Today's Global Warming Propaganda Is Brought To You By...
“It’s going to get a lot hotter in the United States over the next 100 years, and worse going forward," notes a report cited by Bloomberg. The report, below, fearmongers the mutually assured destruction that will happen if something is not done right now about global warming (despite the implications being out to the year 2200) concluding... "The risks are much more perverse and cruel than we saw with the financial crisis, because they accumulate over time...a business-as-usual approach is actually radical risk-taking." Can you guess who sponsored the report and used those M.A.D. words?
First, the report via Bloomberg,
In a report published today called “Risky Business,” commissioned by some of America’s top business leaders to put price tags on climate threats. For example, by the end of the century, between $238 billion and $507 billion of existing coastal property in the U.S. will likely be subsumed by rising seas, and crop yields in some breadbasket states may decline as much 70 percent.
But perhaps the biggest way Americans will physically experience global warming is, well, the warming. By 2050, the average American is likely to see between two and more than three times as many 95 degree days as we're used to. By the end of this century, Americans will experience, on average, as many as 96 days of such extreme heat each year.
The report breaks down “extremely hot” days by region to show what a child born in the past 20 years can expect to see over a lifetime.
The rising heat will strain the U.S. energy system,
As time goes on, the situation worsens.
By the end of the century, the Southeast will see an additional 11,000 to 36,000 people die each year from heat-related conditions as the region swelters under as many as 130 more days of extreme heat, according to the report.
...
If humans continue to pollute greenhouse gases on the current trajectory, the average Midwesterner could see an HHSI of 95 degrees two days every year by the end of this century. By the end of next century it will be impossible to remain outdoors without a cooling system for 20 days a year.
"The risks are much more perverse and cruel than we saw with the financial crisis, because they accumulate over time...a business-as-usual approach is actually radical risk-taking."
And in case you were wondering who would create such scaremongery (rightly or wrongly) and Mutaully Assured Destructive words?
Today’s report was funded by
Hank Paulson, the former head of Goldman Sachs and Treasury Secretary under George W. Bush,
by former hedge fund manager Tom Steyer and
by Michael Bloomberg, former mayor of New York and founder of Bloomberg LP. Backers also include former U.S. Treasury Secretaries George Shultz and Robert Rubin.

