Mapping 100 Years Of US Immigration By State
Several days ago, we looked at the big picture of US immigration, presenting the place of origin of America's 40 million foreign-born residents. However, as is always the case with the US, focusing on the big picture at the national level ignores the nuances at the state level.
The following two charts using Pew Research data, compiled by the WaPo, show the dramatic changes in the land of origin of US immigrants, beginning with 1910 when Germany was the primary driver of US-born residents, accounting for 18% of US immigrants, and proceeding through 2010, when Mexico has become the the biggest source of foreign-born residents: the birthplace of 29% of all immigrants in the US.

With more than 40 million immigrants, the United States is the top destination in the world for those moving from one country to another. Mexico, which shares a nearly 2,000-mile border with the U.S., is the source of the largest wave of immigration in history from a single country to the United States.
But today’s volume of immigrants, in some ways, is a return to America’s past. A century ago, the U.S. experienced another large wave of immigrants. Although smaller at 18.2 million, they hailed largely from Europe. Many Americans can trace their roots to that wave of migrants from 1890-1919, when Germany dominated as the country sending the most immigrants to many of the U.S. states, although the United Kingdom, Canada and Italy were also strongly represented.
In 1910, Germany was the top country of birth among U.S. immigrants, accounting for 18% of all immigrants (or 2.5 million) in the United States. Germans made up the biggest immigrant group in 17 states and the District of Columbia, while Mexico accounted for the most immigrants in just three states (Arizona, New Mexico and Texas). Behind Germany, the second-most number of immigrants in the U.S. were from Russia and the countries that would become the USSR (11%, or 1.6 million).
Since 1965, when Congress passed legislation to open the nation’s borders, immigrants have largely hailed from Latin America and Asia. In states that have attracted many immigrants, the current share of immigrants is below peaks reached more than a century ago. Today there are four states (California, New York, New Jersey and Florida) in which about one-in-five or more people are foreign born. California peaked in 1860 at 39.7%, when China was the top country of birth among immigrants there. Meanwhile, New York and New Jersey peaked in 1910 at 30.1% (Russia and the USSR) and 26.2% (Italy), respectively.
Today, five times as many immigrants in the U.S. are from Mexico than China, the country with the second-highest number of immigrants (5% of all immigrants in the U.S., or 2.2 million). Mexico is the birthplace of 29% (or 11.7 million) of all immigrants in the United States. Immigrants born in Mexico account for more than half of all of the foreign born in four states: New Mexico (72.4%), Arizona (60.2%), Texas (59.7%) and Idaho (53.5%).
Of note: while until 1970, the percentage of US population that was foreign born steadily declined, reaching just 5%, over the past 40 years, as the organic growth rate of US-born population has declined below the rate of immigration, the percentage of immigrants as a % of total has been rising steadily and is now back to a level not seen in the past century.

Except you are wrong. In regions of tribal societies, there have always been patterns of extemely stable and peaceful dialogue. Rarely before the advent of hiearchial statism and nationalism were there conflicts on large sacle. All wars are fought between state actors. When there are no state actors, there are no wars.

At this point in time they're all just international brands with no real national loyality except in the mind of the people that buy them. If you buy a BMW you may think you're buying a German product but the car was probably assembled in the US from parts made globally.
And the fact is that the US did not start either WWI or WWII. But the US did help put a stop to German and Japanese agression. We didn't do it by ourselves but we did offer a lot of help and when it came to the Japanese we were responsible for taking the fight to their home island.
And where would those two economies be right now without the US providing the Marshal Plan to Europe and allowing Japan to form a constitutional democracy allowing it to move away form its fuedal form of government.
Have the American people fallen in the last decade(s) or so, yes, but not without the help of its government and media.

