Donetsk Declares Martial Law As "Leave Or Face Total Annihilation" Deadline Hits Within The Hour

Tyler Durden's picture

The self-proclaimed "people's governor" of Donetsk, Pavlo Gubarev...

has, according to KyivPost, threatened "total annihilation" of Ukrainian armed forces moved into Donetsk region if Kyiv did not pull them away from "the cities of Donbas" within one hour.

As RT reports,

Donetsk self-defense forces set an ultimatum for the Kiev military, warning that if troops do not withdraw from block posts in the Donetsk region within 24 hours, they will be taken by force, RIA Novosti reported.

The pro-autonomy militia of Donbass region in eastern Ukraine made the statement on Wednesday.

"If the armored vehicles are not pulled back, the roadblocks of the so-called legitimate authorities are not removed, I will have enough power and means – the commander supported me today – to destroy and burn everything. Reconnaissance and sabotage groups are ready to move and some are steady,” deputy commander of the pro-autonomy militia of Donbass, Sergey Zdrilyuk, told RIA Novosti.

I give 24 hours for them to withdraw all troops, all forces,” he added.

The statement follows referendums in Donetsk and Lugansk regions, which showed that the majority of voters support self-rule amid an intensified military operation by Kiev.

That deadline expires shortly... would anyone else, besides Virtu (which will buy until the last millisecond and then dump it all) want to be long into this?

Hey idiot,

While your ZOG rants are always amusing you may want to do a bit of background "research" on who is Pavel and the "Russian National Unity" Party of Donesk.

Go ahead, I'll wait while you read up on the "Night Wolf" bike gang based out of St.Pytorburg and the RNU. Come back when you get fresh approval to continue shadowboxing. Bonus points for your team if you can reconcile the real names & faces of the guys holed up in the Lughansk police station with their unit numbers and then have the balls to post a excuse as to what they are doing in there. Using Sergi Laugh-off quotes on American primetime is cheating.

http://media.mcclatchydc.com/smedia/2014/04/23/06/41/JbJHu.AuSt.91.jpeg\

How the fuck it got there remains a secret but I'm sure that the Russians have not forgotten what these TOW and Stinger missiles provided to Al Qaeda in Afghanistan did to their forces.

Now just think of all the global hotspots where the American government supports it's dictators, Kings and despots against the best interests and human rights of their citizens.

Children with matches.

If the objective is to avoid a bloodbath, a realistic timeline had to be given.

Armor uses trains to get around.  They don't drive unless in battle because tracked vehicles are inherently maintenance intensive.

With the Ukrainian Army's old BMP-2s from the 1970s, and T-72s they would lose half their force to maintenance in the first 50 miles of the road march. All could have been returned to service in a few days, but they didn't have a few days.  So why even start the roadmarch?

But the train ride that got them in the vicinity was coordinated over weeks, and required several days just for loading/unloading.

The short timeline means a departure by train is not  possible.

The deadline being so short says:  "I am not interested in a political solution.  I just want to fight."

Also... what about the career military stationed in Donetsk?.  Many won't be from Donetsk originally.   Ditto for bureacrats (many bureaucracies that are not military in the West are part of the Army in Ukraine).   Many will be from other regions in Ukraine.

They have been given a choice to abandon their families elsewhere in Ukraine and defect to Donetsk - or to be homeless and jobless, fleeing by any means they can with their families (including on foot) in 48 hours.

The choice given to them is not one that provides a bloodless way out.

But it does pave the way for false defections, where Ukrainian bureacrats who can't move in time look at the faces of their small children and promise whatever is demanded of them - but later take opportunities when they arise.

This kind of short sighted decision making means the adults are not in charge in Donetsk.  They think about their immediate battle and choose options that will cause dreadful consequences over time.

Very stupid.

Anyone with any knowledge of how Tanks operate could have told them the same.

Anyone with an ear to hear it knew at first announcement that it was an empty deadline that simply meant they wanted to fight.

Possibly,,, but the East does not possess the forces able to remove the Ukrainians without Russian assistance.

I suspect it's more of a bluff than anything... but we will have to wait and see.

Battle is a funny thing in some ways.  It reveals things about people you would otherwise never see.

Many of the guys who talk the loudest will quit when the going gets tough.  Many of them will have been cowards from the beginning, hiding behind their words.

Many of those most confident turn out to be idiots or psychopaths who get themselves and their men killed.

A streetfight you can walk away from after the shooting is an entirely different matter.  It is comparatively easy to walk into a gun fight, hold your fear behind your teeth while you do your part, and then breathe out a sigh and talk tough when you are done.

Real battle is harder because you never let out that sigh.  The tension never leaves you.  And every day is walking into a gunfight.

You will learn who is who amongst those in Donetsk before this is over.

Such effort is better used building things.

This is unknown territory for everyone outside those places. Maybe the army/police/special forces disolved into these groups with all their weapons, but there are no hard proofs. It may be wise from Russia to help those guys, or maybe not, I don't know. But I expect Russians to storm the eastern UA regions once there will be too much blood.

The big issue is motivation:  can the greed of the Kiev junta, and the Galician hatred of Russia, outweigh the willingness of those in the East to fight and die for self-determination.

My bet is no, but we'll just have to wait and see.

