The Latest From Iraq - The Complete Troop Movements

Tyler Durden's picture

With stocks up and oil down, Iraq must be fixed?

However, things appear to be just as atrocious...

And it appears the locals aren't staying around to check...

And as The Institute for the Study of War notes, the violent clashes continue from north to south in Iraq.

BLOWBACK! U.S. TRAINED ISIS AT SECRET JORDAN BASE

Described as covert aid to insurgents targeting al-Assad

Published: 4 hours ago

AARON KLEIN About | Email | Archive

Aaron Klein is WND's senior staff reporter and Jerusalem bureau chief. He also hosts "Aaron Klein Investigative Radio" on Salem Talk Radio. Follow Aaron on Twitter and Facebook.

JERUSALEM – Members of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIS, were trained in 2012 by U.S. instructors working at a secret base in Jordan, according to informed Jordanian officials.

The officials said dozens of ISIS members were trained at the time as part of covert aid to the insurgents targeting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in Syria. The officials said the training was not meant to be used for any future campaign in Iraq.

The Jordanian officials said all ISIS members who received U.S. training to fight in Syria were first vetted for any links to extremist groups like al-Qaida.

In February 2012, WND was first to report the U.S., Turkey and Jordan were running a training base for the Syrian rebels in the Jordanian town of Safawi in the country’s northern desert region.

That report has since been corroborated by numerous other media accounts.

Last March, the German weekly Der Spiegel reported Americans were training Syrian rebels in Jordan.

Quoting what it said were training participants and organizers, Der Spiegel reported it was not clear whether the Americans worked for private firms or were with the U.S. Army, but the magazine said some organizers wore uniforms. The training in Jordan reportedly focused on use of anti-tank weaponry.

The German magazine reported some 200 men received the training over the previous three months amid U.S. plans to train a total of 1,200 members of the Free Syrian Army in two camps in the south and the east of Jordan.

Britain’s Guardian newspaper also reported last March that U.S. trainers were aiding Syrian rebels in Jordan along with British and French instructors.

Reuters reported a spokesman for the U.S. Defense Department declined immediate comment on the German magazine’s report. The French foreign ministry and Britain’s foreign and defense ministries also would not comment to Reuters.

The Jordanian officials spoke to WND amid concern the sectarian violence in Iraq will spill over into their own country as well as into Syria.

ISIS previously posted a video on YouTube threatening to move on Jordan and “slaughter” King Abdullah, whom they view as an enemy of Islam.

WND reported last week that, according to Jordanian and Syrian regime sources, Saudi Arabia has been arming the ISIS and that the Saudis are a driving force in supporting the al-Qaida-linked group.

WND further reported that, according to a Shiite source in contact with a high official in the government of Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki, the Obama administration has been aware for two months that the al-Qaida-inspired group that has taken over two Iraqi cities and now is threatening Baghdad also was training fighters in Turkey.

The source told WND that at least one of the training camps of the group Iraq of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Syria, the ISIS, is in the vicinity of Incirlik Air Base near Adana, Turkey, where American personnel and equipment are located.

He called Obama “an accomplice” in the attacks that are threatening the Maliki government the U.S. helped establish through the Iraq war.

The source said that after training in Turkey, thousands of ISIS fighters went to Iraq by way of Syria to join the effort to establish an Islamic caliphate subject to strict Islamic law, or Shariah.

Maybe ISIS attack on Iraq is not blow-back but preplanned, financed and organized by the US and its allies for a specific reason.

If that is so, then we're all waiting to hear the justification for financing and spreading terror after all the US and Iraqi blood that was spilled fighting these parties.

The Institute for the Study of War ARE the neocon Yalies that are running this Op! Definitely keep on eye on their 'analysis' for clues on what comes next. Ukraine is part of the Benghazi/Syria/ISIS/ISIL Op though they dont appear to be connected. Ukraine rubblization shuts off Russian gas to EU while ISIS supplies Middle East gas to EU. BRILLIANT! It takes a long time to plan an Op like this, it must have started under Hillary at the latest.

Not as compelling a pattern until you add:

1. Sen. John F Kerry, USSOS = Yale, Skull & Bones.

2. Pres. GW Bush (Jr) = Yale, Skull & Bones.  Gets PDB (Presidential Daily Briefing), same copy as presiding POTUS (Obama)

3. Pres. GHW Bush (Sr) = Yale, Skull & Bones.  Gets PDB (Presidential Daily Briefing), same copy as presiding POTUS (Clinton, Bush, Obama)

4. The Bush family and the Saudis go back DECADES.  Best of pals with King of Jordan too, whose wife Noor is... American born (DC) and educated (Princeton).

