"I say we go back to the Articles of Confederation and forget the Federal Government. Oh, wait, the last guys who tried that wound up with 1 million dead Americans...oops, so much for the "federation" being voluntary..."

Was and is voluntary. But there's a price to be paid for shelling US troops on US property.  If you can't pay, don't play.

I think the American founders were brave.

They weren't angels. But they had balls.

I say we go back to the Articles of Confederation and forget the Federal Government. Oh, wait, the last guys who tried that wound up with 1 million dead Americans...oops, so much for the "federation" being voluntary...

The next real fight club will carry flaming swords and have wings or the human race will extinguish itself.  I'm counting on the former.

From the peanut gallery, great work, but maybe find room for ole' hickory in there? He basically won the second american revolution single handedly.

Fuk ole' Hickory. The people that fought for him at New Orleans (the majority of he troop that fought at that battle were from the 5 civilized tribes of Georgia and Alabama) got a really screwing when they were moved down the trail of tears, they trusted him and most of them died because they believed in him.

Again, Fuk that sorry excuse of a man that somehow made it to the presidency!

OBTW, fuk anybody that thinks other wise!

the native americans were fucked from the minute white people set foot on this continent.

it's called competition . the real competition. if you cannot make advanced weapons , you lose.

and this why the future looks scary, mass automation, mass spying , mass data gathering, sattelites, and artificially intelligent weapons systems.

all of humanity will increasingly be treated as native americans by an increasingly consolidated set of corporations. never have so few had the opportunity to rule over so many . why? technology.

This is false.  There were Indians at the conflict on BOTH sides, but they did not compose a majority, not even close.

Totally misleading--Ross's (Ross was Cherokee leader) crossing the river to turn the Red Stick position was decisive--without the Cherokees, Jackson may not have won at all.

I don't know about any of that American indian stuff, but I do know that he took down the 2nd (actually 3rd) Bank of the United States, taking out that asshole bankster Biddle.  That was a good thing to do.

History is complex.  Jackson both screwed the Cherokee and vetoed the bank.  Boo to the first and hurrah for the second.

It was terrible, but Washington got his stripes killing Native americans as well. I have never been a fan of Franklin. The history books would tell you that his foriegn diplomacy garenteed american independance, but in reality, hanging out in the hell fire club and other secret societies garenteed the european financeers the ablity to come right back in, which they did, before the end of washingtons second term. The war of 1812 with jackson truly was a second war for independance.

Well....right there Ckierst1....you show yourself to be part of the problem.  Your lack of knowledge of history.....which (un)informs your opinion of what the real problem is with America.

I have lived in two different cities in two different states named after Andrew Jackson.  Jackson, MS and Jacksonville, FL.  Andrew Jackson at one time was a hero of mine....if for anything else like you....he destroyed the Second Bank of the United States.

But he also commited genocide against entire nations of Native Americans.  Plus he set the precedent that Obama is going to use to enpower his imperial rule by defying the Supreme Court at that time that ruled against Jackson's actions against the Native Americans and their land.

Quote:    "John Marshall has made his decision; now let him enforce it!"

And with that....Jackson in the name of the United States forcebly removed the Cherokee and other tribes off their land rich in timber, natural wildlife for food and furs and most importantly....GOLD for the US Treasury.  So Jackson killed the Bank.....only to commit genocide in order to enrich his own Treasury.

You need to grow up and learn.  And the first lesson to learn sonny boy is......NEVER HAVE A HERO.  There is NO man ever been born that is worth that title.

The Cherokee which comprised the majority of those moved were more civilized than the whites that lived around them. They had there own constitution, a written language, and their own newspapers. The move however engendered a division in the tribe in OK that persisted through and after the Civil War.

To the dumbasses who downvoted you.

The term "Five Civilized Tribes" came into use during the mid-nineteenth century to refer to the Cherokee, Choctaw, Chickasaw, Creek, and Seminole nations. Although these Indian tribes had various cultural, political, and economic connections before removal in the 1820s and 1830s, the phrase was most widely used in Indian Territory and Oklahoma.

