food alone.
why ?is obama even a real living man? i thought he was some kind of puppet with a rothschild/rockafeller hand up his ass
Jeez...too bad they finally buried Lenin.
Exhume Lenin !?
The Bush and Clinton families are totally criminal. Their past is beyond sleazy and psychopahtic. Google "jeb Bush and barry seals" you'll see the Bush/Clinton connection to drug running. Both families have made fortunes through drug trafficing. Bush's have made much, much more than the Clintons. Both are pure scum, criminal degnerates -both are proof that organized crime banksters run and own this country.
Google clinton and mena arkansas....never mind, i did it.

Was there in Parks, AR. Mena airport baby! Arkansas is as corrupt as anyplace in the USA.
There's not that much time on the clock kids.
Hillary for president, now I know the US population has totally lost the plot....just too funny for words.
I love this guy for standing up for the whole world that's sick of the cunts who are not right or left but mafias. He is a hero of mine.
What the hell is this crap? Mr. "openly gay" Glenn Greenwald wants to give us a fireworks show with the Snowden revelations, building up to a spectacular climax, treating the whole thing as entertainment when what we're talking about here ostensibly involves issues of the highest importance, i.e. national security and the warrantless spying on American citizens?
I think that tells you all you need to know about the whole Snowden affair. Events have reached a nadir of irony and cynicism so convoluted that perverted hacks like Greenwald can pass themselves off as heroes of integrity and truth. Let me make this very clear: Homosexuality is an intrinsically disordered state which compromises a person physically, intellectually, and spiritually. Greenwald is not to be trusted. He is attempting to involve the world in some gay drama; everything he does is a pretext made to subserve the needs of his insatiable self-importance.
And what is with this "presumptive nominee" stuff? Hillary Clinton has yet to win a single primary for the 2016 election. She totes more baggage than Zsa Zsa Gabor on a train-trip through Persia. What in the name of sweet Fannie Adams has she got to run on? Being the first creature with ovaries to occupy the White House? Even that is debatable.
As far as I know, Americans have no particular proclivity to make fun of monarchy; we tend to respect the monarchs of other countries, even to look up to them. We are taught in our civics classes that we once fought a revolution against monarchy and that we ought to abominate it as a bad thing, but that goes against the grain of all human sentiment, including our own better instincts. We find substitute monarchs when we can't get the real thing (a certain Queen Kardashian comes to mind in this instance) and Princess Di was as much beloved in America as ever she was in her native England. There is nothing inherently wrong with monarchy; it just happens to serve as a convenient appellation for the class of people we've birthed with our own excesses and have been too weak and jaded to throw off.
Glenn Grenwald is in every respect a symptom of a republic at its furthest extreme of fecklessness. When change does come it will render him and all of his coreligionists as irrelevant as a saxophone on a snorkeller. I repeat one again what ought to become the mantra of all the savvy, "Fin de siecle ain't just a bike race in Helsinke."
"treating the whole thing as entertainment"--
take your meds goosey
i think you're right about Hillary, but you can see the media wheels turning (lets make this a horse race). I tend to prefer subversives who work inside the system, Colbert, and Jon Stewart, but if anything Greenwald succeeds in helping guys like Snowden out into the cold, (where they belong). wasn't Gore Vidal one of those? france used to be the place for expats (like R Crumb). monarchy? i thought most americans decided on oligarchy, so please lets make up our mind
Wow. So how is the coolaid? Is it sweet enough?
"And what is with this "presumptive nominee" stuff? Hillary Clinton has yet to win a single primary for the 2016 election. "
Hello? What the hell did Obummer have to run on other than the color of his skin? He had accomplished absolutely nothing prior to running for president. He won a couple of elections but was conspicuously absent for any important votes.
