The middle east is like watching a 5 way rooster cock fight at the bottom of a septic tank. An islamic septic tank. Their entire culture and religon is unrepairably dysfunctional in a modern world.

Somehow this will be blamed on Bush/Cheney and Obama will wash his hands of his 6 years of being in the drivers seat, and arming Sunni jihadists.

So we get rid of Saddam and now the tribes are going at each other again.

It's like Rome trying to conquer Scotland.

Ooops.

Ford wasnt blamed for losing Vietnam, Obama won't be blamed for losing Iraq. however if he loses Afghanistan that would look pretty weak. the neocons would turn that peace prize against him (you and i think Obama is a closet dictator, in love with war, but they will spin his foreign policy as feckless and timid. that peace prize could become the campaign symbol of his weak leadership - which is good for HILLARY i suppose - she can promise to put boots on the ground in Iran) there will be a lot of finger pointing, and perceptions get turned around. the issue comes down to the american people can they accept another national failure (which takes a certain strength in their character) or will the loss put them in an even more militant vengeful frame of mind. the post Vietnam time is a useful analogy. we also cleaned up the political process, by impeaching a president and passing a number of sunshine laws on campaign finance, but things are way out of hand compared to the modest amounts of graft and corruption at the time. using the feds money tree any new war could go off balance sheet we are effectively past the need for raising revenue with taxes (which LBJ did). i say better than 50% chance americans go for the sword, enforce the pax americus on the ME, but at a terrible cost including a much wider defeat of US ambitions. dangerous times

...passing a number of sunshine laws on campaign finance...

You said "sunshine laws".

Ha!

And this current executive with his "branches", "czars", and "orders" being so well vetted by the fourth estate before, during and after election cycles have so distinguished themselves as irrelevant, complicit and even antagonistic to "reporting" the truth, we now find ourselves engaged in and on the precipice of global violence once again.

Short of the guillotine many here have referenced, I find no other adequate remedy for these people and the organizations they represent and espouse as being open and fair.

Perhaps there could be a second drive up order window like at McDonalds where we could have these individuals dispatched every other one to Central Banker lackeys.

Just a thought, and an opinion.

you are stuck in the illusion. or perhaps you are explaining how trivial politics and public perception are stuck in a nonsense illusion that is endlessly talked about on mass media in order to make nonsense out of situation and confuse those who want to feel as if they know or care about what is happening.

napolean first became widespread famous for his triumph upon returning from defeat in egypt.

you are talking about theatre as if it is important, or rather you are actually stuck in the theatre.

take a step back and stop bothering with that nonsense persepctive to keep everyone busy while actual history unfolds.

The important thing to note about this ISIS group is they are very well organized and they cut their teeth in the Syria conflict.

So whoever is the genius that thought oening that can of worms was a good idea, can now scratch his head and ponder this.

Another thing to note about them is they embrace foreign Jihadists (i.e., from England and the US) and organize them into their own brigades.

Some other genius can ponder that.

No doubt i t will mean more NSA probes shoved up our collective asses.

Finally, they make the contingent our intelligence agencies favor look like a women's garden club.

it sure seems as though we have pursued al qaeda this last 10 or so years in order to make them an efficient organized fighting force, and that we have elevated them from a group of a few dozen suicide bombers into a army capable of defeating our surrogates anywhere in the world. and we have done this without any help from our cold war enemies, the international communist conspiracy. not to be perverse but if you are going to have a war on terror, you first have to make the enemy into a credible force, and so we gave them money and other aid, so now the war on terror can begin. such is the political process.

After they carve up Iraq they're going to head west and absorb Jordan. With that in hand they'll wander south to knock on Kuwait's door as well as Bahrain, and Qatar; and then OOPS! they'll see about the Saudi's & Yemini. Turkey just might want a piece of this action as well which would be fine. Egypt will sign on as long as it gets to send a couple hundred thousand of their sweet boys up to...... Israel.

Which would be end game.

I give it 1 year.

We have seen the toppling of monarchies before. It can happen very easy. If this is as bad is it looks, the Sauds must be shitting bricks. And they can go and fuck five camels because they brought it all on themselves.

The real issue is IRAN. They already have combat forces in Iraq attempting to stop the "Super Sunni's" (SS for short) from running writ-f-ng-large across the land. The Alqueda S.S. can't fight both Israel and Iran at the same time.

This is going to suck for the planet but will be strangely interesting to watch unfold. Like a train wreck on a global scale. It's a good F'ng thing the Russians and the Chinese aren't acting frisky these days! Boy that would suck!

Oh, wait...............

Parquet Courts - Careers in Combat

There are no more summer lifeguard jobs.
There are no more art museums to guard.
The lab is out of white lab coats,
Cause there are no more slides and microscopes.
But there are still careers in combat, my son.
There are still careers in combat, my son.

There are no more roles on TV shows,
There are no road-cone dispensing jobs.
There are no spots left for park ranger
Cause there are no bears left to save you from,
But there are still careers in combat, my son.
There are still careers in combat, my son.
