Facebook’s Emotional Contagion
For a while now it has been well proven beyond a shadow of a doubt by scientific research (Cornell and California Universities) that there is a phenomenon called ‘emotional contagion’, meaning that it is possible to induce a state of either happiness or sadness in someone, by inducing that feeling and emotion without their knowledge or awareness.
Up until now the experiments have only been carried out in laboratories. But, now that Facebook has come clean and admitted that users of the social network were induced into feeling either positive or negative emotions in a study that they carried out on a handful of them, we have the proof that it is possible to do so on a massive scale.
Is this the future? Inducing happy and sad emotions? Will we be starting wars half-way around the world by subliminal-like induced emotions of aggression? Or will we be inducing euphoric happiness as we wish in the world of business to create a buzz and get the consumers buying once again? Even worse, could it be political exploited?
Facebook already had every bit of information that it wanted to have about us as do other social-networking sites. They knew where I went to school, who my brother is and whether I’m married or single and if I like the Red Sox’s or I root for the Democrats. But, it can do a whole lot more than that. It wasn’t enough to just see me happy and sad…they wanted to see if they could make me feel one emotion or another by influencing me. Plus, it didn’t actually take a whole lot of work to be able to do it.
Now, it has published the results of the test carried out on 689,003 Facebook users and how it influenced their home pages and what they wrote on their walls. Newsfeeds were secretly filtered according to the flow of comments, video and photo posting and web links. One part of the test exposed users to ‘positively-charged emotions’ while the other cohort ended up with ‘negative emotional content’.
The results proved: “Emotions expressed by friends, via online social networks, influence our own moods, constituting, to our knowledge, the first experimental evidence for massive-scale emotional contagion via social networks”.
Facebook had the findings published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Science in the USA this month and a Facebook spokesperson state that the reason behind carrying out such a test was the following: “to improve our services and to make the content people see on Facebook as relevant and engaging as possible”. To improve their services? Surely it has greater power than that? Surely it could be used to influence you in a political decision? Surely it could influence you into thinking that this product is great or that product is bad?
• 689,003 people participated in the study (unknown to them, of course).
• That means about 0.04% of all users in the world.
• 1 in 2,500 people.
• It took place over a period of a week in 2012.
• Emotions were reinforced by what they read and saw.
• Emotional content was filtered and the reactions of the users were monitored by researchers.
What’s worrying about the study that Facebook carried out is not so much that it was done covertly and that the people were the rats in the cages at their merciless analysis, but the fact that our emotions can be influenced by what we see , hear and read around us. It’s the fact that our state of mind can be induced and manipulated by exactly what someone decides to show us. That is the scary thing since we are no longer in control of not only what we get shown and what we look at, but now it’s the loss of emotional control that has set in thanks to damn social networking. Just how intrusive is that?
Facebook has once again over-stepped the mark of ethical behavior. It has gone over the red line of what is legal and what is not. Any human being involved in a test must by legal rights know that they test is being carried out in order to participate it in freely. Where did the notion of ‘informed consent’ in the law vanish to? What happened to the forms that should have been filled in providing consent?
We’re not guinea pigs Facebook!
It’s high time that all of this were stopped! Who wants to start?

I find most of your comments sharp Huge, but without discounting AE911's compelling body of research, evidence, and logic, I've looked critically at Woods presentations for many years, and appreciate her perspective. Since she first launched her website, it's become public/pleb knowledge that Direct Energy Weapons are now in active service with military and blackops. Search pain ray tested in Iraq, Navy deploys lazer on ships, microwave/electromag mind manipulation, HAARP...
She may have been inaccurate in some of her conclusions, but she's done the best job so far that I've seen of explaining the very unusual details that even AE911 dont cover, such as the 1/punched holes in buildings 1,2 &5 and adjoing roadways that seem to be seared through the entire structures from above, 2/all the half burned/melted vehicles around the back, 3/that even physical explosive devices of the type that caused the squibs and pre-demolition of the lobbies would not have been able to PULVERISE the cement so uniformly TOP TO BOTTOM. 4/No item was found larger than phone keypad, other than one crushed filing cabinet, and the pile of rubble was a fraction of the total of materials that were used in the WTC construction.