If 11,000 to 36,000 more people die from heat related issues, then by simple extrapolation 57,000 to 113,000 fewer people will die from cold related issues. This is fun, I can see why people like making up statistics.
If the evidence is against you pound the witnesses. If the witnesses are against you pound the evidence. If the evidence and the witnesses are against you pound the table. Every time I look at the evidence presented by the "critics" versus the "mainstream" I am reinforced in my view that the mainstream has better evidence.
What I see is the same old same old argument about Global Warming aka Climate Change. Those who claim it's happening (global warmists) - and it's difficult to deny some change is going on - are also absolutely adamant that it's caused by mankind. No ifs and No buts. There is no room for any other viewpoint. They do not allow any deviation from that assertion and they wheel out countless reports from organisations with vested interests and alphabet agencies of the state to support their claim, mostly containing dubious "scientific data" and "selective analysis". The UN IPCC comes to mind where GW/CC has become a huge money & career-making industry.
The global warmists have no tolerance of those who accept that some GW/CC is happening but do not accept that it's caused by mankind (AGW).
But understanding the true cause is important because it directly affects what actions need to be taken to deal with it. This is completely lost on the "true believers" who are overwhelmingly on the political Left and see GW/CC as a huge opportunity to increase the power & control of The State over our lives and to raise taxes accordingly. Not that the fraudulent taxes raised are spent on anti-GW/CC measures. Go figure.
Is it any wonder that this whole subject has become a giant turn-off for millions of people?? Many of whom may well support improvements in infrastructure to provide better flood defences, better drainage systems and river dredging etc.
To say that the global warmists have scored an own goal is an understatement.
It amuses me to no end how a fairly rational blog (though prone to hyperbole) becomes a baying crowd of partisan lunatics over an issue like Global Climate Change. Most of the comments are made along political or personal lines. Sarcastic comments about data errors are substituted for fact or contrary studies. Straw men roam the comments. Exaggeration is the mode du jour.
I don't believe mankind is capable of making the changes necessary to counter climate changes caused by humans. Most of the people in charge are about as rational as most of the commenters on this thread so good luck with that. But the failure to accept a scientific consensus for so grave a problem is dangerous, ignorant and stupid, as are the arguments used to support inaction.
But if we assume mankind could do something, doesn't it make sense to look for solutions for both manmade and natural climate change? I don't believe we can stop solar flares or adjust orbital inclinations, but we can make adjustments today for the inevitable changes. Why does your dismissal of climate change as natural preclude us from taking palliative measures?
I will be dead by the time the most serious changes occur. For those of you under 30 who mock all this and relish throwing away your winter clothes, I wish you luck and some brains.
"...the failure to accept a scientific consensus for so grave a problem is dangerous"
So, you're a global warmist in disguise...
Now, strip out the strong human desire to comply with group-think (this is far stronger than most people realise or admit), strip out the peer pressure to comply, strip out the UN IPCC/Government pressures to comply else suffer sackings and/or funding cuts to the publicly-funded organisation you work for, strip out the fact that the IPCC was set up precisely to "sell" AGW/CC to the masses, strip out the abuse & misuse of data by climate scientists with agendas, strip out the fact that climate change has been going on for billions of years, ignore the fact that most of the tax revenues raised by state imposition to combat AGW/CC ...and you are left with a huge bunch of lemmings running over the cliff all believing they are doing the right thing and a lot of Left-wing intellectuals with "progressive" agendas.
As I wrote in my earlier comment "is it any wonder that GW/CC has become a huge turn-off to millions??"
"Now, strip out the strong human desire to comply with group-think"
Such as the oodles of spew in the form of hundreds of climate change denialism that this article has resulted in from the hedgetards?
"strip out the fact that the IPCC was set up precisely to "sell" AGW/CC to the masses"
BZZZZT WRONG! IPCC was set up by the WMO to collect research about global climate change and in part if and how much of it is cause by humans.
" strip out the abuse & misuse of data by climate scientists with agendas"
Would have to by 97% of the scientiists in the field, making it a conspiracy theory to rival 9/11 trootherism.
" strip out the fact that climate change has been going on for billions of years,"
Strip out the fact that you've here shown yourself to know nothing of value about the subject being discussed....
" ignore the fact that most of the tax revenues raised by state imposition to combat AGW/CC"
Which is at best a few measly percent of totaly tax revenue in all western nations....
"and you are left with a huge bunch of lemmings running over the cliff all believing they are doing the right thing and a lot of Left-wing intellectuals with "progressive" agendas."
The lefties have other things to be embarrased about but learned scientific ignorance isn't one of them.
Nah, sorry. I don't buy any of that. Mainly due to so many errors.
See no evil, hear no evil.....
I was wondering when you would appear with a cryptic comment...thanks for not disappointing me ;-)
Not cryptic at all...
It's a variation on lying to yourself by refusing to acknowledge the facts...
Classic Hedgetard behaviour...
I do not consider myself either dangerous, ignorant, nor stupid, you arrogant, brainwashed, sonofabitch.
You, on the other hand.....
Naw, you're just an old coot gone senile...
AGW is bullshit. The data have been falsified, the theory is faulty and the modeling is garbage. Temperature data in the US have been systematically altered, and raw data are not available. And the sites where data are collected have had significant land use changes that have not been accounted for properly. The theory of forcing of water vapor to create the temperature rises is faulty. The modeling is garbage because GIGO is applicable. The peer review process is rigged, and the studies have been based on a faulty foundation. So yes, we lunatics are a tad bit skeptical of people whose future livlihood depends upon large government grants and scaremongering. I plead gulity.
A fine example of a completely deluded hedgetard living in denial...
"AGW is bullshit. The data have been falsified, the theory is faulty and the modeling is garbage."

If a Mahatma Ghanhi type says you're a good person that would be a good omen that you are. If a Ted Bundy type says you're a great person that would be like having a bucket of manure dumped over your head. When the good recommend something it is a compliment, when the bad recommend something they are not complimentary to it. When the 1% are recommending something, they may be really dumping on it. People need to be sceptical and examine things and make up their own mind. If I accept a theory as the most likely answer does that mean I've thrown out all doubt ?

By Michael Bloomberg, Hank Paulson and Tom Steyer,
http://m.washingtonpost.com/opinions/a-climate-change-risk-assessment/2013/10/03/d4f70e3c-2bb5-11e3-8ade-a1f23cda135e_story.html
Government officials, economists, financiers and everyone else in the business community need to ask: How much economic risk do we face from unmitigated climate change? Answering this question would go a long way toward helping us all prepare for the extreme weather and related economic effects that are most likely coming our way.
That’s why the three of us have joined together to lead a new effort designed to do just that. Our Risky Business initiative (www.riskybusiness.org) will look across the U.S. economy and assess the potential impacts of climate change by region and by sector. Our analysis, when complete, will arm decision-makers with the information they need to determine how much climate risk they are comfortable taking on.
The reality is that we don’t yet know everything there is to know about climate change, and we don’t know its full potential impact. That’s exactly why we need to assess the risks. What will changes in temperature and precipitation mean for farmers and livestock producers? How will higher sea levels affect the value of coastal property? What might stronger and more frequent storms mean for the infrastructure that is the bedrock of our national economy?

