Meet Directive 3025.18 Granting Obama Authority To Use Military Force Against Civilians
While the "use of armed [unmanned aircraft systems] is not authorized," The Washington Times uncovering of a 2010 Pentagon directive on military support to civilian authorities details what critics say is a troubling policy that envisions the Obama administration’s potential use of military force against Americans. As one defense official proclaimed, "this appears to be the latest step in the administration’s decision to use force within the United States against its citizens." Meet Directive 3025.18 and all its "quelling civil disturbances" totalitarianism...
As The Washington Times reports,
Directive No. 3025.18, “Defense Support of Civil Authorities,” was issued Dec. 29, 2010, and states that U.S. commanders “are provided emergency authority under this directive.”
“Federal military forces shall not be used to quell civil disturbances unless specifically authorized by the president in accordance with applicable law or permitted under emergency authority,” the directive states.
“In these circumstances, those federal military commanders have the authority, in extraordinary emergency circumstances where prior authorization by the president is impossible and duly constituted local authorities are unable to control the situation, to engage temporarily in activities that are necessary to quell large-scale, unexpected civil disturbances” under two conditions.
The conditions include military support needed “to prevent significant loss of life or wanton destruction of property and are necessary to restore governmental function and public order.” A second use is when federal, state and local authorities “are unable or decline to provide adequate protection for federal property or federal governmental functions.”
A U.S. official said the Obama administration considered but rejected deploying military force under the directive during the recent standoff with Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy and his armed supporters.
“Federal action, including the use of federal military forces, is authorized when necessary to protect the federal property or functions,” the directive states.
Military assistance can include loans of arms, ammunition, vessels and aircraft. The directive states clearly that it is for engaging civilians during times of unrest.
There is one silver lining (for now)...

the dictate clearly removes the state from the decision process by the federal claim of protecting "federal" property and functions. since the federal .gov has managed to weave its way into all state .gov functions by virtue of the fed budget all state functions come under this federal edict so federal .gov just declared the state cannot stop a federal military invasion with a mission to protect "federal" property.
i like the part where the order covers the contingency that the state declines to protect federal property. the states are federal property according to federal .gov policy. there will be no seceding from your federal masters.

This directive grants Obama nothing.
This directive is Obama granting ALL OFFICERS OF THE MILITARY SERVICES the authority to conduct military operations against the People of the United States under certain conditions, nuclear biological or chemical attacks, insurrection, etc.
This makes nothing legal. This says nothing about REQUIRING the assent of civil authorities, or the State Governor (except when using the Nat'l Guard). It says they have immediate authority NOW.
The problem is that it is totally extra-constitutional, utterly undemocratic, and wholly autocratic. In short it is like most of what we've gotten from Washington for over a decade.
This directive is, simply put, STALINIST.

You make some good points, particularily about state requests being irrelevant if the situation meets certain conditions. But, like Ive been saying, it just doesn't seem like some brand new power hes granted. As I see it, this power has always been there and we're just knee jerking now. Remember when Kennedy took control of the alabama guard to force Wallace to integrate the schools? I dont recall there being any successful legal challenge to that, and it seems like the same power.
The precident was Eisenhower bringing in troops to integrate Little Rock, Arkansas schools when Governor Orvile Faubus refused to integrate. You don't mess with Mother Nature.

Decade? How about throughout the history of government. Government is the creeping crud. They start out small and illegally. Then they ratchet up in small chunks and cite "precedence" for their legitimacy when the rights they claim are clearly illegal (i.e. unconstitutional).
The Fed thinks 2% is the right amount for inflation to be ... but over 100 years has brought us 4%.
I say let's apply the Fed principles to the size of government. Since the Fed has had control of the dollar (100 years), the 4% inflation it has given us makes the dollar worth only about $0.02.
Let's set an objective to reduce "all governments" by 2% per year. If we do that, in 100 years they will be about 1/10th the size they are now. And if we adopt the Fed's ability to miss targets (i.e. we reduce at 4% instead of 2%), governments will be 1/50th the size they are now ... and tax requirements should be 1/50th as well.
Do you realize this all got started with an inflation rate of 1.6% putting a heavy load on the poor through increased cost of living? And the solution (supported by states which would pay the least) was to tax the wealthy.
Well, look what that has gotten us. We all (including we unwealthy) are paying over 50% of our income in total taxes.
In the beginning, only 1/5th of the population was paying to support the Federal government. Now, only 1/5th is "not" paying to support the Federal government. And now over 50% of us work for the government or are dependent on the government. How do you think we're going to vote when it comes to a measure to reduce government?
The creeping crud has moved past the tipping point. The best thing we could do is encourage its growth to bring about its collapse sooner.

Here's what I have to say. If the definition of President of the United States has changed either by actions or by purpose then the United States of America does not have a President. Instead they have someone that is fulfilling duties for some other entity. That seems to be the case with Obama, the Bushes and the Clintons. So whatever they say, who cares. They have all committed treason. The United States of America would likely have functioned much better if the Office of the President was never filled.

I saw in the NW suburbs of Chicago the other day an Expedition marked as an Amtrak K9 patrol vehicle. Keeping America's transit system safe was marked right on the vehicle. That it was nowhere near a set of railroad tracks didn't bother me much as there was a Dunkin Donuts right up the street. As I drove to a sales call in a 1099 straight commission job where I pay 12.3 percent of income just in SS payments I wondered what this mans workday looked like. I wondered how much he made a year and his benefits. I wondered why for every mile an Amtrak passenger travels we ,, that is you and me who pay taxes at least, subsidize that losing venture to the tune of tens and sometime hundreds of dollars per passenger trip. I did however sure feel safer knowing he was keeping me safe in my travels. I was going to follow him into the Dunkin Donuts and volunteer to direct him to the nearest set of RR tracks in my suburb but I didn't as I had an appointment to get to. He may not have thought I was funny if I volunteered those directions but I would have assured him I wasn't trying to be funny and was in reality quite serious. There were 8 city cops at red blinking traffic lights at a major intersection in my suburb ticketing people who were on cellphones or not wearing seat belts. Milking the sheep who pay suburban patrolman on average 75 K a year plus full benefits. Had enough yet? Want to hear more? Nah,, I didin't think so.

Force as you are thinking of it will only continue the cycle. This cycle that society has been repeating for a long time. As a few others have noted. The fiat era must come to an end. For that to happen it will have to happen globaly. Because you cannot compete with fiat for a piece of gum forget about millitarily.
Think global stall. It could actually get the results we want. They want a fight they think they are sure to win. Dont fall for it. Build the global honesty movement. Abuse the koolaid drinking tools every time they open thier mouths. The truth can take a beating, lies not so much. They get away with the lies by backing them up with force. A global stall could take the ability to use force off the table. Sure its a long shot but to me its our best shot.