5. Remember that the Bin Ladens were the only ones in the US, who were allowed to fly on the 3 days after 9/11?  Remember Bandar Bush?

6. Oil = Petrodollars, and USD = funding for Everything the Globalists/Neocons/Zionists NWO want or need.  And why "Oil is thicker than blood".

If you see things as they are, rather than as you wish them to be, do you see the old spider at the center of it all?  The spider who ran the DEA in Miami, before running the CIA?  The same spider who put Rumsfeld and Cheney into positions of power in the first place?  Remember "W" spending almost as much time at home (with Dad) as he spent at the WH?

The Kagans and Hillary are just the visible part of the Iceberg.  They're the Next Generation, the New Kids on The Block.  Of a very old Block.

Do you know WHY?  Because these skills of underhandedness, deception and subterfuge are inherent skill in Aristocrats, Nobility and Bankers.

It has been perfected over many centuries, and passed from parent to child, from one generation to the next.

If you compare that to even the most "educated" of Americans, you typically get the "Me-centric" worldview:  "Me, me, me, me, me!  Narcissistic me.  I'll make a bunch, and spend it all on me.  And my last check will bounce."  ZERO trans-generational wealth planning in the rabble that are the Commoners of the US.

And then you wonder why the rich & powerful stay that way.  And why they want to make the Public comfortably numb and dumb, and why they want to to destroy Public Education.  And why they want to reduce everything to Fundamentalism -- in the ME, Africa, the EU and US.  Feudal masters and Overlords want their Sheeple meek, dumb and under-educated.  Alas, too many are all too happy to oblige.

I don't get the "blowback" part of the US having trained these guys.  Are they not slaughtering Syrians?  Are they not slaughtering Shi'ites in Iraq, potentially drawing Iran into the bloodbath?  Are they not threatening Iraq's oil export potential, keeping those resources effectively in storage for recovery later, and keeping prices high?  Isn't all this violence contributing to general stress and pressure on China, Russia, Iran and the EU?

"Evil," yes.  "Brutal," yes.  But "blowback?"  Seems like things are staying very much to plan.

The ISIS was ALLOWED to march into Iraq by Obama's military. They control the air and it is fucking desert so it is pretty hard to move without being spotted from above....

By not doing anything, either fowarding intelligence to the Iraq's to prepare ambushes, blow up roads to slow the advance or do it themselves they implicitly ALLOWED the ISIS to march on a supposed ally without providing some support to them.

This wasn't blowback if was ALLOWED to happen with no resistance to the move. They most certainly could have done something to slow their movement or hinder it long enough for the Iraqi military to do something before they got as far as they did.

Nothing is what it seems about the whole 'ISIS in Iraq' deceptiion.

The media's first, loudest and most consistent lies are - like clockwork - the best tell.

ISIS numbers? Best guesses were about five or six thousand left western Syria for Iraq. That leaves a thousand or two to hold all ISIS territory in Syria. This is the territory that the FSA and JAN are fighting for - the Syrian oilfields. Now does it make any sense for ISIS to leave their cash cow (oil sales to Assad or smuggled to Turkey) left in the hands of maybe a thousand fighters in Syria when the JAN head-choppers and FSA very much want that same prize right now?

Then consider how it is even physically possible for a few thousand ISIS guys in pickup trucks to 'take over' all these dozens of Iraqi cities and loot the banks. Mosul is over a half-million, itself. This is just stupid-improbable. This is all a bad ruse to explain a planned infusion of cash and arms to the Syrian opposition before the serious Russian gear gets to Assad this fall.

Iran? They made some token offer to 'help' al-Maliki, but they recognize him for the genocidal butcher that he is. Shiites felt opressed when Saddam was in power, so Malaki (a Shiite) has been running a payback ethnic cleansing campaign since the CIA 'approved' his presidency. Even when the U.S. was still on the ground, Malaki was busy butchering Sunnis he didn't like in his torture chambers. He steals a huge chunk of most of the U.S. reconstruction aid, and takes millions from Iraqi oil sales. In other words, the U.S. just created and enables a Saddam II for the unfortunate Iraqis. The Iranian government even hates him. His only connection with Iran was associating with the low-life militant Shiite jihadists in Iran a decade ago. Of course, that fact doesn't make the news. CNN is sure all of Iran supports al-Maliki because... well, he's Shiite and so is Iran! (Any excuse to bomb and invade Iran, of course).

