"WB' i would love to see your work on city streets so that more people could be exposed.  anyhow just thinking out loud, great work!"

+1000s. But how?

I lived 20 years in Ladbroke Grove (London), and every day on the way to work in Kent passed the 'Pulp Bananas' of Banksy  http://www.modern-canvas-art.com/banksy-pulp-fiction-bananas-canvas-prin... in Shoreditch. A few blocks from where I lived was Banksy's pissing Royal Guardsman on the wall http://www.easyart.com/prints/street-art/pissing-guard-414564#414564 . Both works captured me every time I saw them, rose a laugh, and confirmed my belief in the absurd, and the immense potency of good unauthorised public art. A potent power, and antidote to the MSM Edward Bernaysian dominant-narrative meme-factory bilge. Banksy's work was not overtly political IMHO, but exquisitely subversive. As is WB7's, whom I believe is our contemporary John Heartfield (anti Nazi artist http://www.johnheartfield.com/john_heartfield_PHOTOMONTEUR_BIOGRAPHY.html )

I'd suggest a major difference between WB7's work and Banksy's (of that time at least) as STREET ART, is that Banksy's works are mostly stencils (pre-prepared), and restricted colours, a big plus for Graffitti Artists such as those to whom you refer in your comment above. Hold stencil 1, spray. Register stencil 2/3/4, spray. The creed of In, Out, Don't Linger.

As well as that, large 4 colour outputs (stickies or 'wallpapers') of photocomposite/photoshopped images like WB7's cost 100s to 1000s of $$$$ depending on the size. And can be painted over in a flash by the 'authorities'. But why dont you start a crowdfunded project to get one or two up in say Times Square where it can launch his work to the masses. If it were contentious enough the REST of the media can run with the 'outrage', it, spreading it far and wide (think FEMEN, PussyRiot). ZH could run the 'readers vote' comp for the most popular/subversive image/s to take WB7 to a wider audience.

Re Alex Schaefer... Part of GIABO apparently...For those who missed it:

M909 "how fast they took him to court and imposed a cease and dissist order ect on him" - Link please? are you confusing his court appearance after his chalk action?

"art teacher Alexander Schaefer, best known for his oil paintings of burning banks, decided to stage a chalk protest of his own. On the sidewalk outside of a Chase branch in downtown LA, he chalked the word "Crooks" next to a rendering of the Chase logo."

PS, Thanks WB7 for your splediferous output that articulates so much, that serves so much humour, parody, subversion and wit to us foot-soldiers on the long march back to freedomland.

edit: dont know how I got to be first post, was replying to M909, who is now a page down...peace all!

Banksy, incredibly, came to my little city a few years ago. He put up a nice piece depicting a kid with an angel halo, praying to a paint bucket. The art was made in plain sight next to some large, low brow gang tags. 3-4 days later, a city employee removed the Banksy work with high pressure abrasives. The gang tags stayed up on the wall. WTF

It was plain that my city officals desired the people to remain afraid of gangs, or just afraid in general. And also they must remain ignorant of thought provoking, inspiring art. Remain obedient workers.

Thanks for your work, WB7. Always gives me a laugh. Maskone is right that your work should find more provocative settings. You're just preaching to the choir on ZH.

Maybe we should start a crowd sourced public venue anti-statist-ad campaign. It would be nice to find people who have real estate locations where our own billboards could be mounted.

I think most municipalities regulate them. Can't remember the co. Lamar??? but a digital BB showing the whole bunch of tbtf's going up in flames would be grand!

Add an ESSO station to that!

a little off topic but...

in so cal where i live they have imposed extremely harsh penalties for graffiti.  this has been in place now for several years.  but the way i look at it, they do not want us to express how we feel in the public for it is an act of dissadence.  urban graffiti is very effective at communicating our feelings toward the establishment.  a great example is banksy.  also, there was a guy that used to do canvases of chase banks on fire.  it was amazing how fast they took him to court and imposed a cease and dissist order ect on him.  WB' i would love to see your work on city streets so that more people could be exposed.  anyhow just thinking out loud, great work!

in SoCal where I live the graffitist bangers run the city, the county and the state legislature and everything is covered in graffitti, the graffitti abatement crews are all full of graffittists, and the last guy prosecurted for graffiti was some guy named Chaka bout 10 years ago.

The way to deal with this is to do a campaign using billboards etc.