What you fail to appreciate is that the vast majority of Americans pay little attention to politics until about a month before the elections. The nominees of the two parties are trotted out marketed to the public like a new product launch, regardless of the quality of the "product". Obummer had baggage too but the MSM conveniently ignored it and the marketing campaign proceeded without interruption. The same will occur with Hitlery.
It's all about entertainment. Look at what's been revealed by Snowden about our authoritarian form of government, and how has America reacted? By snoozing. No one's taking a bullet for freedom anymore, so just let him entertain us.
You woke up one day and chose your sexuality?
What a dink.
all these tribal loyalties can get confusing. a culture forms in either a sequestered jury room (or a nearly all black basketball league). now they're to take some old white guys basketball team away from him. Don Sterling said tonight, I can spend millions, the league can spend millions, what does it matter who wins? the matter is preemptively decided. whether sterling wins or loses he has been wronged.
i used to believe in trial by media, only because i saw that twelve people locked in a hotel room were the only people in LA who didn't know OJ was guilty. the jury didn't know Zimmerman popped Treyvon Martin, but america did. how do you sequester 300 million voters? you take control of the media. the new majority is a 45% approval rating, and it will go a lot lower. to pull this together, how many people can the president murder without being arrested??
Men will always sin. Don't expect complete justice on this world.
As many as he can get away with.
Just like with Obama in 2008, Hillary will probably be blindsided for the Democrat nomination by a Lesbian bi-racial Black-Hispanic retarded woman. She will cover all of the major Democrat bases for 2016 in their Get-out-the-Vote effort.
If the black woman also has a peg leg and an eye-patch, we can just skip the election completely and move her immediately into the White House (what a raciss name. Sombody oughta do somin bout dat).
If Jeb Bush Runs in 2016, that will be 40 years for the GOP with almost 80% of them with a Bush or a Dole at the top
and if you want to really go back a bit, since 1952, you have had a Nixon, a Bush or a Dole on the top line.
The GOP is utterly stultified, and the Dems are heading that way.
Get the rubes concentrating on sexuality-the stock and trade of the pornography business which has contributed so much to the decline of family values and the ability to resist propaganda. Right off the bat, Greenwald distracts us with a deft touch that would make the Tavistock Institute proud. That way we are far from realizing that he and his protegé are a limited hangout operation who have said nothing that was not already known and nothing about 911, the Kennedy assasination, or any other item of major significance. We already knew about snooping, Echelon, etc.
The -1 was me. I don't have the energy to explain wh
Fine.
Having skimmed most of the comments so far, I can't help but wonder if I'm the only one that read this,
... and noticed the use of the word "They'll", a contraction if I'm correct, of "they will".
"THEY".
Sounds spot on. I don't think he was speaking of the "electorate".
check his history, from birth, and yeah, maybe we'd agree he has an idea who "they" are. . .
and how the narrative he's helping to promote will "end".
Well, so "they" aren't "us".
It isn't Greenwald anymore than it's Carlin.
I just find it interesting noone seems to have picked up on it as much as they spend so much time/energy bashing Hillary and others.
"Narrative" or "Truth" wasn't my point.
Though, now I think on it a bit more, perhaps everyone spends so much time/energy because they ARE focused just on the narrative.
This guy/gay Greenwald is an example of how journalism has to be. And him making this remark about how the next president after Clinton will probably be gay because it is politically correct makes him more of an example for gay people than any bearded transvestite winning a song contest in Europe.
That transvestite guy (...girl?...thing?) was sicking me out hardcore. I just wanted to go to wikipedia for crying out loud. I didn't want to see some bearded lady plastered all over the main page in the process. I hadn't even heard of the motherfucker before yesterday.
Seriously folks, do we really need to subject our children to this? I mean, school kids are going to wikipedia to do research every day. Why did they have to put that freak on the main page?
It's got to stop. In the name of all that is good and sacred, this bullshit has got to stop. There will never be an openly gay President of the USA. By the time they can finally field a candidate, this experiment with making homosexuality trendy will have backfired and they'll all be back in the closet. We, meanwhile, will have a lot of explaining to do as to why we ever let depravity get so far.