Not sure how this will play out, but I'm guessing this has a lot more to do with the U.S. - with plenty of plausable deniability - arming ISIS/JAN/FSA to the teeth with guns, heavy artillery and undoubtedly a few MANPADS. Watch the fake surprise when ISIS starts taking down Syrian helecopters. Yes, of course ISIS is going back to Syria. This isn't anything but a huge Iraqi arms-looting spree (thanks, U.S. taxpayers!). The fake ISIS 'troops' are just the delivery boys. The Iraqi soldiers certianly seem to understand their part in this charade. I'm sure all the Iraqi arms warehouses taken over were bursting at the seams with tons of new U.S. arms.

ISIS now has maybe a half-dozen huge ISF ammunition depots, several anti-aircraft batteries and scores of artillery sites. They don't seem too interested in armor. There is no border between Syria and Iraq anymore, so I would expect ISIS convoys of U.S.-supplied weaponry, ammuniton and explosives to be streaming back into Syria. You can already see vids of  ISIS, i.e,, Blackwater - Xe Services - Academi,  execution gangs killing Iraqi soldiers with newly-looted M16s. God bless America!

Iran is nothing but a convenient Wal*mart for Saudi Arabia and Qatar to get arms to Syria. Jordan and Turkey have outlived their usefulness.

It's the Saudi's doing the blowing back after America failed to follow through on the chemical weapons propoganda and go all in to Syria.  Obama pissed them off - backed down from the agreed on plan - so now all that build up to overthrow Syria has to flow somewhere.  Oh yeah, Iraq is America's darling in the region - let's turn em lose there...  Even if they don't win it will/is sure as hell hurting the administration politically.  Saudi's are pissed.

These reports about US training of Al-Qaeda terrorists in Jordan and Turkey simply confirm what I have posted on here for two years. It has been an open secret that the USA and NATO are engaged in arming, funding and training all forms of Jihadists in the hope to use them against Syria. Since the border between Syria and Ira is open and both share Sunni populations, then ISIS is free to take US trained terrorists funded by US tax payer money and funnel them into Iraq to conquer a terrorist kingdom.

CNN and FOX refuse to publish this information that is commonly known and has been for over two years. The American media has blacked out the CIA's role in funding and training terrorists. Or the CIA use of Libya as a store of arms and trained Jihadists. Jordan and Turkey, one a NATO member have housed traing camps run by NATO special forces all engaged in arming and training terrorists from the EU, Biritain and Libya. Yes, over 2,000 EU passport holders are members of Al-Qaeda and ISIS. The numbers may be even higher. Britain may have over 1,000 British citizens engaged as members of Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Presssed by these reoprts, the EU and British governments say they are concerned, but have done nothing to stop free movement of these Jihadists back and forth to Europe and Syria/Iraq. Immigration has no plan to stop any of these thousands of terrorists from using their EU passports to return home to Europe after fighting for Al-Qaeda or ISIS.

So, you can see that NATO is officially arming, training, funding, transporting and supplying terrorists. All the while CNN qnd FOX report the innocent west are victims of Jihadists! Go figure that one, if you can.

This is exactly what is happening.  The Saudi oil fields are shagged out.  They have to inject tons of seawater now to keep the oil pumping.   All of their loans are backed by dwindling oil reserves.   Dr. Jim Willie also said the UK and USA stole their gold in London vaults too.

ISIS is also USSA.  If they were the bad guys - they would have been droned - six ways to Sunday.

This appears to be a sort of reverse Syria ... in Syria you had an initial legit and homegrown series of protests that were violently repressed, and a small number of Syrians took up arms.

That of course, was piggybacked on by outside jihadis, sua sponte, and then with US/Saudi/Turkish help ][and apparently some Israeli weapons and some helpful bombings].

Now, the Syrian opposition is foreign and far worse than Assad.

In Iraq, the native jihadis, egged on by the US/Israel, are being joined by well armed Iraqis who are simply tired of their US puppet government.

That is, an illegitimate, mostly foreign and foreign backed rebellion may actually grow more native, and more legitimate.

ISIS and its embedded CIA and Mossad agents may well en up losing control of this situation.

In fact, I predict they will.

Anyone else notice that ISIS is making the world know the men they're shooting are wearing civilian clothes over their uniforms? One of the vids showed ISIS pulling down civilian pants covering fatigues.

