California Highway Patrolman Caught On Tape Pummeling Black Woman
"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of police brutality?"
In what has quickly become viral as yet another example of extreme (and unchecked) police behavior against the people, California Highway Patrol says that it is investigating footage posted on YouTube that shows a policeman repeatedly punching the face and head of a prostrate woman. As the disturbing clip shows, "the policeman just pounded her," and described by a witness, "If you look at the video, there are 15 hits. To the head, and not just simple jabs. These are blows to the head. Blows. Really serious blows. And this is ridiculous to me... I find it hard to believe there [was] no other remedy in this situation."

As The BBC reports, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) says that it is looking into the details of the incident, which has been condemned by civil rights leaders.
As a matter of policy, every time there is a use of force by our officers, there is a review conducted to determine whether the use of force was appropriate," a CHP statement said.
"That will be done in this case. However, since there is an ongoing investigation, it would be premature to comment on this specific video segment without reviewing the entire incident."
When the video starts, the officer is seen trying to detain the barefooted woman, who walks a few steps away from him.
But the officer is seen forcing her to the ground, briefly struggling with her before repeatedly pummelling her. A few moments later, a plainclothes officer enters the picture and helps his colleague put the woman in handcuffs.
A CHP spokesperson was quoted by CBS Los Angeles on Friday as saying that the agency was trying to bring Tuesday's incident "to a just conclusion".
Starting at around 15 seconds, the CHP officer just loses it...
But, as CBS reports, the community wants answers...
The video caught the attention of local civil rights leaders, who expressed shock and outrage at their own news conference.
"Speaking for the women of this community, we are angry, we are upset," said Lita Herron of the Youth Advocacy Coalition.
Community activist Earl Ofari Hutchinson, speaking at the local leaders' news conference, agreed.
"Over the years, CHP has had a very good track record in terms of community relations," Hutchinson said. "That's why this was so shocking."
But Hutchinson said that "excessive force, abuse of authority, is not going to be tolerated," calling for a federal investigation and for the officer to be immediately suspended pending the results of the federal probe, reports CBS Los Angeles.
Hutchinson said the group has not received any information from the CHP about the context of the video, although he could not think of a reason that could justify the officer's actions.
"We don't know at this point [what occurred before the recording]. The only thing we have the video," he said, insisting that no matter what transpired "the officer crossed the line."
"To subdue, that's one thing. But to beat, that's another thing," Hutchinson said.
CHF Chief Chris O'Quinn added...
"I can say that the tape only shows a small part of what transpired. There are events that led up to this. Until that's collected and put into -- perspective, we aren't going to be able to make a determination."

Race is irrelevant in this discussion. Police are there to serve and protect. Here is the solution to the rise in police bruality.
1) Terminate the current police force and hire your own. Some communities have done this around the country. This is the only way you will have a police force that answers to the community they are hired to serve and protect.
2) Do not allow police boards to decide the fate of an officer in question. This should be done by a citizen board. It makes not sense, for the community, to have police officers deciding the fate of one of their own. They will almost always see their fellow officer's actions acceptable.
After the Rodney King beating, a CA lady sheriff explained on tv that with her training and the gear she carried on duty, she could, by herself, quickly and easily subdue and restrain any belligerent, drug-crazed, linebacker-sized suspect.

The police department in Lafayette, Indiana, has released dash cam footage which shows lieutenant Tom Davidson pushing over Nicholas Kincade, a 25-year-old paraplegic who uses a motorized wheelchair to get around.
Police were called to the scene after receiving reports that Kincade was armed with a gun near a charter school.
Police didn’t find a firearm and said Kincade had a pocket knife that he carries for protection.
School officials told officers to inform Kincade that he wasn’t welcome near the school. Police told him he could be charged with trespassing and ordered him to leave.
As Kincade was leaving he accidentally ran over Davidson’s foot provoking the belligerent officer to shove the wheelchair-bound man to the ground.
“Now you’re going to jail!” say the officers to the paraplegic whom they just ‘protected and served.’Kincade was arrested on a count of battery on a law enforcement officer and taken to jail by an ambulance. The charge was later dismissed.

“The officer resorted to dangerously excessive force in a situation that did not involve serious danger to himself,” said Krause Yang. “In fact, it appears that the 16-year-old was the one who acted in a relatively calm manner while Ramirez unnecessarily escalated the situation into a scary one. Here in suburban Westchester - just north of NYC, we had a NYC cop shoot up a car for no reason AFTER he'd had 10 drinks at a bar (following a session at the Bronx practice range). One occupant was seriously injured (shot 6 times) - the two were returning home after a hockey game. Absolutely NO reason for the drunk cop to do anything much less shoot at them. WTF?
The NYC cop WAS arrested by local cops BUT the arraignment was (illegally) closed to media and the public - and the cop was NOT charged withh DUI even though he also refused a breathalyzer test. Preferential treatment? yup.
Up before a grand jury, the NYC cop was charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of first degree assault and one count of DUI (oh.. FINALLY...)

The universal 'Use of Force' Policing model that is used all over North America and the United States of America is extremely faulty in terms of
latitude that so-called 'officers' can take with civilians. Use of Force
needs to be re-engineered to prevent any sort of premature or over-reaction by Police Services Inc. Police are contractually obligated to
adhere to jurisprudence as that is their stock and trade. Know your Human Rights paradigm well and assert your legal rights where necessary. Get to know police by getting involved with policing issues in your own community. The better you know police the more likely you are to understand why they do what they do. Knowledge about police is power over police and their sometimes unfortunate brand of
authoritarianism. Hobbesian 'brutes' they can be IMHO. Most police
are decent people and bad apples get weeded out quick in most police departments today. Protocols for 'best practices' in policing will kick in because of this particular case in the media. I hope riots do not manifest once again.

I have seen cops freak out so many times when their commands are not obeyed. They will do ANYTHING to be in control of a situation, whether the situation is in fact out of control or not. They get scared, I think. They get scared of losing control. That, and, the logic of 'if you don't do exactly as I say I will open a can of whoop-ass on you, and I feel completed justified (even though I know my actions are legally and morally wrong)'. I left a concert just last week, and people were standing outside of the venue along the street waiting to be picked up and such. Cops were trolling their fat asses in their cars just LOOKING for an excuse to pick people up for loitering, selling drugs, whatever.
A crowd of about 30 people just start chanting "pigs go home! pigs go home!" The looks on the cops' faces had to have been the funniest thing I've ever seen. They got all red-faced and embarrassed, and eventually drove off.

There is a photo of an Oakland police officer taken during the Occupy Wall St. protests, in this case in Oakland... the cops are one side of the street and the protesters are on the other side. The cops are attacking the protesters with tear gas and what not... and this one cop, a big guy, the look on his face I'll never forget. He was enjoying himself IMMENSELY. He had just thrown something at the crowd, I forget what, and he was the happiest looking mother fucker ever. Really really happy to be their kicking ass with impunity.
The protesters had made his day.

They primarily were blows to her arms held over her head and according to police she "was not injured." She was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center and released the next day, according to hospital spokeswoman Rosa Sava.

I though the Video was very clear, I saw a woman in the centre strip of the road WALKING away, an officer ran after her, grabbed her, threw her to the Ground and then started smashing her repeatedly in the face with punches, the officer was wearing black gloves to protect his hands I notice, wouldn't want to injure them on her face I suppose, I'm not into the race thing, I don't think it is relevant here whether the woman was black or white or the color of the officer.
The so called violent resistance I saw was her trying to use her arms to prevent herself being punched repeatedly in the face, I guess trying to prevent your head from being smashed in counts as violently resisting arrest in the US, so that charge might stick.