Well, these politically correct people think they are advancing the cause for gay people and transvestites by parading them on TV. But it really is a mockery, a freakshow. I stopped watching the Eurovision 'song' contest somewhere in the 80s. Quality is bad and the event has been taken over by the campy gay crowd who demand that you like it or else you're a homophobe.
One doesn't have to like gayness but these people exist. They have a right to live their lives they way they want but I don't need to be confronted by it and being forced to like it just because it is politically correct. Like I said, this does not at all advances the cause for gay people and there are plenty of normal gay people who don't like this gay campiness at all.
But the Eurovision 'song' contest needs to have this sort of freakshow or else people will lose interest. But after a few days life will resume and gay people will continue to face violence and mockery and now more so.
Next year you'll have a person who likes bestiality and his goat on stage singing a song about goat love because they also have a right not to be discriminated, as this year's winner said.
We live in the age of stupid and selfies.

What's more in English English, "to have someone" also means "2 f@ck someone", ambiguously implying that THEY F@CK the incumbent (who may well be gay as well). Seems about right to me. THEY f@ck all, up and down the official ladder.

You need to look at what HAS been released. Then shut up.

Let's skip Hilary and the gay one and go immidiately to Conchita Sausage.
Greenwald means here 'openly, overtly, in your face homo' gay. Obviously the current Clown in Chief is a bisexual embarrassment. But the day will come soon of some pervert passionately kissing 'his man' in a campaign advert, and if you express basic natural disgust, you will be labled a 'hater' or 'bigot' or some pejorative.
For that matter, Hilary is pretty obviously a homosexual herself. Maybe she breaks the ice on this.
What? And give up the DNC's next identity politics campaign theme...if she can be elected without using that card she will of course.
How many politicians does it take to completely capture an economy and bleed it to death through over regulation and taxation? Clue: The number is less than what we currently have.
How many PACS, Tax free Foundations, Think Tanks, Corporate Contributions to politicians, - "does it take to completely capture an economy and bleed it to death through over regulation and taxation?"
THATS BETTER - I fixed it for you. Hope you don't mind.
They say Michelle Obama is really a man in drag. There are some convincing videos on youtube. I think both Obama and Hillary are gay anyway.
That is the whisper... on Obama, that he prefers or at least when younger, preferred older white guys. Hillary? who cares, and I really don't want to see or imagine who likes that kind of humanoid, as it seems her husband isn't one of them, though they both know how to work the system for puppets on a string. Obama seems to prefer to remain quiet if possible and let all the major BSing to his SKull and Crossbone buddy, Kerry.
There won't be another prez election, so who cares, this is all just discretionary diversion.
the lust for power corrupts, at this stage of human history, it corrupts at an logrithmic rate - old power families with minions of phd's and sadist police thugs. they own the MSM and they set the depraved in positions of power for the people to bend a knee to. so we now have this show of demented depravity, a power persons sex life used as THE important character trait ,as if justice is not blind. the sewer of politics has become a self parody..heads of IMF, congressman Carlos Danger, barny frank, ...the unk mulatto ..and depraved NFL images, this is what a progessive society is? I am sorry the standards set are base and worthless comedy.
Ditch the suicide vest now!
ALL of this is known as EXTERNALIZING THE HIERARCHY.
I didn’t realize Barney Frank was a running Presidential contender.
atom, i know you have reading ability, but very short on comprehension, connecting a thought thread. I have compassion for you, as like a fish raised in sewer water, has no understanding of a pristine river, we as a society (connected world wide), have in recent years become like that fish. so I understand you and wish you well.
I like Edward Snowden and think he did a heroic act to help the American people. I increasingly think Greenwald is in it for himself. He didn't win a Pulitzer, it was awarded to the newspapers.
