Socialism ALWAYS fails. To bad current in-charge Socialists always think...

"This time it will be different!" and that it will work for them.

I did not say that - please don't put words in my mouth.

Their Socialism can be both "thought to work" AND "intentional."

If you reply to MY comment with, "You're assuming..." what am I supposed to think?

I think maybe you ought to learn to word you replies to other people's comments with a little more thought.

And for your information... I'm ALWAYS relaxed. And I'm not your Bud. Chill...

Buddy,  You've been a member for over 2 years.  It's a common practice here to make a reply even when only commenting on the article. As if your comment had any relevance to VAD's comment.

Yes, I agree... I do the same.

But I think a better choice of words on your part would have been "The article assumes..."

rather than, "You're assuming..."

Don't you agree?

That's a pretty big reason. Property rights, individual freedoms, etc. However, the clown prince of dc is all about changing that and is on a warpath against the middle class. It is widely believed by these progressive types that a weaker America is better for the world as a whole. The fact of the matter is no one could be this consistently incompetent. Imo a weaker America and wiped out middle class is going to be found to be a very bad assumption for Americans. Obama like Bernanke will be judged by history as the two biggest fools of our generation.

Obama uses incompetence to cover up his evil intentions.  For the longest time I couldn't figure out which it was.  I now realize it's both.  Between the NSA spying relevations (VASTLY expanded under Obama's watch) and the newly-discovered 2010 directive to allow military force against US civilians on US soil (conincidentally, just after sweepeing Tea Party victories in Congress), I am convinced it's not just incompetence.  He has ACTUAL ill intenitions towards the citizens of his own country.

I also learned something else.  He's scared.

Nobody does stuff like that unless they're crapping themselves there might be a popular uprising against them.  He's a 3rd world dictator running a 1st world country.

We've let "health care" become the defining property of our economy.  Let's say you work for 30 years pulling lattes at Starbuclks for $30K a year.  You would have made $900K, but taxes probably would have taken $400K of it, so your life had a $500K benefit to society.

Then you get sick, hopefully you are older than 65, and you get a bypass and spend a couple weeks in ICU.  YOU JUST COST SOCIETY MORE THAN YOU MADE IN YOUR LIFETIME!  That's the bitter equation.  Most people will consume more in health care costs than they produce in their lifetime, let alone Larry's "distressed babies".

Your leaders consider you worth more dead than alive, unless you're serving in the military, and you see how well those promised benefits are working out.

Exactly!! And how can it be "insurance" if almost everyone will be consuming the benefits at a rate higher than they contributed. An insurance fund collects premiums to cover the rare events that might occur. I magine if 70 to 80% of all homes burned to the ground at some point or if 90% of all cars are invoved in accidents and were totaled. That is what we have going on today. It is unsustainable.

This will go on for a long time before it burns itself out. The U.S. is a vast country with still a lot o resources and wealth. It can take a lot more of abuse before it finally starts to crack. I would asume that the oligarchs are busy looking at ways to flush Obama and thinking hard on who the next errand boy (or girl) will be. Most likely another Democrat and a woman to continue deliver what they need.Hillary in 2016! Or maybe that black mayor who is currently being looked over at Bilderberg meeting. After all - what´s the competition...nothing that easily can´t be propagandized away. And this will go on as long as the sleeping giant refuses to wake up.

"judged by history as the biggest fools of our generation"

Not neccessarily. History is written by the winners. Most people are taught things pattently untrue about our past leaders. lincolns war against the constitution and the wholy unneccessary bloodshed of the civil war is painted as a war for the freedom of slaves, nevermind that every other country in the western world rid itself of slavery without war. FDR, whose policies prolonged and worstened the great depression is heroicly remembered for his altruism. Nevermind the fact that some of his creations are bankrupting us. He is seen as the leader who helped the allies win WWII. Ignored is the fact that Japan was making overtures of peace which he refused, since despite him saying he had no desire to get us involved in WWII, he was looking for any reason to bring us into it. Thats just 2 examples of terrible presidents who are lioned by most people. There are thousands of other examples. no reason to think the same won't be done with obama and bernanke

With respect, but collectivism always fails and the Obama administration's record smells more of the fascist brand of collectivism than socialism.

Even Obamacare is of the fascist brand. If they wanted to "socialize" healthcare instead of turning it into a pot of gold for big insurance, hospitals and pharma, they would have just expanded Medicaid.

Read Obama's own words on the subject. It's a process for these people. He knew he could not get single payer right away. His statements are clear that he would prefer a socialized form and the insurance companies are going to be put out of business as the system implodes as planned.

That jives with my conclusion of the dictator.  He is letting the corpos concentrate everything from technology, healthcare, identity, money, and more.  They are running like mad doing just that.  He knows that they will go so top heavy that they collapse.  He will be there to pick up the pieces and nationalize each industry in turn.

Socialism leads to communism but sometimes with a jaunt thru fascism along the way.

These forms of government are facades for either the oligarchy, the autocracy (dictator/monarch), and the republic.

I am not certain if there are any republics left on the face of the planet. There are more likely dicatorships in existance like North Korea.

The vast majority of all countries are oligarchies. That is what all western counties are. Some of us used to be relatively benevolent oligarchies - though I am fairly certain that time is ending or has ended. Now, we are just oligarchies ran solely by extremely greedy and sociopathic special interests. By the way, thats what China/Russia/South America/Mexico and many others have always been - we are just catching down to them.

this is why the VA shitstorm needs to be swept away asap before it becomes common knowledge that the VA IS a single payer system and indicative of what's in store. Both parties want socialized meds despite what the red team says. Stealing freedom is a bi-partisan endeavor.

The way this democratic republic works the law must be signed by the president. Until the whole leadership (House, Senate, and president) is turned over upside down I agree nothing is changing. Unless you can override his veto and that's not happening because of sheer numbers, nothing changes. The president is still the overriding problem and he's not going anywhere soon.