I think that's an important detail. It constitutes an act of war as opposed to a genocide. Since ISIS are not bound by any national jurisdiction, nobody could argue they're in breach of the Geneva convention that describes how to deal with prisoners of war.

Key is if and when ISIS arrives in the capitol, how successful their strategy will be. If they take Bagdad in a few weeks, the current Iraqi regime never had enough support to sustain their control. I think that's a big part of this problem.

Thousands of soldiers were lined up and shot during WW2. No questions asked then, no videos either. Some photos maybe.

ISIS has declared war on the current Iraq regime which is another US puppet regime fyi. The US trained ISIS to fight Assad that much we know. Why ISIS has supposedly changed sides and is now attacking a US ally remains a big question mark.

With so many ISF deflecting against what appears to be a small rag tag rebel army, the whole process is in question. Didn't we train ISF as well?

How is Britain reacting to the terrorist threat in Iraq? Let's ask the Daily Mail Online shall we?

"More British citizens signed up to fight in Iraq and Syria than joined the Army Reserve last year, it can be revealed.

Just 170 extra reservists enlisted over the past year - despite a Government target to boost the stand-by force by 11,000 by 2018.

But at the same time the brutal al-Qaeda inspired ISIS forces tearing through Iraq have been boosted by 'several hundred' Brits, ministers told MailOnline."

 Southern Iraq, from Baghdad down

is predominately Shiite, the majority population of Iraq.

The reportedly slender ISIS forces (US& Saudi-backed Sunnis) are not strong enough to conquer southern Iraq,

particularly since they appear to be engaged in a foolish religious war of extermination making all Shiites their "enemy",

and also because strong Iranian (Shiite) military forces will be sent to stop them advancing.

Expect the situation to "stabilize" albeit with protracted conflict (as in Syria) enabled with US& Saudi funding and facilitation.

Note: Civil Wars are never, ever resolved when it's part of a larger proxy (quasi) war. Outside forces taking up sides protract a conflict where both sides of the indigenous population suffer.

Most always when both sides fight with no external interference, there's always a truce, but, the bloodshed always stops when both sides realize in the end, that they are tearing apart the very fabric they're trying to preserve.

Always, detente prevails-- at least in most cases!

A perfect example was the US Civil War?!?

Its painfully obvious there's a lot more going on than what's on the surface. Once you start looking at the details, the narrative of angry sunnis out for shia blood falls apart. Of course there's a huge sectarian dimension. I just read a piece on the guardian about how the Iraqi officers and soldiers were ordered to abondon their posts. Those peshmerga certainly were quick on the scene too. What's up with the american and Pakistani uniforms? All masked? Check out the number of European born and/or raised guys in there. Apparently hundreds.. Isis is not that big.

Someone is trying to incite sectarian war. Or someone is trying to use the world's fear of it to get something else accomplished. I have no idea who or what..possibly carving up Iraq in a Sunni, Kurdish and Shi'a sector? Don't forget Iraq as a country is a French/British invention. Also note how this situation puts american weapons and hardware in the hands of groups that normally would never get them.

Whoever is plotting here..I don't think its the US. They come off as the fools who sunk billions and billions into a war and a reconstruction that came undone in weeks. I think its a local conspiracy. Every one of Iraq's neighbours stands to gain from this. Especially if you consider the goal isnt to conquer Iraq but to carve it up.

Hhm.. Let's first see Isis make it past baqubah then. Also..why not go after the Kurds. They're sitting on major oil fields now.

Also..Baathist remnants have thrown in with Isis apparently.

For the us this is a dumb move because they're empowering Iran as.the power broker in the region. Look up this general suleimani character. Iran is being handed Iraq on a silver platter here.

But hey..if you want to believe that this was all dreamt up by some neocon think thanks...meh. Neocons have been wrong about everything..what makes you think they have any grasp of the middle.east and it's politics?

Also..where does the US benefit from people abandoning petrodollars? The one thing that gives the dollar world reserve status atm...its good for everybody else..the us and its citizens? Not so much.

Considering that ISIS got help (esp money and weapons) from Saudi Arabia and most likely Turkey (which most likely includes NATO)  too and that they're considered allies in the fight against Assad, I can rarely think of an alliance of the US with Syria/Iran against these terrorists. Placing drones in the neighbourhood of Syria and Iran, allegedly to be used against ISIS, I can't help it but to think of it as a big lie. In my opinion Syria and Iran as well should be very cautious about this suspicious help from this uber-hegemon.