If Greenwald isn't in it primarily for himself he should be...we shouldn't complain about self-interest we should just assume it and hold on to oir wallets and natural rights accordingly no matter the person being discussed.
Even if Snowden's only self-interest is the pleasure he gets 'helping others' it's still self-interest. But I doubt he's all Mother Teresa like either...the star struck hottie Muscovites he's probably bagging must provide some added incentives. ;-)
Self-interest is actually beneficial in economics for everyone as long as power is diffused...which isn't the cas right now unfortunately.
Greenwald points out politically what is displayed economically.
We are in economic decline not recovery and lies abound.
Unemployment is really at 18% - 21% if we add back the walk-always, under counted teens and those allowed on Disability with the vastly weakened rules.
There are less heavy industry jobs that at anytime in our history as a percentage of workforce President Obama insures this keeping Executive ordered EPA regulation at extreme numbers
There are more "poor" as a percentage of population than at anytime in our history
Our Federal Government employees now make more than double in wage and pension compared to private sector wage and pension(USA Today 2009) as Obama build his kingdom absorbing 17% or the economy into high paying government.
No one points out the S&P is largely responsive to outsourced and offshore activity rather than American workforce under this President
Our dollar remains at low levels and food prices continue to soar.
Bill Clinton, our last good president, never blamed opposition and yet he had divided government and gave us prosperity. Clinton was a Capitalist. Not this president. I would expect this president or his minions to tout and recommend Picketty.
Lies and misrepresentations continue to flow unabated about a recovery!
Clinton didn't give us properity of anything else. If you recall the 1990's was when the computer/intenet was really taking off. That drove the economy until it went into bubble territory with the resulting crash.
Gee, do I vote for the Fascist or the FASCIST?
Law and order is for suckers as is being middle class. Join the black market, fastest growing free market in the world!
Snowden is a modern hero and Alexander is the TRAITOR.
If the Repubs can come up with a gay black woman they'll have a slam dunk! :-)
Seriously, how about we elect someone who will govern by the Constitution?
You all missed it. Obama will come out of the closet (for those who don't already know) for 2016 and the Constitution will be amended to allow him to run again, or just stay in for life. It would be rascist and homophobic not to.
Yesterday morning on a flight from Pennsylvania to Nevada, I cried at the number of obese passengers with self-satisfied looks on their corpulent faces, on a full flight with no where to escape to.
To advertise her in-your-face attitude The Whale next me was wearing a bright yellow 'sausage casing' top which was like sitting next to a liquid cold Sun, and from which, at the waist, huge rolls of fat spilled over into my 'turf', in my seat. Being next to the window I was crushed for 4 hours into a sliver of space. When she moved a fat arm to open her chocolate chip cookies, Cheddar cheese crackers, third and 4th helpings of each, i was further pinned to the window. I very nearly committed a momicide. Several times she got out her I phone and looked fondly at her mixed race, I guess, grandchildren.
For reading material she would every hour or so, read a page or two from her best selling diet book.
I realized as I never have before that the national character of our human beans has eroded to the point of no return.
The national will, self-disciplne, and other personal responsibility traits are all but lost.
I can't understand why airlines won't force fat tubs of lard to buy two or, in her case, three seats. All I can deduce from this is that 1) cheap airfares are not a bargain at all. I will no longer look for the cheapest airline when flying, happy to pay a premium for first class, or a better but more expensive airline. 2) that airlines know that most of their passengers are vastly overwieght, or morbidly obese, and if they made them pay two or three times the regualar fare, their profit margins would disappear.
So the next POTUS to be appointed should not only be Gay, Transgendered, possess only a double digit IQ, be an illegal immigrant, with major handicaps that would make the candidate wheel chair bound, but above all should be at least 200 pounds over weight and proud of it.
We are a frivolous country, capricious, the majority of whom are locked in adolescence. The notions of personal courtesy, manners, and civility have been bred out of the national character replaced by the do your own thing and fuck everyone else.
