Again, the question for US citizens should be Russia's foreign policy, not its internal politics. Whether Putin is a "dictator", good or bad for Russia, should be for the Russian people to decide.
If Putin helps expose NSA spying and the US-contrived overthrow of elected governments, and helps thwart provocative and danger-filled NATO expansion, applause is deserved, I say.
It is illogical and arrogant to contend that foreigners who oppose destructive US policies