Does anyone really expect to get an honest assessment from that group of lying Tribal bastards?
Nice....
A Jew-baiting Hedgetard....
When a science becomes politicised,it's no longer a science. It's just spin now. If it can be spun to make a certain few rich, they'll sell their souls to give it a try. The sad thing is, despite their honest attempt at lying, most common folk realise how dishonest the global warming message is. Another money making scam claiming to "save" the world at a price. Get a real job you farkers.
The global warming story...sorry, now it is called "climate change", is all about pushing Cap & Trade.
Cap & Trade is all about giving Wall Street a new tool for extorting money from anyone who produces or is a consumer of energy, i.e. everyone.
In our fast moving world some stories that should be noted often are overlooked and ignored. We all saw and heard about hurricane Sandy, in addition to flooding the subway system of New York and halting financial trading Sandy may of even tilted the Presidential election.
If Sandy had indeed made a difference in the election outcome one might say Sandy has had the impact of also altering our future. While we are becoming more use to these uncommon "weather occurrences", it is possible that we should be viewing them as a warning of worse yet to come. More on this subject in the article below.
http://brucewilds.blogspot.com/2012/11/under-reported-weather-events.htm...
Someone didn't proofread his scaremongeriness enough... not 'global warming'.... that is noted as a specific direction by the masses and will lead to comments and doubts.
Use the term 'climate change' thereby encompassing ALL weather nuances and any doubt can be easily smashed to pieces and the propaganda can be enhanced.
Why are politicians so willing and eager to ask Americas sons and daughters to risk life and limbs in foreign wars while unwilling to ask Americans to make such a minor sacrifice? Simply mandating lower heating and higher cooling settings in government offices and buildings would give the private sector the cover they need to adjust their thermostats accordingly in offices and stores.
I wrote and posted an article on Mon Dec 24, 2007 criticizing the politicians lack of courage in environmental policies, it remains as relevant today as when I wrote it. The post subject: Candidates shy away from "C" word, I find it a shame that none of the Republican Presidential candidates or president Obama in his State Of The Union address have mentioned any real innovative initiative concerning energy conservation.
With some minor changes to the way we live a lot of energy could be saved but that would cost big business a lot of money and reduce the GDP. The article below delves into the issue Obama is trying to raise as he jets back and forth across the world burning fuel in his massive government plane. I propose the President considers thinking about playing golf a little closer to home.