The Kiev regime can leave its tanks (which should never have been sent to South East in the first place) behind if it can't move them.  That is probably what the South East is wanting.

That would constitute surrender of too much of their fighting force.  They will never do that voluntarily.

That's the whole point.  From Kiev's point of view it is preferable to lose the Army in a fight than to give it away.

Just for the hell of it I just checked CNN's web site to see how they were covering this issue. Come to find out they obviously have pulled coverage of the situation in Ukraine from their main web site page.  There was absolutely no reference to Ukraine anywhere.  This indicates a change in how TPTB are attempting to brainwash the sheep that go to sites like CNN for their "news".  Exactly what that change is, I'm not sure . . . what I am sure of is it won't be good.

Western Media really dropped coverage after the Odessa murders. I have looked into Main Stream Media for the last few days, Ukraine has been dropped. Now when an issue is raised to the top of the coverage, then the Washington State Department has something they want to get across to American public. When the media drops an issue, like Ukraine, that means the State Department wants silence, as things are not going their way. Odessa was so terrible an act, and so obviously mass murder, with many murderers faces all over the videos. I am sure the State Department wants silence until this war crime can be forgotten.

The Media also failed to report much after the elections. Obviously the very thought of voters voting makes the State Department cringe.

Silence will be broken once the US Government thinks of an angle to play, right now Russia has them in checkmate. No Russian inavsion, Kiev looking like nazi thugs with video proof of that fact, Ukraine bankrupt and operating on a billion US dollars we will never get back, Kiev in turmoil with deep divisons in parliament. Worst of all, in order to get the 17 billion in loans, the Kiev government must announce savage austerity, pay cuts, pension cuts, health care cuts, tax increases, fuel cost increases, you name it. So the media wants to be silent about the IMF rules for loans. Plus, Russia said that as of today, gas must be paid for.

Add it all up. I'de say Kiev is fucked, and Kiev is the US Media's darling. If your darling is gang raped, you don't want it published in all the papers, do you.

Nuland may go down in history as one of the worst fuck ups in modern doplomatic history. She is strangely silent about her favorite Ukrainian leader "Yats". Yats the IMF banker clown form Israel. Now there would be breaking news for CNN, "Yats" is a clown.

Whatever  you are watching it is not the US media.

Kiev is not a US media darling.  The word 'Ukraine' is rarely spoken or written in the US media.

You shouldn't believe what you are told.  Just go to the wester media websites and look at the headlines for yourself.

Ukraine news is buried.

Russian Channel 1's "Great Western Push to Invade Russia" is a fantasy.

See for your self.  Find the Ukraine headline (there are two - both of which are human interest stories:

Because influencing Russians is how the western media companies make all their money, right?

Here is what will happen.

Don't hold your breath for it to be overnight.

1) Donetsk attacks Ukrainian Army

2) Ukraine brings in reinforcements

3) Things begin to spiral out of control (They're not fighting "Out There", they're doing artillery attacks on the city!)

4) Putin declares the intention to intervene.

5) OButthole makes another meaningless red line - but more importantly NATO transitions to re-energizing the Folda-Gap scenario and begins real (not merely paliative) troop deployments.

6) Either Ukraine or Donetsk asks for peacekeepers through a European intermediary in the UN security council.

7) Bloodshed continues while proposal is repeatedly veto'd on the basis of who provides the troops.

8) A coalition of Eastern European nations with a few gulf nations thrown in offer to compose the troops.

9) Depending on which of the four superpowers peacekeeper's nations support, that super-power's policies will be implemented in Donetsk.  The four superpowers (None of whom are genuiinely allied, though some pretend to be) are US, EU, Russia, and China.

Given the location the only way the peacekeepers will be good for Russia in the medium term is if they come from one of China's satellites.  EU satellites are more likely.

I don't think so.

I think that Europe will approve proposals to establish an EU Army.   They will let NATO fight for a short period, while starving it of real resources, and using the lack of NATO success as justification to hugely increase military spending.

Doing this lets the EU break its umbilical cord to the US.  The US has been at best a midwife while the Europe project was being born or a post-WWII regent while plans matured.

Europe has always felt itself to be superior to the US, before, during, and after WWII.  Part of the maturing process for the EU will require centralizing the powers of Europe away from non-European players.  Why would Europe ever trust anyone else for its defense, who no matter how politically committed can never be as committed as Europeans are themselves?

The only question will be whether the Europe that results will be more like the Europe of the late middle ages, and enlightenment period with regard to foreign policy = many smaller wars.

Or will they become more like the 19th and 20th Century Europe that goes for winner-take-all conflagarations?

The Western Hemishere will be exhausted for some decades.  If they re-adopt the former free-market, free-society ways the come-back will be sooner.  If they don't then North America will be much like South America as far as the eye can see, with little opportunity, lots of nepotism, and rampant theft resulting in nearly no economy.

There is no way Putin et al are backing this clown. This clown is funded by Ukrainian Mafia money.

Could you imagine Putin surrounding himself with clowns like this guy? Could you see Putin et al going to the mattresses to protect a clown like this guy?

Look where things stand in South Ossetia.

In order for Putin to move up the middle, he needs clowns on the left of him, jokers to the right.

Things will get interesting once we find the joker.