These losses should also be reflected in the next POTUS.
Be careful you're not labeled a phatophile. Now go grab your GMO recipe book and get ready to sweat with the Fairies a la Richard Simmons, I nominate him for president, I think he has all the attributes, especially now that he's phatter, older, and flaming for a fresh pink meat pop!!
(disclaimer, I love gays and am on the committee to re-elect closet queens)
Why didn't you just make her flight miserable? That's what I do...
Why do you care? All that fat is killing them. The quicker the better, reduces the potential for medical ghouls to redistribute their moral hazard.
Count Oil of Oley'
Did you find somebody to feel superior to? Good boy. There's obviously other assholes who agree with your poorly strained diarrhea.
Talley Ho!
Hillary will be the next president. They wanted to show that an African American could be "transformed", then they'll either want to puppetize a woman (I also predicted Yellen) or a gay. (disclaimer: I love gays and am thinking about becoming one)
Maybe an Iranian could work, but they kinda worked that in with Barack Hussein, you know, a two-fer?
It's always a celebration of decadence for the "developed" countries. If we could get a pedophile after that, or maybe a recovering heroin addict ...
But don't get me wrong, I love gays ...
I'm almost not surprised that Greenwald would be so socially incorrect as to call it what it is, he'll get tons of backlash from it, but sorry, I love it. It's so spot on!!
LOL...anyone who still votes in this country--and that includes people I know and love--is a FUCKING RETARD.
Can one of the Tylers write an article about why this is so? I haven't seen one on here in a while.
We do not need an article. These are the reasons.
1. People have chosen to accept the D and R points of view without ANY critical reflection, informed debate, research or any historical or moral perspectives. It has become easier to "just accept" the party line and just focus on daily life, (whatever that may be.)
2. We have become "Balkanized." Americans were at one time -Americans first. Today we are defined by our race, gender, religion, financial, and sexual preferences. There has not been any national dialog on these issues since passage of the Civil Rights Act, 50 years ago.
3. Our government has lost the power of the "checks and balances" of our Constitutional Republic. As such, each time the political center changes in D.C. there is a rush of people and groups to "get theirs," while the getting is good.
4. Our form of government has shifted to an unelected "Corporate Dominated" structure. Tax free money flows to every political office holder, from dog catcher to the US President.
5. PACS, Foundations, Think Tanks provide almost unlimited money, studies, consultation, people and points of view to clueless politicians and their staffs, on which those politicians can peg their respective political positions.
6. Through our FED, Congress and the Political establishment has abandoned its responsibility for fiscal governance. The FED provides whatever the Congress needs to support the 20%+ of its unproductive population as well as the money needed for the support of our worldwide economic and military empire.
7. Our government no longer functions as the glue that holds America together for the benefit of all its citizens. Millions of jobs have been "outsourced," to the cheapest wage paying countries on earth, 15 million plus illegal "immigrants" have been allowed into our borders to birth anchor babies and seek whatever meager wages American Industry is willing to pay them.
8. The Internet has allowed (among many other things,) for an endless 24 x 7 cycle of political propaganda meant to continually enrage its readership at the political views of its "political enemies." HuffPo, Drudge, etc., are prime examples of this phenomenon The ability to speak freely has been silenced, not by Government decree,) but by the collective punishment administered at the "public woodshed" by the populist appointed groups and "thought police."
9. LASTLY, - The American people are no longer able or are capable of changing the current Political mindset beyond the City/County level of governance. This inability for change will lead to unwelcome outcomes in the future that has the potential for our political and civil destruction.
As I and many others have pointed out before, there is a good chance 2016 will see Jeb Bush vs. Hilary Clinton. Bush, Clinton, Clinton, Bush, Bush, Obama, Obama and then…well yep, Bush or Clinton".. and then Trayvon Martin.. Oh wait... he;s dead.. Damn... now what?