Elements of "civilization" within Southeastern Indian society predated removal. The Cherokee, for example, established a written language in 1821, a national supreme court in 1822, and a written constitution in 1827. The other four nations had similar, if less noted, developments.

Also those dumbasses might want to learn what kind of inspiration the Founding Fathers received from the "savages" to shape the Constitution.

According to the Iroquois constitution, states were first to solve disputes between them on their own. If resolution efforts failed then the national government would take authority, Hill said.

The Iroquois place the creation of their constitution, which was recorded on belts, at between 1000 and 1400 A.D., according to the Smithsonian magazine. The Great Law said the national government should have a commander-in-chief and that person should present a "state of the union" address to the nation, Hill said.

The Iroquois' also said that when a legislator was presenting an issue to the governing chamber, others should be quiet, a practice adopted by Congress that contrasts with protocol in the British parliament, Hill said.

[Benjamen] Franklin, then Pennsylvania's official printer, became familiar with the Iroquois political system by printing minutes of their meetings, according to the magazine.

"He recognized that the Iroquois constitution contained many features absent in other governments at the time," including the concept that "elected officials were never masters but remained servants of their constituencies," the magazine states.

However, the Iroquois constitution differed from the later U.S. document in one important way -- it specifically mentioned women, said Knapp. Many Indian nations were matriarchal with women nominating legislators, she added.

WB,

The ship 'Republic' has a gay man and his wife (a transvestite) at the helm (according to Joan Rivers). What could possibly go wrong?

With navigators like Mr. Yellen and Valerie Jarrett, our course is sure to be correct (isn't it?).

I think it's like the game 'Jenga', where one at at time the blocks supporting the structure are withdrawn to be put on top of an ever-more instable structure. It's still standing, but there isn't much stability left now.

[EDIT: Is the correct word 'instable' or 'unstable'? I don't know. It's like the British, who use the words 'flammable' and 'inflammable' intechangably, I suppose. Perhaps it's like the subtle connotation in the difference that 'instable' means it COULD POSSIBLY fall, and 'unstable' means it PROBABLY WILL fall. I surmise that 'flammable' means it COULD POSSIBLY burn, and 'INFLAMMABLE' means that it definetely WILL burn (when exposed to an open flame). See my avatar for further details. In the course of a ship's death, 3 and a half hours can seem like a lifetime. Einstein was right about time (in certain senses). The band played on ALMOST until the ship took it's 'death-plunge'. Most of the testimonies of the eye-witnesses (the people who got off the ship in time) indicated that the last song they heard was a popular ditty named 'Autumn' (NOT 'Nearer My God To Thee', as was reported in the yellow journalism press accounts at the time). May the victims of the sinking of the RMS Olympic (You thought it was the 'Titanic', didn't you? SILLY HUMANS are SO GULLIBLE!) rest in peace.]

http://www.jenga.us.com/about.php

Jenga is a game of physical and mental skill. Built on the simple premise of stacking blocks, Jenga engages players of all ages, across all cultures. Jenga's success rests on its solid play value. Players take turns to remove a block from a tower and balance it on top, creating a taller and increasingly unstable structure as the game progresses.

Jenga Rules:

A classic Jenga game consists of 54 precision-crafted, specially finished hard wood blocks. To set up the game, use the included loading tray to create the initial tower. Stack all of the blocks in levels of three placed next to each other along their long sides and at a right angle to the previous level.

Once the tower is built, the person who stacked the tower plays first. Moving in the game Jenga consists of taking one block on a turn from any level of the tower (except the one below an incomplete top level), and placing it on the topmost level in order to complete it. Players may use only one hand at a time; either hand may be used, but only one hand may touch the tower at any time.

Players may tap a block to find a loose one. Any blocks moved but not played should be replaced, unless doing so would make the tower fall. The turn ends when the next player touches the tower, or after ten seconds, whichever occurs first.

The game ends when the tower falls -- completely or if any block falls from the tower (other than the block a player moves on a turn). The loser is the person who made the tower fall (i.e., whose turn it was when the tower fell).

This last line is incorrect. the WINNER (in their own mind) sees it as a VICTORY when the tower falls.
