Why Are Ukraine Troops Using UN Helicopters, Russia Foreign Minister Asks
A clearly irritated Sergei Lavrov - Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs - appeared on Bloomberg TV this morning and warned that "Ukraine is as close to civil war as you can get." The minister further exclaimed that Russia "would like to understand how helicopters with a UN logo were used against protesters in the south-east," adding that "Russia has serious suspicions that mercenaries from the USA are acting in Ukraine’s south-east." Furthermore, Lavrov warned that "attempts to force Ukraine into NATO may have a strong negative impact on the whole system of European security." But apart from that... BTFWWIII

The UN has voiced concerns over the apparent use of UN-marked helicopters by Kiev troops in their military operation against Donetsk regional militia. A video of a white-painted Mil Mi-24 strike helicopter with UN logo has emerged.
When inquired about the United Nations’ stance on the use of peacekeeper-marked military hardware in non-peacekeeper operations, the office for UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon’s spokesperson said such use would violate UN rules.
“It is the responsibility of Troop Contributing Countries (TCCs) that provide Contingent Owned Equipment to peacekeeping missions to remove all logos and signage bearing the UN's name once such equipment has been repatriated to the home country or is no longer being used for official UN purposes,” the office told RT.
It added that UN-marked aircraft can be used for missions tasked by the UN and that UN’s Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support is in contact with the Ukrainian authorities to clarify the issue.

According to Lavrov, Moscow urges to investigate the alleged Kiev’s using of helicopters with UN marks in the military operation in the country’s south-east. “Ukraine is as close to civil war as you can get,” the Russian minister emphasized. “We would like to understand how helicopters with UN logo were used against protesters in the south-east,” the minister said.
“Russia has serious suspicions that mercenaries from the USA are acting in Ukraine’s south-east,” Lavrov pointed out.
Commenting on the news about the start of the ‘round table’ on ways of settling the crisis in Kiev, the Russian minister noted that for the success of the national dialogue, Ukraine needs an equal participation of all the country’s regions in this process.
“I don’t know which the exact list of participants of the widely advertised ‘round table’ in Kiev is. We are convinced that for the success of the national dialogue, an equal participation of all Ukraine’s regions is needed, and not only of the south and east, but of the west as well,” Sergei Lavrov said.

However, it gives the Kiev junta a highly immoral advantage in that separatists are much less likely to fire on a helicopter emblazoned with the logo of a "neutral" organization. It's no different than using helicopters with a Red Cross logo painted on the side.
It also greatly increases the likelihood of actual UN helicopters being fired on in the future.

It seems the US intends to keep pushing until this turns into a full blown war. The idea of America getting involved or jumping into a war in Ukraine would have been hard to imagine a few years ago. The potential for this to escalate into a shooting war is real. Allowing events to deteriorate into a major war or possibly into what some see as World War III is becoming a reality.
As insane as it appears this could become the final outcome. The location of this as a military confrontation is right in Putin's backyard and this is a strong advantage for Russia. It is silly to think Putin and Russia will back down. This means poking the bear is not a smart move. It should be noted the military of Ukraine is divided and extremely weak. The U.S. Knows it no longer has the power-gap ahead of Russia to hold it back, and it would shamefully back-off while Russia easily gobbles Ukraine up.
We are no longer a lone-super-power, the technology and military capabilities of Russia and China have completely bridged the gap of the soviet era, and the U.S. economy is extremely fragile, and deffinatly would collapse on even the slightest "real war" scenario. (IE: going from attacking mythical men in caves, to actually confronting a mechanized military like Russia).
The U.S. Simply can't afford any form of a real - long - mechanized war, it would plunge the domestic economy into a complete depression.
War is only "good for the economy" if you are not fighting the war, thats why we did so well during the first and 2nd world war, because we pretty much stayed out of it, and the rest of the world went into debt to buy american products (boots, tires, tanks, guns, food etc....) .
But if you are actually the one fighting the war. . . well . . . you end up like post WWII Germany.
look how much we spent on the "war on terror ™" , trillions . . . all to kill one or two dudes hiding in a cave, we didnt even get any land or booty out of it (well except for a few private interests).
There's no need for Russia to take over Ukraine. Crimea was the only part of it vital to Russian security & most Crimeans were Russian citizens or ethnic anyway. If it were to occupy the country, that'd be at a huge expense, both financially and in terms of lives. We could well see a scenario where Ukrainian fascist insurgents are armed by the West, leading to another bloody & draining Afghan or Chechen-style adventure (Brezinski's wet dream). Putin's too clever to fall for that old trick.
No, best thing for Russia is to let the US/EU waste 10s of billions trying to keep this failed state on life support. Of course that cant happen because the EU/US are kinda broke too, so inevitably, within a few years at the most, we will see the return of a govt to Kiev that will desperately need to appeal to Moscow for financial & energy aid. Russia will be happy to provide it (with perhaps a few more strings attached) as it has done so for most of the last decade.
Russia doesn't want Ukraine as a vassal state, it wants Germany as a strategic partner.
The photo of the helicopter is clearly a false flag attempt. Helicopters in UN missions are marked "ONU", which is the French and Spanish acronym. They are also painted in the largest space available on the body of the vehicle to minimize mis-identification.