Actually, most pay taxes including social security. There's no need to pay illegals under the table anymore. They just use fake socials etc. So it goes into the social security fund. The gov really likes that. They pay property taxes as well. If you own, and illegals can own property de-facto, you must pay. Healthcare wise they can be a drag on the system as they know they can go to the hospital and never have to pay. Motor vehicle law is another story though. Many do not pay insurance, taxes etc. because they know nothing will happen to them if they are caught. I was a victim of an uninsured illegal a few years ago. They caused an accident and I lost $2500 they lost a buy here pay here car and got free healthcare. Had it been me with no insurance I would have had to pay huge fines and lost my license.
Illegal immigrant crime is an issue in many parts of the country. Some not so much. In my neck of the woods the illegals are mostly construction workers that are family focused. Funny that North Dakota's largest source of immigrants in 1910 was from Norway, because ND today with its oil boom reminds me a lot of what happened to Norway when it had its own oil boom. Like ND, Norway used to be one of the most sparse and poorest countries in Europe. Now it's one of the richest but most expensive due to the oil. Some places in ND have rent going up to $2500+ a month, which is unthinkable considering ND used to be a pretty low income state for the longest of time.

"Blowback" is a grossly insufficient term to describe the real ways that hurricane force social storms are going to be caused. One tiny example was the the first marijuana laws in the USA were in Texas, against Mexican immigrants. Eventually, Federal USA marijuana laws enabled the growth of the Mexican drug cartels, by providing those organized crime gangs with billions of dollars of profits, year after year, decade after decade. Meanwhile, the oligarchs were still at the top of the social pyramid systems, skimming the cream off of the black market, with relatively impunity to launder that money at the highest levels. The oligarchs profit from the basic systems of debt slavery, backed by wars based on deceits. The locals in my area are drunk on power and are unable to control any amount of spending.
In the middle of a deep economic depression and all these assholes want to do is raise taxes and waste it on worthless projects.
We're surrounded by four major ports. One in Pensacola, one in Tampa, one in Miami, and one in Jacksonville. You could also throw in the port located in Mobile, Alabama.
These yahoo's want to build another port just so they can collect the property taxes from it. And, not a port like those were normally accustomed to. This port would be on the Gulf and because the continental shelf trails off the ships would have to sit out a mile in the Gulf while a barge is used to load/offload the containers. The barge would then have to sail back to land and then load/offload. No matter how much people have pointed out that this is worthless they continue to spend thousands and thousands of dollars on consultants to come up with plans on how it could be done.
We have neither the infrastructure or money to make this happen. No private groups have stepped up to the plate to show any interest in making it happen.
No tax revenues to feed the beast? No more tax base to ensure the perenity of the State?

They are doing jobs most Americans won't do (or can't physically do): picking crops, housecleaning services, janitorial services, what have you. 1/3 of the US population are not just overweight, but obese (CDC). I don't think some unemployed, fat desk jockey, with diabetes and/or heart disease will be out in the field picking fruit, no matter the wage. He'd die in the field, day 1. He knows this, if only subconsciously, and avoids doing so.
Also, as pointed out in another ZH article, the highest welfare cliff is around $60k, if you meet the right conditions. Why work and struggle, when you can sit on your ass and collect some sort of handout, or unemployment for years on-end? This is what the highly-specialized-yet-unemployed worker, or welfare queen/king will do.
Some of it does have to do with employment choices. Many people think, if they get the ever-ubiquitous MBA, or BA in Underwater Basket Weaving with a minor in African Women's Studies, they are entitled to a high-paying job. Entitled, not an increased chance of landing a job, but entitled to it.

I’m very well acquainted with the career of Sam Francis. He was a paleoconservative and an incredibly courageous writer who believed in conservative causes and the importance of the American culture. You may be thinking of ways to categorize him with groups and individuals who tried to use him for their own agendas, including the Southern Poverty Law Center, but you make the mistake of judging one of the greatest conservatives through guilt-by-association. It does not work because you will not find one word that Sam Francis has written that will support your charge.
He respected and allowed all viewpoints but retained his own on one of the strongest paths of American courage that I’ve ever witnessed.
Before you extend your unwarranted attack on a great man, you should delve a little deeper into your research than the writings from the Southern Poverty Law Center adopted by Google.
Or as some call it,
the Socialist Poverty Law Center.
They have to label you a "white supremacist hate group" in the hopes that you'll just shut up and go away.
