Someone Decided To Buy $1 Billion eMinis In 1 Second At The All Time High

Tyler Durden's picture

Someone decided that 1436ET was the perfect time to buy $1bn worth of S&P 500 futures (10k contracts) in 1 second (and $1.8 billion in that minute)... this flush of volume is the largest minute of the day and lifted all equity indices and ETFs in one magical move. As a result of the order, bonds rallied even as and VIX is higher on the day.

10k contracts in 1 second and 18.6k contracts in that minute...

and Bonds rallied...

There are two sides to every trade.  If somebody bought 1 million contracts then somebody else sold (short?) 1 million contracts.

Time will tell who is smart one in the trade.

Generally speaking with a chart like that it would be existing shorts that did the buying; in the form of stop losses, which are execut ed as market orders when triggered, and locals and smart money that did the selling; so I would expect that the sellers will be taking profits at lower prices within two or three days  replying to ob1knob

Some people have been calling for a "world currency" for years. the saying "one should never let a good crisis go to waste" means that a meltdown with high levels of fear would present a perfect opportunity and catalyst to advance this agenda down the field. that was nothing more than a stop run, surely you guys are used to them by now....

They happen all the time in most markets.

If a guy could see actual open interest I bet you would see a drop in open interest when it happens.

But of course that is not available to us little guys. We get 3 day old data from our ever vigilant CFTC.

It is a great play if a guy can get it. Set a stop same limit order where you think the stops are and hope for the best. (Most do not fill). That is the problem...

An unholy alliance of the Federal Reserve, the government, and the too big to fail has left the rest of us in a precarious position. For the big boys, its insider information and computer trading, this includes computing patterns that exploit where stops are placed, this improves their ability to wash the weak out of their positions.

The bottom-line is that the higher the market goes the more vulnerable it becomes to a major collapse and sudden downward move. More on this subject in the article below.