We get these 100+ year forecasts from people who can't tell us what the weather is going to be next Tuesday and we are supposed to fall on our economic and libertarian swords and sacrifice the freedoms and quality of life for our children and grandchildren to the tyranny of U.S. Government and corrupt U.N. international bureaucratic criminals and tyrants.
I am 78 years old and have watched these lying bastards try to deceive us for most of my life.
I call bullshit on anthropomorphic global warming by the U.S.
If there really is anything to it other than imposing another tax on working Americans to raise funds to build a U.N. military for the globalist elite, then the burden should fall on the biggest polluters, et.al.; China, India, Indonesia, Russia, etc.
Ovomit and his appointed czarist demoniacs can go back to hell, where they came from.
Clearly you don't know the difference between a boundary value problem and an initial value problem....
And you clearly can't read a graph...
Yes, your tax dollars are the key piece of the puzzle. With them we can make the Al Gore/GS carbon trading scheme a reality, and finally create derivitives on the air, which this country has sorely needed. Forward! comrade....
Twelve years a Hedgetard....
Liars, damn liars, and "experts".
"It's Busch's fault" "Busch did it two" "both party's hour the same"
"global warming is reel".....funny how idiots mindlessly repeat Socialist Semite Mainstream Media propaganda.....
Just wondering whether rich people who commission studies understand that those hired to perform the work never yield up answers that are inconsistent with the bottom line conclusions already embraced (or desired) by those who charter the studies. (Take GM internal study of what went wrong, for a current example.) I mean, do they think that those who perform such studies are stupid and do not wish to be hired to do similar things in the future?
Bullish for sunscreen it looks like!
and movie screens!! who doesn't like a great SciFi storyline?
Open the pod bay door, Hal.......
So, we are expected to believe these guys are prophets? There is ZERO supporting data, so we must assume they are just guessing or lying.
However, if the north pole is in fact moving toward Siberia, as has been documented. then the southern states would be closer to the equator and warmer. This obviously does not have anything to do with CO2, which is the Red Herring used to assist in the implementation of their "Great Work" of global enslavement for their master satan.
You channelling Nid?
That's some serious fucked up nonsense, man...
Psst, Magnetic north don't have much to do with this...
Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't 10s of thousands more people die every year from cold than from heat? And if places like Siberia warm up won't this create millions of new acres of pontential farmland thereby increasing world food production? And wouldn't warmer oceans create more rain, thereby increasing our freshwater supplies? And finally, how do we know that a warmer world isn't the norm? And finally finally the Earth and Sun don't really gives a rat's ass about what we do because the Earth will warm up, or cool down do to forces we don't understand, and not becasue of what Man is doing. And if the Sun decides it wants to burp, and send a giant solar flare our way, we're going to be toast anyway. As far as the Earth is concerened we are less than fleas on a dog's butt.
No...
Go back to sleep...
Shhh, quit talking kooky. Don't you know that humans are respnsible for any changes in the climate? I believe I read that it is estimated the world was much warmer tens/hundreds of thousands of years+ ago but hey, that can't be because the ONLY way the world could get warmer is ebcause of humans and all their cars and other shit. Can't ever be the system just does its thing and the sun factors in. Acknowledging that would mean humans aren't as special and all powerful as so many wish to think the species is.
I like these types of idiots predicting things 86 years from now when these "experts" can't even predict shit 3 years into the future. Sad that there are people who actually believe this crap yet given there are a few billion people who believe in a book (the bible) written by unknown people and taken as defintiive prof there is a personal god, I suppose I can't be all surprised by this man-made global warming idiocy.
The hedgetards are really crawling otta the woodwork today...
Are you deductive powers that lousy or are you just lying to yourself?
Santelli just went full hedgetard with the "C02 is plant food" meme...
so you are saying that CO2 is not plant food?
What I am saying is that anybody who thinks that C02 is primarily plant food and that dumping it into the atmosphere in increasing amounts is a good thing for plants to the exclusion of all else is a hedgetard...
Is that clear enough for you?
not unless we grow more hemp. ;-)
It is the responsibility of every citizen to question Authority - Benjamin Franklin
Climate Summit in September 2014, New York.
This Summit will be a different kind of Climate Summit. It is aimed at catalyzing action by governments, business, finance, industry, and civil society in areas for new commitments and substantial, scalable and replicable contributions to the Summit that will help the world shift toward a low-carbon economy.
The Summit will come one year before countries aim to conclude a global climate agreement in 2015 through the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Although the 2014 Climate Summit is not part of the negotiating process ...

Lots to talk about and lots of questions coming at the end of this Arctic melt season...

Of course their global climate convention will propose more drastic controls, cap and trade, carbon tax etc. That is the game. Down deep they love climate change and realize there is nothing they can do about it. However like I said earlier, it doesn't mean climate change is not happening. It only takes the ability to read to see this.
If they were serious about it, cars made in Germany that get 200 MPG would be sold in America. They cannot however so how serious are they really? No they are only serious about control.
None of this however explains why islanders are having to move due to rising oceans. This is not political, arbitrary or debateable. The water is washing over their feet.
There is a certain percentage that will deny anything if it affects their portfolio, perception of political reality or the programmed neuron pathways that were developed in grammar school. I am becoming convinced that if Algore stated crack and meth were not good for you, a certain amount of Americans and posters here woiuld immediately begin smoking it.

The German VW that gets 200 MPG cost $250,000
I rest my case.
i wouldn't bet against hank paulson.
Crimate Change is as old and natural as continental drift. Climate has always changed - its driven by the sun and the earths VARYING orbit. There are many cycles and we see nothing new in these cycles of warming and cooling (Google Prof Bob Carters lectures on the history of millions of years of climate change) The hysteria of this article is just that. Totally uninformed and unevidenced ignorant hysteria. Its a bit warmer this century because our cycle with the sun means it will get a bit warmer as it was 900yrs ago, but in 200yrs time our cycle will mean it gets colder again as it was 400 yurs ago. The real bummer is that within 5000yrs we'll get another ice- age as our orbit parameters around the sun dictate must happen. Of course if you are a millenenial religious warming enthusiat I suggest you also ask the Govt to tax walking. Because obviously so many people walking on earth must be the cause of earthquakes. Stop people walking and we can stop the earthquakes! Al Gore logic -i see earthquakes =- i see people - must be all the people making the earth quake. Sad age of unreason we now live in. Time to drink more!
Looks like you have been smokin' some good shit tonight somewhere in Colorado...