I've been on the observation deck of the WTC and watched a light plane track down the Hudson, way below where I was standing, and thought, "wow, they allow that in NYC? Woods allows the 'unkown unkowns' into the discussion, with the help of John Hutchison (who's replicating some of Tesla's experiments), alongside the 'known unknowns' such as how x3 asbestos ridden recently leased billion$ insured buildings freefall into their own footprints along with the evidence of massive bond and financial fraud that was enabled in the immediate aftermath as Fed/NYSE 'suspended' normal clearing oversight of 'markets'.
I understand the the F117 flying prism was operational for 10 years before it flew in public. Search x37b and ask yourself what's it doing up there for over a year? Mirror for HAARP (or similar)? Chek it's orbits and the 'coincedental' earthquakes that have apparently happend around the planet when it's been overhead. Be sure that the trickle of 'latest' technology is decades (at least) OBSOLETE when we learn about it, or is being deployed. I assume that there's far far more that we don't know, than we do know. They did collapse. The question is how. I certainly do not believe the airplane collisions is what caused the collapse but unfortunately a large majority of the world did and that's all you need to get them to rally behind another war. And I did see the dr. Judy stuff and it's certainly interesting and possibly plausible.

Facebook was also forcing its users to participate in honing its (or CIA's) facial recognition algorithms. First, disclaimer: I have a Facebook account, but only because I wanted to join Jim Sinclair's gold discussion group.
So one day I go to log in, and FB tells me that it needs to confirm my identity(!) I'd had that account for a few years by then, why did they all of a sudden need to "verify my identity"? Ok, so how do I do it? FB is going to show me a bunch of pictures from my FRIENDS' photostreams, and then I'm supposed to identify which person in the photo is my "friend".
Did you read that?
Now, first of all, I have like dozens of FB "friends" and I have no idea who pretty much any of them are. I mean, I made friendships of sorts from hanging out in the JS group, but it was never more than just saying hello or having side discussions on FB. So I don't really know these people, certainly don't know what they look like in all their photos.
So here's how it worked: FB would present me with a photo, and then highlight the face of the person it wanted me to identify, who was presumably the account owner of that photo. I was presented with about 10 photos or so. I was pretty much able to recognize all of them since I am good at faces, notwithstanding the fact I'd only ever seen any of these people in their static profile photo on the JS Mineset page. But I guess I passed, because I was allowed to log in after going through them all.
So what was happening here? Connect the dots, it's pretty simple: CIAbook was using the captive and mainly braindead FB user pool to calibrate its facial recognition software. Isn't Facebook great? For the CIA I mean? It's like the ultimate playground: a bunch of mindless humans all willing to sell their souls and biometric data for the privilege of wasting time and eventually enslaving themselves in a prison of carefully adjusted perspective management.

Fuck Facefuck Chumbs. I have an account that I haven't logged into for probably 2 years. I'm not going to delete it, but I'm not going to login to it either. It's a wonderful tool for the government to spy on us, as anything that you post publicly is fair game for them. They don't even need a warrant for that shit. Everybody has something to hide. Everybody. The last time Congressional Research Services was asked to determine how many federal criminal laws there were, they basically told Congress to bugger off. Why? Because the last time they had tried, they had to guesstimate that there were 10,000 in the USC, and that with all of the cross referencing between the USC and the CFR, there were more, and it was too complex for them to figure it out. We don't get to decide what's right and wrong. "Show me the man and I'll find you the crime."
Fun fact: I will admit to being tempted to log in to view Albuquerque Police Department's full FB page after they shot James Boyd. The level of viciousness in the comments on their homepage was insane, and to see all of the threads, you had to be logged in. APD no longer has a FB page, as the nasty comments were relentless.
